I just finished it. I liked it but ending wasn't super satisfying like Gaiden unfortunately.
This was 100% a Kiryu game though. Ichi and his whole plot felt very irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Chitose was the best new character in this game but I don't think she's ever coming back.
>but I don't think she's ever coming back.
It's actually the opposite for me, I think Chitose's chance of coming back eventually is pretty high since she's now in charge of a relatively important company. If Ichiban and group need someone with political power for whatever reason, she'll be the first one they go to, she just probably won't return as a party member. I think Tomizawa is the one that will never come back, him living in Hawaii makes it harder to bring him back unless they just want to be lazy and go "lmao he was just randomly in japan for vacation" or something. At best he might get a cameo in Judgment 3 or some new spin-off since they'll definitely reuse the Hawaii map somehow.
>Chitose was the best new character in this game but I don't think she's ever coming back.
Anon, it's yakuza writing, literally the only thing that matters is if they want to bring her back or not. If they do, then they will simply asspull whatever explanation for it, no matter how moronic it is.
Kiryu stole the show, everything apart from the final boss for him was gold. He had a lot more depth to his character and his interactions with the group were really good. Everyone in his party was elevated because of it. His group was off having fun with almost no drama in the group and Ichiban was having highschool drama left and right. Makes me want more Kiryu but how crazy would they have to be to actually bring him back? I'm ready to move on from Ichiban. Hopefully we get some new spinoffs.
Currently on chapter 13. I like Kiryu's chapters, but Ichi's feel like a fricking slog with tons of filler and barely any progress. Also who's the fricking genius that came up with the "run through the whole city on a specific path with enemies constantly harassing you". Really feels like they wanted to pad out the game to extreme levels at times. I also dislike how Ichi keeps treating Eiji like he's their friend even though he's in this whole mess because Eiji forced Chitose to expose Ichi and Kiryu, Eiji also practically killed Hanawa and that chinese guy. >but Ichi is a good boy!!
Yeah, I know, I still hate it. I expect Eiji to switch sides at the end because Ichi will get through to him with the power of friendship only for Eiji to die/sacrifice.
Also the Daidoji subplot is just plain moronic. They're supposed to be a huge organization but they're barely relevant to the story. Kiryu is just doing whatever the frick he wants. There are now 2 videos released on how Kiryu is still alive but no one gives a shit. Characters during life links also treat him like he's dead and they haven't seen what's been happening on TV/internet. Daidoji felt more like a threat and an actual organization during Gaiden. I honestly expected them to be the big bad in 8, though I guess they could still pull it off with some moronic twist.
the game is 14 chapters of fillers
having to do the game twice (japan and hawai) is a joke
the 2 optionnal dungeons being the same cloned shit is a bad joke
seems like it got good reviews only because it contained woke shit

I think something was cut prior to launch. Eiji's arc would have made way more sense if he was actually a party member.
Yeah. He could have stayed a support-only character, but you could control him and choose his buffs/debuffs/heals. The primary benefit to having him join the party would be to force him to interact with Ichiban more, as well as the others. We'd see how well he keeps up his act in casual scenarios, and it'd be good if there were subtly awkward moments with him that only make sense once you know what he's holding back. Eiji being playable as well as having a handful of Party Chats and Table Talks would be a fantastic way to disguise the fact that he becomes an antagonist partway through. Even if his behavior is suspicious, once he's in the party most players would be confident that he isn't going to leave permanently.
Nah, I can't see the game putting in that much effort for a temporary party member. He might have some remote attacks like the npc drone strike, but he'd probably be stuck in one unique class. Do you even get access to Alo-Happy before he fricks off?

I mean it's well before his heel reveal yeah, just have him not frick off for the whole Barracuda part of the plot.
>I also dislike how Ichi keeps treating Eiji like he's their friend even though he's in this whole mess because Eiji forced Chitose to expose Ichi and Kiryu, Eiji also practically killed Hanawa and that chinese guy.
This is a very common complaint from people who completed 8. I thought more people would appreciate the fact that Eiji accepts Ichiban's offer at the end. Ichiban extends his forgiveness and strength to someone who he actually manages to reach, someone who is emboldened by it to become a better person (retroactively becoming worthy of such a boon), even though we've been shown time and again how much harder it is for people to do the right thing than to be selfish or spiteful. Also, Ichiban is literally gives the same opportunity to Eiji that he gave to Tomi and Chitose, who both accepted it and made good on it. The ending is a celebration of both Kiryu and Ichiban's unrelenting kindness in the face of humanity's worst, finally paying off.
I suppose this ending couldn't be as satisfying to anyone who didn't play or can't recall the previous games though. The story pacing and character development in 8 itself aren't great.
I don't think that works as well with Eiji in comparison to Tomi and Chitose. Tomi was very clearly someone that was in over his head and Chitose left enough for Ichiban to determine that she wasn't a bad person. Eiji in contrast came across as a straight-up butthole, including but not limited to actively endangering a child with no qualms. Yeah it still fits Ichiban's character but Eiji never gave any prior indication of being a decent person.
I really find myself wondering if Eiji and Ebara could be combined somehow, because each felt like half a character. Maybe keeping Ebara's backstory and such but having him remain anonymous, acting through Sawashiro, while he takes up Eiji's role in Hawaii. Probably would be much more complicated than that but both just needed so much more thant hey got, especially Ebara who's relationship with Ichiban is totally meaningless.
the problem is because of the route split nobody is fleshed out enough. When Kiryu fights most of the last bosses, you buy into them as dudes bad ass enough to stand against the Dragon of Dojima.
I don't get that from Ebina and I just couldn't buy into him being that strong just because.
Pic very related; I easily felt that these are 4 dudes that are almost equals and it was going to be a RUMBLE.
>Ebara
Ebina. Probably says something that I've already forgotten his name.

