If she'd let me yes, but I doubt she's interested in some homosexual from Ganker
If I have to give HR a compliment, I think making it seem impossible to save Malik was a good design choice. I like that the original DX had that choice but it's easy as frick to stumble upon the choice to save Jock by accident, it takes like zero brainpower.
ah i still haven't played the DLCs but heard they're pretty good, good thing is apparently the guy who did the DLCs should be writer for the story of the new DX game.

you hating the entire front of mankind divided being "AUG LIVES MATTER" is proof that are you as sheep as the people swayed and mindwarped by this kind of anti-occupy wall street propaganda
When I was born my parents chose my name specifically because it was uncommon for kids and only old men were called that, then I ended up having like 5 kids in every church and school class with the same name as me. Don't forget that DX:HR takes place in the future and names are cyclical.
>Not only did I save her, I did it without killing anyone
Absolutely fricking based, and same. I tranq'd all the human soldiers and EMP'd the robots. It was the hardest fight in the game but once I pulled it off and she thanked me, it felt amazing.
Not only did I save her, I did it without killing anyone. Just tranq gunned and stun pistoled my way through.
Same, I finished a nonlethal run (on Give Me Deus Ex diff) a few days ago. Still didn't get Pacifist because the fricking intro when you can't takedown and only have a combat rifle fricking counts.
Likewise. Emp grenades saved specifically for the big bastards, gas for some of the others and zapping everything else I could. Took me like 40+ tries cause I was on hard and nonlethal complete run. Always kept a dope ass upgraded assault rifle for boss fights. The biggest pain was wondering if you fricked your run when KOing someone made them appear deceased.
>Adam smiling
I think that's one of the only two or three instances in which we see Adam smiling in the game.
The second one is in the Pritchard's DLC when Adam is watching a game of baseball and is in a good spirit just before the call interrupts the game at the worst possible moment.
>Paul in DX
First time I played original DX I "saved" Paul by killing all mib in the hotel, got the infolink message confirming Paul is safe. And then I went through the back window because it was a little closer to the helicopter.
The script is stupid the only thing that matters is whether you exit through front door in which case paul is always saved even if all mib inside are alive or back window in which case paul always dies.
Why do original Deus Ex 1 boomers hate Human Revolution so much? I thought Human Revolution was fantastic. Is it really boomers unable to cope with newer things being good as well?
I feel like the only people who have this stance are posers, the new games did a good job of modernizing the games while maintaining enough player agency to still be creative
It's mostly people who never played DE1 that shit on HR and claim it wasn't as good.
It's always an E-celeb making a shitty video with the worst takes you can imagine anon.
Never less, never more.
Don't mind them for they're all posers who have fricked up synapses in their brain that make them percieve the E-celeb's voice as that of a friend.

