>Black Flag ship combat, sailing and shanties, boarding system, combat, exploration, literally 90% of the game's mechanics >just take out the Assassin shit and weapons, add a customizable character, and throw in some more pirate gimmicks
how in the frick was that so hard for Ubisoft that the damn game took this long to come out with such an inflated budget
Its called "they were robbing investors fricking blind and are only releasing this product due to legal obligation and to write it off as a loss for tax purposes"
GAAS is old shit, we on that "Games As An Investment" shit now. Fricking GAAI
It's getting there. These big companies are dealing with such a bad company are are now so bloated that they are having to manipulate failure and bad business decisions to keep themselves afloat.
The project was heavily funded by India, and used a Singapore development team. They missed endless quotas and what they produced couldn't even be salvaged. Ubisoft gave it a few (minor) tries before calling it a bust. Yet India's government pointed to all the funding (probably embezzled) it gave Ubisoft. So they threatened to sue, in India's court system. Unless Ubisoft could produce a game.
Calling it a AAAA game is a fricking joke, the funding doesn't mean anything compared to quality.
We have a fricking moron over here! Just go leave with your strawmen.
>tfw was actually really excited for this game when they first announced it in 2017 >tfw playing the demo now
Such a major disappointment, can Ubisoft do anything right anymore?
They’re such a boring company, like they’ve done absolutely nothing interesting in the past decade but still survive somehow.
because they can't decide whether to make the hair solid polygons attached to the head and face, or model each individual strand.
they start with the latter then give up halfway through and try to salvage it by slapping a "hair" sprite over it.
because they can't decide whether to make the hair solid polygons attached to the head and face, or model each individual strand.

Just do whatever korean mmos are doing cause those have gorgeous hair
>You can't walk around on it.
You're telling me in 11 years they couldn't get feet on the ship?
This is like all the space games. You get person or spaceship and nothing more.
>always get spacelust >only game that has ever satisfied my lust was Mass Effect and Starbound before it went to shit >expectations died before No Man's Sky, Outer Worlds, and Starfield, so I haven't even considered trying them
I just want to walk around the ships. To hang out in the engine room and hear the beautiful hum of the grand machine. To marvel at the vastness of stars from the bridge. To open the cargo doors and get boots out on dirt untouched by any man. To frick a smug tomboyish alien in my quarters. To bask in the glory of human ingenuity. To playfully call the pilot a homosexual for landing us in the wrong spaceport. For the love of God please let someone capable who isn't Bethesda catch my lust for the machines and the frontier I will never reach.
Try a game called Genesis Alpha One. Its pretty fun but I admit its a game you either enjoy or hate. Its a space game though where you can go all over the ship you build yourself.
That game is based, but yes it'll either click and you get addicted, or you'll get frustrated because you don't know how aliens spawn yet. iirc rule of thumb is to have one hallway as your box hallway and just fill it with turrets
Based miserable frustration bro.
It shouldn't be this hard to make a ship RPG. Space or ocean I'll accept either but they just keep fricking it up and I don't understand why no one can deliver.
Atlas almost had something and then turned into pure grift apparently.
Just give me an rpg upgradeable character and an rpg upgradeable ship wtf are you fools doing.
Should I install Black Flag or Rogue and play them? Every time I've tried Blag Flag I've gotten bored in the first couple hours trying to collect the excessive feather collectibles or doing the poorly made copy pasted tailing missions that it's full of.
If you play black flag get the "no blow pipe" mod or whatever its called. My autism was killing me seeing the cool pirate outfit ruined with a shitty stick glued yo your back.
Black flag starts off like shit. But once you actually get to the pirate part it gets fun. Even the standard AC missions becomes fun if you don’t take them too seriously
this game was never supposed to come out. It always was a game in development to raise the value of Ubisoft and be someone else's problem but no one bought the company and the Singapore government checkmated them forcing them to release it so here we are
but it's not out yet
thinking about getting the ubisoft premium subscription to play it and the other assassin's creed slop games though
played the open beta and it was alright
I mostly like it because being a pirate is cool
>thought you played as a ship for most of the time
yeah, the only gameplay is sailing the oceans
but equipping different weapons to sink ships and just grinding for materials seeing what trade routes have ships with the stuff you need is fun for me
[...]
If you say that it's because you've never played Black FLag.
It's too good to be a video game from 11 years ago and still much better.
S&B is bullshit.
How much are you actually a pirate though? thought you played as a ship for most of the time
If you say that it's because you've never played Black FLag.
It's too good to be a video game from 11 years ago and still much better.