They did it in 0 so I guess they thought that they could do it again. Granted, I won't say they pulled it off THAT much better in 0 in terms of the final chapters, as Shibusawa wasn't really any better than Ebira. But at least Majima had a personal reason to care about Dojima and his boys. Ichiban feels totally detached from everything going on with Bryce and Kiryu's relation to Ebina feels pretty forced.
I wouldn't say it would change nothing since he info dumps the entire Bryce shit to the party. It's just he as a character is irrelevant, the role of the Gangzhe leader that gives the party a lead could be anyone and nothing would change.
Ambush tactics are a thing for a reason you moron. Even the strongest groups can be brought down by a well executed ambush. You have to remember Ichiban isn't Kiryu. He's a good fighter but he isn't otherwordly, his strength is more in his charisma and bringing a bunch of talented people under his cause. Should be clear since most of his QTEs are him sloppily fighting and getting a bit overwhelmed before managing to get a good hit in and not the master fighter displays you see from Kiryu. Anyway, they were confused from Eiji's betrayal and couldn't really organize which is a death sentence for a group like theirs.
How the frick was he not a party member? His introduction had such an importance to it, what with his setup, the big fight with him, the fact that Ichi and the gang successfully escorted him to safety...but, no!
I think they fricked up the whole Casino Royale scene though. You think they're about to crash the joint and do some spy shit, hanging from the ceiling with wires, diving through security beams, james bond ripoff theme playing in the background.
Instead Wong just shows up. Almost everything about this game's story was a mess. They're about to spend a decade running the whole thing back to try and redeem it. Idk what went wrong but it was super sloppy compared to their last few games. Especially Gaiden.
It wouldn't surprise me if they had more plot elements and more stuff they wanted to do but ended up getting cut. Eiji just kinda disappears at some point and then comes back in the finale on the run. I feel there was an entire arc of Ichi dealing with Eiji but got cut at some point.
>Lol you think those spy gadgets work? We checked you out electronically before you even stepped into our building.
I'm surprised Wong didn't also go >Also Kiryu wouldn't stop tapping his glasses while he talked to himself even in our elevator, do you think we're stupid?
if gaiden never came out, and it was just LJ (with nagoshi involvement) and then lad8 (without nagoshi involvement). i would've legitimately be worried about this series.
I beat it and enjoyed it a lot. The game seems to be made at least 85% out of nods to previous games in the series, and both major antagonists Eiji and Ebina, Bryce is irrelvant sorely lacked character development, but I can't bring myself to hate it for that. I'd like to see those two characters re-appear and get fleshed out properly in the next installment, which hopefully takes place in Japan and re-focuses itself on the yakuza as an organization. I don't care how far removed from reality the series has to get to tell us another "modern day samurai" story, with Ichiban in the lead while Kiryu is retired.
8 did a great job improving upon the battle system of 7, and expanding the party-bonding mechanics with Walk-and-Talks was a great move. It would have been fantastic if Eiji had been a party member for a while, involved in some party chats and table talks.
I finished it and I liked it. Don't really think it's a doompost worthy game like this place is treating it, it's like middle of the pack overall. I think they took on more than they could chew with the dual protag idea and it would have been better as either a solo Ichiban game or a solo Kiryu game.
It's up to you, you can go whenever you want so do it at your own pace or hell don't do it at all. I got it to two stars and stopped bothering since I didn't like it and it isn't like 7 where the minigame is the best source of money prior to post game
I think I'd like it a lot more if I knew how to replace music tracks. I wanna replace the miniboss theme with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qnDuPGsLCQ
Also, on chapter 11. Game's finally picking up now that Zhao is in the gang and we finally know what the frick the villains are up to.
It was good. I liked it. I didn't have the issues the newcomers to the series did with the ending because it fit Ichiban to a T, and I liked Kiryu finally decide to stop running even though he decided that in 5 and then ran away in 6 but THIS TIME it's cancer so it's super serious.
8/10, big fun, Gaiden was better. LJ is still king.
-I wish death upon shitose, she doesn't deserve any kind of friendship from ichiban, she did nothing but betray the party over and over, waiting for shit to go down before trying to say something. She even fricked up and delivered Lani back to Eiji for no reason. Her final act wasn't even some kind of redemption, she just threw her entire family under the bus when her entire friendship arc is how they care about her, she's arguably more evil than any other character in the game.
-Eiji isn't even better, he had zero build-up, I can see Ichiban's reaction being genuine, but he was a dick through and through who was tailored to be the worst infuriating character in the game
-Hanawa being useless is stupid, his mysterious identity teased at the end of Gaiden will never be solved, Kiryu not giving a shit was stupid, the absence of an agent job or at least agent skills was stupid, the Daidoji was all and all stupid too
-Saeko was a b***h, that's to be expected, but she knows Ichiban well, the entire relationship also came out of nowhere
-There isn't a single post-game content that matter, in 7 we got the millennium tower and the ultimate millennium tower, those required grind and even booster grind, it was stupid but it was a good and satisfying content, the highest level content in the base game is lv 60, Amon gathered his family members and they're barely 55, what the frick were they thinking
other than that it's pretty comfy, might use cream API or something to unlock ng+ but since there's no bonus content I don't think I'll care
the Big Swell DLC has some pretty good moments with the group and a lot of cliche japanese humor thrown in. but I do agree that the post game is a disaster. Big Swell is just not worth the money unless you really want to do a NG+ run then the dungeon makes the grind super easy. Less grind is good but then where the frick is the challenge at? This is the same problem I had with 7 except the combat in 8 is way better. We never really got challenged in 7 outside of just needing to grind. They remove grind from 8 and it's even less of a challenge somehow. It makes the final bosses feel like a huge dud. Lots of mistakes were made. I still love the game, I've put over 200 hours into it and I'm about to do NG+ but RGG needs to do some redeeming. 4 years was a long wait and another 4 years is even longer. We need some stuff in the mean time with a lot more focus.
>stuck on the secret Yagami boss fight that's triggered right after he hears Ichiban saying that Sawa-shiro was a huge c**t
Dude's pretty much killing every party member on one hit when he's on berserk mode and won't shut up about how scared she was.
How the frick am I supposed to beat this?
I liked it but kiryu's sections were way better and I wasen't a fan of splitting up the party. Although the combat was an improvement over the previous game id rather they return to the brawler style and use the jobs sorta like how kiryu switches between styles.
It pissed me off when tomizawa was giving chitose flack for betraying them and ichiban told him off saying he betrayed yamai. Yamai is evil and yakuza completely different situation.
>have played all the yakuza titles >feel like an old fart doing all the memoirs of a dragon stuff >feel bad about myself >quickly reminded Kiryu was fricking 37 years old in yakuza 1
The only redeemable aspect of the story are Tomizawa, Chitose and Yamai.
Ebina was very underdeveloped. His relation to Kasuga is interesting but it wasn't explored
Bryce is a meme and a complete pushover
Mine was definitely the last good antagonist of a mainline game. They need to revive him somehow
If Mine was revived, would Rikiya then be the only person who died in 3? >Kashiwagi gets swiss-cheesed by a minigun >survived >Lau Ka Long takes a bullet in the brain >survived >Richardson falls from the millennium tower >survived
Not to mention >Mikio takes a sledgehammer to the back of the neck after getting shot in the leg for extra blood loss, survives >Daigo gets shot and goes into a coma, survives >Nakahara gets shot, survives >Kiryu gets stabbed in the stomach, survives
Imagine being so uncool that you actually die in this series.
worst yakuza game i've played, and i've 100%ed all of them. i'm not saying this to be contrarian, i genuinely mean it. the story was trash. the music was trash. the characters are trash.
Top five reasons why Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth SUCKS!
1. No Alo-Happy costumes
2. No Alo-Happy party member
3. No Alo-Happy Poundmate
4. No Alo-Happy Minigame (think FNAF 3) because if we're ripping off nintendo games for side content, why not branch out to indie horror bullshit
5. Alo-Happy is not real
actually so upset by how much I dislike this game, one of the worst put together narratives in an rgg game. All of the usually excellent theming in these games seems abandoned by the 2nd half in exchange for fan service, but the fan service is also scared to commit in any way? Its actually bizarre. I was in disbelief at how awful the antagonists were by the final act, most of the actually meaningful writing for kiryu seems to be placed in the bucket list, yet even that is ruined by a failure to commit to any kind of solid resolution in the game that’s entire intent and core theme seems to be resolution and actualisation on the past in order to create a better future. Its such a shame. The first half is pretty excellent on its own though and the gameplay is maybe the best in the series
>yhe actually meaningful writing for kiryu seems to be placed in the bucket list, yet even that is ruined by a failure to commit to any kind of solid resolution in the game that’s entire intent and core theme seems to be resolution and actualisation on the past in order to create a better future.
Kiryu changes from wanting to die to wanting to live, under his own name even. What more "commitment" did you want?
>yet even that is ruined by a failure to commit to any kind of solid resolution in the game that’s entire intent and core theme seems to be resolution and actualisation on the past in order to create a better future. Its such a shame.
completely missing the point of the entire Kiryu arc of the whole game, which was about regaining his will to live because he bettered people's lives instead of destroying them (which you can associate with Yakuza in general, and the reason Ebina exists)
I think I'm on chapter 9. I'm level 31 or 32. I just beat Yaimi. My next mission is to go to some orphanage. I have no clue whats happening in the story as I mash x during cutscenes.
Really all I care about is dondoko island. I five starred it and tried to move on with the main story but then I invited Kei and some other hot babes and I wanted to go back so I could gift them and oggle them and take their money.
Im still into the game overall. Having a lot of fun. I think I have one last sujimon trainer to beat.
I wish we could see these times without having to go to the app or boot up a PS5 for it. I miss when the browser had it all. >They still haven't implemented Playstation Stars into the PS5 profile screen even though they have a completely pointless "Badges" system in it so the only purpose of it is looking at your collectibles in the app.
PSN time counts however long you've been in-game even if you're home buttoned out or paused.
In-game time only counts active playtime which includes pause menus if I remember right. That's why they're wildly inaccurate. Your PSN/Steam time is technically the most accurate measure of how long you played.
I just cleared Ijincho in chapter 8, am I safe to leave Kamurocho till later? Will the story take me there or should I go clear it before moving on to chapter 9?
I'm on chapter 11, overall it's better than 7 with a few caveats, I don't like Dondoko Island and preferred the business management sims in the other games, and this game is somehow even easier than y7 if that's even possible.
I still don't like the new combat system. I don't even mind it being turn-based but it's just too generic and simplistic to really be enjoyable. It really could use a little more complexity.
Why does everyone hate Ebina?
He wasn't the best villain in the series but I really like him. He reminds me of Iwami, not really memorable but a perfect embodiment of the themes of the game and a suitable foe to Kiryu so he can close his story.
I also found pretty funny that he knew his plan wasn't going to work because Bryce was fricking stupid but he was just going along with it in order to kill as many yakuza as possible.
And yeah, him being Ichiban's brother was kind of dumb but whatever, we've seen way worse asspulls in these games.
Besides the fight was cool and his theme is fricking sick:
I read some anon in other thread saying that his tattoo is a demon who judges people and send them to hell or something like that, so that's actually a great choice if true.
thats a cool choice for a design, but i dont know if there are a lot of non yakuza that proudly wear back tattoos. So it just weirded me out to see someone so turbo anti-yakuza to be 1. buff 2. back tattoo. Id expect some loser like kume to be turbo anti-yakuza
Eiji was willing to kill children if it meant killing Yakuza, not that hard to believe someone could get a tattoo in order to deep cover himself long enough to put his plan into action.
I finished it, gameplay wise it's an 8/10 for me but I wish It was just a Kiryu game. Ichiban doesn't do it for me. I hate how over the top he is with I MUST FORGIVE ANYONE NO MATTER HOW EVIL!!
How much am I missing by not doing the Hawaii/Yokohama dungeons? I did all the substories/drink links/bucket list but that ending killed my desire to go back to the game.
They really should have dropped the chink/asiatic and made Wong Tou and Yamai the final party members for Kiryu and Ichiban, respectively. Bringing them all back was cool but I dread to think of the contrivance they're going to have to pull if they want to get them all back for 9.
They've wrote themselves against a corner by having too many characters and the dual party system.
I guess Han and Zhao won't return as companions in 9 and I guess either Tomi or Cheetos will be out aswell, but they should really drop other characters like Adachi or Nanba so we can see new additions unless they bring back Kiryu again, which I hope doesn't happen.
>I guess Han and Zhao won't return as companions in 9 and I guess either Tomi or Cheetos will be out aswell, but they should really drop other characters like Adachi or Nanba so we can see new additions >no mention of Saeko
I hope she gets booted.

7 was great, and he did well on his own, 8 suffered due to trying to shoehorn Kiryu in.
>Bringing them all back was cool but I dread to think of the contrivance they're going to have to pull if they want to get them all back for 9.
I really don't see how Ichiban's mates helping him is a contrivance. If anything they'll have to contrive reasons for them not to be party members in order to make some room for new characters.
>grinded the frick out of the dungeons with ichibans team before chapter 13 >chapter 13 the korean comes to "help" when im "stuck" in a bind >all my encounters are pretty much smackdowns because of how overleveled I am
That's more of an issue with the fricked pacing of the second half of the game than anything else. His drink link revealing he wasn't actually following Seonhee's orders and went to Hawaii on his own initiative is decent character development by itself.
I don't know why anyone wants Wong Tou as a party member. He could have been a better NPC but there's nothing about that dumb butthole that would have made me want to see his Bond Bingo.
He looks cool, has a good voice actor, fights in a cool way, and is allied to you as a competent fighter with a reason to help. We already have Chitose and Tomizawa who also were pieces of shit (Chitose much moreso later on, Tomizawa frontloaded on it but is just a sorta wimpy random coward after), he had a lot more to work with to make him enjoyable.
Same way people also wanted Yamai as a party member when he started warming up to the gang and had all that going for him too. Would just be nice for the new characters not to be worse-Nanba and rich b***h.
Holy shit taste. Tomi is better than Nanba on all fronts, and Chitose has solid development plus great party interactions. Chitose is a better character and companion than Saeko was in 7 and 8 combined.
>muh Asmon said

I loved the game, I think they greatly improved the combat and job system from 7.
Honestly the worst parts for me were the Date reminiscence missions, too much nostalgiabating.
Dragon of Dojima was so broken that there wasn't much reason to level other jobs on Kiryu past the first two MP improvements.
Samurai's skills were the strongest to inherit most of the time.
Slugfest was the best track of the OST. Did Sawashiro survive?
Just beat Amon, fricker make me finally use my non-preorder stat bonuses and used poundmates twice which drained my cash. Weird how it's the first boss where taking out the leader first is a good idea otherwise Jo just revives them all and stomps you.
I'd say 8/10. Fun for sure, but the story and overall pacing are pretty fricked, even for Yakuza.
Lani as a plot element, even a pure MacGuffin, makes no sense at all, on several levels.
And Ebina is cool thematically, as kind of a photonegative of Shishido from the last game, BUT the idea he's final boss material is laughable.
"Meanwhile, Kiryu's adopted daughter Haruka Sawamura and her son Haruto visit Kiryu at the hospital just as he's about to receive treatment. When the doctor asks to confirm his name, Kiryu, no longer needing to fake his death, answers with his real name."
Okay that's it, we never got to see a reunion between them
I want to see Party Chat, Walk and Talks, and Table Talks with Daigo, Majima, and Saejima. I think Daigo and Saejima would get along great with Ichiban.
That would be the only way they can convince me to have Kiryu again as the main character in the next game.
Daigo, Majima and Saejima in his party would be kino. Throw Akiyama and Kaoru too and it would be the best game in the entire franchise.
Speak for yourself, homosexual. I don't want Kiryu playable in the next game. I'd be happy to see the Tojo old guard partying up with Ichiban while Kiryu convalesces with his kids.
Hey his story has been more than told already but why not a game where he just becomes the protagonist in a story he has no business with but he does it anyway because he's bored out of his mind in Oninawa and craves some turn-based action with his bros?
I'd be down for that.
I’m still mad Kiryu’s “friends” are just Ichiban’s and some dick riders. We really should have just had Majima, Saejima, Daigo and Akiyama. DPS, Grapple/AOE, Buffs, Heals. It literally writes itself. Would have more impact too.
That's what I was genuinely expecting in all honesty. I was expecting the Tojo guys, one new person, Akiyama and Date and a surprise secret member being Haruka. I was genuinely expecting everything to happen in separate areas and both parties would cross paths near the end of the story and rhen work together
Just finished it. Gameplay was a huge improvement, story I found to be one of the worst. Also REALLY disliked the social media shit because I hate social media.
Also mixed feelings on the party being split. Like, on one hand only one person was benched so you got to use most characters, but it also resulted in less banter between the entire party.
I CreamAPI'd the MVB and got the achievement for starting NG+, but I don't have the achievements for beating NG+ on Hard or Legend yet and I was farming the Poundmates one when I got it.
She remained pure waiting for Kiryu.
When he fully recovers they'll make up for lost time and they'll have hot steamy sex every single minute of the day.
That's actually why won't see Kiryu anymore.
Having sex, or rather having a kid ages you like hell in the Yakuzaverse.
PokeSa Fighter? Aged like shit, had a kid.
Doc Emoto? Noticably aged, had a hid.
Haruka? Already hit the wall, had a kid.
The reason Majima looks so good is because Park aborted his child.
Someone on the team has a ridiculous hard-on for short hair with sideswept bangs.

