Assuming Yamai returns in 9, what kind of tattoo is he gonna have? It would be too uncool for him not to have one at all, because if he returns he needs to have a shirtless fight with Ichiban.
Yamai doesn't need them to be big, he just needs them to be old and have shitty selfish personalities. He's got the weirdest case of emotional masochism going on.
>Dragon of Dojima falls of so hard late game
only when you get ultimate weapons. I'd assume it'd catch up again if you get the job level up as it gets way more stats from job level than other jobs
Essence of Dragon God is good enough to spam for aoe; komaki master inflicts rage which makes him a good tank especially if you have his exculsive armor and the sea god talisman so he takes no damage with good guard timings
The damage reduction wouldn't work obviously since you completely dodge the attack but it does make dodging easier by increasing the guard window since sea god talisman decreases it
>Go into an in-game sex shop >See exactly what those weapons are
Pretty fricked up. Yet not as fricked up as picking a class that isn't Kunoichi. Kunoichi's Substitute Jutsu combined with their agility means you are spamming turns with your most powerful character (Samurai).
Ending was good, as always spoilergays who didn't play the game are moronic and gay. How the frick do you miss the point of Ichiban not fighting back after what he lectured Eiji on. He sure as shit didn't 'forgive' Eiji either; he told him to take responsibility which is why they're going to the fricking police department.
The whole point was this was Aoki 2.0 except not ruined by a murder, and Kiryu's scene was him coming to the same conclusion after finally being brought low by the fact that he has to face the mistakes he made, and him wanting to die earlier was him trying to dodge his problems some more with cancer being the excuse.
This site is full of brain dead idiots. Even REDDIT got it.
but like...how? Look, I understand if it's something complicated that was made to make people really think and examine the work, but this story wasn't meant to be that.
It was written to be very earnest, honest, and only assumes you've played the previous games and 7 especially.
Ebina was clearly meant for Ichiban thoughever.
The speech at the end would’ve made more sense had it come from him since it was established from the get go that he was trying to give former Yakuza a second chance.
The whole half brother but is meaningless as it stands.
Ebina being Ichiban's half-brother feels like a relic of some previous concept of the game. It's really easy to imagine that 8 was originally an Ichiban game that got gutted and reworked to be an Ichiban+Kiryu game.
Yeah, that’s what I think too. Sawashiro’s random ass “SUGOI” feels like it should’ve been towards ichiban too, because we all know Kiryu is amazing.
I dunno why they kept the half-brother but, since arakawa isn’t really relevant to Kiryu. If he was Kazama’s son, yeah sure, as outlandish as that would be it’d work better.
Ebina was just a stand in for all the mistakes Kiryu and the Yakuza made, that's it.
He didn't have to be Arakawa's kid, but they probably just went with that because they had already established that Arakawa left his prior arranged marriage violently earlier. It was a way to establish legitimacy of Ebina's grudge without introducing new people or nameless people we wouldn't care about.
You're right that it doesn't really matter.
I think it’s because he was meant to encounter Ichiban, and it’d work better since Ichiban would be attempting to fix his own fathers mistakes. Hell, he was already doing that at the start.
I would agree that Bryce's Evil Island didn't need to exist, or rather they dealt with it earlier and then merged groups and met up to tackle the Millennium Tower for the 3040056th time.
The whole cult thing was the lamest part of the story for me.
What they attempted with Kiryu really felt like "square peg in round hole". Ebina being "yakuza's mistakes that Kiryu needs to make up for" sort of works, but then Ichiban being his half-brother, trying to save the former yakuza, and needing to save Sawashiro on top of that, all of that fits the situation much better.
I don't have an issue with the Eiji resolution at the end, but rather how he was handled between that. His very last appearance prior to that point is him laughing at Ichiban as he stuffs Lani into a car. Then they offscreen him as the person in charge of transporting all the yakuza to Nele Island. Then he shows up as an injured bum that Ichiban saves.
It feels like they sliced off a whole middle section there. Like maybe he was meant to actually be a sub-boss prior to fighting Bryce, or something at least.
I don't know, LJ's Viper is god-tier. It's an homage to slasher soundtracks and I think it's one of the best, most thematic boss tracks they've ever done.
yeah it's fricking terrible. I hope they kill her off because I can't take another game of this shit ass running "gag", and I was a big Ichi Seiko shipper in 7
Just got to the part where Namba and the other guy rejoin the party. I've been mashing x during cutscenes so I have no clue whats going on with the story.
>I've been mashing x during cutscenes so I have no clue whats going on with the story.
don't worry you'll fit right in on Ganker then; just make sure to have very strong opinions about it.
Nah I never have an opinion about a game's story cause who fricking cares. I think people that talk about stories in games are losers. If I want story, I'll watch a show or movie. Games are about gameplay.
you post on Ganker; no one gives a shit who you think are losers. You ARE already a huge loser just by posting here. but let's be real you're not playing this game and you're shitposting and doing a bad job of it

it seems suspicious until you realize she was working for Eiji, and thus had Bryce's protection, the entire time which is not revealed until much later
it feels really out of place for characters in Yakuza to be pure
Saeko got split into two with her sister taking all the dickings
Chitose never touched anybody with the game explicitely telling you so
Saejima never killed anybody cuz rubber bullets
Kiryu never killed anybody cuz rubber explosions
Ichiban never killed anybody cuz he's literally Jesus, loves everybody and can do nothing wrong
even characters that most definitely had a killcount like Daigo or Majima are never ackgnowledged about it
it's funny, we see Majima literally stab a dude in the chest so hard in the Millennium Tower fight that blood spurts like a foot in the air from off screen
I'm on Chapter 11. I'm still massively hooked on Dondoko to the point where I'm on maybe $500k. Do I stop or keep going when considering end-game gear?
>1 guy >you need 1 cough drop tin which is like 10 minutes in the dungeon >you need either a fin or a tentacle which is either 10 minutes swimming or 1 hour of dungeon >then do a boss in a specific place on the map
you don't pay with money for high tier weapons so don't worry
also some 6* are better than 7* keep a lookout for bonuses and elements of your party (6* weapons are more expensive because you need to buy the most expensive weapon from the store)
Forgot to add: >I thought it was always a mini-game to make money like Y7 and Ichiban Confections.
7's best way to make money is farming the FMT with Nouveau Riche Crowns. Ichiban Holdings is just to tide you over until you can do that. You earn around 80 million a run.
If Bryce and a lot of the moronic Hawaii shit didn’t exist, maybe it’d be good, but the execution of it wasn’t very good, and I’d go on to argue that the game would’ve been better as another solo ichiban game, as opposed to dragging Kiryu’s old ass corpse into the mix.
Yeah, that’s when it started falling off. All the best moments were with both ichiban and Kiryu. There’s some other good stuff here and there, I did like some Akane scenes (specifically the beach scene) but you can argue that type of scene’s been done better before.
Joongi is actually shredded. He might be even more cut than Ichiban, but when he's got a shirt on he just looks like a little kpop homosexual with his winged eyeliner.
He talks about being fat in 7, but it sure isn't reflected here.
Way worse than Adachi though, is Nanba having a six-pack. They didn't even give him the more slender body that Tomi uses.
>two questions: how do I get enough money to be able to use poundmates alot?
you literally get infinite money post game >What is the endgame content of this game?
the big swell
>how do I get enough money to be able to use poundmates alot?
you should be getting plenty of money by the end of the game
if you are strapped for cash then i suggest giving a female companion Maid job for the vaccum skill
I wish they’d stop doing the “defeat my five scrimblos to save the day” stories for the big mini games
5 had good ones, but I dunno why they decided to rehash 0’s formula
I was fine with it in 8 but in Gaiden it felt out of place. It wasn't needed to have five big bads for the coliseum, just have one bad guy who you have to rise the ranks to beat.
Isn't everyone in this series built and/or shredded? I mean there's been some lardasses in substories but Kanda in 3 was full on bearmode at least iirc
WTF?? where is the tencent guys? where is the shills shills shills guys? where is the woke/pozzed guys? where is the slop guys? where is the le older is le better guys? where are the contrarians?
Does no shitposter care about this game? its not getting the same posts as Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate and Tears of the Kingdom.
How??? whats the magic barrier that defends and lets you talk about it without trolls?
There is too much stuff in this game. I'm like 50 hours in and have barely scratched the surface. I've been trying to do substories as soon as they're available but it's a constant stream. I played for 10 hours today and now I'm lying in bed wishing I wasn't tired so I could keep playing all night
>You don't get Han until the second to last chapter of the game
Whose smart idea was this? At that point I just wanted to finish the game so I didn't bother building bond and job rank to use him
Ichiban and Kiryu both have MC favoritism so they're objectively the best male characters.
Seonhee to my understanding is 8's Eri and has Han's speed on top of that.
Saeko's got a good stat spread, Barmaid is apparently good this time, and it also apparently has a great 7* weapon.
it's less mp on skills used. It's not even as good at Chef's. I saw some guy post a screen of israeliteelbreaker, which is a very strong move, but it had 3x STR up and def down on the enemy.
I have the class at 50 something and with a +50 weapon and it's not weak, but it's not Action Star.
Surely females not having access to Glory Awaits and Relentless Dragon's Dance knocks them down a bit, right?