We have a fricking moron over here! Just go leave with your strawmen.
AA/AAA/AAAA has nothing to do with quality, it’s determined by expected sales, number of developers, development hours, and budget.
That hasn’t been true for a long time, marketing hasn’t increased in cost much for the top games since the 90’s (e.g. FF7 and Banjo Kazooie had massive marketing budgets), whilst overall budgets have increased dramatically.
never was interested in this but a turbo consoomer coworker was hyping this for weeks and even he noped out when he found out what the price tag on this slop is
It's shit but the most laughable part to me is the whole "gritty pirate" aesthetic despite it being a massive fricking hugbox not only in online terms and their genius idea of holding people accountable for not reporting others in their TOS, but also in terms of the story.
You often get dialogue choices, except they serve zero purpose and are more of a "this is what you say" because they didn't want to give your character a voice, except it's silly because you can't even at least have different opinions in the choices so literally what's the fricking point, just voice the character at that point.
Anyway,
the most laughable part to me when I played beta was during one story quest, where the dude that helped you the whole game, basically invested in you expecting returns gives you a job to deliver guns to "Sea People" (essentially native dark skinned people of the region that aren't specified) but more specifically gather info about why seemingly the conflict is losing its steam.
Except when you ask him why he talks that they and the French have a war going on,
so he supplies both of them with weapons and tries to prolong the conflict as long as he can, because as a supplier it obviously benefits him greatly.
So when he's talking about benefiting from war economy an ominous music is playing and your 2 dialogue choices are moralgay "You're exploiting the Sea People!" and "We can help the Sea People win the war!".
Thank you, Ubisoft.
I sure love being a battle hardened gritty(tm), dangerous(tm), brutal(tm) pirate(tm) by rescuing puppies, giving money to the poor and helping old ladies cross the fricking street.
It's ridiculous when Sea of Thieves with its cartoony family friendly aesthetic has way more edge and tooth than your "adult" video games.
This level of hugbox is just sad at this point, especially when given the subject matter.
That said ubisoft slop is a bit of my guilty pleasure so I'll happily pick it up once it goes for 5$, next month at this rate
Everything you say is true.
S&B gets very boring after a while. I played the beta from the beginning and the only thing that motivated me to continue playing was simply to have a great Ship.
AC: Black Flag presents a better idea of how to be a pirate, I can even say that it handled economics better.
>It's shit but the most laughable part to me is the whole "gritty pirate" aesthetic despite it being a massive fricking hugbox not only in online terms and their genius idea of holding people accountable for not reporting others in their TOS, but also in terms of the story.
My favorite part is how the everyone just wants to play pirates and do pirate things and then the game opens up with trying to justify pirating by them rising up against le evils of capitalism. It amazes me how they had time for shit like this permeating through the entire game, but the actual game after all this time is still just a shadow of what everyone wanted out of it - an exclusively pirate spin-off of Black Flag.
Nah i play Caribbean Legend that is released today from the devs of sea dogs.. They still use the same old engine so it looks like ass but i bet it will be 1000% more fun than ubi shit.
I dunno, they changed the plan. I quess and decided to add new content and quests, re-translate the game, etc. Maybe they think it will sell better instead of just upscaling the textures and releasing the old game with all the DLC, or whatever the plan was for the legendary edition.
Unless they spent that money on letting me create my personal pirate waifu who will crawl out of the screen and succ me dry then it will definitely not be worth the budget
When there are so many games available to be played for free from past giveaways, why do they think that people will pay full price for this when everyone's backlogs are massive.
>people ask for AC: Black Flag with more focus on being a pirate, sailing, plunder, sword play, maybe some spooky sea stuff, and naval combat >they shit this out
It's all so tiresome. They had a perfect blueprint that just needed tweaked.
The entire reason Black gay shanties are kino is because it's usually one dude with a powerful voice and a bunch of people badly singing along, no instruments or anything
I wonder if they realized that they had created a masterpiece, which only needed a little tweaking with a file?
Somehow, unknowingly, the most sterile corporation in the world managed to create the best pirate game ever.
Bruh im a wagie, i barely finished IW and im only now starting P3R which i HOPE to finish before FF7 Rebirth comes out, i have to choose my battles, i can't waste time of service games that will never end.
No. And I love pirate stuff. Black Flag and Sea of Thieves are two of my all time favorites. This game looks bad. Whoever thought making a barebones multiplayer game out of just Black Flag's ship combat with nothing else going on was a moron.
If it was remade several times with a new budget it's false advertisement to call it that
Even fricking AC Odyssey is a better naval game than this
Its a nongamer marketer making up shit
Skull and bones looks like a more boring black flag
If someone gave it to me or if it's on goypass maybe
>Black Flag ship combat, sailing and shanties, boarding system, combat, exploration, literally 90% of the game's mechanics
>just take out the Assassin shit and weapons, add a customizable character, and throw in some more pirate gimmicks
how in the frick was that so hard for Ubisoft that the damn game took this long to come out with such an inflated budget

why the frick does the hair keep looking like shitty pubes in all these new games?