if i was in yoko hama in 2020 i wouldve fricked her in her ps4 pussy
Saeko is just a b***h. They made it clear she didn't dump him.
She's just playing extrememly hard to get due to having a women moment that lasted for a fricking year so she ghosted him. She's a fricking moron at times.
Fair enough, though at least she did apologize at the end. Still I am more concerned with where they go from here. Next game they either are in a relationship from the start or are separated again for some mishap which would be redundant. Would be curious to see the writers try and give us an active relationship. But of course there's also the fact that Kiryu lost both his father-figure and his waifu, so if they want the parallels there Saeko may not survive the game provided they have the balls.

i hope they break up or something. I felt that ichiban having a thing for saeko was incredibly forced and was only brought upon due to nanba and adachi jokingly egging him on. I mean nanba also eggs ichiban on with chitose so if saeko somehow disintegrated i wouldnt be surprised if chitose took up the love interest role.

i didnt do any of the romance stuff in 7 but if i recall correctly you can date multiple girls and stuff. i just remember that the opening scene for lad8 is ichiban and the party having fun then when saeko leaves, nanba (or adachi) starts saying "lol saeko right? you want to frick her haha? Go frick her, shes a lady after all. Haha" and it just became autism after that.

Sure, but 7 established he had a thing for her. You also had Saeko saying random stuff like this.

I really hope they just dump the romance plotline. A man can't be a good husband and father AND a yakuza protagonist. If he had a wife or kid, he would always have to put them first. He wouldn't be able to run off and play hero, wouldn't be able to bum around with his bros, wouldn't be able to be the kind of guy who promises to be there the day you get out of prison to help you get back on your feet.
Even though Ichiban is the perfect man to marry and would love his family more than anything, it would just be such a boring way for his story to go.
Ichiban already is a (platonic) harem protagonist. His party members straight up love him. Honestly, it feels like Saeko loves him the least of them all.
He got raped by >Maeda >Elizabeth and Alo-Happy >Chitose Buster Holmes and then subsequently pummeled by Gary Buster Holmes >Julie, who also increased his agility >Miss Match
Man that side quest in LJ was horrendously disappointing. It sets it up to be a wacky episode of I'm Old Enough but ends up just being two morons stuck in a sign board.
i dont understand why they put the judgment characters here. in gaiden, kaito was in a substory so atlaest there was something, but here its just... a little cameo
You know what, now that some time have passed and I've sat on it and pondered, I think I have a more positive impression of the ending. Anyone here with a similar experience?
The issue is that the endings were quite clearly butchered and redone, you can't look at the Hawaiin ending and say that something fricky didn't happen.
It's a good ending. It would have been better if Eiji had a better development and if we could have seen a brief scene with Akane and Lani in Hawaii. The same goes for Cheetos becoming CEO and who knows what happened with Bryce and Ebina (I guess they are in jail).
It's ok to have the party talking about this points but it would have been way better to show us those thing even for a few seconds.
Kiryu's ending however I think it did what it was meant to do in a subtle way. It drops hints that it's not the first time Haruka and Haruto go to the hospital to see him and Kiryu's finally proud to has his real name back. But not knowing what happened with the Daidoji deal is what kills it.
It all depends on what they do in 9. They really need to show us them finally together and mention what is going to happen with the yakuza clans or the role that Ichiban will play now that Ebina's plan has failed.
he willingly gave it up in order to be at hello work and integrate yakuza into society full time, and eri is in america heading the holdings company in his place. Why he doesnt have any sort of financial stake in it or anything like that is more the real plothole.
>ichiban doesn't actually start dating saeko >kiryu doesn't actually reunite with haruka >kiryu doesn't actually die
Just beat the game and I understand why people are calling it filler. Really disappointing.
The fact that Ebina is Kasuga's half brother and they don't even fricking talk about it together is probably the worst writing in the game. What a wasted plot point.
>villain literally screams "I AM LIKE THE MAIN CHARACTER!!! IT'S AS IF HE IS LE GOOD AND I ON THE OTHER HAND AM LE EVIL!!!!" >main character is in another country and hears none of this
some real Aizawa "why am I even here" energy
Not wasted. It's perfectly in line with the roles Kiryu and Kasuga play. Kiryu buries the past while Kasuga takes care of the future.
Ebina was a product of past wrongdoings by the yakuza. Him being related to Ichi is significant because it's meant to parallel Eiji, who also parallels Masato.
Eiji holds an intense grudge against the yakuza just like Ebina but has not reached the level of power that he is at, which allows Kasuga to save him from going down the same path. It also sort of gives him a second chance to save Masato. It's no coincidence that Ichi calls Masato his brother despite not being blood related but wants nothing to do with Ebina whom he is related to by blood.
Kiryu deals with Ebina himself because he feels somewhat responsible for his creation. He had a chance to change the yakuza as a whole when he was chairman but he didn't. To atone, he relieves Kasuga of the burden of having to clean up a mess created by the sins of a yakuza decades ago.
>He had a chance to change the yakuza as a whole
Frick exactly was he gonna change? It's not like he really knew the scope of their problems all the way back in 3.
I get where this comes from but honestly it seems kinda half-assed. Ebina being related to Ichiban is totally meaningless except that I guess it makes him an anti-Ichiban, but I imagine if he was more active he would have made a great antagonist for Ichiban. Instead he got Bryce who was pretty much a nothing villain that no one really has any personal reason to care about except I guess Tomi.
Daigo is just not a really capable boss even if he was trying his best all the time, while Kiryu is a fricking god. Everyone would had respected him and he would had easily crushed whoever didn't so no conspiracy could have worked with him as the chairman.
Besides he's always been portrayed as this straight, honest man who became a yakuza but didn't really fit as a criminal, so I guess somehow he could have made the yakuza a useful asset to society instead of letting them be a bunch of buttholes fighting for power and money over and over again as he did by leaving Daigo alone and fricking off to Okinawa as soon as he could.
>He had a chance to change the yakuza as a whole
Frick exactly was he gonna change? It's not like he really knew the scope of their problems all the way back in 3.
I would say it was worth the wait, it was my most hyped game in years and it delivered on almost every front. Party Chat needs to be a staple of the series now, it's so much fun listening to characters banter about random things. I liked Ichiban's ending with Eiji, even if it was pretty underdeveloped. it was a really good sequence. Kiryu's post credit ending hit me pretty hard, seeing him like that, Seeing Haruka again and Kiryu regaining his name again was too much for me
Overall 8.5/10 for me, loved it.
I reappears in 9 mysteriously fullty recovered but you'll have to play "Like a Dragon 2: The Man Who Erased his Skill Tree" to find out that he went to train with Komaki (in Hawaii so they can reuse the map) for a year regaining his abilities and uncovering a new world wide conspirancy also involving yakuza members at the same time.
I hated this side quest. It was not fun. I hated the stupid minigame to capture those buttholes. The story wasn't even good. The combat isn't really deep at all, it's stupid. Huge time waster.
I managed to get 3 Kiwami ones with the regular tickets at least so I'd say the rates are at least better than real gacha.

No, the rates are genuinely garbage. It also has a system where if you don't have the character the rates are even lower. Once you pull the character then they get a massively increased rate.
God, his black trenchcoat outfit is so fricking stupid.
I can't fricking believe they're sticking with the reused mole trenchcoat as his official design
Thoughts on how the cast will be in 9 and who may show up as playable? I feel like this what we're looking at: >adachi: mainstay >nanba: mainstay >saeko: needs to be here due to ichi's oneitis but hopefully isn't a c**t >zhao: should be playable as he's just a chef now and has all the free time in the world. gang needs a zoomer as well. >seonhee: hopefully nowhere near the cast now that kiryu is possibly gone. annoying c**t >joongi: a true question mark, was kind of forced in this one just to have the whole gang playable and to give ichi a 5th party member. can disappear >tomizawa: hawaiian. no way he's here unless he's on vacation or moves to japan >chitose: will be involved in some way but may not be playable >kiryu: please be retired >possible newcomers: eiba, yamai, a daidoji rep, akiyama as a wild card
Definitely felt forced. Even his drink link was just a little gag thing. I don't even mind Joongi but I think they don't really know where to take the character beyond him being a weird autist (which Kiryu kind of filled the niche of).
>hating on Seonhee
homie you gay? Though I do think she may be dropped for it simply because she spent the game bonding with Kiryu so she has little connection to Ichiban. Of course that could also be a reason to bring her back. And of course that she was made playable in the first place simply due to popularity.
I'd frick her but as a character she's annoying coomer bait. Literally zero presence beyond being a Kiryu fangirl and Powerful Underworld Woman. Saeko and Chitose are much better written.
>Do his karaoke >"Oh okay, I guess he really wants to have a normal romantic life I guess >Go do karaoke with the Yokohama party >Zhao has the same song and the same woman they lust for
i still don't know why zhao feels like an afterthought. like you literally made him just a regular chef now the guy has zero reason to not be gooning with the rest of the morons
Yup, you scream homosexual. Saeko was written like a b***h towards Ichiban and had less reason to be in the game than Seonhee who is at least popular. Also has reason to think she should be able to fight a bit. Note every time we get a cutscene fight Saeko is just there to help Kiryu up while the others actually fight.
Saeko is written like a woman. Annoying as frick, but a real woman. I literally say I hope she isn't a c**t. I don't play Yakuza games to goon but I respect you if you do. I'd rather not watch a worthless coombait character on my screen. Simple as.
Maybe I also like Seonhee as a character? Did that ever cross your mind, or is she too attractive to be considered decent? Also lol calling her coombait when Chitose is more sexualized. Or is this about Kiryu?

to be fair i assumed so because you called me gay initially so i though this was simply about seon feet. chitose is hot as frick but at least has a more engaging arc. if you like her as a character more power to you, she genuinely bores me. i'm not a homosexual and will never sexualize a man like kiryu that is somebody to be idolized

Anon you are on Ganker. Of course you're going to get called a homosexual. And while Chitose had the obvious arc I can see that people may still be a bit mixed on her since she did play a big role in fricking things up for everyone, even if she owned up to it in the end. And again, Saeko was the biggest afterthought in the game among females, to say nothing of her ghosting Ichiban. By comparison Seonhee showed a lot more of who she is in this game than in 7 even if she wasn't actually that important, which counts more for me.

oh i know i've been on this shithole for over 15 years, apologies brother. saeko felt like a piece of shit but i just want ichi to be happy and plow her

