This is another C64 to NES port like Lode Runner or Boulder Dash where Japanese developers really misunderstood the game and its slightly horrorcore atmosphere so they turned it into cutesy anime shit for Japanese 8 year olds.
I enjoyed it. Every mechanic works as intended, and the while the jumping and landing is extremely cumbersome, it works within the game world. Theres something deeply satisfying about zapping away ghosts
I think the one real complaint about the game I have is how it doesnt have new worlds, just the same map with hazards turned invisible
Chrontendo basically called this game a complete piece of crap and don't waste your time with it. It does suffer from a lot of the issues common to early period Famicom games especially the terrible terrible controls.

I'd rather waste my time with Spelunker than whoever that is.
I played a videogame in my aunt's laptop in 1997 that was in the same genere as Spelunker though not necessarily in a cave. The character was stockier like Wario and had a hat or miner cap. If any anon knows what game that is and told me I'd be forever grateful.
this was port of a C64 game i thought?
Yes.

i always wished Jumpman or Miner 2049er got NES port because those were better games than Spelunker imo.
it was also on Atari 8-bit
I've played this game for hours and can barely get anywhere but I still want to play it
Skill issue: the game
Does the protagonist deserve his reputation?
So much that he's got his own anime where he keep dying
I hate that shit
This is a game that just hates you.
Git gud
big Japanese hit, don't think this was ever that popular in the US
Ass spelunker
One of the hardest puzzles for me as a kid was figuring out that you have to jump off the elevator at the start or else you die
I'm addicted to this game thanks to a famiclone, years later I discovered the arcade version, it seems like a completely different game
there's also an arcade sequel that's much better than the fake and gay nes sequel