and
I feel like the only people who have this stance are posers, the new games did a good job of modernizing the games while maintaining enough player agency to still be creative
said, but I think there's one good reason why some anons might not like Adam's games as much as the DX.
>broken narrative
Unlike DX, the underlying narrative of HM (and thus partially in MD through it being a sequel) is fundamentally broken when you really think about it.
The conflict and division between pro and anti augmentation crowd is artificial. In Adam's world, augmentations would not be this large social issue the game tries to portrait it to be.
Think about it.
To become augmented, you need >to be at least middle to upper middle class to afford them >to be able to afford their continuous maintenance and replacement parts >to continuously take anti-rejection drugs which is produced by one company and the drug is not cheap >to be fine with possibly suffering some degree of discrimination, fear etc. from some people
Combine all of that and there's no way augmentations would become all the rage.
Also, look what augmentations give you >super strength/speed/durability >HUD elements >better hacking >invisibility >combat capabilities >sharp blades in respective body parts >very questionable social augmentation (it's questionable because the game's portrayal is ambiguous)
So >95% would not need augmentations or care for them.
Existing augmentations in Adam's world would be of interest only/mainly to military, defense contractors, special forces, and private security.
>less focus on actual real world
DX is amazing in how it blends some real world issues (consolidation, terrorism, banks, taxes, the role of God, countless quotes of real books etc.) and goes somewhere with it.
HM/MD does that in some capacity, but predictions of our future and references to real world issues are sparse and usually only in easily missable booklets. Adam's game simply do not try to make the player THINK as much as DX did.
>So >95% would not need augmentations or care for them.
There's a side quest where it's mentioned that brain augmentations are a practically a requirement to stay competitive for certain jobs, the ones you listed are just the ones you get.
Make them a status symbol like expensive shoes and you'd get ghetto homosexuals augmenting for literally no other reason in real life.
Also, game-wise, augmentations are getting a massive media push because companies are looking into requiring them for work. >Also, look what augmentations give you
That's what Adam's augmentations give him, and adam is chock-full of unique experimental military augs for reasons they tell you in the game.
There's literal work augs and discrete visual augs like the one malik has, and brain augs like
>So >95% would not need augmentations or care for them.
There's a side quest where it's mentioned that brain augmentations are a practically a requirement to stay competitive for certain jobs, the ones you listed are just the ones you get.
mentioned. >less focus on actual real world
You got me, you need to actually pay attention to the shit around you to realize all this this, my bad. Maybe they can remaster the game and have pritchard scream this stuff at you in a dead tone and at 200 decibels over the comms link so you don't have to talk to people and pay attention to why riots and stuff are going on in the streets.
>>Make them a status symbol like expensive shoes and you'd get ghetto homosexuals augmenting for literally no other reason in real life
there's a difference between buying expensive shoes or an iphone, and getting into lifelong debts for augments. i dont doubt some people would do that, but it wouldnt be that many people
i think it wouldve made more sense HR portrayed it as the hot new trend, and that the lower to lower-middle class think its a bit tasteless and stupid. middle classes might get some basic ones for disabilities and middle-upper to upper classes would've been the ones to get them for no good reason, cause it's trendy or to give em a slight edge in certain things (like how sarif got his mechanical arm just to be a better baseball pitcher). then leaks would've gotten out about the possible military applications and only then would people start to raise a stink about it, culminating in the detroit riots and eventually the incident with hugh darrow. then in MD they could portray the middle-upper augs as having gone into debt, being poor/homeless/down on their luck and being mocked by and treated like shit by the lower/lower-middle classes for being rich idiots and potentially. then the 1% could be embarrassed about their augmentations, maybe maybe there's a black market for people who want to detransition like replacement hands/legs or realistic augmentation skins while the illuminati pump out propaganda to make augmentation owners look like violent buttholes and a lot of people buying into it, some because of the incident and some because they already disliked augs anyway.
this is all just fankwank i came up with in a few minutes but i think its a lot more relevant to real life as well as tying in better with the class issues, and how they're related to power, as portrayed in the original dx. as it stands now hr and md do play with some of these themes, but they're so heavily in the background they might as well not even be there
>i think it wouldve made more sense HR portrayed it as the hot new trend, and that the lower to lower-middle class think its a bit tasteless and stupid. middle classes might get some basic ones for disabilities and middle-upper to upper classes would've been the ones to get them for no good reason, cause it's trendy or to give em a slight edge in certain things
didn't this kind of happen though?
>Adam's game simply do not try to make the player THINK as much as DX did.
I would say thats not exactly true its just that alot of the stuff is in the e-books or emails and notes, including the whole ''racism'' allegory that people shit on MD is actually in-game psy-op that is easily missable.
At that point, the writing really needs an overhaul.
>i think it wouldve made more sense HR portrayed it as the hot new trend, and that the lower to lower-middle class think its a bit tasteless and stupid. middle classes might get some basic ones for disabilities and middle-upper to upper classes would've been the ones to get them for no good reason, cause it's trendy or to give em a slight edge in certain things
didn't this kind of happen though?
Kind of. Its portrayal is a bit lacking really. There was that one sidequest in Hengsha where a woman was going into debt because she needed some brain augment to stay competitive in her field, and that was a decent sidequest but the game needed to portray more of it.
That little character detail about Sarif only getting his mechanical arm to get an edge in baseball games, for example, is great, but it's never really brought up in conversation. It was revealed in one of the DC commentaries or something.
You *can* kind of extrapolate that this kinda shit happens, and it's very possible the game does more interesting things with the subject in some notepad or email I missed, but like I said, it would've been better if the game had shown these things to the player.
actually if you take in the atmosphere and listen to the npcs around the hubs you do get pretty interesting information and the portayal that isn't just the reading stuff.
There is, I know that, but this really isn't the best way to explore your game's central theme. I'll give HR props for having likable and consistent characters and having *any theme at all*, which puts it above most AAA games last decade, but I wish it was more possible to have an actual conversation with the game.
Mind you I'm not asking for much, but having some more sidequests that explored how different people think about augmentations would've been nice. Maybe there could've been a sidequest about some rich asshat in his 20s who wants to get an augmentation cause all his friends got one, but his parents don't want to finance it, so he's asking you to find a guy who can give him a loan. You could let him do it, you could talk to his parents, you could give him the address of a shady loan shark, give him the address of a reputable bank manager, yada yada.
Compare this to how DX manages its themes of conspiracy theories, classism and power: the first conversation you have with Leo Gold is great. The NSF seem like a bunch of bloodthirsty terrorists at first, and then you meet their leader and he surrenders and then talks about real facts regarding employees and taxes, and these facts are what he bases his philosophy on and what he uses as a base to conspire about what the government is doing. That's a great way to set up your game's themes.

