lmao what fricking game DOESN'T have performance issues? Even going back to the Golden Ear of 16 bit games, some of the greatest games of all time had slowdown and sprite flicker. I guess ALL games are shit.
>fps drops in botw >yikes
Seriously? Of all the possible shit you could bring up this is what you choose? I've probably put close to 300 hours into BotW and not once was I ever playing and thought, "yeah, this game kind of runs like shit".
>I've probably put close to 300 hours into BotW
i've only done one playthrough and got maybe 40 hours and finished 100+ shrines and have no desire to replay it nor would it feel like it has replay value, how could someone possibly get 300 hours out of it? am i doing something wrong?

I did about 160 hours on my initial playthrough, then another ~100 on master mode. I'll admit I put it down for about 4 years after that and thought I'd never have the desire to play it again, but I picked it up recently and already blew through over 40 hours (and only around 70 shrines). You're obviously fast traveling everywhere and using some kind of a guide for the shrines. Either that or you're just running past everything that isn't a shrine. I don't know. Obviously I could finish the game tonight if I wanted to, but I'm having a lot of fun with it again.

NTA, but after 50 hours I got burnt out on the game. Despised the stupid story, hated the sidequests, got bored of the shrines before I even completed a quarter of them. I don't know, it's just not fun. It's not challenging or intriguing. Definitely on the lower end of open world games.

>It's not challenging or intriguing
It's a Zelda game. It's about as deep as any other Zelda game, which have always been simple fun anyone can beat since the SNES era. I know that doesn't justify anything, but if you don't like Zelda games then of course you're not going to like it.

If BOTW has no replay value then no video game has replay value. It's one of the most open non-restrictive video games.
You know the thing the push your stick back to the neutral position? It's some kind of rubber band. All controllers with sticks use these. The Switch ones just so happen to either really shit, or very easy to dislodge from their normal position.
Its really not. The controllers in particular are hilariously fragile for the intended audience.
On my 2nd switch, 3rd set of joycons. First switch just fricking died. Real shame cause it was a paperclip friendly model. Cracked it open and replaced the battery but nada. Mainboard was fried.
>Its really not
You realise you're using controllers to argue the durability of a console right?
A console that can survive some pretty extreme conditions at that.
If you broke your switch then you must have a major tard rage.
>The controllers in particular are hilariously fragile for the intended audience.
I've managed to got through 4 PS4 controllers because of how fricked the drift is on them. At least with the Switch I can clean it and the drift goes away.
I guess this is the new cope line, basically just "it doesn't count" since the reality of the Switch outselling everything has become so overwhelming and undeniable that the only remaining recourse is to make excuses for why the numbers are so high.
I wouldn't call it a new cope as much as they're putting a new spin on an old one. I mean, people used to think it was a frail system because of those melt edits.
Then someone revealed it shuts off long before the melting point.
Then the drop and water cutter tests happened.
What's the battery life on the deck? Is it at least 6 hours?

lmao no, it's a 90 minute battery life. If you nerf the settings and cap the frame rate at 30 you can then get about 4 hours but at that point you're not even playing playing at a higher quality than the Switch.

The original Switch doesn't even come close to 4 hours, however, with games that demand a lot from the hardware. I've run out of battery in less than 2 hours playing sims which I assume uses the CPU to the max all the time.

The battery life on the original is 2.5 to 6.5 depending on the game.

Assuming that 2.5 hours is the minimum, it is still far from 4 hours that anon said in the other post. I have already finished with the battery of mine with less than 2.5 hours, however, even with the battery in very good condition. I'll do a test here by leaving a city management game with complex simulation running on fast foward for a while.

What's so hard to understand, underage fanboy?
The anon there meant that for Deck to reach 4 hours of battery life, you will need to reduce the graphics until they reach the equivalent of a Nintendo Switch. It turns out that a Nintendo Switch running something that demands the most of it won't get past 2.5 hours. Don't you see the problem in his post?

I see the problem, he's comparing a model that 90% of people don't have and isn't sold anymore. So both him and you are idiots.

You keep bringing up a model that isn't sold anymore and was stopped being made after 12 months, the majority of people don't have or will ever that that model so there's no point in trying to use that as a comparison for the Deck.

An OG Switch after 5 years will obviously have a pretty fricked up battery by that point, but the Deck is a 90 minute battery life fresh out of the box playing stuff at the settings people like to show off.

>Still won't sell out while PS5 is still out of stock everywhere, really makes you think who's rigging the game, huh?
The israelites made Sony create bad games on purpose for bringing much shame to the homeland of Nintendo.
Demand exceeding supply means lost potential sales. PS5’s stock issues aren’t doing it any favors. Even Microsoft has the stock issue (mostly) under control. How is having ample Switch supply a bad thing if it’s still outselling them both? PS5 stock issues will probably persist as we get closer to the holidays, but they are at least obtainable now if you want to look around IRL. Not as obtainable as they were in May, and their resale price has cropped back up to $700 after being nearly the same as retail (and below for used units).
It's just a really good console. The sales are also a lot more organic/word or mouth rather being based on advertising/hype/brand recognition. The reason the Switch just seems to keep going and going - despite most people agreeing that it's looking pretty underpowered these days - is that most people have a friend or a family member that has one, and when they try it out they realize it's actually really cool and for the price is something they definitely want in their life. Most people I know irl who have one don't even really care if a game is an exclusive or not; it just has such a great library there's shit for everyone and playing modern games on a comfy handheld just works.
>no sheets >didn't even bother taking the fricking plastic off of the bottom one >awful carpet that's coming off of the staples >picture shows 2 sqft. of floor and there's trash and dirt everywhere

Despite the disgusting movie games like Xenoblade and Fire Emblem, it still puts out actual video games like Metroid and Mario, and that's already 10 steps above what sony and Microsoft are trying to do. They've gone full gung ho into the pretentious movie loving scene. Just look at how much they jerk off over TLOU or Uncharted or Persona or Nier: Automata. They only care about their fancy graphics and voice acting and pretentious storytelling. Sony and MS don't care about good gameplay anymore, and it's so frustrating.
When they're eventually kicked out the industry, I can only hope their effect on Nintendo will leave as well. Then the JRPG genre can shrivel up and die, as well as the visual novel genre. Then, and only then, can the healing begin.
Then why are you whiteknighting them so hard? Does it really make you angry for me to say that Halo and Persona are terrible movie games, and they deserve to fail?
You don't add anything of worth to any conversation even if it's shitposting, frick off Doug.

>OP asks how the Switch is still selling >give a clear and concise answer, aka movie games are trash and don't sell consoles normally, especially low effort visual novels like TLOU
>moron took 12 years and an ungodly amount of b***h slapping to finally stop shitting on Metroid, including dread
It's a tiny improvement. Still, stop giving him attention. Black person now cries that animal crossing is a movie game.
Then why mention Sony and Microsoft's effect on Nintendo?
Even if Nintendo was the only console maker in business you'd still be seeing them, it's like trying to erase abstract art just because you don't like it.
i've noticed in the advertising for games like tlou that they absolutely avoid showing gameplay, only cinematics. It's like the developers think of themselves as movie makers rather than game makers. In contrast, even xenoblade advertisements feature obvious gameplay footage.
I hate the walking simulator and visual novel genres, and as it so happens, those aren't real games either. just saiyan, a bad game has a stink that you can't ignore.
Remember how the DS systems always sold well? It's because there is a massive audience of families and children, the majority of Nintendo owners always have been. Nintendo did the smart thing and combined their consoles and handhelds into one range and it's showing.
>Early adopters of the Nintendo Switch tended to be in the mid-20s to mid-30s, but as time has gone on the age range for the system's owners has become spread both older and younger. 31% of owners as of Q4 2018 were under 24, and 21% fell into the 35-44 range
weirdest thing is I can't buy original Nintendo joycons on Amazon, physical stores in my country went really out of their way and sealed exclusive contracts to sell joycons, but yeah they kept the "family and sports" games weapon for a time when sales would tank, as you can see it picked them up pretty well...the ads on television for those things are back in greater forces, so the Switch is breathing a new life
the most amazing part in all this is how Nintendo has been so dominant in Europe ever since the Wii released
historically Nintendo was only a niche console in Europe, with Sega dominating the SMS and Mega Drive gens, and then Sony obliterating everything with the PS1 and then PS2. The only thing that actually sold well in Europe for Nintendo up until that point had been the GB and GBA. Hell even the Dendy was more popular than the real NES console back then.
Then the PS3 fricked up so monumentally that Nintendo managed to get a foothold in Europe
Persona gains nothing from the Decks extra power and then the Deck experience gets dragged down by it's shitty screen, HUEG form factor, jet engine fans, 1.5 hour better life and buttons falling of the side of the unit. The Deck is a glorified Chink emulator.
>and then the Deck experience gets dragged down by it's shitty screen, HUEG form factor,
I don't see why this is such a taboo to talk about.
I mean, I've used one and even though I have massive fricking hands going from the dpad/face buttons to the stick of a pain.
>the Deck experience gets dragged down by it's shitty screen, HUEG form factor, jet engine fans, 1.5 hour better life
After actually using one, I can safely say it has none of these problems. Battery life averages 3-5.5 hours after taking basic power saving measures. You cannot hear the fans unless you start blasting the thing at 20W and it's not too big either (though I do have xbox huge hands).
Its actually going so well, Gaben is already talking about a Deck 2. Nobody who has a working brain expected Deck to directly compete with the big boys like Nintendo or Microsoft, but it has beaten the chink competition. It was made for people who like to fiddle with stuff and enjoy playing on their beds. Normies cannot handle so many settings and customization.
>specs of a shitty 2014 android tablet >price hasn't dropped a single cent even half a decade after release >still gets new games, from indies to AAA >still the best selling console in many regions
Why is it so good?
>specs of a shitty 2014 android tablet
Nvidia Shield was the most powerful tablet at the time, tho. And still in the top 20ish that still is in the triple digit price range.
The saddest thing is that this lets Nintendo do fricking nothing and not even bother making games. Like, okay, I have a Switch and it's an okay console, but what do I play on it? I've already played all the games that are getting ported years ago, and Nintendo releases one game a year.
Not exactly, tendies consume everything Nintendo puts out, while cubies are obssessed with specific games they're nostalgic for and hate every release outside of that parameter.
>tendies consume everything Nintendo puts out, while cubies are obssessed with specific games
Nintendo's sales numbers have way too much variation for that kind of tendie to exist. Cubies on the other hand are tendies to a t. In that they idolise the Nintendo staples like Mario and Zelda but absolutely nothing else which is why n they're dissatisfied with systems that don't have them in droves.

