What was the deal with the 2000s and edgy sequels?

It was the "pop cult" of the time. Everything art-wise was a controlled rebellion against neatfreak Corpo-gays that wanted you to wear suits and get a haircut.

That's why you saw so much sex appeal, gore, edge, and disrepect from the 2000s. There was a lot of hate for where society was going and the world looked like it was going into the shitter.

The era continued into the brown and bloom age where the edginess got toned down and less sex appeal and it was more focused on heterosexual modern military wanking.

        >That poster
This is how quake was meant to be played. I will add as a detail that this room should be located in a trance club (as a abandoned storage room or something) so deafening psytrance music could be heard all the time and also there is another 2 computers and a server at the other side of the room, that is being used for hacking shit and uploading illegal porn and movies on pirate bay 24/7 and closing drug deals on the silk road

They wanted to go in a different way and succeeded at it. WW shows a Prince that went through a lot and was hounded by the Dahaka for years hence why he turns butthole-ish. Then TTT drops and he regains some of his charm and snark from SoT now that he doesn't have some giant tentacle guy who speaks backwards chasing him 24h a day.

Why does WW emulate like shit on every platform, but SoT and TTT work fine?

The game's buggy as shit so who knows? I had to get a hz 50PAL iso for a stable fps. It's optimised 50 so it feels better than the Yakuza games back in the day but it's a shame

Why would you emulate a game that has a PC port already?

the pc port fricking sucks. frequent crashing, missing effects, a bunch of bugs that are way more common on pc than console.

                The crashing not so much.

Some of this is true, but the edge-shit was corporate-curated. The actual reason WW was an edgefest was that SoT sold way lower than expected, which they put down to not following the edge trend as it was emerging. I wish they'd just gone with their gut and given the sequel a similar tone to SoT

*way slower i should have said. it eventually got to a decent number but they jumped the gun after seeing the launch sales