>I need Adam's coat irl.
Don't even try it. Unless you look like gigachad, it's gonna be shit.
Again, this is literally how corporations are doing it they're just more up front when they say "they used to use addiction and now they use augmentation" because the Americans in the audience would get upset if being enslaved with sign on bonuses and NuPoz was directly compared to their shit tier health insurance system.
.cont
Forgot two points.
To become augmented, you need >be fine with cutting off your respective body part or gouging out your eyes
Not many people would be fine with it.
And that besides military and other such groups, augmentations in civilian life in Adam's world would be predominantly used by physically/mentally handicapped individuals, war veterans and people like that.
Again, the underlying narrative and conflict around augmentations in Adam's games makes no sense.
>So >95% would not need augmentations or care for them.
There's a side quest where it's mentioned that brain augmentations are a practically a requirement to stay competitive for certain jobs, the ones you listed are just the ones you get.
I know what quest you mean and that's utter bullshit. You're talking about that sales woman or whatever in Hengsha.
Adam can straight up ask her why she can not do her job without the augmentations and she sidesteps the question by bullshiting that she NEEDS them despite working with people.
So the only augmentation worthwhile to her is the social aug.
There are hundreds of thousands people's persons and silver-tongue individuals capable of getting what they want from you or selling you things without needing any augs.
And again, to be augmented you need to be able to afford them, afford their maintenance, and pay for anti-rejections drugs. In Adam's world an overwhelming amount of people would NOT be augmented.
That b***h definitely is not working so high up that she needs that extra bonus benefit of from the social aug. It's an nonsense quest. Period.
But let's say she REALLY needs it and many people in her business are augmented.
Okay, that still leaves >90% with no need for augs.
>there are so many people who can do stuff without an immediate crushing advantage! So people wouldn't need them! Nevermind that companies are pushing for that and offer aug subsidies and shit that once they fire you like the other million factory workers with augmented arms for that sweet 50% increase in production leaves you rotting in the street with rejective tissue on the rejective tissue
but she said she needs it because others come from rich already well known families and she is from poor unknown one so it would give her a chance atleast.
As I said, let's assume she really needs it because she's interacting with clients where it's necessary. Even if she needed the aug and people in her industry needed it really badly to stay competitive, which is a big IF, that wouldn't even make a dent to the entire job market as her situation is not that of a common individual.
Augs as they are portrayed would be irrelevant for an overwhelming majority of the job market because people and employers wouldn't get major benefit from investing money and time and suffering the negatives and perpetual maintenance of augs.
Most people simply wouldn't be augmented nor would it be a major issues as it's portrayed in the game.

>arguing that she really really needs them without ever giving us an actual reasons to need them besides arguing the competition is fierce somehow makes the augs mandatory

Look at this fricking idiot who didn't play the game thinking he's smart in his ignorance
>Companies pay for their employees augments and NuPoz because it's the ultimate extension of the American Health Insurance co-pay scam >the leading manufacturer of augmentations produces cheap knock off augs that allow them to do this because it's an Illuminati plot
Also, bringing up Jensen's milspec augs like they're the only ones around like a fricking moron. Of course Sarif gave his security chief and ex-SWAT Captain all the fricking toys he'd need to track down his missing scientists. You dunce.
It's not even that they just gave Adam regular military augs.
Adam has unique experimental versions of every fricking aug toy they could cram into him, to the point where they built an actual experimental explosive turret into him (the typhoon)
And there's shit inside him that is still not active at the time of HR that starts working by MD.
And EVEN then adam's augs are mentioned to look fricking discrete for what they are.
pay for their employees augments and NuPoz because it's the ultimate extension of the American Health Insurance co-pay scam
You really think Wallmart would pay for thousands of surgeries to augment their employees?
What for? What augments would they require for the corporate to invest a shit ton of money?
What about Amazon? Maybe people in the warehouses?
What for? Amazon is trying to AUTOMATE as much as possible. They don't want to pay MORE for their employees when they can replace them.
Using sweeping generalizations like "You need the augs to be competitive" or "The corporations would pay for them because they want their employees to be more productive" is NONSENSE because in most current jobs you don't need any augs or they would add very little.
The pic rel list the most common job in US.
Do tell me how and why would they require augs to the point they would be widespread.
I don't care about what nonsense the game says. I'm looking at it from real world's perspective. The narrative and the conflict simply doesn't work with augmentations we were shows or told about in the game(s).
That list is fricking bullshit, but either way, just because cashiers and office clerks don't need augs doesn't mean laborers and factory workers (which are one of the most common jobs in the entire world and whoop de doo your stupid list simply ignores) or maintenance technicians or whatever wouldn't be basically forced into the shittiest tai yong augs for a massive increase in production. That shit is relatively cheap as frick by the time of deus ex, neuropozyne is what is actually expensive to the common individual and that is actually a conspiracy to keep people on a leash play the fricking game gay.