>adachi: playable but I'd prefer that he is non playable because he'll be old as frick but always in Survive so he can be a bro to Ichiban >nanba: same as Adachi although age isn't a reason for him so he'll be back >saeko: pregnant, non playable >zhao: cooking, shouldn't return >seonhee: married to me, non playable >joongi: I like him but he shouldn't return >tomizawa: out of the picture unless we go back to Hawaii. A shame because he's great. >chitose: probably npc but I really wish she'd be back, fricking loved her. >kiryu: retired or playable for a few chapters, really loved having him in the party so either way I'll be happy >possible newcomers: Yamai but I doubt it, he'll surely become the next Majima
We'll probably have Adachi and Nanba and two newcomers.
But man I really want Kiryu back just to see him and Ichiban interacting. It was wholesome and hilarious at the same time.
Nanba being a likeness actor I feel places it at a 50/50 now since he's going to be more expensive the more games he shows up in.
Adachi should be a mainstay and Zhao says he likes hanging around Ichiban so he'll stick around.
Saeko can stay in the story, but she might be used for plot reasons in the future instead of being only a party member.
It feels like RGG wants to get away from the Geomijul and the Liumang were only brought in for side stuff, so Joongi and Seonhee will probably disappear.
Tomi is in a similar case to Nanba but I think he'll be written away like Eri.
Chitose is a weird case since she's definitely popular, but there's no real reason for her to stick around, especially if Ichiban will be obsessed with Saeko for the future.
Kiryu will likely return, but maybe only as support and for story elements, maybe being temporarily playable.
For new party members, a lot of the new characters we got pretty much wrapped up their arcs so I'm not sure if they'll return (except Yamai, he's too popular not to), so we'll probably just get new faces since Ichiban is extremely adept at making new friends.
>Chitose is a weird case since she's definitely popular, but there's no real reason for her to stick around, especially if Ichiban will be obsessed with Saeko for the future.
She gets along too well with Ichiban, she is like a little sister to him. Besides she's not fully redeemed after all those things she did in 8. It would be nice to have her again in the party so she can actually be a good friend for Ichiban.
Immensely disappointed by the story but I did expect it to be shitty since Kiryu was announced to be a protag. Seems like they shoved him in while failing to rewrite shit.
it bugs me, because i wouldve strongly preferred kiryu to have a brawler segment, where its just not turn based combat and hes alone. But it makes sense that he is trying to rely on a party (due to the cancer). I think if kiryus segment was brawler based it shouldve been something like yakuza 1 PS2 where its all clunky but with hard feedback at the same time.
beat the frick out of them anon I had one of these encounters dragged out to about 10 minutes, compared to the maybe 30s-3min normal battles consistently took me
Every single homosexual b***hing about this didn't play the other games. Kiryu forgave Mine for everything he did within five minutes of meeting him, and was going to put his ass on the line to help scumbag Hamazaki too.
I mean, the whole theme of Infinite Wealth is about Forgiveness. Ichiban forgives Tomizawa and Eiji and Kiryu begs Ebina and Japanese society to forgive the Yakuzas and give them a chance
I feel like they've wrung the whole forgiveness angle of Ichiban a little too hard. It's starting to feel like their go to trick to make a heartfelt scene with him. I'm almost surprised they didn't make his mother one of the actual Palekana villains just so he could forgive her.
It actually made sense in Y7 as Masato was like a brother to him and Nanba saved his life. Cheetos scenes were actually really good but Eiji's really fell flat for me.
This scene kinda made me look at yagami's MUH-SAWA SENSEI in a different light even if it was annoying
Atleast yagami was hounding kuwana for the murders till the bitter end instead of forgiving him like some luffy wannabe
See I was telling people that muh sawa sensei is actually solid even if he could've used other points better. now i am vindicated
This scene kinda made me look at yagami's MUH-SAWA SENSEI in a different light even if it was annoying
Atleast yagami was hounding kuwana for the murders till the bitter end instead of forgiving him like some luffy wannabe
I don't know, I can buy Ichiban being like this, but it's harder to buy Yagami being like that.
Ichiban's practically has arrested development, but Yagami has been portrayed as someone who's colder and more pragmatic. It's not that I'm saying that him being emotionally motivated is wrong, but it should be presented with a more pragmatic veneer, even if it's just sophistry.
Genuinely looks like a garbage bag
They basically are. They're meant to be thrown away after a couple uses.
It's in character. It's still not really interesting, and it's something we've already seen done over and over again. Part of that is on Eiji though, they gave us very little reason to care.
It is something that the series has done over and over again, but Eiji is the first person in a really bad place who survives to accept the hero's help. I think it's also meaningful that Eiji accepts help specifically because he believes Ichiban means what he says about how it's possible to start over and how Ichiban will be there for him if he asks. If the story goes on to actually show Ichiban looking out for Eiji in the future, I'll be really satisfied with it. The lack of follow through on character relationships has always been an issue with this series.
As is, the only thing that doesn't really work for 8's Eiji story is that it's not fleshed out enough. We never learned or reacted enough to what turned Eiji to the dark side and messed him up so badly that he didn't mind hurting innocent people in the process of revenge. If Eiji actually does return, hopefully backstory will be addressed in detail.
>initially just ichiban and the sujimon professor have the same delusions about sujimons.
fair enough, they're just crazy frickers. >ichi goes to america (sujimon heartland), turns out sujimon are actually a real thing
what >kiryu's cancer-driven delirium makes him see sujimon the same way ichi sees them
ok what the frick is this some kind of they live-esque nightmare
Don't forget that the Sujimon are now able to think and understand they're cattle for "real trainers". The problem is they don't explain what a Sujimon truly is because Sodachi and his pupils are Sujimon despite just being a normal guy in 4 and his pupils are just slight perverts. Morikasa implies they're people who harbor bad intentions enough that it changes your perception of them but they also act like animals or just mindless slaves at times. The entire Sujimon concept makes no sense in terms of 8. In 7 it made sense because it was just how Ichiban and Morikasa perceived "bad" people.
There's also Joker who's basically Mewtwo and surpassed being just a normal sujimon. So I guess sujimonism is more like a state of mind and Sodachi and his students kinda devolved into it.
Same. Or when battle themes change or add something more to the original when you change something. Like how in Ishin, the battle theme changes when you switch styles (Brawler is original, Sword has the shamisen playing, Gunner has a wild west esque sound to it, Wild Flower has a classical guitar and clackers)
I feel like Ichiban has the same problem that Akiyama and Saejima had. They only had one game's worth of ideas for the character. I like all three of them, but they really felt like they had nothing interesting for Ichiban in the story.
It feels like they thought Ichiban meeting his mother was enough of an emotional story for him, but I really did not care about it at all.
Ichiban isn't the problem in 8. The game legitimately feels like it was once written entirely for him, then gutted so half the game could be given to Kiryu instead. Ebina being related to Ichiban amounts to nothing because Ichiban doesn't confront him and doesn't reflect on the fact that his beloved Arakawa fricked some other woman and threw her to the wind because she wasn't "the one". Ichiban trying to rescue his birth mother from the Arakawa's other son who hates the whole family's guts seems like a whole-ass Ichiban-centric story to me, especially when you factor in Eiji (another victim of Arakawa and the yakuza) and the resurgence of Bleach Japan (the product of Masato's hatred for Arakawa and yakuza).
Regardless of how it happened, 8 shipped with a story that lacks a personal conflict for Ichiban. Nothing that happens in the plot demands that he grow as a character or even be the driving force, because either Kiryu is there to hijack the main character spot or the issue at hand is of more relevance to someone else. The fact that this game doesn't actually give him anything to do other than forgive Tomi/Chitose/Eiji or sperg over Sa-chan doesn't mean there isn't anything he COULD do as a protagonist.
>another victim of Arakawa and the yakuza
It was probably Eiji that was meant to want Sawashiro's head on a platter, Ebina projecting his seethe at Arakawa onto him felt forced.
>The game legitimately feels like it was once written entirely for him, then gutted so half the game could be given to Kiryu instead
I don't see this at all. It just seems like they never intended to do anything deeper with Ichiban in this game than meeting his mother and dealing with the monster of the week (Bryce). If Kiryu's half of the story didn't exist, I don't see where any kind of growth for Ichiban as a character would have come from. They just shoved those parts of his half of the game onto Chitose, Tomizawa and crowbar man.
Bryce is a shallow as frick character who could have could have easily been merely a pawn of Ebina's. Hawaii's plotline feeling half-assed, Yamai's finale being awkwardly squished into Ichiban's brief return to Yokohama, and Ichiban going after Eiji on his own at the end all feel like evidence to me that Ichiban was supposed complete the last leg of the story in Japan himself. Lani also feels like a last minute addition to the story; he barely says anything for the whole game and no one in the party interacts with her. The game wouldn't change at all if you replaced Lani with a letter that Akane happened to find at a Palekana facility. The fact that Bryce wants Akane captured alive is another oddity that reeks of Ebina being the original mastermind and final boss. Ebina has good reason to want to put Arakawa's woman through hell. Bryce on the other hand has absolutely nothing to gain and plenty to lose from letting her live.
I agree with most of your post, just not really the conclusion that Ichiban was meant to wrap things up in Japan. I think the idea they were going for was that Ichiban would handle the aspect of the story related to Kiryu (he's driven by Lani since she reminds him of Haruka), while Kiryu handled the part closer related to Ichiban (Eibina being his brother).
I think it was just meant to show that Kiryu and Ichiban trust each other enough to handle the other's business, essentially. I get not liking it though, I think the ending was weak for a number of reasons, not really convinced there was last minute changes or anything though.
Anyone else feel like WAY too much of this games story was in the substory format instead of actual cinematic cutscenes. I know not everything needs to be prerendered but it seems like 85% of events in this bloatfest were just characters standing in a line or a circle and occasionally doing a canned animation. Previous Yakuza games were far more cinematic at least whenever you were involved in the main plot but here it felt like substories and the vast majority of the main plot were given the same budget.