>You shit on sony for having no exclusives when a lot of yours are not in fact exclusive
The majority of switch games people talk about are full exclusives anon.
Bro why did you use white that shit is unreadable. Also if you take "Wii U" ones as it's irrelevant (to hell buying used hardware) and the good exclusives you have a fair handful of games worth it. Switch has appeal.
I always find it hilarious when people call BotW a "port", as though everyone already played it and then they made a slightly upgraded version for the Switch. After Mario, Mario, Mario, and Halo, BotW was probably the biggest launch title of all time.
???
You're gonna have a hard time in 3 weeks when this board gets the game.
At least correct that if you want to troll. And Bravely Deafult II is on PC as well, so change that to >play on Deck instead
You shit on sony for having no exclusives when a lot of yours are not in fact exclusive and/or run worse than other platforms
These dumb motherfrickers in the thread saying "better performance on X" or "port, also on Y" completely missing the point that the key feature of the Switch is portability. Guess I expected too much from people who never leave their PCs.
No no no, you do not get it: >Xbox >A game gains nothing but graphics from being ported here >Playstation >A game gains nothing but graphics from being ported here >Switch >A game gains portability when ported here
Portability >>>>> graphics. Its an actual extra function that works. No it does not matter that you don't like it, or think its dumb, or think its not a function, its a literal new function gained period.
>its more expensive by a wide margin
All it takes is for you to buy 3 overpriced 7 year old ports and suddenly your Switch is the most expensive console
I don’t get why using the “It’s also on Wii U” is an argument when no one fricking bought the Wii U, it was the biggest flop of Nintendo history, unless you count Virtual Boy,
I honestly don't get why people only focus on exclusives in the first place. I don't care that shit like Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, and a shit ton of JRPGs are on multiple platforms when they're far more enjoyable to play on Switch; it's just a better platform for a lot of genres that I like, and I think that's why most people like the Switch.
>I honestly don't get why people only focus on exclusives in the first place
Because exclusives are the only selling point for a console. If a game exists somewhere else then it's tertiary and shouldn't be used as a reason for any one system.
Or at least that's how it used to be until Sony and Microsoft went pseudo third party.
Wii U ports are a special case though unlike say Demon's Souls on ps5 or GTAV they tend to have content exclusive to the switch version.
>exclusives are the only selling point for a console
Maybe if you're looking at Playstation vs Xbox, but I think the Switch has a unique enough formfactor that that itself is a selling point. I specifically brought up Stardew because I know more than one person irl who bought a Switch after seeing a family member playing it in handheld and deciding on the spot that they wanted one. I know that's just my own small anecdotal thing, and I honestly don't even know that many people who have a Switch, but I really believe that the size combined with all the modern games you can play at the touch of a button on the couch or wherever is a huge selling point. I mean, we know that the biggest userbase is people in their late 20's and 30's, and I really believe that's because those people just don't have the time to sit down for hours in front of a TV or computer anymore (or have families and just can't). A lot of them probably haven't owned a console in a couple generations and the Switch is a great way to play older games they missed (especially WiiU, which nobody owned).
I'm talking specifically about the current generation. Nintendo combining home console with handheld is new, and they also have more 3rd party games available than ever before (that might not be true; I haven't owned a Nintendo console since N64).
Nintendo may be a shit company in a lot of ways but I cannot not respect how in a time when Activision cancels THPS remakes because it didn't make ALL the money, Nintendo still regularly puts out weird/niche stuff like 2D Metroid, Luigi's Mansion etc.
>give small budget to a niche game >make some money >employees get more experienced >more games means more chances to get lucky and releasing a game that exceed expectations like animal crossing or three houses >they are all exclusives so they can potentially convince some people to buy your console >it also makes your console more attractive because there is larger selection of games
I am surprised that their competitors don't do that.
Maybe too much administrative overhead per-project (accounting, advertising, leadership)
I can't imagine another reason to just outright reduce the number of projects you have by deleting all smaller ones and only keeping the megaproductions
>weird/niche stuff like 2D Metroid, Luigi's Mansion etc.
Luigi sold 11m which is more than TLOU2 or Ghost of Tsushima. Metroid sold "only" 3m which is still more than any game for ps5.
Trying to compare Sony sales to Nintendo sales is just nonsensical as they're not 1 to 1. A Sony game selling 10 million isn't the same as a Nintendo game selling 10 million, 80-90% of Sony sales are done after they cut the price to $10-$20 2 months in while 90% Nintendo games are bought at a full $60 price.
i been thinking about buying one, is there a new one coming out anytime soon?
Just the special Splatoon 3 version coming in August that looks really nice, there lwon't be another model until at earliest late 2023 and it may not even be a "Pro" version but something like a Switch Lite OLED version.
Why does gow matter?
Nintendo constantly just announces a game close to release or does a huge update trailer. >Astral Chain >metroid dread >PM TOK >xenoblade3 >etc.
>can't even run Vectrex games
Literally the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on that $50 expansion pack. I can't complain though, as it still has the best version of Tetris
>one of the best se supported systems, and by far the best nintendo jrpg machine since snes >b-but they didn't even bother to do a proper port of the disney game!
Maybe SE realizes that the Switch user base is a little older than that? I mean, whatever the reason they did a lazy cloud version it obviously wasn't because the Switch can't handle those games. They obviously made a conscious decision not to spend the time and effort on games they didn't think fit the target audience.
>never played a 3D mario game before >buy Mario 3D all-stars >3 games for the price of one >2 of them 10/10, 1 of them 6/10
worth it, SM64 is easily one of the best games i have ever played and i only played it for the first time a couple months ago
Sunshine was the 6/10, it just felt rushed and should have had more development time. It still introduced a lot of great concepts that were used by the Mario games that came later. Keep in mind that for me, a 6/10 is a game that I would complete once but never have any desire to play again.
>never played a 3D mario game before >buy Mario 3D all-stars >3 games for the price of one >2 of them 10/10, 1 of them 6/10

Most interesting post in the thread.
I wonder what is it like to find and enjoy m64 for the first time in 2022. I love the game, and i dont think it has aged a bit.
You can play on a Switch sitting next to your wife watching some stupid romcoms in the living room
You can play on a Switch with your kids / your kids can play on the Switch
A Switch is cheaper than any other current-gen option
Nintendo has reliable high-quality, family-friendly content for casuals without any news of gambling for kids and other shit
People just want a break from the hardships of life. Most people have lives and real problems, so they don't seek validation from super hard video games to feel better about themselves. They just want to bing bing wahoo for an hour before bed.
>Relatively inexpensive >Lightweight and portable, with small cartridges >Not top of the line power but still decent performance for anyone who's not obsessed with photorealism. >Easy multiplayer setup for parties. >Child-friendly software for moms and grandmas to buy. >Effective brand
>Not top of the line power but still decent performance for anyone who's not obsessed with photorealism.
fortunately for Nintendo, their games would be worse with photorealistic graphics because the art style simply doesn't allow it. Mario would look stupid if he real, especially with his nose and other weird proportions.
Kek this. Having realistic graphics in your game is against the trends. It makes sense. Zoomers never witnessed technical limitations so realistic graphics do not impress them. My nephew was shocked when I told him that chrono trigger on his phone is from 30 years ago. He thought he is playing modern indie.
Funny. It's kind of how realistic art went out of fashion after invention of photography.
He probably got erectile dysfunction a year later. Call me a moron on any of this, I know it's easier to talk back after all this but: >battery life issue