Good of you to ignore facts. >which are one of the most common jobs in the entire world
I guarantee you, even in HR, most of the world is not augmented nor would be augmented any time soon.
Also, we have mechs and pretty advanced robots (see the Riot Policy Robot). Why the frick would companions pay to augment people which has many drawbacks and ongoing costs rather than opt for automation and replacement of individuals?
The game literally sidesteps the reality and pretends augs would be the BIG BAD for the people and job market, when continuously expanding automation (and AI) is the actual issue for the job market which will take away people's jobs.
This is a hard fact and this fact was already easily predictable when HR was being developed/written.
Let me ask you, let's say we get the exact same aug tech with its drawbacks in our reality as we in Adam's games. Do you actually believe we would see similar situation as what we in the games?
If you say yes, then you're a moron and any further conversation with you is pointless.

There's lots of working class and military people in the nu-games who got their augs via work and are stuck with the NuPoz addiction. So it's not 100% voluntary and for richgays. (also kinda mirrors the PTSD and opiate crisis IRL)
>The conflict and division between pro and anti augmentation crowd is artificial.
Ok? In DX and IW we see that too, where factions and "conflicts" between them mean nothing and are likewise entirely artificial. But when HR does it, its bad?
thank you for explaining anon, in the end it's all pointless as it will lead to DX1.
also the narrative is also bad, everything is so half assed and they pretend that things are taken cereal with the whole nu-poz dependence even though DX1 never mentions it, they tried to hamfist their own dumb narrative points and then tie-in safeties to make it work for DX1 like adam being the base for why all augments don't need a drug anymore but let's still use that as a pretense to push some dumb chemical addiction sad trope to the player which has zero reason to give a damn since the last example where that was used ended up being extremely stupid (Far Cry2), the aesthetics are great but everything else IS shit, MD follows the same path and i found funny that hey made jensen's boss to be gay but never to be overly flamboyant or in your face, he is professional but once you raid his apartment you get to see that he gets bummed up the bum, they tried to push some apartheid message but it fell flat if you played HR, augs went killcrazy so people segregating them to prevent such thing is technically justified even if people are brutal about it, the looming threat to a random person that survived his aug friend going killcrazy and shedding blood in a instant is very relatable.
i don't know what they'll do for the DX franchise but i hope they find a way to finish jensen's story already, the whole illuminati chasing thing only worked in DX1 because it was never about them, it was about JC's journey to learn and thwart their plans worked because the game never shoved in your face that the illuminati had contingency plans and by that giving you a win they also won too, something MD and HR doesn't seem to get it or doesn't want to.
I did like HR and even MD, it's just that the vibe is... different in those newer games. Almost as if the setting was completely different. Otherwise, still good games.
Human Revolution is a great game, but the original is so much more. More open, bigger, more ways to tackle objectives, many more outcomes for your choices, more combat options (especially melee.) It's one of those games that couldn't have happened under any other conditions. HR is still great, especially after Invisible War left a sour taste in everyone's mouth.
I enjoyed the story and characters, even if everyone sounded bored but those backyard-sized maps causing constant loading and that unified ammo system really killed it. I liked the way it tied up all the endings of the original into one, for a cop-out it was reasonably well done.
>Why do original Deus Ex 1 boomers hate Human Revolution so much
making shit up in the internet I see, I will slit your throat and shit down your neck you dumb Black person
I played HR around the time it was released, I was a kid and I didn't know what the word "cringe" was when I played it. I remember when I was explaining it to my sister who was curious and ask "why do they hate augmented people?" I legit could not figure out why.
In my head I thought I missed something or wasn't paying attention to the plot.
Ross's HR review perfectly described why I didn't like HR when I played. Difference is I never finished it.
But yeah, I didn't like HR and thought it sucked ass
DX1 had options. You could rambo your way through the front door blowing everything up or you could metal gear your way through the back door and crawl through vents. Both were rewarded almost equally. HR more or less forces you into a non-lethal stealth route.