so many ways to get attack up that I don't think the first matters, and the second never even mattered to me because I never have MP problems so I don't need to 'wait' a turn to save MP.
that said, dude jobs are stronger on the whole
It feels like it has more to do than 5 despite having less content than it. But if you still have LJ just wait for it to drop in price and if you're on console maybe the NG+ DLC will drop in price at the same time if you want that. RGG games drop in price within a few months nowadays (Like four months nowadays). LJ dropped to $20 within like three months on PS4 and around the same time on PS5, 7 dropped to $20 absurdly quickly, and I bought Ishin Kiwami PS5 for $20 maybe four months after it came out?
>we'll wait for you outside kiryu >just stand around and watch as shifty truck driver videotapes the entire Jima conversation
what did they think he was doing
>True King and Professor Morikasa's teams are worse than the three guys before them. >Neither uses Suji Surfer or Suji Bear. >Morikasa doesn't even have a Kiwami.
Also >despite the rest of the game being fan wank, they can’t even show Kiryu meeting haruka onscreen
Guess they really want to stretch it out to 9, fricking c**ts
Ichi's friends are the ones who already understand the value of being physically and emotionally present for their friends, while the Jimas are the ones who initially refused to join Kiryu in this game's fight. Kiryu goes to the hospital with the people who insisted on standing by him this whole time, while Majima, Saejima, and Daigo stay behind; the physical distance between them visually represents their emotional distance from each other.
It's also worth noting that there's a sort of "generational gap" between the Jimas and the Yokohama crew, or you could say there's a distinctly different kind of bond between Kiryu and his old companions versus Kiryu and his new companions. Kiryu's Yokohama friends--people who've connected with him through their mutual fondness for Ichiban--are the kinds of friends that follow you to the hospital; Kiryu's old Tojo companions--people he connected with through oaths and circumstances that no longer exist--were never the kind of "friends" that follow you to the hospital, and don't feel that it's their place to do so now.
I disagree, if they really felt that way, they wouldn’t have shown up at all or have been worried for him. There’s also that connection Daigo and Kiryu have (the father bullshit) so for them to outright drop this shit despite all they’ve done together is absolutely atrocious.
>Daigo, and the Jima’s don’t accompany Kiryu to the hospital >ichi’s sloppy seconds do
What the frick
reading too much into it. The only people who were waiting in that scene was Haruka and Haruto waiting to meet Kiryu for the first time in years
They didn't show anything else and the scene was short.
The father-son bond between Kiryu and Daigo has never actually existed. Kiryu said it once and Daigo sort of clings to it, but they never actually developed that relationship. It was stupid for Kiryu to ever bring it up.
There's a difference between the person who "drops everything at the moment to ride in the ambulance" and the person who "shows up to visit when they're aware you're in the hospital".
You could look at the ending of 8 and assume that the Jimas stay back to deal with Ebina and whatnot (especially because they're already experienced with cleaning up after a yakuza showdown at the Millennium Tower), but they're also simply less fit than the Yokohama crew to play the emotional support roles in that moment.
The game literally shows Nanba, Seonhee, Zhao, and Saeko all in the helicopter with Kiryu, then running alongside his stretcher up until he passes through the doors into the ICU.
i want to believe that they would be there if they could, so i am going to cope and believe that daidoji only allowed haruka and haruto to see him OR it was just an oversight by rgg
>works with people in 4 >works with people in 5 while making a point that he’s hot friends willing to help him >is constantly fighting alongside others in 6 >this lone wolf stuff Kiryu-san stooop
-_-
For people who are dumb enough to grind the Sujimon Stadium for all the items this is how you should do it: >Challenge League
You want to play Power Challenge. It's 6600 per win and takes like three minutes with absolutely zero effort. >Team
Kiwami Gold, Kiwami Violet, Kiwami Green. The only reserve you need is another Kiwami Violet or probably even Kiwami Blue. All you do is go to Kiwami Violet and mash X. That's it. You may or may not die to Suji Bear in the final wave but that's what your second Kiwami Violet is for.
Divine League for 10k takes like four times as long.
I can't really see a reason to use most of the MVB DLC characters over the Kiwamis. >Kiryu is a 10 speed faster Kiwami Red for 25 less damage and a worse special attack while Zhao is a better Suji Surfer in Blaze but it's up to you if you like dealing 40ish less damage than Kiwami Red for more speed which can typically kill stuff even if it's 8 vs. 7. >Han is a far faster than Kiwami Blue but has 140 less health. His 339 attack is also way lower than the 391 of Kiwami Blue. Sure, he has a 6 instead of Kiwami Blue's 7 and 50 more speed, but Kiwami Blue in general use will probably be better overall. >Chitose is weaker and slower than Kiwami Green and the only benefit is a 1 MP heal over KG's 2 MP while Nanba a better Suji Surfer for Nature but at endgame Kiwami Green would very like be a better use of your team slot. >Saeko is probably better than Kiwami Gold because of the 7 SP attack but Adachi is basically a worse Suji Bear for Light. You're typically not using Light attacks and Kiwami Gold heals. >Seonhee is pointless compared to Kiwami Violet especially for her attack cost, but Eric is a good Shadow Suji Surfer if you need one.
I don't know about the bear or the tiger because I didn't buy that DLC, but it feels like you already got a great setup just with the Kiwamis.
I use Seonhee and Han on the side for speed and Tiger for damage, it also has 250 speed do you have almost 800 speed and do insane damage. Tiger is only beaten in damage by Saejima who is slow as balls.
Just a team full of each flavor of Kiwami. It's more than enough for everything. You can throw Suji Bear or Surfer into there if you want.
Whoops, you said "items". I think the Kunoichi knife is the only thing worth it for the point you reach it but that's about it. It'll still take you like an hour of grinding to buy it.
Just checked the crafting list, it looks like the Kunoichi's sword from it is used for Kunoichi's ultimate weapon. The other 4* weapons for Linebacker and Action Star are just random weapons.
Update on this strategy, if you have two Kiwami Greens you don't even need a reserve team. KG/KV/KG is enough to solo to the entire thing with no one dying. The last three enemies don't even get a turn.
The Yokoyama self-insert hair grew on me for a depressed Kiryu that wanted to die, and it allowed that kino moment wherehe slicks it back again to show that he regains his resolve and his name. So I'm glad they didn't end up going with pic related.
I feel you actually lose even more than usual by playing dubbed Infinite Wealth. In the Japanese version the Japanese characters speak in Japanese while the Americans actually speak English, its great for immersion. I do think they should have cast two voice actors (one for each language) for characters who speak both like Tomizawa though, his voice actor is really struggling with the English lines as that video shows
You miss out on way more immersion when you're listening to a language you're not fluent in. The nuance of word choice and vocal tone is lost on you; this shit is language science 101. You can't even gauge the acting performance quality of a language you don't speak. >inb4 some EOP weeb insists he's seen enough anime to know when the acting is good or not
Save it, brainlet.
>Kiryu's parents were actually enemies of Arakawa which is why Kazama had to kill them. >Ichiban is tasked with finding out the truth. >it turns out they were best friends with Arakawa and Kazama didn't kill them himself, but he led to their deaths so he "killed" them. >Ichiban now has to save Kiryu from a 60 year keikaku by Kazama's enemies in the Daidoji.
Kiryu should be the next main protagonist and spend time with his children especially Daigo. You can have some Ichi stuff on the side but his story is pretty much over. Oh yeah with brawler combat but actually good, like 6 but even more technical.
You literally cannot lose the game with Cheetoes Geodancer on your team. >every round get a random buff >heal HP on buff >heal MP on buff >infinite MP so cast all the best buffs and heals forever (the 75 MP heal is the strongest in the game and removes all debuffs at all ranges) >take that agility debuff from her Heiress class which is the only debuff really worth casting on bosses, trivializes everything
now there's an argument to be made that nothing in the game requires this level of support power because the game is extremely easy, which is kind of true but the class has like 550 Magic at 50 anyways so nuke away/
It's not my favourite, not nearly as good as the judgments', but there's some highlights, mainly with all the tracks made for the side content
Like all the soundtracks I at least appreciate how big they are and all the composers they got to contribute to it
>CH1: Broad Daylight >CH2: Foreigner/Stranger/Goy >CH3: Until We Meet Again >CH4: Imitation Gold >CH5: Enchanted >CH6: Lamentation >CH7: Beautifully Burning Forest >CH8: Rewrite >CH9: Lie/Lies >CH10: True Face/Nature of the Storm >CH11: After the Festival (word can also refer to online shaming/flaming) >CH12: Powdery Snow >CH13: Atonement >CH14: Overflowing/Excess Fortune/Wealth (INFINITE WEALTH)
>try the eng dub >"eh its not so bad i dont know why people are crying about this'" >kyriu walks in >mfw
apart from ichiban, nanba, adachi etc basically the main bros, the voice acting is painful
Kiryu's is literally the only shitty voice of the main cast. Nanba and Saeko are of questionable quality, but Ichiban, Adachi, Zhao, Chitose, and Seonhee are all particularly great.
Kiryu's is literally the only shitty voice of the main cast. Nanba and Saeko are of questionable quality, but Ichiban, Adachi, Zhao, Chitose, and Seonhee are all particularly great.
Fun Fact: Yongyea improvs lines in order to try to make Kiryu sound more like a 'Badass'. Each time he does it, it sounds fricking cringe.
Takaya told the guy to just act like a gentleman and he decided to ignore it.
>Yong Yea's 'nuance' and 'word choice' >I drink whiskey neat because I like the burn
lmao
lol
>Kiryu admits to having cancer and how he isn't well >Yongyea decides "I know how to push myself" wasn't a good enough line for him >"I CAN STILL HAUL ASS" sounds much better
That's unfortunate and embarrassing if true. Contrast Yea's performance with Zhao's, where his skillful effort to recreate Zhao's vocal pattern's is obvious and effective, and it's frustrating that a character like Kiryu wasn't given to a more competent voice actor. Yea's affectation for Kiryu's voice bothers me even more than his misreads; I wish ENG Kiryu had an actor who could make his lines sound as natural as Tang makes Ichiban's.
You run through the three dungeons, get the ultimate weapons, and you're good to go. The level recommendation isn't true because one guy here went into it at I think he said 56 or something and one fight threw him to the 60s with Legend very quickly leveling you up in general.