Its a handheld, we knew about docked mode where some games can get better performance on it. >shitty tenga processor issue
Dont know enough to comment on that >usual nintendo controller-design autism issue again
The joycon gimmick didn't get in the way of gameplay unlike the Wii U where it's sometimes required or need to buy a separate accessory to play it traditionally. I hate the joycons personally but it helps compliments the hybrid aspect of the console as you don't need to buy a controller to play docked. >no 3rd party issue
wait till he sees the first year of every gaming device. >overpriced issue
same price of a PS4(?) and Xbox One S(?), consumers knew that the switch could fill the role of both a home console and handheld.
The newest hardware with the prettiest graphics has been diminishing returns for 3 generations at this point and most people just care more about playing fun games. I'm not saying those are the same people buying CRTs and Switches.
I'm surprised how enjoyable the docking and handheld 'forms' of the console are.
The only problem is some game UI isn't meant for handheld or TV. You can see Metroid Dread's UI is for handheld in a general sense whereas with Fire Emblem, nothing scales down properly to the handheld mode.
>I'd maybe get a Deck if it could be docked like a Switch.
Pretty sure you can get an USB-C to HDMI dock converter to plug your Deck on the TV. Valve just hasn't made one themselves. Got to agree they should have thought of it but maybe they could have run into legal trouble? They should have given it a HDMI port however.
>We may see a price drop near the end of the year, which will boost sales.
For the past 3 shareholder meetings Furukawa was saying that because of shortages they can't make enough Switches to meet the demand.
What would a price drop achieve?
Remember how snoys were desperate enough to claim that the Switch is 8th gen to save face when it comes to 9th gen sales. I wonder how they will cope when that claim means that they either admit that the PS4 lost 8th gen or that the PS5 is 90 million sales behind 1st place.
Not that anon, and I really don't care about console war shit, but do come into these threads occasionally to see all the moronic shit people say about the Switch (it has issues, but the people shitting on it never know what they actually are, or even why people like it). But yeah, anyone trying to compare PS5 to anything at this point just seems moronic to me. PS is the only console that's been relying on exclusives for like 3 generations now, but it has no exclusives. Xbox was always the more powerful system, and they have gamepass so it seems like a no-brainer if you want a console other than Switch. I seriously don't get it (and I say that as someone who bought a PS4 to play FFVIIR).
I mostly just come here because I enjoy to see them seethe after spending a decade telling themselves that Sony was untouchable. Them getting mad over the Switch, a system that was said to be dead on arrival by a lot of werstern journos and communities, makes it even better.
It's fun watching the snoys hype up some moronic nonsense then claim a Switch title is going to bomb and watching them seethe in one week over it not coming true. They have also stopped counting exclusives and sales then just write off all Switch games as shit to combat the fact that Sony is fricking them over by porting everything to PC.
Actually, they have.
PS4 and PS4 Pro are the exact same console. Switch is hybrid, aka both home console and a handheld. It's 2 consoles in 1, so those 108 mil sold units basically means that Nintendo sold 54 mil home consoles and 54 mil handhelds.
>AYYYY AHAHAHA OHNONONONO only 54 mil! Nintendo is doomed!
close, but not quite.
The cope is that the switch is home console + handheld. only selling 107mil.
Which is a flop to the 255mil wii+ds did.
That's the actual cope.
Considering Switch is mostly has phone and mobile games on it, it should be compared to phones. And considering there are literally over 1 billion of just Android phones sold every year, Switch is irrelevant.
I always find it hilarious when people don't know how to capitalize a sentence or use a fricking period and then call other anons children. Zoomers are fricking moronic.
In part because they were stupid enough to try and push those to adults more likely to use their phones to play something disposable at lunchtime. Sony stopped promoting Vita after ONE year just because portable Call of Duty flopped.

It's Nintendo. They can make video games for people ages 3 years old to 75 years old, maybe even older than that. That is something that Sony and Microsoft are still not able to do, despite their efforts.
>The subtle downwards curve for early teens >That fricking absurd spike at 18
What this graph shows is that kids up to about 10 or or set their real age (Or their parents do), whereas kids ~13 to 17 lie and say they are 18 in order to not get the mature content blocked.
If you account for that, the curve from 5 to 20 would look natural and the exact inverse of the one from 20 to 35.
Lol, modern kids don't give a shit about nintendo, it's old news. They want fortnite and spiderman, which are either exclusive to playstation or play best on playstation.
Even Xbox Series has been outselling PS5 since the end of last year, even in fricking Japan of all places Xbox sales are starting to get close to match those of the PS5, the current state of PlayStation is at an all time low snoyboi.
Everything has shortages you coping imbecile, it's not conveniently exclusive to playstation.
And even then people aren't going after PS5s as aggressively as they were before, you can even just find one or two sitting in stores occasionally.

>Today I will remind you that nintendo counts replacing drifted joycons as a brand new switch console sale,
Wouldn't the Switch have a low attach rate if this were true?
Metroid dread in the water sold less than 3 million despite nintendo's claims of a supposed 107 million switches sold. Demon's souls sold 2 million back when the ps5 was at only 10 million.
Less than 3% attach rate vs 20% attach rate.
Meanwhile you have others like mario kart, animal crossing and smash that have upwards of a 30% attach rate on 100+ million consoles sold, something no Sony exclusive on PS4 managed.
When you add PS5 version sales and Miles Morales to the number

nope, that guy was talking about the PS4 version which sold 20M+ which is more like a 20% attach rate which is still good