>Sorry Eichan, but if you want me to forgive you, you're going to have to go to jail >It's ok that you were complicit in the murder of two innocent men, Chitose, you're my friend either way!
Ichiban gives them the same amount of forgiveness. Eiji needs to go to jail for kidnapping and because the Yakuza will kill him if he remains out in the open.
>Chitose got multiple people murdered >Ruined hundreds of people's lives >Sabotaged any attempt at rehabilitation of past criminals >Gets rewarded by becoming the CEO of a megacorp
I was fine with her rejoining since I figured she'd be fricked and expelled from her family, getting rewarded after all of that shit just felt lame.
Since the security company went under and the shady dealings were on the Tojo side (Daigo is the one who made them), Watase probably broke away from them to not draw too much attention to his guys and the 3 went to a remote location as not to be hounded.
it's kinda annoying when the cast is sperging out over nuclear waste when IRL nuclear waste is relatively safer to deal with and less environmentally damaging compared to the amount of pollution other non-renewable energy sources cause
like the main difference is that you actually have to put the nuclear waste somewhere safe and sealed off which many countries do without an issue and can do so for an very long time
>Sleeper agent, you must go to this store and rough them, tell them they're going to be a boba tea store >Then I'll come in and tell you to stop, at that point you will pull a gun on me and shoot >But get this! It's a gun I sabotaged, it'll shoot you in the eye instead >This way your gang that already works under me, will respect me more
>This way your gang that already works under me, will respect me more
I thought it was a ploy to impress Ichiban and make him think Bryce was some kind of actual holy man.
It could also be that one of the other guys was an agent and purposefully rigged the gun. In the cutscene, the other 2 guys are ducking behind the guy aiming the gun but aren't doing anything against Bryce.
Am I missing something with the start NG+ achievement? Got to gameplay on both normal and hard on NG+ and it didn't pop. Was last one I was aiming to get before I uninstall.
The overall plot and ending had issues but I did like the final confrontation Kiyru had with Ebina. Kiyru wasn't mad or upset with Ebina's motivations, he completely understood why Ebina did the shit he did and felt remorseful that if Kiyru did more shit right, he could have prevented the shit that happened to Ebina.
I mean frick, I'd be pissed too if the random homosexual yakuza that I had to regularly fight while going to the nearby Poppo got to have a clean slate.
so what are the most useless jobs in the game so far?
idol feels like it got outclassed in every way except for that one skill that heals all ailments which I found kinda useful
speaking of daidoji plot devices where the frick are nishitani III and shishido? all this focus was put on them being taken to the daidoji rape caves but they are never mentioned again
IIRC Gaiden was made after the story was Y8 was finalized. Might explain why Hanawa's death didn't really upset Kiyru too much despite going to great lengths to save his ass in Gaiden.
Saejima was in prison for 25 years and he was on death row. He escaped from prison before he could be executed. Then he went back to prison for reasons I can't recall.
>hanawa given all this focus in gaiden, ending the game by revealing that he has a secret identity >all this speculation on which presumed dead character will be revealed as hanewa's true identity in infinite wealth >instead hanewa is completely irrelevant to the plot and is anticlimatically killed by a random goon, and is barely mentioned again
I'm still mad
PS3 or emulation? Because if you're emulating you need some settings (Picture related) to tone down the occasional crashing (It still will but not as much as if you didn't have the right settings). If you're on PS3 be prepared for like 15-18 FPS constants with drops.
In terms of gameplay Akiyama is the best character to play as in PA due to him having the best gun and you want to unlock Head Tracking ASAP as that's how the early game combat works. You do not aim manually, you auto-aim and shoot heads. Once you can obtain a copy of a Bull's-Eye Amulet (It's a lime green one that says アタレ on it) all the gameplay shifts from auto-aim to mashing R1 and running around like a headless chicken unless you are fighting Meatheads, Hermits, Diptera, or Aggros and even then Diptera can be handled fine with mashing they just have iframes when swaying from side to side.
If you are planning to do side content be forewarned that hostesses require you to zone out of the QZ after hitting their 5/10/15/20 heart thresholds in order to get an e-mail from them at which point you need to visit their club again. If you want your partners to hit the broadside of a barn you need to train them at the boot camp for like 10 minutes.
When you get to the Underground Subterranea you basically want to just run around looking for full length barricades. If you find an area of the map with a barricade that's the correct way to go to find the exit. After like 10 floors you're just gonna want to speedrun it because Amon takes a total of like 135 across all three characters.
Emulation, yeah, since I know the PS3 version notoriously runs pretty poorly and the PC port can make it somewhat serviceable. Thanks for the settings, I'll tinker around with it once I get everything set up and ready to go.
Make sure you also grab the US version. The PAL version is lacking a bunch of free DLC the US got which gave out materials for crafting (Allows you to get the Handcannon just a bit earlier than normal) and I believe PA outfits?
I loved it but it isn't as good as 7 was, Bryce was built up way too much for the payoff we got. I was expecting a mystic lava pope with weird powers and all I got was an butthole that kills his own men for no reason, it was such a letdown and wasn't even done in a good way. The Ebina fight was great and Kiryu had a very ichi ending. Over all I give it a 9.3/10
At which level should I use my level boosters? I am at level 59
wait for level 99
>Chitose was the best new character in this game
For me it was Best Boy™ Tomizawa.
I really liked Chitose's initial hairstyle.
I disliked her midway hairstyle change....
It went from something very uncommon for asain girls.... to generic garbage.
Most homosexual post in this thread
Cheetos is so perfect
>Chitose was the best new character in this game but I don't think she's ever coming back.
You misspelled Yamai
I honestly expected them to be the big bad in 8, though I guess they could still pull it off with some moronic twist.
the game is 14 chapters of fillers
having to do the game twice (japan and hawai) is a joke
the 2 optionnal dungeons being the same cloned shit is a bad joke
seems like it got good reviews only because it contained woke shit
>it contained woke shit
such as?
he is just parroting whatever his favorite streamer says
Watch the asmongold video he goes over this
god i hope you're just trolling.
zoomers unironically worship asmongold
It’s called why Japanese games go woke. he went hard after this franchise.
only actual trannies watch asmongold
Asmongold is centre right. he’s just taking a stand against woke in video games. It already got the western games industry and now is influencing eastern games like this one.
Define woke
Identity politics like when nanba went off saying saeko is a strong woman who don’t need no man.
>identity politics
I dont think you know what that means
>nanba went off saying saeko is a strong woman who don’t need no man.
how did you misunderstand this scene so bad?
the dude has been a loser from the very start he has no opinion he just says whatever fringe opinion he can to get stream donations. No fricking wonder Gen Z is fricked up you guys are out here worshiping the literal bottom barrel e-celebs you can find
>thinking a literal who WoW streamer who literally lets roaches crawl on him and eats maggot-infested, weeks-old food has any sway over the industry
it depresses me that a personality-barren hack like him has enough sway to revive monster hunter world on steam.
look, we're in the same timeline where fricking egoraptor is the ambassador for sonic. the guy who does nothing but shit on the classic games' design because he literally does not understand how to play fricking sonic
He hasn't been the ambassador since some time before Frontiers came out, it's Korone the vtuber now or something.
>get to bottom of hawaii haunt
>the final boss
holy frick, this might have been the first difficult fight in the whole game even if that was because i was like six levels below him. good fight why did they give robo-michio teeth
for the love of god please stop going to bat for your dipshit WoW streamer. i don't care who he is, what his political stance is, or how he Epicly Owned The RGG Team just shut the FRICK up.
>I also dislike how Ichi keeps treating Eiji like he's their friend even though he's in this whole mess because Eiji forced Chitose to expose Ichi and Kiryu, Eiji also practically killed Hanawa and that chinese guy.
I think something was cut prior to launch. Eiji's arc would have made way more sense if he was actually a party member.
Would he get his own wheelchair classes?
I meant I was hoping he would get his own set of classes like ren faire jouster or hacker that can summon drones like those enemies.
The frick ever happened to Katsuya, anyway? He didn't even show up for the great dissolution
Still probably dealing with the fallout from Haruka's nuke at the end of 5. RIP T-Set
that moment might actually be the worst moment in the series. why the frick did they do this to haruka
He's a likeness character
>Ebara
Wong is the worst character in this game. you could erase him from existence and it would change nothing.
He got did so fricking dirty, he could've been a party member and bonded with kiryu over having a child to protect
I wouldn't say it would change nothing since he info dumps the entire Bryce shit to the party. It's just he as a character is irrelevant, the role of the Gangzhe leader that gives the party a lead could be anyone and nothing would change.
him and hanawa death was the most stupid shit ever
your party which had kicked ass so far, then ichiban being held back by like two goons
Anyway, they were confused from Eiji's betrayal and couldn't really organize which is a death sentence for a group like theirs.
not reading your blog shill
Yeah the story is sloppy after the start. The exact same pattern repeats over and over too.
>Lol you think those spy gadgets work? We checked you out electronically before you even stepped into our building.
I'm surprised Wong didn't also go
>Also Kiryu wouldn't stop tapping his glasses while he talked to himself even in our elevator, do you think we're stupid?
if gaiden never came out, and it was just LJ (with nagoshi involvement) and then lad8 (without nagoshi involvement). i would've legitimately be worried about this series.
Still hacking away
I think it's top in the top 5 for me tbh.
Yakuza 0, 6, 7, Gaiden and 8.
My ranking would probably be 0 > 6 > 8 > Gaiden > 7
On chapter 6. Should I chill and fix the island or go back to Hawaii?
go back
if you need money, the optional dungeons are a lot faster (and also give xp, and equipment)
the island is a waste of time
It's up to you, you can go whenever you want so do it at your own pace or hell don't do it at all.
Game's finally picking up now that Zhao is in the gang and we finally know what the frick the villains are up to.
what's the best skills to inherit for everyone?
surfer's second heal
samurai arrow (even more busted than aoe essences)
host birthday bash 2
you need nothing else
Just inherit elemental attacks, samurai attack buff, kunoichi turn pass, heals and whatever else you want
football essence
>7 levels higher
>ultimate weapons at lvl 40
literally any attack all ability would do that in those circumstances
great but it does 60% of Dondoko Beam's damage at nearly half the cost and I spammed it from beginning of the game to the end.
All the good stuff from Surfer and Cowboy is all you need.
Can yamai even be arrested for his crimes? he did the murder 30 years ago.
In Japan, there is no statute of limitations for murder, so his confession counts as evidence.
>stuck on the secret Yagami boss fight that's triggered right after he hears Ichiban saying that Sawa-shiro was a huge c**t
I'M GONNA SUE YOU
It pissed me off when tomizawa was giving chitose flack for betraying them and ichiban told him off saying he betrayed yamai. Yamai is evil and yakuza completely different situation.
>Yamai is evil and yakuza
Nope, and being yakuza isn't an inherently bad thing in this series.
>have played all the yakuza titles
>feel like an old fart doing all the memoirs of a dragon stuff
>feel bad about myself
>quickly reminded Kiryu was fricking 37 years old in yakuza 1
Was Yakuza 1/2 hd ever released outside japan physically?
That would be really hard to find out, I bet.
I was looking for a copy of the ps3 version on ebay but theyre all in japanese and i don't read moonrunes
So like whats goros deal? Is he just a homosexual that wants to suck kiryus wiener?
Who?
No, he wants to do way more than just suck Kiryu's wiener. He wants to frick Kiryu's ass too.
Lǎo Guǐ should be the villian of the next game
The only redeemable aspect of the story are Tomizawa, Chitose and Yamai.
Ebina was very underdeveloped. His relation to Kasuga is interesting but it wasn't explored
Bryce is a meme and a complete pushover
Mine was definitely the last good antagonist of a mainline game. They need to revive him somehow
>somehow
it's yakuza, at this point i'm convinced the only guys who actually died are shimano and kazama.
I agree with you. The 8 story killed my desire to play th next ones, i gonna buy when gonna get a heavy discount.
If Mine was revived, would Rikiya then be the only person who died in 3?
>Kashiwagi gets swiss-cheesed by a minigun
>survived
>Lau Ka Long takes a bullet in the brain
>survived
>Richardson falls from the millennium tower
>survived
Not to mention
>Mikio takes a sledgehammer to the back of the neck after getting shot in the leg for extra blood loss, survives
>Daigo gets shot and goes into a coma, survives
>Nakahara gets shot, survives
>Kiryu gets stabbed in the stomach, survives
Imagine being so uncool that you actually die in this series.
falls from the millennium tower
Please, we all know how he lived.
I'm pretty Kiwami 3 will retcon a lot of things if it happens. Never liked Rikiya's bootlicker attitude anyway
*sure
Kanda will have to get one of those head jars from Futurama
Kanda isn't a person, he's a Sujimon.
Judgment 3 when?
i was going to try it but after seeing that once agains there is no hot chicks to be seen i didnt
But chitose was created for the sole purpose of inserting a hit chick
post her coomer outfits
