The last minute of a series and it defines the entire lot. I don't know who's worse, those who make a fuss anytime anything represents them, or you freaks who basically do the exact same thing only in the negative. You cretins would be hailing Korra as a masterpiece if in that last minute had she decided to kiss the male protag.

          what is an avatar?

            Anonymous

So rather than do something cool and logical, like maybe the "spirit of the world" or something, it's basically this autistically circumstantial thing.

There were two godlike spirits that are giant flatworms, one representing good and the other evil. They fight each other and if one kills the other you get an 1000 years of light or 1000 years of darkness until the winning spirit gives birth to the loser.

The first Avatar was this guy called Wan in an era where humans lived on Lion Turtles which each had a power of bending for some reason, retconning how mankind learned bending and what the first series Lion Turtle's exposition.

Wan gets tricked or some shit into letting the evil flatworm win. Oh no 1000 years of darkness! Except the good flat worm fuses with him to keep on living. She uses her worm powers to allow Wan to get bending from each turtle by "holding them" and then they seal the bad flatworm into a tree.

Thus it's a "technical stalemate" and the good worm can sort of do her job from within a human body which will keep happening because she's fused to Wan's soul or some shit unless he dies in avatar state.
This is all so a bad guy can release the evil worm and absorb him to become the Anti-Avatar despite the Avatar being some sort of cheat to stop a dark age that's been going on for too long. It's just really really dumb lore handling all around.

It's supposed to feel like an old myth, not a highly logical explanation

                Anonymous

It's moronic and doesn't even feel like something like a classic "Hero's trials" sort of deal. It misses the point of the Avatar being an agent of "balance" rather than an objective good.

The ability to use all bending amounting to just collecting bending from turtles is moronic.
The original Lion Turtle taught Aang life bending with an exposition about an ancient era where beings bent the spirit of things. He wasn't saying "I am a turtle, we all have the magic power to grant bending". It comes off as a bad fanfiction, like the two tards without their wrangler were unable to comprehend why they had things set up a certain way.

It didn't fully retcon the lore though. The lion turtles merely rented out their powers to humans, you see this when Wan and his friend go and get fire that they used as a light source. It's not until later with the montage thing showing Wan dancing with dragons that he's actually bending under his own strength.

And you must be some tree hugger, delusional idealist, thinking animals and plants have anything to teach to humans, and not just try to multiply. E.g. thinking original cartoon was "soo deep" because the interconnected forest tree, while in reality there is an actual banyan tree in India, that is basicly a giant invasive and destructive flora, that cracks concrete with it's routes, and spreads rapidly, hard to contain.

The original cartoon was racemixing shit as well. Aang falling for the first watertribe pussy he meets, Sokka pursueing earth aligned girl (Suki).

Korra at least was hot, and a rare muscle girl. Depicting her as actually physically strong was significantly better than unrealistic presentation by real actresses pretending to be strong on screen in live action titles.

Also Korra's moronation always came with it's own punishment, and the main message of the series is that she should have obeyed her father and her menthor, than most bad things could have been avoided.

Season one, she disobeyed Tenzin, got her power taken away, beaten up a bunch of times, at the mercy of villains. Got the republic city fleet sunk.

Season two, she disobeyed her father, got her tribe wrecked, got her countryman to hate her, flooded the world with fricking spirits, nearly destroyed republic city.

Season 3, still the consequences of previous season, thrown Earth Kingdom into anarchy, got crippled for a long time.

Season 4, still the consequences of season 2, got Zaifu destroyed, got Republic City destroyed, teared the fabric of reality, opening a new spirit portal.

Korra wasn't awful, she was a sheltered rural girl, who actually put in effort to improve her body, and she got fricking strong (season 1, she lifts Tenzin up during a hug, Tenzin is taller than Korra). She is instinctually carnivore, no hippy vegan bullshit like airbenders have. She likes to fight, she have a sense of justice too, as soon as she arrives in Republic City she goes after criminals. It's just she have her mental limitations, and she is easy to manipulate, because she is a still hormone drive female, sheltered one at that. I loved how grug she was sometimes, e.g. after getting crippled, first thing she does as soon as she can stand is to go to fight in a bender cage fight, and getting beaten up, my "I could fix her" instincts were kicking in.

Previous avatars helping the new one is part of the lore, just to avoid it being the go to solution they made Aang be frozen before learning how to access them, and had Korra be bad at spiritual stuff and meditating (an other character flaw). They did make Aang spirit say a line, about Korra being at her low point, made her open to "change" (gain access to previous avatars, lack of imagination that they made her go straight for Aang though, would have enjoyed that semi-bald air chick from the trainer game).