1. It has games people want to play, and it's popularity ensures it will keep getting games as well.
2. It has an actually useful gimmick this time around
3. It's relatively inexpensive compared to the other consoles of this generation
That's all it really takes to have a winning console on your hands.
I saw it all the time with the nerd circle of high school back then, you should be comparing the people who use them to people who had a DS / 3Ds back then. Obviously a adult isn't going to be playing with one outside unless they're on some vacation.
It's already out for a year. It's called OLED version. Nothing else was ever announced. Just buy it. You can buy cheaper old version if you only plan to play docked. (new version only improves battery life and screen quality)
A Chinese guy claimed that there is a model that will perform better than the original Switch and will be announced this year. This is the same guy who talked about the Splatoon version before it went public.
No one knows if it's true, though. I recommend you wait because the current Switch is extremely bad if you have any standard and you will not lose much by not buying it, unless you really want to play some Nintendo game.
No one has a dev kit for some high performance for some shit that's "hinted to be coming in a couple months.
There is no pro model coming in less than a year from their previous new model's release.
>This is the same guy who talked about the Splatoon version before it went public.
Isn't it obvious when they release special edition console for their every big game?
Yeah, but this is the first time they've done it with the OLED. Keep in mind that Metroid Dread and Pokemon Legends Arceus launched at or after the OLED's launch.
Nothing is announced. And even if they will release something in a year, it's Nintendo. It won't be switch pro. It will be Switch Smaller Dock or Switch with Slightly Bigger Screen or Switch Camera.
Mario Party Superstars is not a remake, remaster or rerelease, it's a sequel that compiles older minigame and boards into one game.
It's also technically not a compilation, as it's a weird sequel with its own identity and board mechanics.
How is Golf Story still exclusive to Switch? I know Sports Story is locked in development hell so they don't have the chance to port it themselves, but I'd think they'd have someone else do it or something. At least for PC, if nothing else.
Nintendo is slacking when they don’t have competition, and it may be a while before they actually need to hustle again since it’s biggest competitors are no longer its competitors and Nintendo is firmly #1 in a massive yet niche market that no one else can do well in
You know, this argument still has no ground and an oxymoron. If its has no games then why is people trying to emulated it ? What game are they even going to play with that emulator then?
Because why the frick wouldn't it?
It's far cheaper than any of the other current gen consoles, and gayman PCs, you can use it to play games on your Television, and also as a handheld.
It also has exclusives unlike anything else these days, and a lot of those are family-friendly.
If I had kids, I'd buy them a Switch sooner than any of the other available options, simply because it makes the most sense by far.
Now that you mention it, it makes a lot more sense why its selling so well. The PS4 slim and Xbox One S/X are discontinued while only offering, the expensive and less available, Series X and PS5. >what about the series s
It's performing well but isn't seeing the same strength as it doesn't have the same first party and exclusive appeal. Microsoft's only first party title anyone gave a shit about literally committed brand suicide with a bad show and lackluster game. Slime Rancher 2 is not enough of a console seller.
>It's performing well but isn't seeing the same strength
You serious? It is nearly 1:1 with the Series X in sales worldwide. Microsoft projected correctly that they could cost reduce a next generation console which would be cheap and digital only to kill two birds with one stone for accessibility of Gamepass on a dedicated box from Microsoft and pushing more things to be online only and cutting out middleman costs. Their only real issue is first party content and in the future, keeping the Series S relevant without having things degrade back a generation to get ports on the system because of said cost-cutting.
I mean, I don't disagree with your primary premise but there are factors like how the Switch is unlikely to be a primary console and is more or less a companion one for a good chunk of video game console owners which also play into how much it sold up to this point despite normal people being the majority of buyers now. But given a choice where little Timmy wants a new video game console and doesn't have a strong preference for bing bing wahoo type games, the Series S is going to be a much easier sell to a Mom than a Switch given what you can play especially going into the future. In some ways, it's also a saving grace for Nintendo. They would've have to up their spending a ton for R&D and console production if they had to get hardware out that even remotely half as powerful as the PS5 and Xbox Series X if they were the only machines out for a successor Switch to get good third party ports of games.
>is affordable >has exclusives >has wide mass appeal due to large variety of available games and the option to use it as a handheld/docked console
why wouldnt it sell? either you buy a gaming PC, or you buy this, everything else just doesn't make sense.
The average normie propably doesn't even know what exactly a Wii U is, and they won't care.
A majority of people who own a Switch aren't excatly enthusiastic about the hobby, they just want to play some games, or get their kids something to play games on, and the Switch is perfect for that due to its low price and its flexibility, simple as.
>brings back the fun of playing PSP WLAN with your buddies >but you can also play it on your TV >switching between the TV and portable takes literally no time >comes with 2 controllers out of the box, so if two friends take their switches with them you can play 4 player co-op on the TV >pairing controllers between consoles is easy as frick
The only real downside of the system is the fact that it's underpowered, but 90% of people don't give a shit about the power of a system, as long as they can play fun games. Let's face it, the concept of a hybrid console with an easy dock and detachable controllers is absolutely perfect for most users and it's also perfect for convincing other people to get one themselves.
>The only real downside of the system is the fact that it's underpowered
Even then, the disparities between the current home consoles and the Switch are pretty low compared to how portable consoles vs home consoles used to be 10 years ago and more. Something about diminishing returns etc
>Let's face it, the concept of a hybrid console with an easy dock is absolutely perfect.
Which is why we should be giving credit to Sony for inventing the concept back in the PSP days. Just another example of Nintendo being 10 steps behind of the superior game company.
SEGA Nomad, this gimmick was a thing for awhile. Even has a spare controller port so you can still play with a friend
Again, Switch uses an opposite concept.
It's a home console you can use portably, not a handheld with a tv out.
For PSP Go and Nomad, theres no difference when plugging it into the tv other than using the tv as the display.
When Switch is plugged into the TV it runs at default clocks, otherwise it's underclocked in handheld mode.
The difference is that the PSP never committed to that idea. It was nothing more than an Idea that never got off the ground because there was no practical reason for having it.
The Switch committed 100% of the way, which is why it's way more successful in that manner.
Maybe if Sony wasn't a homosexual and didn't kill off their mobile section, it would had competition. But hey check out these back sensors and camera lens to play video games with
It's selling because both Xbox and Playstation killed themselves. Currently Switch is the only console OR handheld that exists. It's not that great, but if you want a console or a handheld it's your only option.
Sony is a complete pile of woke garbage. I would install o fricking PS5 if I got it for free.
MS is also full of woke garbage, but even if it wasnt, you cant play their games on PC.
All that is left is the Nintendo switch, which hilariously is, so far, the one company with games still worth playing on a console.
There is nothing to be surprised about.
>literally who >literally who >literally who >literally who >literally who >noonecaresaboutthatweebshit.jpg >better on PC >toddlershit >dogshit tech demo >tranime movieshit >sports shovelware >sport shovelware >old ass games that are better on PC or XboX >literally who >old ass game better on PC or Xbox
damn nintroonys are delusional lmaooo
For whatever reason I find Switch owners are more likely to purchase another one. Like I have gone through 3 of them in my lifetime so far:
>Animal Crossing Edition >Lite I bought for my brother's birthday >OLED edition >and then Inevitable Switch Pro though Deck might fill that when it ships for me
While I think most people would just purchase a single box from Sony or Xbox at most for their lifetime. However, I wonder what the sales numbers are for people who went from a base PS4/One to a Pro/One X for example.
It's honestly crazy how well it's still selling. Another year on the market and a price cut and it probably will beat the PS2, and in almost half the time the PS2 took to do it.
deckgays are always funny to me, if the switch is such an abomination why would you want to play its games in the first place? massive cope from wannabe pcgays
People keep breaking thier systems
Plastic kids' toy. It keeps breaking like said.
I see the snoys have come out to seethe
Not really. Both our consoles and dicks are rock solid. Nintendo always has performance issues.
>fps drops in botw
Yikes.
>fps drops in botw
lmao what fricking game DOESN'T have performance issues? Even going back to the Golden Ear of 16 bit games, some of the greatest games of all time had slowdown and sprite flicker. I guess ALL games are shit.
What a sad pathetic cope argument.
>what fricking game DOESN'T have performance issues?
clearly you don't own a PS5
>PS5 doesn't have frame rate issues
>every game comes with a 30fps option
can't have issues if you don't have games
movies don't have performance issues
You'd be surprised. Have you forgotten "20 FPS is better because it's more cinematic"?
You can't have performance issues when you have NO games.
>fps drops in botw
>yikes
You consoom your games instead of playing them
If BOTW has no replay value then no video game has replay value. It's one of the most open non-restrictive video games.
It can chug a bit during large explosions
Moot point anyway though since it's a shit game
Not silky smooth like a Bloodborne, right?
Bloodborne runs like shit even on a PS5 and it's literally the only game you have.
>Yikes
Zoinks!
Can PS5 really be called rock solid after they took out half the heatsink lmao
Where is that one snoy that kept claiming that sales plateaued and were going to starting falling to nothing around this time?
They did plateu though, they're down massively in literally every other country
Source?
Famitsu
NPD
etc
>they're down massively
>NPD
>Famitsu
?
>Void Terrarium 2
Wait, what?? I fricking love VT, I had no idea there's VT2
Here's a switch being dropped from an airplane and still working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8QCFNAgPDo
keep seething and coping lmao
BAHAHAHA even with all the dumb shit they occasionally do, Nintendo still puts out top quality.
And yet another reason I'll always own at least 1 Nintendo console every gen
Now if only Nintendo could solve the drifting question. What even causes drifting in the first place?