Even though it doesn't say "never misses" in the description, I think Scum Scraper is programmed to never miss, since I've hit even 3 Agility and Evasion enemies with it all the time.
I have taken a step back which is why 7 dropped a tier for me just due to all of 8's improvements that really show how much I was willing to excuse for 7.
Gaiden was a great game that was focused on exactly what it needed to be with the fault mainly lying in how absurdly overpowered you can get and basic enemies can't keep up since it feels like they balanced it towards the coliseum more than anything. Professional was an actual difficulty that felt properly balanced for a majority of its time unless you went out of your way to start grinding the coliseum. You also finally had enemy encounters that had more than like five enemies even early on.
As I said, 8 is tentative. Maybe the story will bring it down for me but currently it's got a lot of content, varied content, the gameplay is a big refinement on what 7 was, Hawaii is a great new map that feels like it's appropriately sized with lots of varied areas compared to Yokohama, and so far it hasn't overstayed its welcome.
>Saejima's exploration is pure cancer. >Tanimura's section is extremely short and while his parrying style is fun he feels just slightly stronger than Shinada. >Tanimura's final boss if you don't know about the Sacred Tree Set's existence or haven't gotten it.
It's a good game, but I really hate Saejima's exploration. Those police blockades are awful and you have to go to the sewers way too much.
My SON u must choose:
smooth jazz ducet tones of Kuroda
or
raspy 30 year old manlet doing a feigned tough guy voice that sounds like a 12 year old doing a Christian Bale Batman impression
I love Kuroda's voice and I used the Reminisce feature to re-listen to all of Kiryu's walk-and-talks in Japanese, but I still played the game in English first, primarily for Ichiban.
>Do guest stars generally reprise their roles?
Yes but they almost never did reoccurring face actors until recently. Baba reprised his role in Ishin and then until Judgment no one else did. Nanba even coming back for 8 was a surprise let alone Sawashiro, and then you had the 0 crew coming back for Ishin Kiwami which, again, was unexpected.
Currently grinding Sujimon Stadium, only need like 12k more points to have purchased all weapons + a duplicate of the Kunoichi weapon + the one time items. Only took like two hours surprisingly enough. Then I need to go back to Sicko Snap and Crazy Eats because I just realized I won't have a duplicate copy of the upgrade weapons. Then I can finally move on to actually getting jobs before Dondoko Island hell overtakes me.
Can I toss two fairy lei on my bench member and still get the rewards? Is it even worth it?
Do Leis apply their item drop effect when you have benched party members as well or do they need to be in the party?
Nouveau Riche Helmets worked while benched in 7 so I imagine they work.
Ah, right, I forgot about the Nouveau Riche Crown farming in 7. You're right, I'm just getting subpar drops with or without the Leis in the party it looks like.
Yo busterbeam since I know you're lurking; i'm the one who's been making these posts. I wanted to apologize if I made you uncomfortable; I didn't know you were dealing with legit stalkers and don't wanna contribute to them. I've just been stirring shit because I'm bored and a giant shithead. I disagree with your criticisms but I honestly don't care, my love for the series isn't dependent on a critic's opinions, even one I respect. Hell, seeing your thoughts on the games gave me more stuff to think about anyway. I won't be making inflammatory shitposts like this anymore. Sorry bud.[/spoilers]
I don't think they needed to change the joke here and make it feel so arbitrary. Most of the audience of a Japanese product like this, that's set primarily in Japan, consisting of Japanese characters is going to at least know the words corresponding to numbers.
Maybe I'm overstating the saturation of that knowledge because I'm biased because my dad taught karate at the local YMCA, but I don't think it's that high of an expectation for such a simple joke that would justify itself in the context like the "Same da ne" joke in the other table talk.
I have some dumb questions but neede to ask:
So this is the official sequel to Yakuza 7 Like A Dragon? (Asking because they didn't officially call it 8, it just seems hinted)
And is it the same combat system and gameplay style of 7?
Does it have all the minigames and stuff like 7?
>So this is the official sequel to Yakuza 7 Like A Dragon?
Yes, it's 8 everywhere but the west. >And is it the same combat system and gameplay style of 7?
Yes. >Does it have all the minigames and stuff like 7?
Ichiban Confections is gone and there's new minigames.
[...]
But you need that dlc that adds ng+ to unlock it yeah?
Thanks for answering and aawwwww man the business minigame is my favorite. I love the concept too, the ability to just get rich and buy everything in the game. More games need that.
>>So this is the official sequel to Yakuza 7 Like A Dragon? (Asking because they didn't officially call it 8, it just seems hinted)
Yeah, the infinity symbol is supposed to be 8 >And is it the same combat system and gameplay style of 7?
Not exactly the same but basically yeah. >Does it have all the minigames and stuff like 7?
Mostly. Ichiban Confections is gone but there are several new minigames.
Surprisingly the translation is close, but the squid takes a more condescending tone in the English dub against gamers than the Japanese dub. This was machine TL'd, and you can compare it here: https://youtu.be/tk5tCSFJIMw?t=5209
Game Master:
Amazing, human...
I was disappointed with people these days...
We hurt each other over silly things on social media, and we hurt others to satisfy our desire for approval...
When there's something about a game that they don't like, they immediately give it a bad review, complain about it even though they haven't played it, or give spoilers...
I've lost my affection for people these days who have lost that good old "bond"...
Ichiban:
He's pretty knowledgeable about the latest Internet and game situations...
Kiryu:
Well, I guess that's why he's the Game Master.
Game Master:
However, you all worked so hard to reach this point and defeated me. From you guys, I felt strongly the "bonds" that humans are forgetting.
Trust and respect each other... In times of crisis, we help each other and work together to fight against evil that is stronger than ourselves.
Only those with a true bond can do that.
Your bond was wonderful. Your adventure this time ends here.
But someday... The day will come when your bonds will save the world again, I believe.
Until that day comes... Take care of your precious bonds and friends.
Let's meet again someday... Be brave like dragons!
DID I JUST MISS OUT ON BIG SWELL BY COMPLETING THE GAME BEFORE I FOUND IT, I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO GET TO IT, WHAT DO I DO
am i gonna have to replay ng+ to get to it
Higher tier raids and better items from the various machines.
If you win the Stadium's Divine League you get a funny piece of dialogue.
Oh, and you get a 5* bat for Hero that's fire, does AoE swings, and ignores block. It's an upgrade from the electric 3* variant of that you get from gambling.
Kiryu's stoy will NEVER end, we just have to accept it by now. Plus I enjoyed Kiryu's bonding with Ichiban's crew, he seemed he enjoys himself way more than with his old yakuza nakamas
Am I doing something wrong but why does it feel so painfully slow to level up? Sometimes I beat a battle and the guys were about the same level as me, sometimes even a few levels higher. In the end I barely see the level up meters move at all. This has been consistently happening and for some reason Tomizawa is lagging behind a lot. I really don't get it.
How early in the game are you? Enemies pretty early on won't give much XP so, even if the level difference is bigger, you won't be getting as much. Just do some random fights until you can Smackdown most of the map and/or continue with the story.
Because it's called "Diminishing returns". Enemies will only give a certain amount of EXP and JP so that you can't overlevel even if you hammer battles to the point it takes like 30+ battles to level once. The only way to get around this is by fighting enemies your same level, but those are usually few and far between. Even if you fight stuff your same level they also make enemies only give enough EXP for like one or two level ups and then you hit that diminishing returns threshold again.
You probably didn't notice this but 7 had this far more egregiously. In 8 chapter 1 only lets you get to 11 and 4 or 6, I can't remember, chapter 3 was something like 18 and 9, chapter 4 was 23 and 12, and chapter 5 is like 27 and 14. If you ever notice you're not leveling up after like 5-10 battles it's because you're at the chapter's limit. They got rid of this in 7 once you hit chapter 11 for example because everything from 11 onward is the last time the world changes states and the enemies that are there will be there even into PA.
>tfw amon 4 man assault
The frick is this bullshit? I eventually beat it just by spamming aoe poundmates, debuffs and heavy attacks but damn I figured that I'd be able to beat him at a level lower the 58. How overleveled am I for the story at this point? Chapter 12.
Ichiban actively works to undermine any natural appeal he has. Every time you see him outside of normal gameplay or cutscenes he's pulling some Jim Carrey ass expression and he intentionally dresses and wears his hair like a paranoid schizophrenic even though he isn't. He has naturally very deep and powerful eyes, which are augmented by the eyeliner he's very clearly wearing even though nothing about him suggests he would ever even think of using it.
He isn't. Seeing Sujimon is established to be a relatively common thing, and it's presented as a skill which exists in those of a heroic mindset. Kiryu starts seeing the people who attack him on the street as Sujimon because he's taking a more strategic mindset. Ichiban just set the example for him.
Thing is that Ichiban also sees sea animals attacking him, random construction equipment being out to get him, thinks it's okay to wander around with a spiked baseball bat, and so forth. Ichiban's friends also don't see the Sujimon even in 8 despite them addressing the topic again, Kiryu's situation is purely for gameplay purposes, and as far as we know it's literally just schizophrenic bum fights since almost every person who participates in it is mentally unhinged in some way. The guy who takes them on vacations is like the sole "normal" person in that entire group of trainers. Even during the Sujimon Stadium introduction Kiryu sort of just treats Ichiban like he knew some weird people.
The giant shark and the squid on Nele Island were real though.
And you can't just turn hallucinations on and off. Even in cultures that don't stigmatize hallucinations as much, they never just go away. But we know for sure that Ichiban will usually see the people he's fighting as they really are when he's not in a random street fight, such as when they're in the Seiryu Clan office or in some substories where he has some familiarity with the people he's fighting for one reason or another.
S - K2, 0
A - 7, J
B - 5, 6, LJ
C - K1, 4
D - Gaiden, 3
Dropped - Ishin
Kiwami of 5 would be S tier, Kiwami of 4 would be A tier
>Kiwami 2 >S tier >ISHYGDDT.
It's B tier at best, and I'm not one of the autists complaining about them cutting out Shinseicho either.

