You aren't a true gamer if you never owned one of these.

If you never played 'arcade perfect' quality games growing up back then....you are basically just a fake pretender. This is all about what gaming is. Having the Neo Geo consoles and playing the best arcade titles of all time in their 'perfect' style, visually, audio-wise and gameplay. There was no excuses not to have these systems back then. Because that's all I ever hear is excuses.

    my box looks different
and it's in way more fricked up condition

I enjoyed plenty of Neogeo shit back in 2005 with my friends on the wii eshop
    pizza parlors before that
    also arcades in the mall
there is still a big red in Disneyland to this day

But i played it in the arcades.

That was the MVS, not the AES.

MVS is the true arcade original. AES is just casual consumer slop for your living room you set up next to your VHS player and stereo. Disgusting and racist.

Technically they're the same thing except the arcade original had a card to save your progress that would also interact with the AES, so in a sense we're almost both correct.

          >Disgusting and racist.
Funny side note, no one had an AES and the promise among us was that if we ever found someone who did, we were going to beat them up. The 80s and early 90s were weird, but fun.

          the aes is more "hardcore"
you can't just feed it billions of credits and cheese the games
you have to actually have skill to beat some of them
          limited continues brother
also what's kind of nice is some of the character selection screens are no longer timed so you can actually enjoy looking at the sprites and listening to the rockin tunes

            >you can't just feed it billions of credits and cheese the games

            memory card invalidates this argument

            I'm with you 100%.

            *nods*

This reminds me of how the Genesis had even better soundtracks to many arcade hits, like Midnight Resistance, or Mercs.

Are you sure you want to confirm you were not alive then? Anyway, Mercs alone is a great example because the music is improved 500%. Go check. The arcade soundtrack doesn't hold a candle to the Genesis.

MVS is more hard-core in it's intended arcade setting. You have to put your actual money on the line, you aint credit feeding in a setting where the arcade operator wants your sheckles. As a kid, you may be lucky to get three credits, usually less then the minimum/max AES versions offered. Near the end? Think you can make it this time? You putting that last quarter on the line? It's like skill based gambling.

Where is a good place to buy an MVS? Is the MV-1C worth the hype or should I get the cheaper 1B? Also what is a good super gun for composite and component?

                Anonymous

there is no magic way to get compositeypbpr
the guns usually output rgb and the signal must be converted
the "cheapest" way is hyperkins genesis>hdmi adapter ($30)
the next best "budget" way is a retrotink2xpro

if you are serious about composite
ebay @ wakavideo sells rgb>s-video adapters for 50$

both the 1b and 1c are both fragile and will require your adult-usecare to keep them going long term

i store mine in anti-static bubble wrap and usps mailers when not in use

very few people ever owned one as they were rented out and now difficult to find. stop larping, zoomy. you will never ever be an oldgay.

i doubt there is hardly anyone here who owned one when they were now. you had to either be a spoiled rich kid or been a working adult back then, which would put you in your 50s or 60s at this point

You are correct in my case. I just turned 50. Was working. Bought the system with Fatal Fury 2. Saved money like a mother fricker to get it. "Oh there's a Fatal Fury Special coming? Oh shit, they're making KOF 94? Got any over time?" Most I ever spent on a Neo AES game was $350 for KOF 96 direct from SNK US. New, a month into its arcade release. When KOF 98 released, had gotten into a shit ass job and could save money or anything.

The only kid in my class who owned one was a pervert. He wasn't a homo, but would make homosexual jokes. Make of it what you will.

OP also borders on sunk cost cope, if not an outright "superiority troll."