You know the thing the push your stick back to the neutral position? It's some kind of rubber band. All controllers with sticks use these. The Switch ones just so happen to either really shit, or very easy to dislodge from their normal position.
>It keeps breaking
It's the most durable console on the market.
My bet is that he forgot to charge it or used a nyko dock.
I've never heard of a switch or any system just kill itself for no reason.
I still have my launch console. Though I will say the controllers are trash.
As opposed to the other consoles that break themselves.
Still won't sell out while PS5 is still out of stock everywhere, really makes you think who's rigging the game, huh?
Brand new super console gets curbstomped every month since release.
Fricking hysterical. How did sony frick up so bad.
>j-j-just you wait Tendie! The Steam Deck will kill the Switch!!!
Switch outsellls Steam Deck by 1000:1 every month
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
My sides XDD
>Switch outsellls Steam Deck by 1000:1 every month
McDonalds also outsells real food, doesn't make it not shit
More people buy real food to cook their own food than mcdonalds you moronic gay
The cope tho
FOOD ANALOGY
>SALES OF THE DECK ARE GOING TO BURY SWITCH!
>Y-Y-YEAH SALES DON'T MATTER ANYWAY!
>food analogy
kek
I mean, if someone thought Deck was going to kill pokémon it's fricking moronic.
Steam Deck is better, of course, but you can't buy it normally.
No one thought the Deck would ever be anything more than a novelty that is soon forgotten.
Valve will sell it for two years then move on.
>The original Switch
Works on my machine
>The original Switch doesn't even come close to 4 hours,
The battery life on the original is 2.5 to 6.5 depending on the game.
>Assuming that 2.5 hours is the minimum
Are you an idiot?
>An OG Switch after 5 years will obviously have a pretty fricked up battery by that point
Well no, I took care of mine pretty well and I still get the usual times.
Maybe they'd get more enjoyment if they disabled the gay ass settings shit in Deck videos. Play like a normal person, frick
lol why do Steam Deck Black folk keep using this same pathetic food analogy?
Define real food, if you mean not fast food lmao no, McDonalds makes a lot of money compared to other food companies because they have near monopoly on fast food in a lot of places compared to all the billions being spread around other companies more for other food.
not a real console
Steam deck has no games!
>literally can't fulfill the orders from customers before the next VR revolution or flop
Don't care though, I was playing Strikers a few minutes ago on Yuzu, works like a charm at 4K on my RTX 3070. Stop being poor and stop fighting for a company that'd throw you under the bus if they had to lol
>Strikers
>an entirely online focused game
>emulator
Actual moron.
Imagine wanting to play a bing bing wahoo soccer game online how pathetic my god
moron seething for exposing himself, likely doesn't even have a 3070 or a Deck.
>Stop being poor
>has to steal his vidya and tries to justify it with valve cheerleading
>Still won't sell out while PS5 is still out of stock everywhere, really makes you think who's rigging the game, huh?
The israelites made Sony create bad games on purpose for bringing much shame to the homeland of Nintendo.
It's been half a decade, dude. Do you honestly still find it amusing to post this kind of shit?
I've been making fun of Sony for over 2 decades, and I'll never stop.
Not as obtainable as they were in May, and their resale price has cropped back up to $700 after being nearly the same as retail (and below for used units).
it seems you are doing everything except thinking
Say with me now, anon
>It's "artificial scarcity" only when Sony's competitors do it!
There is still chip shortage.
Most people I know irl who have one don't even really care if a game is an exclusive or not; it just has such a great library there's shit for everyone and playing modern games on a comfy handheld just works.
>really good console
Absolutely not. It's the games that make the cash.
>How the frick is this thing still selling?!
Its the best console on the market. Has been for years.
>No sheet
Fricking disgusting
>Snoys live in the poor house
No surprise there.
>no sheets
>didn't even bother taking the fricking plastic off of the bottom one
>awful carpet that's coming off of the staples
>picture shows 2 sqft. of floor and there's trash and dirt everywhere
someone just lazily painted over the floor trim with like indoor outdoor paint
OHNONONONONONO JESUS CHRIST DECK BROS HOW IS THIS HAPPENING TO US?
It has a bigger screen than the DS and doesn't run down your phone battery.
its fun
Frick off Doug.
>being THIS angry that the ps5 and xbox are losing relevance
Don't take your anger out on me.
Don't even have either, I'm strictly pc.
Frick off.
Then why are you whiteknighting them so hard? Does it really make you angry for me to say that Halo and Persona are terrible movie games, and they deserve to fail?
You don't add anything of worth to any conversation even if it's shitposting, frick off Doug.
>OP asks how the Switch is still selling
>give a clear and concise answer, aka movie games are trash and don't sell consoles normally, especially low effort visual novels like TLOU
Try to keep up next time.
Again, you add nothing. Frick off.
Literally answered the OP. Try again.
>moron took 12 years and an ungodly amount of b***h slapping to finally stop shitting on Metroid, including dread
It's a tiny improvement. Still, stop giving him attention. Black person now cries that animal crossing is a movie game.
You do know the first visual novels and JRPGs were on the famicom?
And the sooner they die, the better. Just like Metal Gear, which started on the NES but has been a disgusting blight on the industry ever since.
>something bad has existed for a long time
>let's NOT fix it, because that's how learning from our mistakes is supposed to work, right?
Then why mention Sony and Microsoft's effect on Nintendo?
Even if Nintendo was the only console maker in business you'd still be seeing them, it's like trying to erase abstract art just because you don't like it.
Just ignore ACgay.
i've noticed in the advertising for games like tlou that they absolutely avoid showing gameplay, only cinematics. It's like the developers think of themselves as movie makers rather than game makers. In contrast, even xenoblade advertisements feature obvious gameplay footage.
>I hate these genres, so they are not real games
Based moron
I hate the walking simulator and visual novel genres, and as it so happens, those aren't real games either. just saiyan, a bad game has a stink that you can't ignore.
True. Nintendo is the only big developer still making games.
Lol, nintendo makes rehashes and shovelware, not games
And PlayStation doesn’t?
You're thinking of Fromsoftware
Remember how the DS systems always sold well? It's because there is a massive audience of families and children, the majority of Nintendo owners always have been. Nintendo did the smart thing and combined their consoles and handhelds into one range and it's showing.
The average Nintendo Switch owner is over twenty.
>Early adopters of the Nintendo Switch tended to be in the mid-20s to mid-30s, but as time has gone on the age range for the system's owners has become spread both older and younger. 31% of owners as of Q4 2018 were under 24, and 21% fell into the 35-44 range
>sales
>UK
come back when a nation bigger than my dick posts sales
weirdest thing is I can't buy original Nintendo joycons on Amazon, physical stores in my country went really out of their way and sealed exclusive contracts to sell joycons, but yeah they kept the "family and sports" games weapon for a time when sales would tank, as you can see it picked them up pretty well...the ads on television for those things are back in greater forces, so the Switch is breathing a new life
HOLY SHIT SO MUCH THIS
I noticed too, it's the damn wii nostalgia for wii sports and motion control shit and family stuff that's fricking insane
I work at gamestop and Switch Sports is unironically selling like hotcakes
Have they added golf yet? It seems so barebones compared to the original games.
Is this deja vu?
I swear this thread happened before.
Because Nintendo is a cult.
so why didn't the Wii-U sell
Answer him homosexual.
the most amazing part in all this is how Nintendo has been so dominant in Europe ever since the Wii released
historically Nintendo was only a niche console in Europe, with Sega dominating the SMS and Mega Drive gens, and then Sony obliterating everything with the PS1 and then PS2. The only thing that actually sold well in Europe for Nintendo up until that point had been the GB and GBA. Hell even the Dendy was more popular than the real NES console back then.
Then the PS3 fricked up so monumentally that Nintendo managed to get a foothold in Europe
B-but the Deck... Ganker said Valve was winning...
The deck is winning in the hearts of gamers. They know it is the better way to play Persona 5 portably
Persona gains nothing from the Decks extra power and then the Deck experience gets dragged down by it's shitty screen, HUEG form factor, jet engine fans, 1.5 hour better life and buttons falling of the side of the unit. The Deck is a glorified Chink emulator.
I have a deck and I disagree it looks better and feels better to play than my switch
I have a deck and I agree it looks worse and feels worse to play than my switch
>and then the Deck experience gets dragged down by it's shitty screen, HUEG form factor,
I don't see why this is such a taboo to talk about.
>Persona gains nothing from the Decks extra power
P5R is gonna run at 60fps on the deck
Its actually going so well, Gaben is already talking about a Deck 2. Nobody who has a working brain expected Deck to directly compete with the big boys like Nintendo or Microsoft, but it has beaten the chink competition. It was made for people who like to fiddle with stuff and enjoy playing on their beds. Normies cannot handle so many settings and customization.
The deck should have come with detachable controllers, first thing that's going to break
>specs of a shitty 2014 android tablet
>price hasn't dropped a single cent even half a decade after release
>still gets new games, from indies to AAA
>still the best selling console in many regions
Why is it so good?
Nintendo cracked the code, they make games for it instead of movies
>specs of a shitty 2014 android tablet
Nvidia Shield was the most powerful tablet at the time, tho. And still in the top 20ish that still is in the triple digit price range.
>price hasn't dropped a single cent even half a decade after release
>still gets new games, from indies to AAA
You mistook the cause and the effect.
OG switch can be found for about 10-15% cheaper than what it originally cost.
It's the magic anon, simple as
whomst the lass beside Molyneux
>lass
(laughs)
(raughs)
Who is this James Hetfield look-alike?
That 5th Japanese quote is very anti western.
as a westerner myself im not even sure wtf is wrong with a lot of us
now include yuji naka on the japanese side
The saddest thing is that this lets Nintendo do fricking nothing and not even bother making games. Like, okay, I have a Switch and it's an okay console, but what do I play on it? I've already played all the games that are getting ported years ago, and Nintendo releases one game a year.
>but what do I play on it?
The games that are coming out at a consistent rate. The only way you could be dissatisfied is if you're a tendie.
>The only way you could be dissatisfied is if you're a cubie
I mean they're the same thing.
In that they idolise the Nintendo staples like Mario and Zelda but absolutely nothing else which is why n they're dissatisfied with systems that don't have them in droves.
>consistent rate
>Triangle Strategy and Kirby in March
>Three Houses Musou and Xenoblade in July
>Harvestella in November
>that's it
I mean, that's consistent in a sense, but not in a good one.
I guess time and space work differently for you tendies, huh.
You should be playing MHRise Sunbreak like a good tendie right now.
Not him but
>January
PLA
>February
>March
Triangle Strategy

