In the "good" timeline we got an AVGN movie that was comfykino set in a small town and it's just a slice-of-life comedy of the Nerd's daily life co-starring Mike and Kyle with 4-5 game reviews mixed in. It's a cross between Napoleon Dynamite and Clerks.
IMO it wasn't, James seemed to be able to just riff off of games and emote better in older episodes. Not sure how he lost that ability, nowadays it definitely does feel forced.