CheetoSEX supremacy
Bryce will escape from prison he literally controls hawaii ichiban should’ve let him jump.
worst yakuza game i've played, and i've 100%ed all of them. i'm not saying this to be contrarian, i genuinely mean it. the story was trash. the music was trash. the characters are trash.
They should’ve played the original receive you at the end of chapter 14 not some dubstep remix
Does danny trejo join the party?
No, he's an antagonist.
Joongi han was also an antagonist
Zhao was also an antagonist
Seonhee was also an antagonist
He pisses himself
great fun, well improved combat over its predecessor
story kinda doodoo, seems very half-baked
I have never played Yakuza. Is it worth picking up all of them while they’re on sale on steam? Is the samurai one good too?
All the games except 3 are movie slop. Avoid at all cost
Top five reasons why Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth SUCKS!
1. No Alo-Happy costumes
2. No Alo-Happy party member
3. No Alo-Happy Poundmate
4. No Alo-Happy Minigame (think FNAF 3) because if we're ripping off nintendo games for side content, why not branch out to indie horror bullshit
5. Alo-Happy is not real
I'm at 100 hours and haven't finished it yet, there's an absolute shit ton to go through if you actually listen to all conversations.
Im 50 hours in and im almost done with all the sub stories in chapter 5 that don't require me to be level 40
Yeah and chapter 5 is still pretty early on
That scene where it was revealed that Ei could walk and Ichiban was really the one in the wheelchair the whole time was insane.
Classic Kojimbo
what the frick there are 14 chapters in this game??? i'm at 11 and it feels like the game's story just started picking up.
it fizzles really quickly after that.
actually so upset by how much I dislike this game, one of the worst put together narratives in an rgg game.
I want to play but nobody uploaded the latest patch for ps4 so ai can't pirate it
Frick off Brazilian money
So now that kiryu has his name back is date dead?
Wtf was date the one who stole his name?
These times are wildly inaccurate. Mine says 120 hours but my save file is just over 100.
In game probably doesn't count pause time, steam does.
PSN time counts however long you've been in-game even if you're home buttoned out or paused.
In-game time only counts active playtime which includes pause menus if I remember right. That's why they're wildly inaccurate. Your PSN/Steam time is technically the most accurate measure of how long you played.
Is the game hard on new game plus?
Not gonna buy the israeli DLC
I just cleared Ijincho in chapter 8, am I safe to leave Kamurocho till later? Will the story take me there or should I go clear it before moving on to chapter 9?
I haven't bought it.
?si=4RnsfO6QSlIBva9C
Best boss theme
Starting the EX level of Yokohoma's dungeon, what level should the team be before Amon?
I think I scraped through it with most guys at 50-53
The main story was sort of weak, but that aside it felt like a direct upgrade from 7. I enjoyed it, best game I played in 2024 so far.
did anyone else notice they fricked up and called shin amon, jo amon?
I'm on chapter 11, overall it's better than 7 with a few caveats, I don't like Dondoko Island and preferred the business management sims in the other games, and this game is somehow even easier than y7 if that's even possible.
yakuza 7 combat and leveling is fricking garbage in comparison to how it is in infinite wealth
I still don't like the new combat system. I don't even mind it being turn-based but it's just too generic and simplistic to really be enjoyable. It really could use a little more complexity.
Wait for the brawler mod then
Why does everyone hate Ebina?
He wasn't the best villain in the series but I really like him. He reminds me of Iwami, not really memorable but a perfect embodiment of the themes of the game and a suitable foe to Kiryu so he can close his story.
I also found pretty funny that he knew his plan wasn't going to work because Bryce was fricking stupid but he was just going along with it in order to kill as many yakuza as possible.
And yeah, him being Ichiban's brother was kind of dumb but whatever, we've seen way worse asspulls in these games.
Besides the fight was cool and his theme is fricking sick:
Why did he have a back tattoo? it seemed out of place for his character.
Bryce should’ve had a cool cult tattoo tbh
The people who really need to have a tattoo are Yamai and Zhao.
He wouldn't be able to take over the Seiryuu clan without a cool tattoo. The tattoo gives him credibility.
Eiji was willing to kill children if it meant killing Yakuza, not that hard to believe someone could get a tattoo in order to deep cover himself long enough to put his plan into action.
Did Sawashiro die?
No one in this series dies except Nishiki.
Young Master Arakawa will be back to "rise from the shadows" alongside Ichiban like Ichiban offered.
>like a dragon 9: Rock bottom
>Main party: Masato, ebina, eiji, nishitani, shishido
they set this up im telling you
>Nishitani
I liked him even more when I read up that his face/voice actor is a Korean kek
>Masato and Eiji in the same party
Sounds dangerous
Would you play a kiwami 3?
i guarantee that the next brawler will be this, they aren't going to let those hawaii assets be used once and then dumped
Hawaii will be the setting of Dead Souls 2.
Man I'd love a Kiwami 3 fixing that combat. The story will still suck but at least I want to have fun playing that game.
Yes. I unironically enjoy the story of 3.
i loved doing the okinawa stuff where i helped the kids arround. it was very relaxing seeing the orphanage and its beach
I finished it, gameplay wise it's an 8/10 for me but I wish It was just a Kiryu game. Ichiban doesn't do it for me. I hate how over the top he is with I MUST FORGIVE ANYONE NO MATTER HOW EVIL!!
That blenderslop is uncanny as frick.
It's the secret 100% ending
How much am I missing by not doing the Hawaii/Yokohama dungeons? I did all the substories/drink links/bucket list but that ending killed my desire to go back to the game.
You miss out on the only hard boss in the game
Which boss?
No, I'm only on chapter like 6 lmao, I'm savoring it because once I finish it then I won't have any more Yakuza to play for like 3 years.
Leaving thread now to avoid the worst
>I guess Han and Zhao won't return as companions in 9 and I guess either Tomi or Cheetos will be out aswell, but they should really drop other characters like Adachi or Nanba so we can see new additions
>no mention of Saeko
I hope she gets booted.
Absolutely, she's the most boring character but she's also Ichiban's gf so we'll see her again by his side in 9.
Don't worry, they can kick her out by making her pregnant.
this would be too good for ichiban they wont do it, he must be punished further.
>Saeko and Ichiban get together during the timeskip between games
>Saeko announces pregnancy at start of game
>Ichiban happiest he's ever been
>Saeko is killed by plot contrivances
>
>
>profit
>our guy Ichi has a phone call to make.
>"Kiryu-san, happy 60th birthday. Btw are you free right now? I need your help carrying my own game once again."
7 was great, and he did well on his own, 8 suffered due to trying to shoehorn Kiryu in.
Let's hope it happens.
they could just have her pull a park and make her get an abortion without telling the husband
I beat Joongi was pretty forced in considering he only joins for you effectively one chapter.
At least his drink link is hilarious and makes up for it.
>grinded the frick out of the dungeons with ichibans team before chapter 13
>chapter 13 the korean comes to "help" when im "stuck" in a bind
>all my encounters are pretty much smackdowns because of how overleveled I am
So much for his help but Im sticking with adachi
That's more of an issue with the fricked pacing of the second half of the game than anything else. His drink link revealing he wasn't actually following Seonhee's orders and went to Hawaii on his own initiative is decent character development by itself.
I don't know why anyone wants Wong Tou as a party member. He could have been a better NPC but there's nothing about that dumb butthole that would have made me want to see his Bond Bingo.
I think people just want him to do literally anything other than tell you Bryce is a bad guy.
Chitose is a better character and companion than Saeko was in 7 and 8 combined.
>muh Asmon said
lets think about this for a minute
kill zoomers
roundhouse kick a zoomer into the concrete
slam dunk a zoomer into the trashcan
crucify filthy zoomers
defecate in a zoomer's food
hmm i was going to listen to what Asmon said but you bring up some eloquent points
I think I might be the only person who had Han join at above Ichiban group's level lol.
Fun game with that said, dumb as hell but hey.
I liked the part where Kiryu is finally reunited with Haruka.
Read the synopsis on Wikipedia.
"Meanwhile, Kiryu's adopted daughter Haruka Sawamura and her son Haruto visit Kiryu at the hospital just as he's about to receive treatment. When the doctor asks to confirm his name, Kiryu, no longer needing to fake his death, answers with his real name."
Okay that's it, we never got to see a reunion between them
Cope?
>waits 5 years for on screen reunion
SAD! MANY SUCH CASES!
Cope.
Cope
>ignores the fact that Kiryu is indeed reunited with Haruka, canonically
I accept for concession.
>for concession
Haha you typo'd that automatically means I WIN!!!!!
Jokes aside I know they did reunite but I wish it was on screen
"For" was Swipe messing up and me not proofreading. At the gym on a bike and phoneposting, my bad.
Holy frick this. I think the devs think fans are tired of Kiryu but we're actually just sick of Ichiban and want Kiryu back.
I'd be down for that.
bar in yakuza 9 will be a sports bar run by shinada trust the process. yamai will be a party member.
Shinada's not dead though. Only dead people can run bars except for Date's wife.
This is the bartender
running the "hole-in-the-heart" dive bar
Mine will run the bar, but he has amnesia. Ichiban will bring Daigo to the bar, but Mine will not recognize Daigo.
Fun to play stupid to think about.
> Level up job
> +1 to MP
> game is still bugged so you get +0 to MP
Still not fixed yet.
So I guess Steam doesn't count the MVB achievements in order to get the "All Achievements" achievement.
Wait, so you don't need the greedy DLC to get that?
I CreamAPI'd the MVB and got the achievement for starting NG+, but I don't have the achievements for beating NG+ on Hard or Legend yet and I was farming the Poundmates one when I got it.
How is she still so fricking hot after all the years? In fact, she's hotter due to better graphics on the ps5.
bump
She remained pure waiting for Kiryu.
When he fully recovers they'll make up for lost time and they'll have hot steamy sex every single minute of the day.
That's actually why won't see Kiryu anymore.
I swear, Kiryu is gay as frick for not marrying her already.
>Haruka
wasn't the main complaint about her that she actually looked too young for her age?
She looks fine in 8. She just needs longer hair as they gave her a pretty weird hairstyle.
I thought this was Makoto for some reason.
>Majima sees her
>Gets PTSD
Someone on the team has a ridiculous hard-on for short hair with sideswept bangs.
No, she's supposed to look like her mom, Yumi, before she died.
I still have no idea how people are seeing Yumi and not Nanoha, it's baffling to me. They just slapped her face onto the body and used the exact same hair. She even has the same flaring on the back of it. The only change is the turtleneck color.
LMAO SHE'S WEARING THE SAME OUTFIT TOO HOLY SHIT
Nanoha is a qt
>Haruka got turned into a reused asset
Yakuza has fallen
why would they bother, nobody likes Haruka post 5 anyways
HOLY SHIT KEK I ASSUMED YUMI BECAUSE OF HER SHORT HAIR LIKE YUMI'S LMAOOOO
if i was in yoko hama in 2020 i wouldve fricked her in her ps4 pussy
anglefrauding
It's yumi's hair in 1 so it's going to stay that way.
Yumi was a curvy mature lady while Haruka is a stick. It doesn't suit her like it suited Yumi.
They really need to fix her chinlet condition because it makes her still look like a child
homie.. you made it look worse
How is this fine? Legit looks younger than she did in 6 somehow.
>Legit looks younger than she did in 6
She doesn't.
That legit looks like the same face as the baby from Death Stranding
Ichiban got raped.
Multiple times even, sexual assault on men is still okay to joke about in Japan
i was so happy when that gay at the vocational school got ntr'd
what the FRICK is wrong with all the girls ichiban meets
>Localizers changed the cheating bit to 'polyamory representation!'
>Didn't do anything about the rape
What did they mean by this?
Yes, he did. Multiple times. And HE watched.
>watched
He participated.
Also got raped by Alo Happy & the Tours Lady.
Ichiban's got nature rizz. Even Chi-chan wants him. Look at how easily he got Tomi to switch teams.
If Ichiban wanted... he can be a harem protag.
I'd say that only works if he isn't actively pursuing them though, given that Saeko essentially dumps him.
>I felt that ichiban having a thing for saeko was incredibly forced and was only brought upon due to nanba and adachi jokingly egging him on.
Did you miss 7?
>Kashiwagi just standing there
i didnt do any of the romance stuff in 7 but if i recall correctly you can date multiple girls and stuff. i just remember that the opening scene for lad8 is ichiban and the party having fun then when saeko leaves, nanba (or adachi) starts saying "lol saeko right? you want to frick her haha? Go frick her, shes a lady after all. Haha" and it just became autism after that.
Sure, but 7 established he had a thing for her. You also had Saeko saying random stuff like this.
BITCH
c**t
sir do not redeem
He got raped by
>Maeda
>Elizabeth and Alo-Happy
>Chitose Buster Holmes and then subsequently pummeled by Gary Buster Holmes
>Julie, who also increased his agility
>Miss Match
And several randoms from the Miss Match app, holy frick what mess
I presumed he just ran away from those since the screen doesn't fade to pink unlike the others.
Where the frick do I even find the post cards to get raped by Alo-Happy?
Shop just below the Art Walls text on the map.
i wish chitose buster holmes would rape me
Did we really need 6 substories of Ichiban getting raped?
>japanese """""humor"""""
Nice little cameo from Judgement bros.
A couple other references in various party talks.
So uh, did Sawashiro die? I kind of mentally clocked out after Kiryu started crying.
Definitely not, he opens his remaining eye to glaze kiryu for a second and then it cuts, so hes fine.
nah, he was still alive. Just barely enough to see the end of the boss fight and be super impressed.
You know what, now that some time have passed and I've sat on it and pondered, I think I have a more positive impression of the ending. Anyone here with a similar experience?
The issue is that the endings were quite clearly butchered and redone, you can't look at the Hawaiin ending and say that something fricky didn't happen.