Also Korra was actually kicked out of Republic City, by the president. And she pout, and did the "I don't want to be here anyways" bit, and then went with Tenzin to look for airbenders. Though how avoidant were the new airbenders was surprising, in their plance in that universe I'd do it just for access to Korra. And I would want to actually master my power within that universe.

    >create a character so players can make their own avatar OC
    >character is relatively young and decent in one bending style of their choosing. They were complacent and lazy just chilling until a big event happens and they resolve to gain mastery over their powers and beat the big bad
    >republic city is the central hub
    >go to each nation to explore and learn from a bending master and also beat a local conspiracy/enemy faction that is tied to the big bad
    >combat has a stance for each element and then hotkeys for forms that can be combined for different moves, also generic light and heavy attacks for nonbending punches and kicks
    >build meter to activate avatar state super moves that combine elements
    >get unique mounts to fly around the regions
    easy money

maybe but It also means a gimped avatar state, and more futuristic technology which the setting does not lend itself well to

You play as a character similar to Shepherd and Geralt in that their personality is somewhat preset but not completely.
Having your OC be the Avatar would probably piss some people off unless it's set in the distant past, so how about giving your character the ability to learn from 2 different schools of bending, instead of 1 or 4? Handwave it with spirit realm frickery, and explain that the Avatar has fallen into a coma or whatever, so you're the next best thing.
Story premise is simple, you get to choose your background and nation of origin, then you have to solve a diplomatic crisis of some kind, then you save the world. Companions will obviously follow.
The more I'm thinking about this the more it's becoming apparent to me that the game would have to be similar to older BioWare titles, or like BG3.

Easy mode: Party-based real-time RPG, similar to KOTOR. Takes place a few thousand years before ATLA at an undisclosed time. You create your own Avatar, whichever element you pick determines your starting point. You travel the world just like in ATLA. There's lots of different moves to unlock and you can specialize or mix elements together for various effects.
Hard mode: Cyberpunk Avatar. A world where the Republic has become an economic and military superpower, fueled by a new energy source which is extracted from spirits (and eventually destroys them). This drives the spirits mad and causes them to lash out against all technology. As the Avatar you must be the bridge between humans and spirits and find balance. Also you get a cool sword.

since none of them have super forms, and aang and korra can use the avatar state, they all get access to master level bending, provided they can build enough ki during the fight to unlock a special move.

failing that, you could do an isometric CRPG but with a new gang of kids but in pre industrialized times that took place 300 years into the past. these kids are all trying to master bending, so their goal is to travel the land and look for a master to train them. along the way, they cross paths with the avatar, and help him on his journey to master the elements. while pursuing that goal, they uncover an ancient evil that threatens the world, whatever. frickin' baldur's gate 3 but in avatar's universe.
    >explore the world! learn about the rich culture of every nation!
    >travel the land and defend yourself from rogues, pirates, wandering bending warriors who challenge anyone they see to battle!
    >solve mysteries and quest for mystical artifacts and loot!
    >compete in the arena for glory and bending proficiency!

It wouldn't be that hard to make a game after Korra. Either make it an rpg where you'd fight the spirits, pushing them back to the spirit world, with the goal of sealing the portals again. Or a strategy game, where you'd fight between nations with their mecha tanks, airships, planes, and dreadnaught ships. If you'd go fully adult it infantry battles could be extremely gorey fun, with hero units making area effect attacks, like metal benders cutting opponents apart, fire benders burn them alive, air benders suffocate others in hurricanes, blood benders cripple others. Other thing that could work in either era is vr with hand sensors fps bender fight. Also notable mention is porn games, with an already notable title: Four Elements Trainer (just without the gross old stuff). So concept is not that hard.

Souls/Zeldalike dungeon-crawler RPG where players can make their own donut-steel, and play any bending style of their choice. Each element gets different sub-classes based on bending styles from the show (lightning bending, blood bending, metal, etc.)

Open-world would be cool, but also hard to truly emulate the world of Avatar with how big it is, so the game would have to be set somewhere specific. Republic City works well for a Post-Korra setting incorporating all bending styles, though I'm personally a fan of Ba Sing Se or one of the Fire Nation colonies.

True Hard Mode: Incorporate a non-bender gameplay style.
Allow certain elements to react and/or build on one another a la Genshin Impact.

Dungeons will be like Lufia and Golden Sun where you have to solve puzzles using your abilities. What show did you watch? Aang jobbed in every fight. Him pushing his "I win" button at the last second doesn't count as him winning since that always happened well after he got his ass beat. That's what I like about Korra and what normalgays hate. The Avatar State doesn't just instantly win every fight because the villains aren't moronic and have a reasonable amount of power and skill to stand up to it. The fights are way more interesting.