2 has the best story in the series, K2 improves all the gameplay. That simple.

That's fair. But the green filter and weird hybridization of 2's gameplay with 6's just makes it feel worse than 6 to me. I know I'm the odd one out here, but I'd actually rank 6 as an A.
And I just noticed you put Judgement over Lost Judgement. I don't know how you can go further than putting them in the same tier even if you didn't like Lost Judgement's story as much. Judgement had so many little QoL problems it's a wonder it got a sequel at all.

Story is most important thing for me with Yakuza. LS is a better game but J is a much better story. It's not as much of a drastic gap between story and overall game quality like 4 and 5 are.

It's pretty obvious Ichiban sees stuff no one else does and his friends find that really weird. 7 played up this fact when he gets Hero and starts seeing Sujimon while 8 does the same in both the demo and with Adachi calling him out on it. Kiryu's is only ever addressed in gameplay aspects so that's handwaved. Ichiban is clearly not all there, the man is literally scooping stuff out of toilets to enhance his weapons and even has dialogue about it. Obviously they're playing it for laughs, I get it, because he doesn't act like this at all in the actual serious stuff.
>Dead Souls this low
moron.
>Garbage combat that actively encourages you to stop doing anything but hipfiring because of how unwieldy it is. >Story doesn't exist outside of Ryuji's part and Majima getting people to safety with Daigo. >Final boss (The character, not the fight) is honestly on par with Kenzan for being the worst in the series. >Ryuji's Kamurocho is cancer. >Hostesses are also cancer. >Partners need you to grind for a solid 30 minutes running the same courses in GBH's boot camp if you want them to even land shots on zombies more than once a minute. >Like 90% of the substories are a complete wash and the only good ones at all are two of Majima's and I guess the Kaoru one for Ryuji. >In order to fight Amon you need to go through 145 or so floors of the same procgen underground map to the point that you learn how it's generated within 20 floors of running it so you ignore all of it to beeling towards the exit for hours. >Amon himself can one-shot you making you run another 40 floors if you don't survive long enough to actually unlock him. >Runs at a silky smooth 18 FPS with constant drops as soon as fire appears (Which is always because of molotov zombies). >QTE timing is tied to difficulty and Ex-Hard/Dead Souls difficulty is less than a second of reaction time.
I have no idea how anyone can rate it highly.

I think people like Dead Souls so much despite it being objectively pretty bad because its concept is so strong and the characterization of all the major characters is at its most extreme. Outside of Dead Souls, we've never gotten a zombie plot where it isn't actually the end of the world and things are broadly under control. Where the driving force of the story isn't survival but the effort to do the right thing in the face of overwhelming danger and unforeseen circumstances. It's just a fundamentally different take on a genre that was already worn out half way through its run.
Please just kill off Kiryu so he doesn't ever come back, the story just gets more and more moronic. Why can't they just get the writer who did Kiwami?
I'd like to see a game about what Kiryu was doing between 1989 and 1995 to get in such good standing as to be a shoe-in for a prestigious position with the Tojo Clan despite being expelled and completely disrespecting the power structure to get back in. And to keep that esteem despite going down for killing the chairman, to the point that Nishkiyama is seen as simply filling his seat until he comes back. What the frick did Kiryu do to be the coolest, most respected guy in the whole clan?

>and the characterization of all the major characters is at its most extreme
I can see where you're coming from with Majima, but the rest of the crew? Ryuji is just a normal Ryuji that isn't leading the Yakuza, Kiryu stops being a boyscout almost immediately to go back to serious stoicism like usual, and Akiyama acts like normal.
I don't mind Dead Souls from the aspect of them trying something different and I want to see them do more stuff like it, but I mind it as an actual game. It's just painful to play through and becomes more and more boring as you play it while continually asking for more and more tedious actions if you are actually trying to participate in its side content. Even if you play on Dead Souls difficulty to milk some sort of difficulty out of it all you get is stunlocks you can't escape 80% of.

>Kiryu's is only ever addressed in gameplay aspects so that's handwaved.
They could just say the cancer is causing him to hallucinate
i mean people do say that he is handsome, but his hair is so fricked up that it's hard to look past for most people unless they spend a lot of time around him
>gets your series hijacked by some old fart >never get to fight final boss which is your own brother >your crazy cult joining mom ditched you again >ending is Kiryu's adventure with Chemotherapy >never get an ending of your own
It really does suck to be Ichiban.
It was never Itchiban's series. Don't worry, his story will get resolved as a side character in the game. Now that Nagoshi left the real main character can step up to the plate again.
Ichiban's ending is developing his character and getting out of his own head. Before the Hawaii story, he didn't actually understand what love was and treated it the same as loyalty and duty.
It was never Itchiban's series. Don't worry, his story will get resolved as a side character in the game. Now that Nagoshi left the real main character can step up to the plate again.
Kiryu literally looks worst in the last scene of the game. He looks like he's at death's door and I don't even mean after the final fight. He looks like someone dying of cancer. And the most ridiculous part is the convoluted way they gave him the cancer because it couldn't just be because he an alcoholic that smokes 10 packs a day.
He didn't get the cancer from less than 5 minutes of exposure from low level waste. He says this outright, that the doctor told him there was no chance that it was the cause. All that exposure did was prompt the scan that found the cancer he already had. Chemo and immunotherapies beat the frick out of people, of course he looks weak and frail. Once he's in remission in 9 he'll be back to normal.
Nah the part with Eiji is moronic, why let that stupid little shit beat on your for free like that?
Ichiban's entire life has been devoted to paying forward the blind faith Arakawa put in him.
Ichiban makes one decision to trust someone and lives with it. He chose to trust Eiji at the beginning and Eiji proved his faith to be well placed. Ichiban chooses to believe that Eiji can genuinely embody the character he was playing to gain his trust.
whenever he opened up a little the only thing he'd talk about was fitness/dieting. you could just tell he was secretly a weirdo and the bond bingo just confirms that. also he got herpes
>Why can't they just get the writer who did Kiwami?
Anon, the Kiwami team developed Gaiden. It sincerely doesn't offer much outside of recycled content. The new content is very weird.
Even though they used the term "cold sores", I thought they were supposed to be talking about canker sores. Do cold sores hurt when a person with one eats certain things?
Cold sores and canker sores are the same thing, or that's what my parents taught me. They're those tiny beads that appear randomly on your tongue or in your mouth that are annoying and ever so slightly painful.
I thought so as well, but apparently cold sores are on the outside of the mouth, generally on the lip, while canker sores are the ones that appear on your tongue.
Even though they used the term "cold sores", I thought they were supposed to be talking about canker sores. Do cold sores hurt when a person with one eats certain things?
Cold sores are blisters, so anything hot or acidic would hurt as well, but I don't think it would hamper you eating food like canker sores would. It may be a translation error.

