You are sentenced to three years in solitary confinement and can only bring one rpg and platform of your choice with you. What do you bring? You won't have internet, so no online games.
I'd probably bring Persona 4. I feel like it has enough content to last me three years.

Definitely one of the bigger roguelikes. Maybe ADOM or DCSS or perhaps Elona OOMSESTNC. Nothing else has the staying power for 3 years.
Have to agree with this, three years is a long time and you need something with enough variation, roguelikes are your best bet
A Disgaea or an XCOM or Dwarf Fortress or EU4.
I put several thousand into Disgaea 2.
I'd put another ten in if I could.
>RPG
>mentions XCOM, CK2 and EU4
Fricking morons
Of course req threads attract posts like these. The OP might as well be "what games should I play if I'm a moron"
At least I gave a legitimate answer to it in Disgaea. Still, you can't deny EU4 is one of the best choices matter RPGs out there, and it lets you play as the villain in a satisfying manner.
CK2 has more role playing than most things you'd mistakenly call an rpg.
No it doesn't, it has little events that repeat over and over.
more of an rpg than fricking jarpigger diarrhea like persona
They actually legitimately aren't.
heavily modded ck2
>bring PC
>bring some edutainment game that teaches programming
>use programming to make my own games
Based indie dev making vidya in the state lockup.
Imagine the possibilities for a dystopia if prison operated like paid labour where the company owns anything you create on their time.
>pour your heart and soul creating an amazing game over 3 years
>can revolutionise the game industry
>because you used a computer owned by the state/private company that work belongs to them
They either choose not to release your masterpiece or profit from it. Any attempt to breach your contract lands you back in jail, ready to develop more games for them. Gives a new meaning to the term prison labour.
Congrats you realized prison is better than not being in it.
Maybe Wrath of the Righteous because it's a very long game that has a lot of replay value due to the different paths. Three years is a long time though and it still wouldn't be enough.
Skyrim, xbox, getting comfy
No i'd rather kill myself than do that. It's barely tolerable with full access to the internet as it is.
Oblivion/skyrim on pc with coomer mods.
Neverwinter Nights 1. download all the lewd modules and boob enhancements. finally get about beating A Dance With Rogues 1 and 2.
It has to be FF12 Zodiac edition. Good graphics, I can blow a few loads to Penelo and the bunny for the first year I'm sure. The biggest reason is that it takes a good 300hrs to 100% the game, and I could do it with every class combo and then do it with different characters. Plenty of different challenges to grind since the LP system technically lets you grind max LP in the first zone. Endgame content is king in this challenge.
>300hrs to 100%
You are doing something very wrong.
Sleep.
I don't think people realize how long 3 years is.
Well if you keep your playtime at 2 hours a day, you only end up playing the game for about 1/4 years of hours, so barely enough to get bored of it
what are you gonna do for your remaining 14 hours of being awake in solitary confinement per day?
Wait for TES 6
blood arts
sleep
jerk off
Imagine the smell in that solitary confinement.
jerk off to which RPG babes is what he asked?
work out
>2190 hours of one single game for 3 years
>barely enough to get bored of it
lol
Nah, I think I'm well aware of how long 3 years is. I suffered a somewhat traumatic event/grief in 2005 and as a result I shut myself away from society for around 6 years. I had no job, I didn't study, I cut myself off from every single friend I had. I almost never had to leave my house in any capacity, my appoints with my GP moved to telephone and my prescriptions were picked up & delivered.
I played Disgaea 2 as a main game from its release in 2006 to 2008 until Disgaea 3 released. I was backing up to three memory cards, I bought a PS3 in '07 and I continued playing it there, I even had the memory card adapter.
I should have stopped playing Disgaea 2 in 2008 on Disgaea 3's release but I bounced off of it after <2 weeks and went back to Disgaea 2 and I continued playing the PS2 copy until it released again for PSP in 2010.
I used grinding, class building, routes, felonies and the item world to deal with loss and I was terrified of it. I'd sit down and play the game for hours at a time, I'd play new releases as they'd come out but D2 was my main game. I would boot it up and play for 5, 6, 10 hours at a time. When I wasn't playing the game I'd read on an PRS-500 followed by a cybook gen 3, meditate and work on art.
I continued playing Disgaea 2 on PS3 through to 2011 when Disgaea 4 came out and slowly I split focus between the two.
I eventually got some help reintegrating into society and when I resurfaced after those 6 years and I found out that people had thought I had died and I started working at the government.
I'm am 100% sure that if I go to prison and they say hey you you get 1 game 1 console that it would most certainly be Disgaea 2, so long as I had 2 functioning memory cards. My 2nd choice would be Final Fantasy XI.
I feel no shame in saying that I could probably monogame them again for 6 years. The only thing that stands in my way is mortality.
I own Disgaea 2 on PC but I do not launch it.
>1 hour of calisthenics 2x a day
sleep 10 hours
>1 hour meditation 2x a day
>1 hour for eating, shitting etc
damn that still leaves 9 hours for playing an RPG, would have to be a roguelite then...
I'm guessing I couldn't "play" RPG maker MZ" with only GIMP installed, no other applications and no internet access? If I can't bring a PC then just tetris for the absurdity of the situation.
homm3. will finish all campaigns again. play skirmish maps either against computer, or hot seat with prison guards. Make my own scenarios. It's the best game of all time for a reason
its not an rpg
Morrowind, PC. Then I have a PC, useful even without internet access.
he's right, you know.
I'll give you Morrowind on Xbox. Not a modded xbox, no DVD remote.
Modded Skyrim, maybe minecraft
Rance quest, i guess.
Can I play SWG in "offline mode" for 3 years? I wonder if that's enough time to unlock a Jedi character
dark souls trilogy, if only one then morrowind
maybe crystal project, built in randomizer
ADOM
Diablo 2
>inb4 le not an rpg
Has abstracted number based combat.
Disgaea 2 PC version.
Probably Arcanum because I tried ot and after 10 hours I still saw jack shit, I suspect it's a long game and has a lot of content to uncover.
I wish it was modded though so that the overworld would be smaller, more diversified (it's all flat terrain) but you would actually travel it on foot rather than through map. + options to set up camp.
World of Warcraft
It get very boring and repetitive after 5 playthroughs
>It get very boring and repetitive after 5 playthroughs
What game doesn't? (not counting games that never end or games with randomly generated worlds)
>It get repetitive when repeated
Very thoughtful criticism
Reddit level reply. The topic is whether the game would be good to play over and over so it’s ability to be played over and over is obviously the question at hand
>WoW
>can't read
yep, that checks out
he probably means an offline private server set up for singleplayer, yes, crazy people do this.
fallout 2 probably. maybe new vegas with the jsawyer patch
I would pick an ARPG with a big speedrunning community like Dark Souls and then I would just try to break the world record.
KSP - Conduct missions in realtime
Stardew Valley.
is minecraft an rpg?
if so, computer and minecraft
computer regardless, because I would still have music and writing and some other stuff
if not minecraft then underrail because its just the best
If a game comes in multiple parts that form one larger game, am I allowed to bring that?
