Back when I first played, the nether was basically a little fun secret/easter egg that you could go to after getting diamonds, just because it was cool. This was before version 1, so there was nothing in the nether besides pigmen and lava, and there was barely a reason to go there either. Everyone still knew about it though, because we could all use the internet and use in-game chat. Are they ever going to add the sky dimension into the game either?
The achievement system tells you about them
They added ruined half built portals around the world showing you how to make them
I think it was actually confirmed that they did that because of
The ruined portals aren't that common but I think world gen is coded to always put one near spawn.
get a friend to play it with you, it makes the game 10 times better, specially if you're both new at the game and don't know wtf to do.
When I was in highschool one dude kept playing on our server all night, and the next day he came and told us all shocked he had found fricking PUMPKINS. if you dont have friends just get into that server that gets shilled on MC threads
Played it with friends when it came out, played it with my brother later when it became popular, tried to play it recently with my son. Having others running arouns doing menial tasks in the same game does not make it fun to me.
I played back in 2010 or something and just tried loading up the game again. It just feels like it's hollow or something. I want to get into some building autism but I just felt like I'd have more fun with the world in Terraria.

Minecraft is for manchildren, play terraria instead.
ironic
>minechads literally live rent free in terrariggers's head despite the games being night and day
based?
>terrariggers
how do you pronounce that

Is there even anything ingame that hints to it?

ruined nether portals scattered around the overworld

They added "ruined portal" structures to the game a while back.

Can't remember. I remember trying to build a herobrine shrine thing to see if it worked.
I have never played Minecraft enough to even find a diamond, I understand its appeal but I can't enjoy it.