>7 >Essences >Little damage.
They are literally the strongest attacks in the game for single hit damage and for AoE. There's only a very small select few attacks that out damage them like Darts Airstrike, Head Trauma, and Paralysis Prongs.
>be Kiryu >villain responsible for multiple deaths >please don't die >also Kiryu >throws homeless people into storm drains >blows up a helicopter of people who are just doing their job
Majima-chan looking drippy
>MORE THREADS!!!!
Ok, but who asked?
>NOOOO YOU CAN ONLY MAKE FINAL FANTASY THREADS
have a nice day
Assuming Yamai returns in 9, what kind of tattoo is he gonna have? It would be too uncool for him not to have one at all, because if he returns he needs to have a shirtless fight with Ichiban.
He won’t have one
I won't accept this reality.
if he had one I'd imagine something like a cold blood snake irezumi
isnt he rotting in some random jail in japan now?
whatever Japanese deity loves big old b***hes
Yamai doesn't need them to be big, he just needs them to be old and have shitty selfish personalities. He's got the weirdest case of emotional masochism going on.
Is there a fire god like fuujin or raijin? Probably one of those.
Some kind of hannya oni cause his face looks like one
Can’t wait for the next brawler to come out, since the threads will actually be decent
>Can’t wait for the next brawler to come out
Or the Lad 8 brawler mod.
Dragon of Dojima falls of so hard late game what jobs are you guys using for kiryu?
>Dragon of Dojima falls of so hard late game
only when you get ultimate weapons. I'd assume it'd catch up again if you get the job level up as it gets way more stats from job level than other jobs
Essence of Dragon God is good enough to spam for aoe; komaki master inflicts rage which makes him a good tank especially if you have his exculsive armor and the sea god talisman so he takes no damage with good guard timings
does sea god talisman even work with this?
The damage reduction wouldn't work obviously since you completely dodge the attack but it does make dodging easier by increasing the guard window since sea god talisman decreases it
I want to FRICK Saeko if you know what I mean
I want Saeko to frick me with a strapon.
>what did ichiban mean by this?
>yes and for the stinger in the MV we're gonna greenscreen Saeko kissing herself
>I'm shivering
>Go into an in-game sex shop
>See exactly what those weapons are
Pretty fricked up. Yet not as fricked up as picking a class that isn't Kunoichi. Kunoichi's Substitute Jutsu combined with their agility means you are spamming turns with your most powerful character (Samurai).
>most powerful character (Samurai)
>ultimate weapon is extended debuff time
lol
ichiban if he adapted by netflix