        >morons unironically defending Korra in these threads

The reason why Avatar was interesting wad because even though Aang was LE CHOSEN WAN he was still a kid and not very powerful unless he was avatar mode, and even then he was scared of using this power and couldn't really control it for a good while. He also had to go through a whole journey to learn the elements despite being supposed to be a "master of the elements" and still struggled with it. Meanwhile Korra is KICKASS and starts out being a master of the 3 elements from the start why? Because she's the CHOSEN WAN, that's why. And a girl too. Girl power.

Korra was in her late-teens, training all her life by the time of season one. The brief intro about her makign a puff of fire, splashing a bit of water, and bringing down a shit tier eskimo village wall is not that outrageous flex.

            Anonymous

It is considering Aang had to learn the elements while Korra just knew 3 of them as a toddler because she's the Avatar.

              Anonymous

Aang had a nice life, highly social, hanging around bunch of other kids, having her time filled with fun, not knowing he is the Avatar, no reason to focus on other elements prior.

Korra was living like an eskimo out on the South Pole, probably nothing to do, but stay indoors, feed the fire while that young, so she'd might accidentally discovers her gifts. Otherwise by the time she is actually competent by the start of season 1, she is 17. Aang is at master level of his native element by the time that he is 12, and he picks up other elements within a few weeks of introduction to them at that age. Aang learns waterbending faster than Katara in the cartoon. Aang was strong with fire too on first try, so much that it scared him. His most aversion was to earth bending, yet he learned it with some tough love from Toph too. Toph is also 12, master of earth bending, and first to discover metal bending, at same age. Korra who knows that she is the Avatar, and who was trained by master benders from childhood being competent in 3 elements at 17 is not that big a flex. And it took her way more time to pick up airbending than for Aang the other elements. Plus meditating, Korra can't do it at 17, Aang can do it at 12. Doing a little bit of everything as a todler is not that big deal. It could be waived away that she accidentally found out she can do two stuff, and tried the third because being told she is probably the Avatar, because only avatars can do more than one bending type. It was within believable limits within frame of that universe.

Katara sucked, whiney c**t, Sokka was a comic relief, and butt of every joke, Zuko sucked, mopey gay. Azula was the cool girl from fire nation in the original cartoon. Toph ruled though, actually kicked ass, but funny trivia is that is because that character was designed as a giant muscly male (as shown in that play on Ember Island), just replaced the character to be a tiny girl for shock value.

Nah, even if they didn't make the characters job constantly, the new cast is just unlikable and bland as frick, the new westernized setting sucks, and all the cool worldbuilding regarding bending has been utterly shat on. Korra has far too many problems.

Nope, Korra failed as a character, because she's just Toph if Toph was incompetent. She had all that arrogance and couldn't back it up. That's where they went wrong. First she gets defeated by that masked guy.(I never learned who he was, because I didn't watch long enough to see the reveal) She was utterly defeated. Completely left to his mercy. Failed.
Then she lost her sports game. Failure.
Then she gets destroyed by that blood bender, and locked into a box. Failure.
Note: I may have these events out of order. But it doesn't matter which order you arrange them in. It shows a constant pattern of failure. Which makes for a shit main character.

nothing wrong with an incompetent mc as long the supporting cast does it's job and there's proper character development. aang wasn't perfect and often got by with help from his friends.

What plagued the Korra show was the israeli voice actors. Ruined Pema and Jinora, whom were liked in the FET trainer, but not in the actual cartoons, due to their voice. Ikki is cool though, in both.

I liked hearing her improve over the course of the series. It's not quite the same as hearing the original cast physically grow up but it's close. She really fricking sucked in season 1 but by 4, I was in love with her.

she recently gave up the role of Korra to "let a person of color take over" because she's a turbo liberal

That is honestly some of the worst voice acting I've heard in a while but I don't expect much from a game so cheaply made. They only put voices in because people complained about the first one not having any right? I don't think cheap video game roles is a good environment for this new chick to improve but maybe I'm wrong.

Personally, I would have just used AI. The Korra AND Aang voices sounded pretty good last I checked.

assasin's creed copy but with bending.
MC is a bender way before aang's time. begins as an airbender, and learns of sozin's comet. gives it to that dumb owl spirit.
maybe goes to the spirit world and realizes xhe/xer doomed the world in the future. dies in the spirit world, idc

unironically a game with assassin's creed's exploration and platforming with airbending and other hijinks (w/ decent but relatively simple combat) could work. NO crafting, items are only cosmetics, weapons/powers scale with you.

the point is to explore the avatar world and get in avatar shenanigans, maybe have a lot of quests.