That was Half Life Alyx
I will pirate it for the immersion
I've seen literally zero game play of this game but i know everyone around me and all websites are shitting on it.
What did this game do?
It's really bad. All you do is steer your boat. You can't walk around on it. No combat outside of boats.
>You can't walk around on it.
You're telling me in 11 years they couldn't get feet on the ship?
This is like all the space games. You get person or spaceship and nothing more.
You could walk around and platform between ships mid-combat in AC4

So it's like very space game (E:D, EVE, etc.) but on the sea?
Imagine taking a 11 year old game, stripping it of 90% of its content and advertising it as a AAAA+ game (with microtransactions)
Should I install Black Flag or Rogue and play them? Every time I've tried Blag Flag I've gotten bored in the first couple hours trying to collect the excessive feather collectibles or doing the poorly made copy pasted tailing missions that it's full of.

Their European core developers are still alright. Anno is made from German autism and ubi funding
>A UBISOFT

It's correct in the op
U is U like in Anubis
Cyberpunk had a bigger budget
never was interested in this but a turbo consoomer coworker was hyping this for weeks and even he noped out when he found out what the price tag on this slop is

That's not how anything works. Why would you make a naval game and not cater it to maritime enjoyers?

the Crew being MORE WOMEN THAN MEN no matter what you do is the most hilarious understated woke part of the game.
yeah I am

>Marketing buzzwords that mean nothing (AAAA)
>Lmao sugarman sea shanty guys look!!!!!!!
My desire to buy this game is below negative
Sid meier's pirates still rules the seven seas.
I wish there was a hd remaster of that master piece
gonna light a billion dollars on fire tonight and take the world's first AAAA shit
Nah i play Caribbean Legend that is released today from the devs of sea dogs.. They still use the same old engine so it looks like ass but i bet it will be 1000% more fun than ubi shit.
It even has waifus. Did the previous sea dogs games had them?
>had them?
stinky poo fingers typed this
Just slav. I Learned english from Ganker and youtube.
Only Caribbean Tales had female mc if I remember correctly
Neat, now I don't have to look up how to run one of the games from 2000
What's the difference between Caribbean Legend and Sea Dogs: Legendary Edition?

Hell Yeah Sea of Thieves bros!
We fricking won!
Play the superior pirate game instead of this trash
what the shit is a AAAA game
a triple a game that was mismanaged and costed ridiculous amounts
That's every AAA game
turn it up another notch: now you have quadruple a
For example: Oh it costed 100M? A quadruple A costs 300 M and takes 10 years (looks and plays the same)
>the same
MUCH worse than AAA games in this case, actually
Rule of thumb: if the promotional shit has a celebrity, the game will be shit
Even as a f2p this game would still flop.
Ubisoft is completely moronic.
>DPS
>Rank
Yeah, have fun with that AAAA value zoomies.
>AAAA
>LE EPIC PIRATES THEME
wow, will it last as long as zombies did? Or are we getting a cowboy or ninja refresh any time soon?
Its called AAAA because it was remade 4 times
It’s called AAAA because that’s what you say after you realize what kind of game you’ve payed $60 for.
$70* plus tip
or £75, which is $95
Everything about this game just screams "designed by committee."
wtf does AAA even mean?
Inflated budget.
Unless they spent that money on letting me create my personal pirate waifu who will crawl out of the screen and succ me dry then it will definitely not be worth the budget
When there are so many games available to be played for free from past giveaways, why do they think that people will pay full price for this when everyone's backlogs are massive.

It's all so tiresome. They had a perfect blueprint that just needed tweaked.
>corporate drones aren't human enough to understand human interest and desires
many such cases
There are so many stupid people in this thread, it's embarassing.
Literally looks and feels like a f2p game.
Can you customize your crew at all or are you forced to make half your ship and officers black women
half? its more than half.
its so laughably ahistorical and nonsensical that I just couldn't do anything but laugh when I saw it.
eventually we'll reach enough historical revisonism in all media and taught history, that Zoomers/Gen Alpha will believe it completely.
Can't have anything anymore. Women would never work on a ship today much less then but we have to pretend like they pull their weight.
I'm a pretty in shape guy and I know for a fact I wouldn't last on a pirate crew, let alone a fricking 16th century female.
the idea of a majority female pirate crew is so hilarious that I just dream and wish I could ask them a few questions about the logistics of that.
LOL, they tried using that sea shanty that was popular a while ago
>up to 3 player co-op
this is a selling point?
The entire reason Black gay shanties are kino is because it's usually one dude with a powerful voice and a bunch of people badly singing along, no instruments or anything