KEK mad because he knows he fits the bill. Imagine being dumber than a Redditor.
No one wants to hear it, but media illiteracy is incredibly prevalent among gaymers today.
but like...how? Look, I understand if it's something complicated that was made to make people really think and examine the work, but this story wasn't meant to be that.
It was written to be very earnest, honest, and only assumes you've played the previous games and 7 especially.
>
>5 lines of text is too much for the kind of moron who didn't understand a simple video game story
yeah that tracks
Forcing the Ichiban "muh grey" themes onto Kiryu doesn't work.
It was clearly an Ichiban scene but Kiryu has to have the final boss and scene because the devs are pussies
>Even REDDIT got it.
Ok Redditor, you can back to your sub and enjoy the low quality memes there. It`s your place.
>he's still mad
see
I don't have an issue with the Eiji resolution at the end, but rather how he was handled between that.
Like maybe he was meant to actually be a sub-boss prior to fighting Bryce, or something at least.
it's because they should've dealt with him instead of a shark and squid battle on Cultist Island. That whole portion of the game was dumb
AAAAAAOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO
AAAAAAOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO
For me it's
ah frick, I need to finish Judgment 2 after IW
might as well start from the beginning
>still remains the best game RGG ever produced
how did they make Judgment so KINO
I still think this is one of RGG's best looking openings.
best OST too
I don't know, LJ's Viper is god-tier. It's an homage to slasher soundtracks and I think it's one of the best, most thematic boss tracks they've ever done.
I'LL BE BY YOUR SIDE BECAUSE I AM YOUR SONG
I need J3 bros
KINO.
Chitosex
>ruined her hair
but why...
>Short hair.
>Ruined.
her hair
fixed you mean
>I wish for Ichiban to plow me daily and to have his children
What did she mean by this?
>ruined
At least there was an actual reason for the change and she didn't just cut her hair for its own sake.
I dont think I have ever, once, heard someone be THIS wrong.
TREACHERY JUST FLOWS IN HER VEINS
>I was just pretending to be moronic
uh-huh LOL
So they're just going to run with saeko being mad evertyime ichiban does something gag every game from now on huh
yeah it's fricking terrible. I hope they kill her off because I can't take another game of this shit ass running "gag", and I was a big Ichi Seiko shipper in 7
I'll also be hoping that they just kill her off instead.
Just got to the part where Namba and the other guy rejoin the party. I've been mashing x during cutscenes so I have no clue whats going on with the story.
>I've been mashing x during cutscenes so I have no clue whats going on with the story.
don't worry you'll fit right in on Ganker then; just make sure to have very strong opinions about it.
i'm not gonna sit through boring wordslop movie scenes in a videogame
>I'm going to skip the story in a story based game that is a super long send off to the entire story based series
BASED moron
>send off
right, this time it's a send off for sure
>spend 5 hours tracking down memories of all the other games in the series
Hopefully someone who has played the game, so not you, sis
>send off
Errrrrr…. Who’s gonna tell her?
Nah I never have an opinion about a game's story cause who fricking cares. I think people that talk about stories in games are losers. If I want story, I'll watch a show or movie. Games are about gameplay.
you post on Ganker; no one gives a shit who you think are losers. You ARE already a huge loser just by posting here.
but let's be real you're not playing this game and you're shitposting and doing a bad job of it
Just don’t reply to him?
nah, I'm a shitposter too and baiting the baiters is just too fun. I win. He loses.
Uh huh
you bait people by wasting time writing essays trying to defend a shitty story?
I haven't written anything longer than a line yet, tard bro
Nah story's great and you suck dicks professionally for a living.
Kid, how come you're a little b***h? Did a single mom raise you?
>I am skipping the storry completely haha JRPG gameplay ONLY haha
>get laughed at
>baawwww KID
get fricked, moron
>storry
>heh looks like you had a typo looks like I win
what a pussy homosexual you are KEK
You got BTFO dude.
>no u
get fricked moron
*smooch*
I think all the new karaoke songs are really solid except for Summertime Groove. I don't really like the flow of Summertime Groove.
Thats funny, Summertime Groove is probably my favorite. I think Awake sucks
how can you not love goth sa-chan?
The movie is alright but I don't really like the song
daily reminder that chitose got bukkake'd by 50 homeless ojisans in district five
all that matters is the one time she got bukkake'd by ME
lovely couple <3
me on the left
chitose is pure
petite japanese b***h in hawaiis most dangerous hood and nothing happened? I call bullshit
it seems suspicious until you realize she was working for Eiji, and thus had Bryce's protection, the entire time which is not revealed until much later
She looks like the kind of b***h that only like bad boys, you incels have no chance with her lol.
cope! chitose loves nice dorky guys like ichiban
That's only by IRL standards. Chitose isn't bound by those since she isn't real.
it feels really out of place for characters in Yakuza to be pure
BTW the best girl is the big tit bikini top chick that comes to dondoko island. I think she's an actress.
I'm on Chapter 11. I'm still massively hooked on Dondoko to the point where I'm on maybe $500k. Do I stop or keep going when considering end-game gear?
500k is almost 1 7* weapon
???
you beat up 1 guy then pay 140k to upgrade the 5* to 7* weapon. It's not even close to 500k
>1 guy
>you need 1 cough drop tin which is like 10 minutes in the dungeon
>you need either a fin or a tentacle which is either 10 minutes swimming or 1 hour of dungeon
>then do a boss in a specific place on the map
you don't pay with money for high tier weapons so don't worry
also some 6* are better than 7* keep a lookout for bonuses and elements of your party (6* weapons are more expensive because you need to buy the most expensive weapon from the store)
Ok so keep going. I'll probably go for $2M.
You'll earn more by doing the dungeons, but if you enjoy Dondoko, you can play that to get some money on the side.
dont use dondoko island to grind for money you'd better off farming high tier dungeon
Do you get more from dungeon? I thought it was always a mini-game to make money like Y7 and Ichiban Confections.
>Do you get more from dungeon?
You can vacuum 50k per battle via a maid skill and endgame or NG+ earn you 100kish a fight.
Forgot to add:
>I thought it was always a mini-game to make money like Y7 and Ichiban Confections.
7's best way to make money is farming the FMT with Nouveau Riche Crowns. Ichiban Holdings is just to tide you over until you can do that. You earn around 80 million a run.
I'm gay as frick
For whomst?
Imagine expending a single brain cell on this shit story after Wong and Hanawa die doing and saying quite literally nothing
Wong isn't important and Hanawa isn't important. Sorry that Hanawa didn't die shooting two AKs in the air at a helicopter.
I'm pretty sure I have a good handle on where the story is going so spoilers are whatever but do you not end up going to save Wong's son?
You do save Wong's son, but only because Chitose happens to remember that the child exists and saving him can done along the way to Bryce's house.
>shit story
moron the story is perfect
If Bryce and a lot of the moronic Hawaii shit didn’t exist, maybe it’d be good, but the execution of it wasn’t very good, and I’d go on to argue that the game would’ve been better as another solo ichiban game, as opposed to dragging Kiryu’s old ass corpse into the mix.
It's mostly a kiryu game it feels like
It’s another “sendoff”
8 and Gaiden outsold 7 in japan, so you can bet your ass they’re keeping him around.
The game would have been better if it went solo in either direction. The split party shit was just executed badly.
Yeah, that’s when it started falling off. All the best moments were with both ichiban and Kiryu. There’s some other good stuff here and there, I did like some Akane scenes (specifically the beach scene) but you can argue that type of scene’s been done better before.
filtered. how is the execution not good? the execution is literally perfect. this is the greatest yakuza game ever made.
>heh, I bait the baiters and win by wasting my time too!
Put a fricking trip on, homosexual
you got BTFO, get over it instead of crying about it constantly like a little b***h baby
I’m not who you’re thinking of, I just think you’re an insufferable homosexual for derailing threads over stupid shit
Not replying after this
HOLLLYYYYY FUAAAAARKKKK HUNK OF A MAN
the normal/golden swimmies are better
bonus points for linebacker
old guy in skimpy swimsuit tackling people is KINO
mirin hard
Upgrade your toaster, please. Adachi's body hair looks like swarming insects.
MOGGED
Joongi is actually shredded. He might be even more cut than Ichiban, but when he's got a shirt on he just looks like a little kpop homosexual with his winged eyeliner.
yeah seonhee mentioned that he works out like crazy everyday its just he looks dyel with a shirt on
you'd think that, because of his age, Adachi would be a bit chubby
but he is fully BUILT
>Put Tomizawa in a swimsuit
>Despite being a middle-aged cab driver, he is built
Pretty shocking for someone that can't fight without a weapon.
I think it’s because they can’t model fat without it looking terrible
DE fat guys look like they’re wearing fat suits
He talks about being fat in 7, but it sure isn't reflected here.
Way worse than Adachi though, is Nanba having a six-pack. They didn't even give him the more slender body that Tomi uses.
i love joongi so much bros, and seonghui too. i want more korean characters to play as
hey cant forget hancheol! I love all my geomijul homies
you might not like it
but he is talking sense here
what a man (he's literally me)
i wish they would get another korean actor that can speak japanese like they did for nishitani III (kim jae-uck)
>not strongfat
Ruined
nothing is funnier than a homeless guy breakdancing
two questions: how do I get enough money to be able to use poundmates alot?
What is the endgame content of this game?
>how do I get enough money to be able to use poundmates alot?
Dungeons and Dondoko Island
>What is the endgame content of this game?
Dungeons
>two questions: how do I get enough money to be able to use poundmates alot?
you literally get infinite money post game
>What is the endgame content of this game?
the big swell
>how do I get enough money to be able to use poundmates alot?
you should be getting plenty of money by the end of the game
if you are strapped for cash then i suggest giving a female companion Maid job for the vaccum skill
Should’ve brought back Raiden
Isn't everyone in this series built and/or shredded? I mean there's been some lardasses in substories but Kanda in 3 was full on bearmode at least iirc
Kenzan's final boss isn't. He's like a 70 year old decrepit man with a hunchback.
SUKI NI NARERU HITO WO.. SUKI NI NARETA NARABA </3
WTF?? where is the tencent guys? where is the shills shills shills guys? where is the woke/pozzed guys? where is the slop guys? where is the le older is le better guys? where are the contrarians?
Does no shitposter care about this game? its not getting the same posts as Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate and Tears of the Kingdom.
How??? whats the magic barrier that defends and lets you talk about it without trolls?
troll guy got fingered to death..</3
Sorry bro I've been jerking off to cheetos and seonghui too much
There is too much stuff in this game. I'm like 50 hours in and have barely scratched the surface. I've been trying to do substories as soon as they're available but it's a constant stream. I played for 10 hours today and now I'm lying in bed wishing I wasn't tired so I could keep playing all night
just done with the game ~80 hours gonna finish up the sujimon league now
Yakuza ended at 4
Yakuza ended at 0
I didn't expect to be attacked like this in a party chat.
>You don't get Han until the second to last chapter of the game
Whose smart idea was this? At that point I just wanted to finish the game so I didn't bother building bond and job rank to use him
Han hitman got nerfed into oblivion anyway
Previous threads claim best post game party is Ichiban, Kiryu, Seonhee, and Saeko so I guess Seonhee is just unnerfed Joongi?
>no cabbie
>no geodancer
hee hee hee
People think Joongi is bad? Isn't the speed stat king?
Surely females not having access to Glory Awaits and Relentless Dragon's Dance knocks them down a bit, right?
so many ways to get attack up that I don't think the first matters, and the second never even mattered to me because I never have MP problems so I don't need to 'wait' a turn to save MP.
that said, dude jobs are stronger on the whole
it's surreal to see abc stores and the dean and deluca in hawaii in the game nearly in the same location irl
this must be what it feels like when you go to japan and see the real life kamurocho sign (kabukicho)
I wanted to make a webm of this because the animation is satisfying.
>tripgay actually contributes for the better instead of just mindlessly shitposting
what
moose is goated
Moose has been here as long as me, Twoose
I started Judgment after finishing Yakuza 6. The lack of karoake is killing me
Judgement is great.
LJ at least has dance club, which isn't quite the same but it similar.
did anyone else really like kiryu's starting suit in 0? the basic black suit with a white shirt and chain? i dunno i thought it looked good on him
i like that ichiban wears a chain with his red suit too
Yeah my first job I got hired on the spot wearing that outfit. The gold chain adds the perfect amount of sleaze so I throw one on from time to time.
So is it worth dropping 70 burgerbucks for this game or what? I still have to finish Lost Judgment
It feels like it has more to do than 5 despite having less content than it. But if you still have LJ just wait for it to drop in price and if you're on console maybe the NG+ DLC will drop in price at the same time if you want that. RGG games drop in price within a few months nowadays (Like four months nowadays). LJ dropped to $20 within like three months on PS4 and around the same time on PS5, 7 dropped to $20 absurdly quickly, and I bought Ishin Kiwami PS5 for $20 maybe four months after it came out?
i'll keep that in mind. i like how they refined the gameplay in LJ from the first one.
AND IT'S NOT JUST HOT
IT'S TO DIE FOR
Anyone know the name of the SMTass music that plays in the save rooms?
I believe this is the same in 8.
>the great dissolution legendary fight
>we'll wait for you outside kiryu
>just stand around and watch as shifty truck driver videotapes the entire Jima conversation
what did they think he was doing
>True King and Professor Morikasa's teams are worse than the three guys before them.
>Neither uses Suji Surfer or Suji Bear.
>Morikasa doesn't even have a Kiwami.
>Daigo, and the Jima’s don’t accompany Kiryu to the hospital
>ichi’s sloppy seconds do
What the frick
Welcome to nu-yakuza
Also
>despite the rest of the game being fan wank, they can’t even show Kiryu meeting haruka onscreen
There’s also that connection Daigo and Kiryu have (the father bullshit) so for them to outright drop this shit despite all they’ve done together is absolutely atrocious.
reading too much into it. The only people who were waiting in that scene was Haruka and Haruto waiting to meet Kiryu for the first time in years
They didn't show anything else and the scene was short.
Haruka and Haruto was after the post credits which was like several months after the game
which was the same scene Kiryu was shown to actually HAVE gone to the hospital and undergone treatment
The father-son bond between Kiryu and Daigo has never actually existed. Kiryu said it once and Daigo sort of clings to it, but they never actually developed that relationship. It was stupid for Kiryu to ever bring it up.
telling someone they are a son to you means it's harder for them to hate you for ruining their life!
what about when they literally visit him in the hospital in yakuza 6
I thought there was only Date-san
There's a difference between the person who "drops everything at the moment to ride in the ambulance" and the person who "shows up to visit when they're aware you're in the hospital".
You could look at the ending of 8 and assume that the Jimas stay back to deal with Ebina and whatnot (especially because they're already experienced with cleaning up after a yakuza showdown at the Millennium Tower), but they're also simply less fit than the Yokohama crew to play the emotional support roles in that moment.
they didn't go with Kiryu to the hospital, did they? Multiple people can't ride those evac helos. They can take like 2 patients and 2 medics tops.
The game literally shows Nanba, Seonhee, Zhao, and Saeko all in the helicopter with Kiryu, then running alongside his stretcher up until he passes through the doors into the ICU.
;_; seonhee mustve been crying at that moment
i want to believe that they would be there if they could, so i am going to cope and believe that daidoji only allowed haruka and haruto to see him OR it was just an oversight by rgg
he has that sadness in his eyes you only see in Eastern European gay porn..
>kiryu you have to stop with your lone wolf ways we have to work together!!!
>meanwhile Kiryu in every other Yakuza game
gaaah stop posting goateemura
It’s fricking annoying
I don’t want him to return since they’re just repeating shit
Why the frick does he need to learn how to work with others AGAIN
>works with people in 4
>works with people in 5 while making a point that he’s hot friends willing to help him
>is constantly fighting alongside others in 6
>this lone wolf stuff Kiryu-san stooop
-_-
For people who are dumb enough to grind the Sujimon Stadium for all the items this is how you should do it:
>Challenge League
You want to play Power Challenge. It's 6600 per win and takes like three minutes with absolutely zero effort.
>Team
Kiwami Gold, Kiwami Violet, Kiwami Green. The only reserve you need is another Kiwami Violet or probably even Kiwami Blue. All you do is go to Kiwami Violet and mash X. That's it. You may or may not die to Suji Bear in the final wave but that's what your second Kiwami Violet is for.
Divine League for 10k takes like four times as long.
I do the exact same thing with the DLC team and it takes about 3 minutes, a bit less if I get perfect RNG
>I use Seonhee and Han on the side for speed
Kiwami Green is 260 if you're looking for speed. Seonhee is 250 and Han is 240.
what are some good items in the sujimon stadium? I just did the sujimon league and never bothered to touch it again
Just a team full of each flavor of Kiwami. It's more than enough for everything. You can throw Suji Bear or Surfer into there if you want.
Whoops, you said "items". I think the Kunoichi knife is the only thing worth it for the point you reach it but that's about it. It'll still take you like an hour of grinding to buy it.
yeah ima pass
Just checked the crafting list, it looks like the Kunoichi's sword from it is used for Kunoichi's ultimate weapon. The other 4* weapons for Linebacker and Action Star are just random weapons.
Update on this strategy, if you have two Kiwami Greens you don't even need a reserve team. KG/KV/KG is enough to solo to the entire thing with no one dying. The last three enemies don't even get a turn.
>Kiryu didnt meet Haruka in Serena
Date-san really got beaten up for nothing lol
I'm just glad they didn't leave Lani with him, can imagine how that would've gone
I think their next ip will be a JRPG
Ichiban no!
HAHAHA RACISM SO FUNNNNYYYYYYY
yes
he should join garrys love camp
SEONGHUI SEXO
Also her portrait in IW is absolutely smoking hot
frick off dude shes mine
nuh uh
The Yokoyama self-insert hair grew on me for a depressed Kiryu that wanted to die, and it allowed that kino moment wherehe slicks it back again to show that he regains his resolve and his name. So I'm glad they didn't end up going with pic related.
>Anti-dub gays prefer this to having to listen to English