>April
Switch Sports
>May
>June
Mario Strikers

And that doesn't even include notable multiplats and unannounced xmas lineup
I literally cannot finish my backlog.
Because it actually believes in EXCLUSIVES which is one of the best ways to incentivize buying your console?
Women LOVE the Switch
Women make up an incredibly small group of switch owners.
49% is too small?
Ever tendie I know owns like three of these fricking things for some fricking reason
Really? They probably have some of them hacked.
The future takes shape.
They won't do it because the Joy Cons need to be the same size.
It actually has games.
The Switch has video games.
no sweetie
Did you make this? If yes, how much time have you invested into making this?
More then he spent using his PS5.
>port
>on PC
>on other platforms
And?
You shit on sony for having no exclusives when a lot of yours are not in fact exclusive and/or run worse than other platforms
Switch has appeal.
t. don't own a switch (yet)
I always find it hilarious when people call BotW a "port", as though everyone already played it and then they made a slightly upgraded version for the Switch. After Mario, Mario, Mario, and Halo, BotW was probably the biggest launch title of all time.
This is lame. Must be really bad being yourself.
>Xenoblade 2
>It's OK
>Xenoblade 3
>Niche JRPG
???
You're gonna have a hard time in 3 weeks when this board gets the game.
At least correct that if you want to troll. And Bravely Deafult II is on PC as well, so change that to
>play on Deck instead
These dumb motherfrickers in the thread saying "better performance on X" or "port, also on Y" completely missing the point that the key feature of the Switch is portability. Guess I expected too much from people who never leave their PCs.
>that the key feature of the Switch is portability
Yes, and Switch can't compete with phones and tablets in portability, performance or sale numbers.
we go outside for other reasons, not to play with a childs toy.
No no no, you do not get it:
>Xbox
>A game gains nothing but graphics from being ported here
>Playstation
>A game gains nothing but graphics from being ported here
>Switch
>A game gains portability when ported here
Portability >>>>> graphics. Its an actual extra function that works. No it does not matter that you don't like it, or think its dumb, or think its not a function, its a literal new function gained period.
Even if that were true, the steam deck gives better performance and graphics than switch as well as having cheaping games all on the portable gimmick
And yet it will be little more than a footnote in history.
I don't emulate games
Can I go out and buy one right now?
>No but if you sign up for the waiting list-
Can I go out and buy one right now?
>If you had already signed up you'd have-
Can I go out and buy one right now?
That's what I thought.
Ok, but the steam deck is a bit harder to get ahold of, plus its more expensive by a wide margin.
>those don't matter
They matter.
>its more expensive by a wide margin
All it takes is for you to buy 3 overpriced 7 year old ports and suddenly your Switch is the most expensive console
Pac-Man World is getting a fricking remake?
Yes.
Kept you waiting, huh?
>Using white font
moron
Switch hasn’t got a big game in like 3 months
Xenoblade 3 and Splatoon 3
>kirby forgotten land
>triangle strategy
>mario strikers
>switch sports
>fire emblem 3h warriors
>etc
you gays are so beyond pathetic.
>Shovelware = big games
Yikes, is the state of Switch so bad these days?
>Yikes
How old are you?
>D-Doesn't count!
>Maybe if you're looking at Playstation vs Xbox
Anon, it's been true for every system.
I'm talking specifically about the current generation. Nintendo combining home console with handheld is new, and they also have more 3rd party games available than ever before (that might not be true; I haven't owned a Nintendo console since N64).
It's funny too because the ones shitting on it is also doing the same thing.
Nintendo may be a shit company in a lot of ways but I cannot not respect how in a time when Activision cancels THPS remakes because it didn't make ALL the money, Nintendo still regularly puts out weird/niche stuff like 2D Metroid, Luigi's Mansion etc.
Luigi's Mansion isn't niche. 3 sold 11 million copies.
>give small budget to a niche game
>make some money
>employees get more experienced
>more games means more chances to get lucky and releasing a game that exceed expectations like animal crossing or three houses
>they are all exclusives so they can potentially convince some people to buy your console
>it also makes your console more attractive because there is larger selection of games
I am surprised that their competitors don't do that.
Maybe too much administrative overhead per-project (accounting, advertising, leadership)
I can't imagine another reason to just outright reduce the number of projects you have by deleting all smaller ones and only keeping the megaproductions
>I am surprised that their competitors don't do that.
Because everything they crap out has to be on a Hollywood blockbuster budget.
And these blockbusters still sell less than Nintendo "smaller" games.
>weird/niche stuff like 2D Metroid, Luigi's Mansion etc.
next you're going to tell me dark souls is a hidden gem
>weird/niche stuff like 2D Metroid, Luigi's Mansion etc.
Just the special Splatoon 3 version coming in August that looks really nice, there lwon't be another model until at earliest late 2023 and it may not even be a "Pro" version but something like a Switch Lite OLED version.

>shovelware
I don't think you know how to use that insult.
how are switch sports chocobo and mario strikers not low effort cashgrabs
For one thing, strikers is a very well optimized and gets terrific reviews, along with having a lot of content and animations.
Switch Sports is is rebuilt ground up, with new sports and an entire stadium city created for it.
I'll give you Chocobo GP though.
Didn't catch that on the list.
is a very well optimized and gets terrific reviews
LOL
with having a lot of content
LMFAOOOOO
I was losing hope for Bayo launching on October, but out of nowhere Sony announced GoW for November, so maybe Nintendo could do the same
>but out of nowhere Sony announced GoW for November,
They announced it got November? Jesus, they sent it out to die.
The new designs will help with No Nut November at least
Pokemon will counteract that.
Why does gow matter?
Nintendo constantly just announces a game close to release or does a huge update trailer.

