The Salarians were right the krogan are dangerous and the genophage is only bad because krogan are stupid and kill eachother too much. Curing the genophage just leads to another council vs krogan war so I didn’t cure it suck it wrex
The genophage is bad because it causes stillbirths instead of limiting the number of eggs produced. It was created as a weapon of terror and demoralization, not a medical tool, which means it violated its stated purpose and had to be undone.
Under Wrex, the krogan are hailed as true heroes and would be willing to entertain honest talks about how to begin curtailing their own birthrate without outside interference.

The whole "stillbirths" thing is such a weenie cop-out done in an effort to make the genophage worse than it was originally described. Prior to that it wasn't even really a debate because the Krogan's critical problem was cultural more than anything else.
Still wouldn't cure it though. Wrex isn't immortal, and even a massive paradigm shift for the Krogan wouldn't change the fact they breed a hundred times faster than every other race in the galaxy.
The correct answer would be curing the genophage but then forcibly blockading the species back onto their home planet with no access to FTL travel until they re-invent it themselves, but that's not an option. They'd probably prefer it that way too.