Anti-dub gays don't get to enjoy ENG Ichiban and that alone is enough to deeply pity them.
Shut up baragay
I don't think I will
>kaiji tang
>good
He’s as generic as the rest of them
I feel you actually lose even more than usual by playing dubbed Infinite Wealth.
>Yong Yea's 'nuance' and 'word choice'
>I drink whiskey neat because I like the burn
lmao
lol
>i will list a completely valid argument so now it is invalid somehow
Dubgays are funny
God I wish that was me.
lmao people on here actually get mad if you admit you skip the cutscenes.
What overlooked plot detail could they stretch out for a full game for part 9?
Kiryu's parents secret dark backstory.
If the devs thought that was worth exploring, it would have been brought up in 0 or Kiwami.
0 was about Majima's backstory first and foremost.
>Kiryu’s the best part of the game
>game would’ve been better without Kiryu
I don’t care anymore
Kiryu should be the next main protagonist and spend time with his children especially Daigo. You can have some Ichi stuff on the side but his story is pretty much over. Oh yeah with brawler combat but actually good, like 6 but even more technical.
Daigo isn't allowed to have anything good in life
>Kiryu should spend time with his children
>especially Daigo
guys I had a chili-cheese burger, chili-cheese fries, and a chili-cheese dog for lunch. I think I'm about to bust a Kiwami move on my toilet
https://yakuza-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Destroyer%27s_Secret:_Gorged
Kiwami means extreme
You literally cannot lose the game with Cheetoes Geodancer on your team.
>every round get a random buff
>heal HP on buff
>heal MP on buff
>infinite MP so cast all the best buffs and heals forever (the 75 MP heal is the strongest in the game and removes all debuffs at all ranges)
>take that agility debuff from her Heiress class which is the only debuff really worth casting on bosses, trivializes everything
now there's an argument to be made that nothing in the game requires this level of support power because the game is extremely easy, which is kind of true but the class has like 550 Magic at 50 anyways so nuke away/
take magical song from idol too and were gucci
this is still very kino
?feature=shared
How does everyone feel about the soundtrack for 8? It hasn't been mentioned much, but I think I've only seen people here complain about it.
nothing tops 5 for me
There’s good stuff but I think there’s more weak stuff than before
They’re still in that wub wub EDM phase and at worse, it’s pretty awful
It's my favorite OST they've dropped since Judgment.
?si=mrsG3QecCrMU6rYm in particular is the high point of the whole game for me, in large part due to the song.
People seethe over a few wubs but itt's Godlike
>posts the worst version of receive you

That means "in this thread," newbie.
ESL!
Go back to Brazil ESL-kun
>he’s seething
Mission accomplished!
You sound so rapeable right now
It's not my favourite, not nearly as good as the judgments', but there's some highlights, mainly with all the tracks made for the side content
Like all the soundtracks I at least appreciate how big they are and all the composers they got to contribute to it
Why does chapter 13 feel so rushed? The rest of the game's writing has been pretty spotty but this is particularly bad.
Also holy frick, the localization choices in this game were bad.
Cause the game was rushed
The moron who made all the chapter titles random elvis songs instead of just doing their fricking job should burn
Is there a list of the original chapter names somewhere?
>CH1: Broad Daylight
>CH2: Foreigner/Stranger/Goy
>CH3: Until We Meet Again
>CH4: Imitation Gold
>CH5: Enchanted
>CH6: Lamentation
>CH7: Beautifully Burning Forest
>CH8: Rewrite
>CH9: Lie/Lies
>CH10: True Face/Nature of the Storm
>CH11: After the Festival (word can also refer to online shaming/flaming)
>CH12: Powdery Snow
>CH13: Atonement
>CH14: Overflowing/Excess Fortune/Wealth (INFINITE WEALTH)
>word can also refer to online shaming/flaming
MATSURI
and they say being a weeb doesn't teach you anything
Also forgot to mention CH8 being called Rewrite is hilarious to me given that's the first Kiryu chapter
What did they change?
Can I catch a shark fin while fishing in injicho? asking before I waste my time.
you can get squid tentacles so probably
I got squid tentacles pretty easily , so I dunno.
>Joongi's autistic speech about meat

>try the eng dub
>"eh its not so bad i dont know why people are crying about this'"
>kyriu walks in

apart from ichiban, nanba, adachi etc basically the main bros, the voice acting is painful
Kiryu's is literally the only shitty voice of the main cast. Nanba and Saeko are of questionable quality, but Ichiban, Adachi, Zhao, Chitose, and Seonhee are all particularly great.
Fun Fact: Yongyea improvs lines in order to try to make Kiryu sound more like a 'Badass'. Each time he does it, it sounds fricking cringe.
Takaya told the guy to just act like a gentleman and he decided to ignore it.
>I LIKE THE BURN
>Kiryu admits to having cancer and how he isn't well
>Yongyea decides "I know how to push myself" wasn't a good enough line for him
>"I CAN STILL HAUL ASS" sounds much better
That's unfortunate and embarrassing if true. Contrast Yea's performance with Zhao's, where his skillful effort to recreate Zhao's vocal pattern's is obvious and effective, and it's frustrating that a character like Kiryu wasn't given to a more competent voice actor. Yea's affectation for Kiryu's voice bothers me even more than his misreads; I wish ENG Kiryu had an actor who could make his lines sound as natural as Tang makes Ichiban's.
What minigame gives level-up drinks? I get like 1 pixel towards leveling up after fighting purple enemies in the premium adventure dungeon.
They all only let you buy one. You can get one from every minigame store.
Damn how do these homies expect you to level up for legend when the xp gain is so bad
Pay up for NG+ piggy.
I didn't have to pay for NG+. Imagine using a console as an adult.
You run through the three dungeons, get the ultimate weapons, and you're good to go. The level recommendation isn't true because one guy here went into it at I think he said 56 or something and one fight threw him to the 60s with Legend very quickly leveling you up in general.
7’s story is probably in my top 3. 8’s was so disappointing, I’d put it in my bottom 3 or 4
Even though it doesn't say "never misses" in the description, I think Scum Scraper is programmed to never miss, since I've hit even 3 Agility and Evasion enemies with it all the time.
Pure elemental attacks in general have never missed for me so far
In 7 magic and Essence attacks completely ignored the accuracy formula and it seems the exact same here.
Playable Yeona next game pls.
Very cute
>Han is too autistic to pick up on the fact that she loves him
Maybe she's just Canadian
han is for seonhee only

what did she mean by this
Joongi is like her pet. Not for romance or sex.
Bryce and the cult had a ton of potential.
Ebina is just forced trash.
The results are in
Brother, what are you smoking? 8 is tentative since I'm still only in chapter 5 grinding away.
Take a step back and look at the bigger picture, Gaiden and 8 are still fresh on your mind so you rated the series the way you did.
Maybe the story will bring it down for me but currently it's got a lot of content, varied content, the gameplay is a big refinement on what 7 was, Hawaii is a great new map that feels like it's appropriately sized with lots of varied areas compared to Yokohama, and so far it hasn't overstayed its welcome.
shit list
4 IS TOO LOW MAN WTF???
>Saejima's exploration is pure cancer.
>Tanimura's section is extremely short and while his parrying style is fun he feels just slightly stronger than Shinada.
>Tanimura's final boss if you don't know about the Sacred Tree Set's existence or haven't gotten it.
It's a good game, but I really hate Saejima's exploration. Those police blockades are awful and you have to go to the sewers way too much.