I literally just finished this show yesterday and it was cool. The praise was merited, but back in the day I never watched it outside of a couple of episodes.
Anyways, those Dai li or whatever the frick are a bunch of fricking morons.
    >oh the avatar just came to our city and he can seriously frick our shit up but he is just looking for his bison and he'll leave if he find it
    >let's threaten the avatar and his bison though for no reason and even though we dont have the bison anyways
    >oh shit we found the bison let's capture it and hide it so that the avatar doesnt leave
No wonder the dai li agents pressed start and switched sides when Azula showed up and played them. Even though they could've dealt a massive blow to the fire nation if they had just earth bended Azula since she was alone with only 2 other non bender girls with her.

    I choose normal mode then.
Team based action RPG game about Team Azula (Azula, Ty, Mai, Zuko) hunting Team Avatar.
    - semi open world with hand crafted single player levels (variety of open battles, diplomatic solutions and sneaking)
    - full team customization (looks, abilities, equipment, stats)
    - you can play as either as Zuko or Azula, they have different advantages and disadvantages during the story
    - can switch freely between team members in battle, combo between them
    - enemies are mostly other benders and monsters along with tricky bandits for smaller side missions
    - major focus on story with decisions that actually matter
    - you can influence your teammates and bring them closer or push them away
    - can keep your character canon or change their allegiances and their fate even if you play your cards right
    - clashes with Team Avatar from time to time
    - epilogue is the Agni Kai where the basic setup and the outcome depends on your decisions and performance in game (you can turn Azula or Zuko to the other side even)
    - beach episode is part of the deluxe edition
    - swimsuit costumes are preorder bonuses
    - game begins with an epic limited battle between the two teams where you ultimately win and it turns out Ty was dreaming about the final battle as the team is packing up and begins the hunt

It was completed, with Love Route having a hapily ever after part post Book 4. But maker started to add new content again, expanding Slave Route Book 4, redoing the same timeline as Love Route Book 4, just from Slave Route perspective. It only have a little content so far, forces you to replace Book 4 Slave Route to reach it, which was mediocre, but it does have potential, like to have more Jinora and Korra content. Too bad the makers, or his patrons have a thing for old women, because he is wasting time on making Kya stuff again.

No, I think they were just there to swim, and maybe eat, experience temperature, as they were in koi carp form, and those can't really frick. Female fish just lays eggs, and male fish just cums into the water near those eggs, spraying around, mass reproduction.

That was never said in the original. What was said is that the animals were the original benders, not that all bending came from them. Toph specifically learned how to bend from a badger mole but that does not automatically mean that the first human to ever earthbend did the same. Korra also doesn't say or show that humans were the first to ever be gifted bending, all it shows is that lion turtles gave bending to the first Avatar and some other people. That is called added context, not a contradiction.

The actual contradiction in Korra is the fact that people in the world before the Avatar are already bending elements. That shouldn't be the case because the lion turtle Aang met said that before bending the elements, people just bent straight up energy before there was an Avatar. Korra shit all over the already vague and underutilized concept of energybending when they should have expanded upon it.

Avatar Game about a young teenage Avatar stopping and resolving conflicts involving the Spirit World. Obviously set before Korra because jesus christ do I need to clarify why.
If we want to be lazy just make it a bootleg 'Princess Mononoke' affair but slowly leading up to that.

    >Simple spirits which need something easy sorting like "oh no humans are being mean to me please stop them"
    >Geological spirits or Animal spirits.
    >A few marauding Earth Kingdom spirits angry due to how the Earth Kingdom has overtaken most of the mainland.
    >Maybe Koh could show up for fan wank reasons or because he's cool. Could easily put any other fan fave TLAB spirits there like Heibai or crazy owl
    >Enraged Dragon spirit pissed off because fire benders are genociding all the dragons

The issue would be cementing them to TLAB's world and not TLOK world. I think the amount of time spent in the spirit world should be kept as little as possible. Have locations from the spirit world appear in the real world in an organic fashion, like the library

except for the spirit portals being opened and it being the future, so the setting loses most of what made it cool in the first place, no cool past avatars and raava existing

Spirit portal is also basicly a cheat code for story telling, because you can just make up a bunch of worlds, accessable through the spirit world, and make the lore world only the starting point, or home base. E.g. you could make a game, tv show, or movie, where Korra ends up in real world Earth through a strange exit of from the spirit world. Would be fun if both if Korra could keep her powers, and start to act like a godess, participating in wars, building bunch of stuff, or that if she would lose all her powers, and be just an out of place muscle girl, with pretty blue eyes. Would be also fun, if Korra was just either a junkie with complete memory loss hallucinating the whole Avatar part, and wakes up with a memory loss of her actual life piror, or same plot but with other mode of amnesia of her real past. I also have fantasies about making a Korra robot like the ones in Westworld, and have it believe some bullshit plot about her ending up here after being lost in the spirit world, while in reality she would be just a sex robot for me, with a larp theme.