come on
It's easily the best console on the market since the other 2 are just shitty PCs that can't play any classic games.
what classic games can the switch play? it needs the cloud to run kingdom hearts lmao
>kingdom hearts
>classic
lmao
20 years anon, 20 years
More like Squeenix needed the cloud to avoid having to do an actual port.
>what classic games can the switch play? it needs the cloud to run kingdom hearts lmao
It can't even run Vectrex games properly for fricks sake.
>can't even run Vectrex games
Literally the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on that $50 expansion pack. I can't complain though, as it still has the best version of Tetris
uh can anything do vectrex games accurately other than a vector graphic display unit?
>one of the best se supported systems, and by far the best nintendo jrpg machine since snes
>b-but they didn't even bother to do a proper port of the disney game!
Maybe SE realizes that the Switch user base is a little older than that? I mean, whatever the reason they did a lazy cloud version it obviously wasn't because the Switch can't handle those games. They obviously made a conscious decision not to spend the time and effort on games they didn't think fit the target audience.
Thread Six.
How the frick is this loser still reposting?!
how much rent are tendies paying to live in your head?
>never played a 3D mario game before
>buy Mario 3D all-stars
>3 games for the price of one
>2 of them 10/10, 1 of them 6/10
worth it, SM64 is easily one of the best games i have ever played and i only played it for the first time a couple months ago
Which one was your 6/10?
Sunshine was the 6/10, it just felt rushed and should have had more development time. It still introduced a lot of great concepts that were used by the Mario games that came later. Keep in mind that for me, a 6/10 is a game that I would complete once but never have any desire to play again.
That's fair. A lot of early gamecube stuff seemed cursed to be rushed since nintendo were worried about sales. Even melee was made in less than a year
Melee was somwthing israelite 13 months I belueve. Still insane considering the amount of content.
actual based frogposter
Imbecilic frogposter
I hope the 6/10 isn't sunshine
It could only be sunshine.
now get 3D World and Odyssey
also play 3D Land and Galaxy 2 somewhere else
Most interesting post in the thread.
I wonder what is it like to find and enjoy m64 for the first time in 2022. I love the game, and i dont think it has aged a bit.
>that feeling of playing mario 64 for the first time
giwtwm
What did you like about SM64?
You can play on a Switch sitting next to your wife watching some stupid romcoms in the living room
You can play on a Switch with your kids / your kids can play on the Switch
A Switch is cheaper than any other current-gen option
Nintendo has reliable high-quality, family-friendly content for casuals without any news of gambling for kids and other shit
People just want a break from the hardships of life. Most people have lives and real problems, so they don't seek validation from super hard video games to feel better about themselves. They just want to bing bing wahoo for an hour before bed.
>Relatively inexpensive
>Lightweight and portable, with small cartridges
>Not top of the line power but still decent performance for anyone who's not obsessed with photorealism.
Mario would look stupid if he real, especially with his nose and other weird proportions.
>minecraft and zoomnite are the most successful games ever made
>haha nintendo will lose because their grafics are shit lol
Kek this. Having realistic graphics in your game is against the trends. It makes sense. Zoomers never witnessed technical limitations so realistic graphics do not impress them. My nephew was shocked when I told him that chrono trigger on his phone is from 30 years ago. He thought he is playing modern indie.
Funny. It's kind of how realistic art went out of fashion after invention of photography.
games
Posting a classic.
He probably got erectile dysfunction a year later. Call me a moron on any of this, I know it's easier to talk back after all this but:
>battery life issue
fair concern but expectations on battery life depends on per person
>720p in 2017 issue
Its a handheld, we knew about docked mode where some games can get better performance on it.
>shitty tenga processor issue
Dont know enough to comment on that
>usual nintendo controller-design autism issue again
The joycon gimmick didn't get in the way of gameplay unlike the Wii U where it's sometimes required or need to buy a separate accessory to play it traditionally. I hate the joycons personally but it helps compliments the hybrid aspect of the console as you don't need to buy a controller to play docked.
>no 3rd party issue
wait till he sees the first year of every gaming device.
>overpriced issue
same price of a PS4(?) and Xbox One S(?), consumers knew that the switch could fill the role of both a home console and handheld.
Zoomers are literally buying CRT tvs and people don't understand how the Switch is popular?
What's the correlation?
The newest hardware with the prettiest graphics has been diminishing returns for 3 generations at this point and most people just care more about playing fun games. I'm not saying those are the same people buying CRTs and Switches.
>Buy PS5
>FFXIV and Astrobot
>Buy Xbox
>Halo
>Buy Switch
>about a dozen decent games to play
It's pretty clear.
I'd maybe get a Deck if it could be docked like a Switch. That's a feature Valve definitely should have replicated.
I'm surprised how enjoyable the docking and handheld 'forms' of the console are.
The only problem is some game UI isn't meant for handheld or TV. You can see Metroid Dread's UI is for handheld in a general sense whereas with Fire Emblem, nothing scales down properly to the handheld mode.
you can dock it though?
>I'd maybe get a Deck if it could be docked like a Switch.
Pretty sure you can get an USB-C to HDMI dock converter to plug your Deck on the TV. Valve just hasn't made one themselves. Got to agree they should have thought of it but maybe they could have run into legal trouble? They should have given it a HDMI port however.
tick tock snoys, tick tock
Predict the exact month, anons.
December 2022. We may see a price drop near the end of the year, which will boost sales.
November 2022
>We may see a price drop near the end of the year, which will boost sales.
For the past 3 shareholder meetings Furukawa was saying that because of shortages they can't make enough Switches to meet the demand.
What would a price drop achieve?
November. Video game related Christmas gifts are never bought on December because both games and consoles are released on November.
Pokemon Sca/Vio will be the system seller this year. And if Nintendo does a bundle, it's over.
Nintendo should launch ScaVio on the same day that GOW Ragnarok launches just to show AAAgays that nobody gives a frick about their games.
Remember how snoys were desperate enough to claim that the Switch is 8th gen to save face when it comes to 9th gen sales. I wonder how they will cope when that claim means that they either admit that the PS4 lost 8th gen or that the PS5 is 90 million sales behind 1st place.
The seething will make board unusable for a while.
Wikipedia confirmed snoys
That whole 8th gen claim is moronic
>PS4 has been out for four extra years
>Only 10 million more with with PS4 Pro double dipping
Do they even have a cope for this?
Actually, they have.
PS4 and PS4 Pro are the exact same console. Switch is hybrid, aka both home console and a handheld. It's 2 consoles in 1, so those 108 mil sold units basically means that Nintendo sold 54 mil home consoles and 54 mil handhelds.
>AYYYY AHAHAHA OHNONONONO only 54 mil! Nintendo is doomed!
(when you see threads, know it's not me)
close, but not quite.
The cope is that the switch is home console + handheld. only selling 107mil.
Which is a flop to the 255mil wii+ds did.
That's the actual cope.
I thought the cope was just acting like the PS4 vs Switch thing never existed and to hide behind PS2 sales.
That still would fail because the PS2 only sold 100 million by the time the ps3 came out. They just tracked it 8 years after the PS3 came out.
>FLOP
august sees the ps4 fall. squids will rule the world.
We will become splatoon.
I like the switch but godamn i reallt fricking hate tendies and their consolewar shit
Do you honestly believe that it's tendies making the non-stop Switch threads?
2017 to 2022 is five years
Considering Switch is mostly has phone and mobile games on it, it should be compared to phones. And considering there are literally over 1 billion of just Android phones sold every year, Switch is irrelevant.
children are born every year, there will always be demand for a handheld
I always find it hilarious when people don't know how to capitalize a sentence or use a fricking period and then call other anons children. Zoomers are fricking moronic.
Yet the Vita and Deck tanked.
In part because they were stupid enough to try and push those to adults more likely to use their phones to play something disposable at lunchtime. Sony stopped promoting Vita after ONE year just because portable Call of Duty flopped.
Doesn't that apply to economics in general, as in every product?
"Nintendo Switch 2, the future of gaming"

Im not even a nintendogay
>good console keeps selling
>WOW DOOD HOW
Really makes you think.
i have a PS5, series X, a good PC and a switch
i barely play the Xbox or PS5, mostly I'm using my PC and switch
still waiting on my deck, though I hardly think I'll stop using my switch, it's just too damn comfy to play in bed
It's Nintendo. They can make video games for people ages 3 years old to 75 years old, maybe even older than that. That is something that Sony and Microsoft are still not able to do, despite their efforts.
Are there genuine Snoys here, or is it all just shitposters? I thought TLOU2 killed them all off.
They're all genuine unfortunately.
Because it barely sold jack shit in the uk and is massively down everywhere else. 24% more than 4 sales is only 5 sales.
This is the 4th? 5th time we've have this thread in the last 2 days?
They got to make up for the famitsu thread yesterday
>OP doesn't understand that every year a new batch of kids turn old enough for their first Nintendoo
>The subtle downwards curve for early teens
>That fricking absurd spike at 18
What this graph shows is that kids up to about 10 or or set their real age (Or their parents do), whereas kids ~13 to 17 lie and say they are 18 in order to not get the mature content blocked.
If you account for that, the curve from 5 to 20 would look natural and the exact inverse of the one from 20 to 35.
They usually get a Playstation before a Nintendo to play shit like CoD, Fortnite and Spider-Man.
There are shortages, moron
Everything has shortages you coping imbecile, it's not conveniently exclusive to playstation.
And even then people aren't going after PS5s as aggressively as they were before, you can even just find one or two sitting in stores occasionally.
only non Black person worshipping troon console
By actually releasing good games frequently, which makes the snoys here seethe and have mental break downs.
Day 4271 of Ganker not understanding that they're a minority of the vidya market and that the bulk of sales are from normies that they don't understand either.
Where did you go plateuanon? Did you think I wouldn't look up the sources myself or something?
constant discount at 180€
Do we have the 2022 version of Wii's "it prints money" gif?
Since 2017
Don't know about a 2022 version but there's this.
Basado
Does that bother you?
>Does it bother you that more people are drawn to and happy with a shitty underpowered tablet that plays games at 12fps in 360p and halts progression instead of something that actually pushes this industry forward.
Yes. It does.
>Does it bother you that more people are drawn to and are happy with a tablet that has plenty games instead of 1 mediocre movie experience a year and keeps making playstation look like a joke
Yes. it does make you seethe and shart your undies.
>LE ONE MOVIE A YEAR MAYMAY
Why are you ignoring the dozens on fantastic third party games that come out every year on PS4/PS5 that skip the Switch?
I didn't say I was special, just that I have standards in this industry.
So you're a graphics prostitute. Quit being so uptight about performance and you might enjoy more games.
party games
KEK, you just play them on PC were they're even better, hell you can even get a better experience on Xbox.
Or maybe Ganker is the minority and the public is fine with that.
You aren't special.
>halts progression
Outside of graphicshomosexualry, how is the switch doing anything to halt progression.
Today I will remind them
Today I will remind you that nintendo counts replacing drifted joycons as a brand new switch console sale, inflating the total just like microsoft did with the 360 rrod.
HOLY MOTHER OF ALL COPES! This snoy already has a noose around his neck.
>Today I will remind you that nintendo counts replacing drifted joycons as a brand new switch console sale
Where's your proof of this?
Source is his shit filled diaper.
Where's your proof that it doesn't happen?
You can't prove a negative because it's non-existence is proof.
How convenient
Not convenience it's common sense proving something doesn't exist is an oxymoron.
Still waiting for proof of
's statement
Burden of proof is on them, not me. They made a claim that they can't prove.
>Today I will remind you that nintendo counts replacing drifted joycons as a brand new switch console sale,
Wouldn't the Switch have a low attach rate if this were true?
It does though? Less than 2% for most games.
False, spiderman sold more
When you add PS5 version sales and Miles Morales to the number
nope, that guy was talking about the PS4 version which sold 20M+ which is more like a 20% attach rate which is still good