There are just too many plotholes in it.
What the frick ever happened to Ichiban's senbai empire?
What ever happened to Eri-chan? She was your party member in the previous game.
He gave the company to Eri so he could do his yakuza rehab. Eri is travelling the globe to sell senbei.
he willingly gave it up in order to be at hello work and integrate yakuza into society full time, and eri is in america heading the holdings company in his place. Why he doesnt have any sort of financial stake in it or anything like that is more the real plothole.
BEST BOY
BEST BOY
BEST BOY
Even though he was kinda underdeveloped, I honestly really like his evil cult schtick, I think it's very amusing.
His English in the Jap dub is hilariously bad for someone who's supposed to be a native speaker. It really caught me off guard.
You just know Kiryu is gonna beat cancer. Tho he looks like shit at the end due to chemo.
That's the point. He finds a reason to live (spoiler: it's friendship)
Convenient so they can make him start at lvl 1 in the next game due to being weakened.
Your boy Akiyama is back.
I LOVE SEONHEE I LOVE SAEKO I LOVE CHITOSE AND MOST OF ALL I LOVE HARUKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>ichiban doesn't actually start dating saeko
>kiryu doesn't actually reunite with haruka
>kiryu doesn't actually die
Just beat the game and I understand why people are calling it filler. Really disappointing.
>Kiryu dies on screen
>Game sets it up to be the big bad who did it
>It was actually the Amon clan fulfilling their word
The fact that Ebina is Kasuga's half brother and they don't even fricking talk about it together is probably the worst writing in the game. What a wasted plot point.
>villain literally screams "I AM LIKE THE MAIN CHARACTER!!! IT'S AS IF HE IS LE GOOD AND I ON THE OTHER HAND AM LE EVIL!!!!"
>main character is in another country and hears none of this
some real Aizawa "why am I even here" energy
Did anyone even tell Ichi that he was related to Ebina?
yea.... Kiryu does when they were at the hobo castle.
>He had a chance to change the yakuza as a whole
Frick exactly was he gonna change? It's not like he really knew the scope of their problems all the way back in 3.
He probably could've prevented crazy motherfrickers like Hikawa who send out hit squads on pregnant women from becoming patriarchs.
That was well before his time.
Shit wrong quote.
Meant for
I would say it was worth the wait, it was my most hyped game in years and it delivered on almost every front. Party Chat needs to be a staple of the series now, it's so much fun listening to characters banter about random things.
I liked Ichiban's ending with Eiji, even if it was pretty underdeveloped. it was a really good sequence.
Kiryu's post credit ending hit me pretty hard, seeing him like that, Seeing Haruka again and Kiryu regaining his name again was too much for me
Overall 8.5/10 for me, loved it.
>and Kiryu regaining his name again
I imagine Daidoji fraction probably released Kiryu thinking he's gonna die soon to cancer anyway.
But then he doesn't...
Like a Dragon: The Last Dance with Kiryu destroying those buttholes while Ichiban finds that the old guy in the wheelchair is his brother somehow.
Saeko is a b***h. Who the frick ghost people for a entire year? It's a dumb women moment that lasted a entire fricking year.
She honestly doesn't deserve Ichban.
i agree
she deserves me instead
I hated this side quest. It was not fun. I hated the stupid minigame to capture those buttholes. The story wasn't even good. The combat isn't really deep at all, it's stupid. Huge time waster.
It was fun for a very brief while. Then you realize the combat is absolutely terrible, not an ounce of depth or any tactics involved at all.
All the time I spent on this shitty minigame, I was thinking I rather play Palworld.
Honestly the gacha rolling was the most fun part and that says a lot about it
the rates were garbage. The only saving grace is that it wasn't a real money gacha.
I managed to get 3 Kiwami ones with the regular tickets at least so I'd say the rates are at least better than real gacha.
No real reason not to be besides balance
Yeah, though balance seems kinda meaningless since I tried the Sujimancer class with maxed out lvl 50 Kiwami-mons and the class was still ass.
No, the rates are genuinely garbage. It also has a system where if you don't have the character the rates are even lower. Once you pull the character then they get a massively increased rate.
If the last chapter didn't take place in Ijincho I was just gonna dump every last cent on that thing trying to fill my dossier
So, why the frick is she the head of the Fujinomiya conglomerate after announcing all of her blackmail and manipulation?
Dude have you seen how fricking cute she is?
She could blackmail me for years and I wouldn't hate her for it.
Pretty sure japs take responsibility for big shit like that by stepping down. And she's likely the next in line so she was forced to take control.
She walked around bare feet and they didn;t have a choice
> flexes by showing you his kouhai waifu
oppa!
God, his black trenchcoat outfit is so fricking stupid.
I can't fricking believe they're sticking with the reused mole trenchcoat as his official design
Genuinely looks like a garbage bag
if ebina hates yakuza so much why did he get a yakuza tattoo
Shut up; we needed the funny suit moment.
it was part of the yakuza boss facade
does money carry over into new game+?
>alo-happy wasn't the actual final boss
>or a secret boss
>or amon in disguise
so many missed opportunities in this fricking game.
Why can't they give Kiryu a moment of peace in his life
He'll finally have it in the next game.
Yakuza Kiwami 3[spoiler]
Thoughts on how the cast will be in 9 and who may show up as playable? I feel like this what we're looking at:
>adachi: mainstay
>nanba: mainstay
>saeko: needs to be here due to ichi's oneitis but hopefully isn't a c**t
>zhao: should be playable as he's just a chef now and has all the free time in the world. gang needs a zoomer as well.
>seonhee: hopefully nowhere near the cast now that kiryu is possibly gone. annoying c**t
>joongi: a true question mark, was kind of forced in this one just to have the whole gang playable and to give ichi a 5th party member. can disappear
>tomizawa: hawaiian. no way he's here unless he's on vacation or moves to japan
>chitose: will be involved in some way but may not be playable
>kiryu: please be retired
>possible newcomers: eiba, yamai, a daidoji rep, akiyama as a wild card
It felt like they hated bringing back Joongi in 8.
Definitely felt forced. Even his drink link was just a little gag thing. I don't even mind Joongi but I think they don't really know where to take the character beyond him being a weird autist (which Kiryu kind of filled the niche of).
I'd frick her but as a character she's annoying coomer bait. Literally zero presence beyond being a Kiryu fangirl and Powerful Underworld Woman. Saeko and Chitose are much better written.
>Do his karaoke
>"Oh okay, I guess he really wants to have a normal romantic life I guess
>Go do karaoke with the Yokohama party
>Zhao has the same song and the same woman they lust for
Oh frick off.
i still don't know why zhao feels like an afterthought. like you literally made him just a regular chef now the guy has zero reason to not be gooning with the rest of the morons
By comparison Seonhee showed a lot more of who she is in this game than in 7 even if she wasn't actually that important, which counts more for me.
oh i know i've been on this shithole for over 15 years, apologies brother. saeko felt like a piece of shit but i just want ichi to be happy and plow her
>hating on Seonhee
homie you gay? Though I do think she may be dropped for it simply because she spent the game bonding with Kiryu so she has little connection to Ichiban. Of course that could also be a reason to bring her back. And of course that she was made playable in the first place simply due to popularity.
>adachi: playable but I'd prefer that he is non playable because he'll be old as frick but always in Survive so he can be a bro to Ichiban
>nanba: same as Adachi although age isn't a reason for him so he'll be back
>saeko: pregnant, non playable
>zhao: cooking, shouldn't return
>seonhee: married to me, non playable
>joongi: I like him but he shouldn't return
>tomizawa: out of the picture unless we go back to Hawaii. A shame because he's great.
>chitose: probably npc but I really wish she'd be back, fricking loved her.
>kiryu: retired or playable for a few chapters, really loved having him in the party so either way I'll be happy
>possible newcomers: Yamai but I doubt it, he'll surely become the next Majima
I'm at chapter 10, waiting for when I can buy a new graphics card because I'm tired of playing the game at 25 fps
Damn dude even with all the far options? What gpu do you have?
1050ti
Its a horribly old PC that's overstayed its welcome
Seonhee and Joongi will always be relevant as long as the Geomijul exists and the plot requires their magical hacking and information powers.
why are all the party members asian. setting the game in hawaii was an opportunity to add a white person or something
Japan is allowed to be racist, chud. I mean even the guy called "Eric" is Japanese
It's not like they haven't had AI helpers in brawler segments, just have co op heat actions do more damage than trying to solo everything.
HELP THESE FRICKERS WONT STOP RESPAWNING
beat the frick out of them anon
I had one of these encounters dragged out to about 10 minutes, compared to the maybe 30s-3min normal battles consistently took me
This is your Yakuza protagonist in 2024
Good
This was honestly the least offensive thing about the endings.
>dunno what the frick you were thinking with that pipe bomb, but you were a good friend
Every single homosexual b***hing about this didn't play the other games. Kiryu forgave Mine for everything he did within five minutes of meeting him, and was going to put his ass on the line to help scumbag Hamazaki too.
Ichiban is so goddamn beautiful.
>Ei-chan is on the team in 9
I unironically want this. I want Chitose on the team too, and for them to have to face each other.
A lot of the emotional moments in this weren’t earned and fell flat for me, tbh.
At least him forgiving the Young Master made sense because he was his kyodai.
It actually made sense in Y7 as Masato was like a brother to him and Nanba saved his life.
Cheetos scenes were actually really good but Eiji's really fell flat for me.
>Ichiban and Kuwana wouldve been the bestest pals
This scene kinda made me look at yagami's MUH-SAWA SENSEI in a different light even if it was annoying
Atleast yagami was hounding kuwana for the murders till the bitter end instead of forgiving him like some luffy wannabe
See I was telling people that muh sawa sensei is actually solid even if he could've used other points better. now i am vindicated
It was annoying, but at the end of the day it is 100% in character for Yagami, and a valid argument.
They basically are. They're meant to be thrown away after a couple uses.
I wish I was even half as based as Ichiban is, hopefully the next game is solely focused on him
Same. I wish there was more people like Ichi in the world.
The few ones that exist are spending 18 years in prison just like him.
>subtle Palworld plug
>Eiji will be your main sujimon in 9 instead of Sodachi
Why didn’t Bryce get a chance to redeem himself? Pelecana did more good for the world then some fraud journalist.
Because throwing trash into a pit is the one line Ichiban won't let anyone cross.
100% in character for Ichiban to do this. The problem with the writing is 100% on Eiji's end.
If Eiji actually does return, hopefully backstory will be addressed in detail.
>initially just ichiban and the sujimon professor have the same delusions about sujimons.
fair enough, they're just crazy frickers.
>ichi goes to america (sujimon heartland), turns out sujimon are actually a real thing
what
>kiryu's cancer-driven delirium makes him see sujimon the same way ichi sees them
ok what the frick is this some kind of they live-esque nightmare
Essence of Remembrance is kino in the final fight
if you didnt end the fight in dragons resurgence you didnt beat the game
>yokohama underground's last boss is easy as frick
>hawaiian underground's last boss kicks my ass
what the frick
EYEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hearing that shit in Dragon's Resurgence made me pop so hard man
mechanics that override the normal battle music with another theme is always over with me brothers
Same. Or when battle themes change or add something more to the original when you change something. Like how in Ishin, the battle theme changes when you switch styles (Brawler is original, Sword has the shamisen playing, Gunner has a wild west esque sound to it, Wild Flower has a classical guitar and clackers)
dame da ne!
>seething about ecelebs
grow up
>Poised to have one of the best stories in the series
>One of the worst instead
They had all the pieces, I can't believe it
I feel like Ichiban has the same problem that Akiyama and Saejima had.
I'm just happy this wasn't our ichiban introduction game because holy frick imagine if we didn't have 7 before this one.
I get not liking it though, I think the ending was weak for a number of reasons, not really convinced there was last minute changes or anything though.
only based bisexual i've ever met
Original Nishitani was better.
Wonder if they'll retcon Nishitani II into any future Kiwami content.
Why are all the flamboyant characters in this series based?
You like Nick too?
i forgot about that fricker. he's alright. i much prefer the joongis, nishitani iii, soma
He raped Shishido
>it's another "Korean just blends in perfectly with Japanese people" episode
Anyone else feel like WAY too much of this games story was in the substory format instead of actual cinematic cutscenes. I know not everything needs to be prerendered but it seems like 85% of events in this bloatfest were just characters standing in a line or a circle and occasionally doing a canned animation. Previous Yakuza games were far more cinematic at least whenever you were involved in the main plot but here it felt like substories and the vast majority of the main plot were given the same budget.
They spread themselves very thin, yeah.
It's especially jarring after Gaiden, which was high quality all throughout.
This is the longest game since 5. I think they still had a pretty good spread of animated cutscenes.
Looking back on footage of 7, I completely forgot that the characters used to just be snapshots and not drawn pictures.
No way they modeled this ugly fricker's face off Yong Yea, right?
it's hiroki hasegawa, his face and jp voice are modeled after him
he was in shin godzilla as the main bureaucrat guy i think. he looks different here since he isn't clean shaven
>Grinding out Big Swell
>Get accessory that gives MP at start of every turn

