I have been playing League of Legends for 10 years and let me tell you, Dota is the better game, it's just also a different game. League players would switch in an instant if they could, but they can't, and Dota would have to sacrifice what makes it Dota in order to cater to league morons.
MOBAs are fundamentally flawed. There's just too much complexity and knowledge required for a 5-player team game. There's so many factors at play that it's hard to tell why exactly you won or lost, which is frustrating and exhausting.
With 1v1s you have no one to blame but yourself. You know what all the factors are.

True random is a cesspit, algorithmic matchmaking is just worse because deliberately fricking it up to boost engagement and encourage mtx is prioritized.
Dedicated servers hosted by the community and accessed via server browser are the only realistic way to foster an online community that doesn't prioritize parasocial relationships with eprostitutes over cooperating with the people you play with.
I've been yelling that for a decade now, it won't change. Also I have to concede it's not really feasible for mobas, since you need 10 players to join at the same time, without drop in/out functionality

There optimal number of players for every genre. Generally it's one per character. Make more and you will get reduction of performance.
For example: make shooter (cs for example game) were team of five controls one character: 1 guy is aiming, 2 pressing fire, 3 is walking, 4 buy/switch guns, 5 is commanding them. It would be disaster. Such team would loose everytime to 1 player controlling 1 character.
General rule: max performance = 1 player controls 1 character.
