Yeah, this game is a masterpiece. The graphics are probably the best in the franchise. The atmospheric contrast between the old hyrule and great ocean is immense. Ganondorf is almost an empathetic character and not just in it for the lulz. It's fantastic that after the hiccup of Forsaken Fortress you are ushered through the first two dungeons back to back, they're good dungeons. Triforce shards are a filter, and exploring the open world is the best part of the game.
switch needs a port
last good zelda game
it's all downhill from there
>Ganondorf is almost an empathetic character and not just in it for the lulz
Unpopular opinion but I think they should have doubled down on the triforce shard part.
Make you have to collect like twice or thrice the amount. Make it into a real large scale treasure hunt with more small dungeons and npc intrigue like collecting the masks in MM.
They should have brought back the triforce hunt in totk.
oh frick yeah, I said that the other day. like the entire game should have been concerned with tracking down like 24 pieces of the triforce, and they should have been all over the game world. inside dungeons, grottos, in a trading sequence, in the auction house, big octos, ghost ship,
Only if you didn't have to search for the charts and give them to Tingle. Yes it would be a good idea to put the shards in the chests which would be on various islands, each island being a little puzzle or something like that. Akin to how you unlock some shrines in BotW and TotK
well maybe a couple of charts? I could see the auction house bidding off a chart for a triforce shard, and maybe inside chests in dungeons could be a chart too.
but out in the open world, they should all be shards 100%
Well just a couple in the dungeons would be fine
and absolutely, instead of shrines, an open world like BotW & TotK should have had environmental puzzles for their reward (a triforce shard?) without having to see a loading screen and go to separated shrines and exit with another loading time.
The game'd never have the space for that, memory-wise. It would effectively double, if not triple, the memory taken up on a game card.
Which in retrospect wasn't nearly as restrictive as it was feared to be since people kept on releasing larger and larger cards but the initial ones were only, what, 64 Mb?
Expressed stupidly, but you sort of have the right idea. What they should've done is make the Triforce quest the main part of the game without the rupee gating, thus basically turning the game into Zelda 1 on water. Just hand the player a sword, shield, sail and boat and tell 'em to get fricking lost.
Its interesting how this art suggested the world map was a globe.
It’s largely cut content and in so many parts of the game you are stuck in a scenario.
Good game though
>Yeah, this game is a masterpiece.
>1 webm cause the game never does this again except for an irrelevant room that opens a fast travel portal
That is the irrelevant fast travel portal room.
>game makes the fast travel spot as explicit as humanly possible so you know to save the game there for when you need it.
>Me, a moron, unlocks it and uses it like normal, but doesn't save at all, so when I beat the game, I lock myself out of finishing the gallery without going through the entirety of hyrule or starting up the new game+.
Ganondorf wasn't empathetic in the slightest but it was the coolest Ganondorf
>beats the shit out of kids multiple times
>kills and binds the souls of the Sword sages for centuries in torment
>let's his minions interest with his prisoners and delude one of them
First Zelda I ever played and even I can admit it sucks ass. Apart from PH and ST it has the worst dungeons of the series and the triforce hunt is bullshit. nu-Zelda obviously has no dungeons
Its not finished. We know that for a fact and the padding thanks to the triforce quest was on purpose to extend gameplay. I can’t in good faith praise a game for being half soulless brainless filler.
Cute game still my favorite art style and link has so charm
When I replay it I find it harder to finish each time which I don't have with other Zelda.
I do not like Forsaken Fortress or Tower of the Gods, but I do love the four other dungeons and the triforce shards quest.
I love the sound and look of Tower of the Gods but that statue moving parts are when I really want to pack it in
Tower of the Gods starts off with an interesting premise, a dungeon you do in your boat - and then it abandons it and becomes terrible.
True.
But the HD port was ruined by bloom, fake celshading, and casual streamlining.
it looks amazing on the Wii U, it's not the same as the original but it looks great in its own right.
Disagree. Only looks good when sailing.
it looks good when opening chests and inside all the dungeons. the most wow factor the original had was the boss of dragon roost, that one looks noticeably worse now.
>it looks good when it turns of the cel shading and reveals plastic bloomed out models
Frick off moron
Okay zoomer
>and casual streamlining
It looks worse but the streamlined sailing is good
every single zelda game after the gamecube era was shit
also ww has the perfect artstyle and music for what it is, at first it made me think they took a step back but afterwards it became addicting
it's unfortunate that zelda will never be good again
its babies first zelda which is the definition of pure garbage
This and TP announcement for the Switch today probably. Hopefully children who can't into emulation will get to experience these games too
But yeah, as I said. The gameplay is absolutely awful, but definitely a masterpiece for sure though.
Easiest game in the franchise.
Main quest is linear and you're barely required to explore.
Side content is almost nothing but copypasted filler so it's not fun to actually explore.
Rewards for exploration are unsatisfying/pointless.
Sea is boring.
No fishing or underwater swimming.
Almost all the dungeon items are recycled from previous games.
Blatantly unfinished, multiple dungeons cut.
Triforce hunt just shows how bad the exploration is.
QTE combat.
Inspired the cancer design in BotW/TotK (enemy weapons, quantity over quality).
Oh yeah and almost all the puzzles suck.
is the most egregious but there are other examples. Even the block pushing is braindead, there are groves on the ground that stop you from messing up so it's just busywork.
>no fishing or underwater swimming
Damn never really thought about this, they really dropped the fricking ball on that part