They never will because their identity is too wrapped up in hating Nintendo.
>strikers is selling so well in europe you find games instantly playing ranked
doomerbros.. this game was supposed to be dead on arrival
1. It has games people want to play, and it's popularity ensures it will keep getting games as well.
2. It has an actually useful gimmick this time around
3. It's relatively inexpensive compared to the other consoles of this generation
That's all it really takes to have a winning console on your hands.
i'll stick with the switch for adults - the Steam Deck
There is still many people to sell. We have probably 3 billion people as potential buyers in the world.
The disc eric, eat it.
Why do people set themselves up for failure?
Because some people just have a humliation fetish
muh portability, never seen one outside lol
How often are you outside?
I saw it all the time with the nerd circle of high school back then, you should be comparing the people who use them to people who had a DS / 3Ds back then. Obviously a adult isn't going to be playing with one outside unless they're on some vacation.
no one's gonna play it outside you moron, you play it during break times in school, work, travel e.t.c.
The Deck's screen is so bad you wouldn't even be able to use it outside even if wanted to.
>playing videogames at work during your break
id fire you for lack of T

>UK
Who cares
They won't have a country in 3 months when Russia invades
i been thinking about buying one, is there a new one coming out anytime soon?
It's already out for a year. It's called OLED version. Nothing else was ever announced. Just buy it. You can buy cheaper old version if you only plan to play docked. (new version only improves battery life and screen quality)
leaker that leaked the splatoon special edition switch has said another version will be announced in september. almost certainly bullshit.
100% is going to be a special Pokemon Scarlet and Violet version, it's going to easily print money while morons seethe over no Pro model.
It will be Switch Smaller Dock or Switch with Slightly Bigger Screen or Switch Camera.
because
You need to scratch off Returnal as that's going to PC soon, so that's only a total of 3 exclusives after 2 years kek.
respect the actual comparison there
Tetris 99 and Fire Emblem Three Hopes are neither remakes or remasters.
Three hopes was probably unreleased when that pic was made because it also lists returnal as exclusive
Returnal is still exclusive if you don't count unreleased games
Mario Party Superstars is not a remake, remaster or rerelease, it's a sequel that compiles older minigame and boards into one game.
It's also technically not a compilation, as it's a weird sequel with its own identity and board mechanics.
The ps5 is fricking dogshit. Imagine being nearly 2 years in and those are your exclusives. Hang your heads in shame fifaBlack folk.
How is Golf Story still exclusive to Switch? I know Sports Story is locked in development hell so they don't have the chance to port it themselves, but I'd think they'd have someone else do it or something. At least for PC, if nothing else.
Does anyone have a pic or the original source of where the leaker talked about the Sploon OLED and supposedly stronger hardware?
Exclusives and small children
I enjoy both but Nintendo is slacking lately, shit shouldn't take so long to come out. There's such a thing as overgilding a lily.
>son of dob
How did dobsons art unironically manage to get worse over time?
god forbid you make your characters likable and attractive
He actually is a pretty competent artist when he doesn't insist on stupid ugly 80s/90s cartooning
Nintendo is slacking when they don’t have competition, and it may be a while before they actually need to hustle again since it’s biggest competitors are no longer its competitors and Nintendo is firmly #1 in a massive yet niche market that no one else can do well in
It has games.
>It has Wii U games
Yeah great, but what about the Switch?
Plenty of games.
>Plenty of Wii U games
Yeah, but about the Switch?
Plenty of Switch games
The facts say otherwise
The facts say you're a homosexual
The facts say you don't have anything to play on your Switch so you need to cope by shitposting here
My play history says otherwise and your rainbow Twitter profile says otherwise.
>My play history full of shovelware and ports shows Switch has games
Weird cope
>doesn't deny he has a rainbow profile on twitter
That's a yikes from me my guy
>Doesn't deny Switch has no games
At least you're honest
Why do tendies like trump so much? Is it literally just because the magatard hats are red, which reminds them of BING BING WAHOO?
Trump and Mario are from NYC before college kids ruined everything. The KINO era.
Tendies don't have the right to vote yet, so it doesn't matter who they like
You know, this argument still has no ground and an oxymoron.
Their only real issue is first party content and in the future, keeping the Series S relevant without having things degrade back a generation to get ports on the system because of said cost-cutting.
aye I could've worded that better
I mean, I don't disagree with your primary premise but there are factors like how the Switch is unlikely to be a primary console and is more or less a companion one for a good chunk of video game console owners which also play into how much it sold up to this point despite normal people being the majority of buyers now. But given a choice where little Timmy wants a new video game console and doesn't have a strong preference for bing bing wahoo type games, the Series S is going to be a much easier sell to a Mom than a Switch given what you can play especially going into the future. In some ways, it's also a saving grace for Nintendo. They would've have to up their spending a ton for R&D and console production if they had to get hardware out that even remotely half as powerful as the PS5 and Xbox Series X if they were the only machines out for a successor Switch to get good third party ports of games.
>is affordable
>has exclusives
>has wide mass appeal due to large variety of available games and the option to use it as a handheld/docked console
why wouldnt it sell? either you buy a gaming PC, or you buy this, everything else just doesn't make sense.
>Is affordable
Buying Wii U ports for 60$ is the exact opposite of affordable
>Has exclusives
Yeah Wii U exclusives lmao
The average normie propably doesn't even know what exactly a Wii U is, and they won't care.
A majority of people who own a Switch aren't excatly enthusiastic about the hobby, they just want to play some games, or get their kids something to play games on, and the Switch is perfect for that due to its low price and its flexibility, simple as.
>brings back the fun of playing PSP WLAN with your buddies
>but you can also play it on your TV
>switching between the TV and portable takes literally no time
>comes with 2 controllers out of the box, so if two friends take their switches with them you can play 4 player co-op on the TV
>pairing controllers between consoles is easy as frick
Desperate snoy is desperate.
When Switch is plugged into the TV it runs at default clocks, otherwise it's underclocked in handheld mode.
nomad is a portable genesis
The difference is that the PSP never committed to that idea. It was nothing more than an Idea that never got off the ground because there was no practical reason for having it.
The Switch committed 100% of the way, which is why it's way more successful in that manner.
Maybe if Sony wasn't a homosexual and didn't kill off their mobile section, it would had competition. But hey check out these back sensors and camera lens to play video games with
because why the frick would i pay more than $300 for something my kids could break at any second
what are you, a moron
It's selling because both Xbox and Playstation killed themselves. Currently Switch is the only console OR handheld that exists. It's not that great, but if you want a console or a handheld it's your only option.
My question is why does the Switch make Ganker seethe so much that they buy the Steam Deck just to shitpost?
>morons don't know the difference between attach rates and tie rates
Sony is a complete pile of woke garbage. I would install o fricking PS5 if I got it for free.
MS is also full of woke garbage, but even if it wasnt, you cant play their games on PC.
All that is left is the Nintendo switch, which hilariously is, so far, the one company with games still worth playing on a console.
There is nothing to be surprised about.
Since the beginning of this year
>Card Shark
>Mini Motorways
>Neon White
>Elechead
>Citizen Sleeper
>Triangle Strategy
>MH Sunbreak
>Kirby
>Pokemon Arceus
>Fire Emblem Three Hopes
>Switch Sports
>Mario Strikers
>Portal Collection
>Mini Motorways
>Kotor 2
And about 50 other games that aren't available on ps5
>literally who
>literally who
>literally who
>literally who
>literally who
>noonecaresaboutthatweebshit.jpg
>better on PC
>toddlershit
>dogshit tech demo
>tranime movieshit
>sports shovelware
>sport shovelware
>old ass games that are better on PC or XboX
>literally who
>old ass game better on PC or Xbox
damn nintroonys are delusional lmaooo
>Snoytroony has no clue about games
What a shock
For whatever reason I find Switch owners are more likely to purchase another one. Like I have gone through 3 of them in my lifetime so far:
>Animal Crossing Edition
>Lite I bought for my brother's birthday
>OLED edition
>and then Inevitable Switch Pro though Deck might fill that when it ships for me
While I think most people would just purchase a single box from Sony or Xbox at most for their lifetime. However, I wonder what the sales numbers are for people who went from a base PS4/One to a Pro/One X for example.
>buy switch tablet only and 3rd party joycon
>sell it
>buy switch lite
>sell it
>buy switch v2
can't wait to sell it so i can buy switch pro!

Man, I love that thread.
STOOPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT'S NOT ALLOWED TO OUT SELL THE PS2
STOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!!!!!!!!!
SONY DO SOMETHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's honestly crazy how well it's still selling. Another year on the market and a price cut and it probably will beat the PS2, and in almost half the time the PS2 took to do it.
They could have Switch successor be "part of the Switch family" and just get that N1 easily.
And remember, it's still selling fast during a possible massive recession. That's pretty impressive.
oink oink ericgay
Every home has to have one. Any other console is optional.
deckgays are always funny to me, if the switch is such an abomination why would you want to play its games in the first place? massive cope from wannabe pcgays
