Y'know, from what I've seen of the remake, it's no perfect, and I'm done with remake after remake over new content.
That being said, I still hope this and SMRPG do well so that the Mario Mandate can frick off for good.

You might be right.
I feel they're testing the waters if they want to fund a new RPG by remaking these if the money's there.
I'm kind of indifferent but I'm glad they're bringing both games back so that younger fans will finally be able to experience them for the first time. Hopefully they'll do the same for more of their older titles.
I don't know about you, but after smrpg and ttyd, the only games left on my dream remakes list are:
mother 1
snowboard kids 2
banjo tooie
scct
mario land 2
burnout 3
and that's it. And really of those the only likely one is splinter cell maybe, mother 1 will probably get skipped over for 2 and stop there. For the most part im good with remakes. Even as someone who loved mvsdk gba, I'm not really sure if I want the remake. The crunchy graphics are why I loved it - he doesn't even throw the mini mario orbs at the screen anymore
>mother 1 remake
I have a feeling they're saving that for a rainy day.
Remakes are the kind of thing I would've cared about a decade ago when we were getting games like Sonic 4 and DKC Returns. It was still cool seeing N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited, CTR Nitro-Fueled, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, and a few others, but by that point I already stopped playing modern games. Even if they made the greatest remake they possibly could, it's easier for me to just emulate the originals or play my old games for free lol
Mainly it's for the younger generation I think, plenty of people didn't grow up with the original games so this is a way to introduce them while making the games look a bit more modern. I feel the same way about Super Mario Wonder and Sonic Superstars, I would buy them for a friend before buying it for myself lol
>Mainly it's for the younger generation I think, plenty of people didn't grow up with the original games so this is a way to introduce them while making the games look a bit more modern
Which I think is a close-minded anyway. Are people not going to watch the original Star Wars movies because they don't have Marvel movie dialogue or CGI? Are people not going to listen to Frank Sinatra because there's no 808 kicks?
People aren't watching Star Wars because it's not Oppenheimer, and people aren't listening to Frank Sinatra because it's not Harry Styles or Taylor Swift. And people aren't playing SNES and Genesis games because it's not Apex, Genshin, Among Us, Friday Night Funkin', etc etc.
In fact, you know what? Try starting a Frank Sinatra thread on Ganker and see what happens. I tried this very same thing with Bing Crosby a few days ago and got like two replies.
>Ganker
Why? That's not indicative of anything, Ganker is beyond the far beyond gone. Frank Sinatra is still listened to by the new generation, not as much as Taylor swift, sure, but I'm fairly certain in another 50 years (if we're all still here) then frank sinatra will still be around while Taylor swift doesn't have staying power, you literally have to be consistently and constantly berating young impressionable minds forcefully with Taylor swift music until it becomes programmed into their heads.
>I'm fairly certain in another 50 years (if we're all still here) then frank sinatra will still be around while Taylor swift doesn't have staying power
I agree to this part. Bing Crosby and Johnny Mathis are also basically the voice of Christmas.
Well they certainly aren't going to LOOK for them. You underestimate the average normalgay's laziness and ineptitude.
What a fricking gay. The only games that need remade are the games that suffer from some major flaw the could be easily fixed, or games that have trash early 3D graphics. 16 bit games don't need remade at all.
But also, your troon taste is fricking dispicable.
Remasters:
Mega Man legends and tron with twin stick controls
Breath of Fire iv with all 3D enemies replaced with 2D enemies
Wild arms 2 with total retranslation
Entire panzer Dragoon series
Soul Calibur 2 - why the frick is this on ps3 but not on switch?
Powerstone 2
Remakes:
Brave Fencer Musashi with total platforming overhaul
Final Fantasy 8 with total mechanics overhaul
Parasite eve 1, since pre rendered backgrounds never remaster for shit, and also the script dumps everything on you too soon.
Legend of dragoon (i think the graphics suck)
Drakengard Trilogy given the nier Replicant treatment
Twisted Metal 2 or black (car games tend to be a great candidate for remakes because it's hard to frick up the design of a car)
Vagrant story - more streamlined menus
Castlevania Legacy of Darkness - has a lot of potential
Shining Force 3 - 3D is trash, go back to 2D sprites
>begging for switch ports
lol
It would be the only version that could have all characters from all versions, cuz link. Dumb ass.
I heard it running at 30FPS might cause issues? But we'll have to see.
Mother 1 already got a remake on GBA.
>Mother 1 already got a remake on GBA.
Sorry I thought you were talking about Earthbound. Also I meant something like an official remake rather than fan made.
What's wrong with it? I hate most remakes (or even ports that mess with control schemes) but this looks like VERY faithful. The lighting also looks fantastic while the original bafflingly always rendered in fullbright mode which was a big downgrade over how dynamic 64's lighting system was.
there's no point in a faithful remake of something like paper mario, especially TTYD onward when the sprites aren't pixelated. either remake an actual retro game to wow people with the visuals or be nonfaithful by adding a ton of content like SM64DS.
I see campaigns for people buying multiple copies of this but not smrpg, although I saw more smrpg reaction videos. I'm scared paper mario fans will btfo smrpg and be the death of square enix mario, or any other rpg aside from ttyd. This is all assuming the best case scenario where ttyd destroys origami king and nintendo acknowledges it, but I'm worried smrpg only has a boomer appeal with how the presentation on the isometric combat. I hope it sells well even just for a welcomed return of geno, mallow, smithy, etc. Merch and cameos in future spinoffs would be nice.
this makes me wish nintendo saved the ttyd announcement for next direct after smrpg released. now we just have this weird split between both games from people who aren't looking at the bigger picture for mario rpgs as a whole.
Dude, they're months apart. Plenty of time for sales of both.