Do guest stars generally reprise their roles? Would Daniel Dae Kim come back as Ebina?
>Do guest stars generally reprise their roles?
Yes but they almost never did reoccurring face actors until recently. Baba reprised his role in Ishin and then until Judgment no one else did. Nanba even coming back for 8 was a surprise let alone Sawashiro, and then you had the 0 crew coming back for Ishin Kiwami which, again, was unexpected.

theres only 3 levels in sicko snap
Play the game seven times.
hows the 100% going man
Currently grinding Sujimon Stadium, only need like 12k more points to have purchased all weapons + a duplicate of the Kunoichi weapon + the one time items. Only took like two hours surprisingly enough. Then I need to go back to Sicko Snap and Crazy Eats because I just realized I won't have a duplicate copy of the upgrade weapons. Then I can finally move on to actually getting jobs before Dondoko Island hell overtakes me.
Nouveau Riche Helmets worked while benched in 7 so I imagine they work.
Ah, right, I forgot about the Nouveau Riche Crown farming in 7. You're right, I'm just getting subpar drops with or without the Leis in the party it looks like.
Do Leis apply their item drop effect when you have benched party members as well or do they need to be in the party?
Yo busterbeam since I know you're lurking; i'm the one who's been making these posts. I wanted to apologize if I made you uncomfortable; I didn't know you were dealing with legit stalkers and don't wanna contribute to them. I've just been stirring shit because I'm bored and a giant shithead. I disagree with your criticisms but I honestly don't care, my love for the series isn't dependent on a critic's opinions, even one I respect. Hell, seeing your thoughts on the games gave me more stuff to think about anyway. I won't be making inflammatory shitposts like this anymore. Sorry bud.[/spoilers]
shut the frick up man
have a nice day and take your e-celeb twitter shit with you
Best table talk I found so far.
Does anyone know what setting can make this disappear? Neither Anti-Aliasing nor DLSS Quality setting seem to work
it's a shame what they did to takabe. he was a G in 7
I hope they ditch Hawaii
The games story would’ve been better had we not gone through the stupid fricking pointless goose chase
Are these from the NG+ stuff?
these are party events after you clear each sector of the big swell
Big Swell content, don't need to go into NG+ for them.
But you need that dlc that adds ng+ to unlock it yeah?
yes but just go creamapi it
I have some dumb questions but neede to ask:
So this is the official sequel to Yakuza 7 Like A Dragon? (Asking because they didn't officially call it 8, it just seems hinted)
And is it the same combat system and gameplay style of 7?
Does it have all the minigames and stuff like 7?
>So this is the official sequel to Yakuza 7 Like A Dragon?
Yes, it's 8 everywhere but the west.
>And is it the same combat system and gameplay style of 7?
Yes.
>Does it have all the minigames and stuff like 7?
Ichiban Confections is gone and there's new minigames.
Yes since the Big Swell is part of the NG+ DLC.
Yeah, the infinity symbol is supposed to be 8
>And is it the same combat system and gameplay style of 7?
Not exactly the same but basically yeah.
>Does it have all the minigames and stuff like 7?
Mostly. Ichiban Confections is gone but there are several new minigames.

Did Sega hire the Treehouse localizers or something?
Be brave like dragons!
arigato dude!
Can someone see what this says in Japanese?
So uh, why did Sega of America name the game Infinite wealth?
did you notice the infinity sign is like 8 but sideways
DID I JUST MISS OUT ON BIG SWELL BY COMPLETING THE GAME BEFORE I FOUND IT, I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO GET TO IT, WHAT DO I DO
am i gonna have to replay ng+ to get to it

no, after you complete the game go to revolve it will trigger the big swell event for you
What do I get if I win the Sujimon League
Higher tier raids and better items from the various machines.
If you win the Stadium's Divine League you get a funny piece of dialogue.

why doesnt zhao take his shirt off even in the swimsuits
she is the only one i would accept being with kiryu
also the ending was shit, at least kiryu's part was
Kiryu's stoy will NEVER end, we just have to accept it by now. Plus I enjoyed Kiryu's bonding with Ichiban's crew, he seemed he enjoys himself way more than with his old yakuza nakamas
it's like the fakeout they do at the end of every game except now we have to wait for another ~3 years
zhao is a drip god
Zhao's nipples are sensitive.
zhao is literally the DRIP god himself man
SNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIF
mhmm is this saeko brap hog?
Yes.
describe zhao without mentioning his cooking/restaurant
fashionable laid back guy really easy to get close with
Very sexy, thanks to his voice. His intro in 7 was pure sexo.
he talks like a prostitute, need him to send me some moaning vids asap
Am I doing something wrong but why does it feel so painfully slow to level up? Sometimes I beat a battle and the guys were about the same level as me, sometimes even a few levels higher. In the end I barely see the level up meters move at all. This has been consistently happening and for some reason Tomizawa is lagging behind a lot. I really don't get it.
How early in the game are you? Enemies pretty early on won't give much XP so, even if the level difference is bigger, you won't be getting as much. Just do some random fights until you can Smackdown most of the map and/or continue with the story.
Chapter 13 kek. Just did the 3rd tier of the underground dungeon shit and pretty confused about how I've barely leveled up.
I'll give that a go, thanks.
Also give any lagging party members training equipment so they level up faster and catch up to the rest of the party.
They got rid of this in 7 once you hit chapter 11 for example because everything from 11 onward is the last time the world changes states and the enemies that are there will be there even into PA.
someone please tell me to stop taking selfies with my party members, i've already burned 2 hours just taking selfies with the bros and the girls
Do what makes you happy but remember to take breaks and spend time with the people you love because they won't always be there.
we ready
good shit wong tou
Who's that asiatic in the back?
shang abi bro
wong toe
Xi Jinping
>tfw amon 4 man assault
The frick is this bullshit? I eventually beat it just by spamming aoe poundmates, debuffs and heavy attacks but damn I figured that I'd be able to beat him at a level lower the 58. How overleveled am I for the story at this point? Chapter 12.
>58
Like 15 levels higher
>Haruka got fricked by a chink
Yamai is a pimp
hes slick
shivering..
he's so cool....
why they do my boy like that...
He got what he deserved.
>had more interaction with Kiryu than Ichiban
i fricking hate michio robots so goddamn much bros
OH NO
Is Ichiban not considered handsome or attractive in this universe? Kiryu is Mr. Beautiful Eyes but Ichiban is always called scruffy and shit.
His perm is not doing him favors, that's for sure.
Ichiban actively works to undermine any natural appeal he has. Every time you see him outside of normal gameplay or cutscenes he's pulling some Jim Carrey ass expression and he intentionally dresses and wears his hair like a paranoid schizophrenic even though he isn't. He has naturally very deep and powerful eyes, which are augmented by the eyeliner he's very clearly wearing even though nothing about him suggests he would ever even think of using it.
>even though he isn't
Whoa now, let's not go that far.
Ichiban isn't schizophrenic. It's a fricking meme.
>Kiwami 2
>S tier
>ISHYGDDT.
His eyes, lips, and jawline are so gorgeous though. His hair and clothes don't stop me from finding his face breathtaking.
Shut the frick up baragay
I'm not a baragay.
i mean people do say that he is handsome, but his hair is so fricked up that it's hard to look past for most people unless they spend a lot of time around him
>Yakuza is my favorite series
>still haven't played this yet despite loving 7
>decide to replay 0 instead
I feel like even with my low expectations, 8 is gonna massively disappoint me
nah, while the story is kinda moronic, the gameplay is really fun
The story is my concern. I have enough jrpg's to get my fix gameplay wise, I want good Yakuza story
I have gamepass so it doesn't matter
Just wait until it gets a big discount, it's what I'm doing
S - K2, 0
A - 7, J
B - 5, 6, LJ
C - K1, 4
D - Gaiden, 3
Dropped - Ishin
Kiwami of 5 would be S tier, Kiwami of 4 would be A tier
>gets your series hijacked by some old fart
>never get to fight final boss which is your own brother
>your crazy cult joining mom ditched you again
>ending is Kiryu's adventure with Chemotherapy
>never get an ending of your own
It really does suck to be Ichiban.
Nah the part with Eiji is moronic, why let that stupid little shit beat on your for free like that?
Ichiban is doing fine. I really hope we do get to see him be there for Eiji on the day he gets out of prison.
I'm confused. Is the bartender Kashiwagi or not ?
Yes, it's explicitly shown to you he is in 7.
Then why is he so tsundere ? I figured he'd be jumping with joy to see Kiryu
He IS joyful to see Kiryu though. It's very clear from how they interact.
He wants to leave his yakuza life behind
Yes.
He looks like that because of the chemo. He'll make a full recovery, the homie didn't even lose any hair.
got damn....
Anyone have a webm/gif of this part? It caught me off guard.
joongi is cute!
>7
>super cool KPOP assasin
>8
>super autistic
The bonding bingo was a mistake.
>implying he wasnt already super autistic in 7
whenever he opened up a little the only thing he'd talk about was fitness/dieting. you could just tell he was secretly a weirdo and the bond bingo just confirms that. also he got herpes
Sounds like you didn't do party chats and table talks in 7. Joongi was always an autist.
Please just kill off Kiryu so he doesn't ever come back, the story just gets more and more moronic. Why can't they just get the writer who did Kiwami?
>Why can't they just get the writer who did Kiwami?
Anon, the Kiwami team developed Gaiden. It sincerely doesn't offer much outside of recycled content. The new content is very weird.
why is he like this
</3..
joongirlies.. our response??
Even though they used the term "cold sores", I thought they were supposed to be talking about canker sores. Do cold sores hurt when a person with one eats certain things?
Cold sores and canker sores are the same thing, or that's what my parents taught me. They're those tiny beads that appear randomly on your tongue or in your mouth that are annoying and ever so slightly painful.
I thought so as well, but apparently cold sores are on the outside of the mouth, generally on the lip, while canker sores are the ones that appear on your tongue.
Cold sores are blisters, so anything hot or acidic would hurt as well, but I don't think it would hamper you eating food like canker sores would. It may be a translation error.
he's korean with a wicked inferiority complex (much like many koreans)
Mass Murderer body-double for a dead villain.
Yeah, imagine what kind of moron would get stuck in that thing.
.
Why do essence attacks do so little damage even though it's supposed to be extreme ? I noticed this in 7 too.
>7
>Essences
>Little damage.
They are literally the strongest attacks in the game for single hit damage and for AoE. There's only a very small select few attacks that out damage them like Darts Airstrike, Head Trauma, and Paralysis Prongs.
new bread doko?
Get in the strive lobby already b***h
>be Kiryu
>villain responsible for multiple deaths
>please don't die
>also Kiryu
>throws homeless people into storm drains
>blows up a helicopter of people who are just doing their job