You can get it at the fortune shop as well as the HP one and the "Perfect Guard evades attacks" one.

"Ichiban... how can you call me a friend when I was acting like an evil moron" - Nanba
"Ichiban... how can you call me a friend when I was acting like an evil moron" - Aoki
"Ichiban... how can you call me a friend when I was acting like an evil moron" - Tomizawa
"Ichiban... how can you call me a friend when I was acting like an evil moron" - Chitose
"Ichiban... how can you call me a friend when I was acting like an evil moron" - Eiji
"Ichiban... how can you call me a friend when I was acting like an evil moron" - Bryce in LaD9
I don't think Ichibum considers Bryce a friend
He'll be a party member in LaD9.
No he won't he's like 140 years old
didn't realize he's israeli
when they hire a local youtuber at least hire one that can actually voice act

Judgment 3 where Yagami must fight his evil half-brother
Judgment 3 where Kuwana is revealed to be Yagami's half-Korean half-Chinese brother.
>Sorry Eichan, but if you want me to forgive you, you're going to have to go to jail
>It's ok that you were complicit in the murder of two innocent men, Chitose, you're my friend either way!
Ichiban gives them the same amount of forgiveness. Eiji needs to go to jail for kidnapping and because the Yakuza will kill him if he remains out in the open.
they're gonna send some yakuza member to kill him in prison just the same as if he was out in the open, lol.
>Chitose got multiple people murdered
>Ruined hundreds of people's lives
>Sabotaged any attempt at rehabilitation of past criminals
>Gets rewarded by becoming the CEO of a megacorp
I was fine with her rejoining since I figured she'd be fricked and expelled from her family, getting rewarded after all of that shit just felt lame.
>Ey Ichiman, thanks for those key chains and smokes
>I'm gonna rape you now.
So Majima and the gang can finally restart their security company?
I want the next Gaiden game to be about them and Watase doing that
Also what happened to Watase in IW? I thought they were gonna be with Majima in the shed
Since the security company went under and the shady dealings were on the Tojo side (Daigo is the one who made them), Watase probably broke away from them to not draw too much attention to his guys and the 3 went to a remote location as not to be hounded.
Please god give Yagami a decent outfit for Judgment 3
What does it mean when the blue house icon for an item in Dondoko Island is greyed out?
I think it means that you can't place that item in Ichiban's house.
It means you can't put it inside the house and is an outdoor item only.
it's kinda annoying when the cast is sperging out over nuclear waste when IRL nuclear waste is relatively safer to deal with and less environmentally damaging compared to the amount of pollution other non-renewable energy sources cause
like the main difference is that you actually have to put the nuclear waste somewhere safe and sealed off which many countries do without an issue and can do so for an very long time
ESG gives you money if you get mad at nuclear energy. That's the sole reason it's the plot of the game.
>they never explain how the frick Bryce makes a gun malfunction or how he lived so long or how he has a giant fricking squid at his beck and call
what the frick
>they never explain how the frick Bryce makes a gun malfunction
Maybe that dude was one of the sleeper agents?
>Sleeper agent, you must go to this store and rough them, tell them they're going to be a boba tea store
>Then I'll come in and tell you to stop, at that point you will pull a gun on me and shoot
>But get this! It's a gun I sabotaged, it'll shoot you in the eye instead
>This way your gang that already works under me, will respect me more
Everything about Hawaii is so nonsensical.
Obviously it's the power of island living 🙂
Am I missing something with the start NG+ achievement? Got to gameplay on both normal and hard on NG+ and it didn't pop. Was last one I was aiming to get before I uninstall.
It pops the very first time you start in Hero class, so when Nanba and Adachi join you.
Oh, don't care then. Uninstall go brr.
uhhh
what happened to sasaki
did he get shipped off to the funny island
Either that or they offed him when he thought something was wrong with the Seiryu Clan.
i thought bryce was supposed to be a pedo cult leader
I wanna visit Dondoko Island
that was supposed to be the storyline but they pussied out because of the Epstein shit
the
and! it anything she where was given this. his he and
The overall plot and ending had issues but I did like the final confrontation Kiyru had with Ebina.
I think they did a great job giving Ebina's good motives, then completely pissed on it by having him start laughing like a Scooby Doo villain.
Hot and Sweaty Kiryu-Haruka Summer SEX!!!
so what are the most useless jobs in the game so far?
idol feels like it got outclassed in every way except for that one skill that heals all ailments which I found kinda useful
So how are they going to justify Yamai getting released from jail in the next game? He's obviously coming back, he really should be ichiban's majima
daidoji plot device as usual
speaking of daidoji plot devices where the frick are nishitani III and shishido? all this focus was put on them being taken to the daidoji rape caves but they are never mentioned again
IIRC Gaiden was made after the story was Y8 was finalized. Might explain why Hanawa's death didn't really upset Kiyru too much despite going to great lengths to save his ass in Gaiden.
Wasn't Saejima in jail for like 3 years for 18 attempted murders? They'll probably just say Yamai got released and leave it at that.
Saejima was in prison for 25 years and he was on death row. He escaped from prison before he could be executed. Then he went back to prison for reasons I can't recall.
>Then he went back to prison for reasons I can't recall.
Serve out the rest of his sentence.
Statute of Limitation for murder in Japan is 30 years yamai will not be going to jail
It would be funny if it was actually Yagami that got Sawashiro out of jail
I would actually like a tie in like this. a whole mystery surrounding who actually shot Seiryu's leader. All the pieces are there.
>hanawa given all this focus in gaiden, ending the game by revealing that he has a secret identity
>all this speculation on which presumed dead character will be revealed as hanewa's true identity in infinite wealth
>instead hanewa is completely irrelevant to the plot and is anticlimatically killed by a random goon, and is barely mentioned again
I'm still mad
hanawa will survive and become a bar tender
Their writing is real sloppy these days, quantity over quality.
The writing has been relatively sloppy since 3, but it got much much worse with 5.
> implying 2 and 1 were good
They were great.

Chapter 1 here
Why is Ichiban such a pathetic simp for that one mid chick in his circle of friends ?
she is so plain looking
I'm going to attempt to try and play Dead Souls. Hopefully things turn out well.
I believe I got the US versions and those DLCs, yeah.
I miss Baba-chan.
israeli game
I loved it but it isn't as good as 7 was, Bryce was built up way too much for the payoff we got. I was expecting a mystic lava pope with weird powers and all I got was an butthole that kills his own men for no reason, it was such a letdown and wasn't even done in a good way. The Ebina fight was great and Kiryu had a very ichi ending. Over all I give it a 9.3/10