Also DX1 took every wild conspiracy theory that existed back in the day and threw it into the game's story. At least half of it came true and it's not even the 2050s yet.
>HR more or less forces you into a non-lethal stealth
Don't lie you contrarian shitter. HR trivialises lethal compared to DX by letting you stick to any flat surface for cover and giving you a player character that can actually aim a gun. The first NSF guard on Liberty Island has killed infinitely more people trying to play the game like an FPS than the first room of mercs in HR's tutorial.
>sit and aim for 4 years
why did they think that was necessary in DX1? I mean make the reload slow, recoil high, and accuracy statically low for untrained but the aim slowly shit is annoying throughout
I like DX:HR but I hate that lethal and non-lethal options have no real trade-offs except for non-lethal options being strictly superior to lethal ones. The game doesn't give you good reasons to use one option over the other beyond which type of run you want to do this time around. One thing that would help is knocked out enemies actually having a chance to wake up on their own, for instance. I would love if the game was designed in a way that you might be dispatching guards non-lethally but then run into a situation where you could be forced into a tactical decision to kill someone, but as it stands you just have lethal/non-lethal guns and lethal/non-lethal takedowns and you can always freely make the decision to do one or the other and it's always fine. Too much focus on letting the player play the way they want and not enough focus on giving the player a realistic framework within which to make hard decisions. Trying to min/max one playstyle or the other should come with its own challenges.
From the moment I noticed each enemy bullet would affect the helicopter by making more fire or whatever come out, and that at the end of the battle there were certain little scumfrickers shooting in a straight line at it even when everyone else was dead I knew you could save her.
God bless the fricking gas grenades. I ended up quickloading and throwing one at each of the spawn points.
unironically i only found out you can save her in like 3rd playthrough of the game and i found out from some random thread or video i don't remember now.
huge pain in the ass to save her on a non-lethal ghost run but still managed it after a few saves, one of the more obnoxious things is that the big mechs blow up when they take too much damage can I think can theoretically count as a kill.
They don't frick up Pacifist if you EMP them. They still explode but it's "self destruct" so technically it's not "your fault".
Yeah can confirm the big boxguards emp self destruct doesn't count for a kill, I had this happen to me the other day and I still ended up getting the achievement.
I still don't know why tracer tongs prison toilet is glowing.

Ah yes, anime "black".
saying that NPC doesn't look black is moot because you're saying she does in fact look black and we agree.
Look, there are plenty of gorilla Black folk out there in the world but there are also plenty of nice-looking black women who exist with features more often associated with asians and whites in terms of their nose, lips, eye shape, etc. You still don't have to date them or have sex with them (and realistically, you shouldn't), just recognize that not all black people look like you imagine stereotypical black people to look like. Ironically, all the woke SJW types who keep trying to push stereotypical black features into all blacks in media do far more harm to diversity and realism than good.
>all the woke SJW types who keep trying to push stereotypical black features into all blacks in media do far more harm to diversity and realism than good.
Ironic how that's always the case, see WotC censoring the existence of mixed races, or that lady producer who bragged that she made a point of hiring actresses who weren't 'conventionally attractive', i.e. calling them ugly.
I fought, but was too slow. If you run like she tells you to it is a devastating scene though. Fricking art. It's a heartstopping moment that you can only have in a video game, it only works because you the viewer made the decision to abandon her.
I am still thankful for Deus Ex franchise to include my poor corrupted post soviet country to the point that they even made it as the main hub area in MD, DX 1 also said those medbots you use there came from Prague as well so thats cool.
then they're stupid because it does pretty heavily resemble the real world Prague, the devs even went there irl to make it more accurate.
However one thing that kind of sucks is the Czech dub they added in, while i appreciate the work put into it they just sound .. weird and not even Czech, its more like Russian tbh.

You generalize too much, and mere mediocrity still isn't the worst.
The worst, much like the great, is a title too big to toss around so brazenly.
It's unwise to use it, because things can always get worse.

>because things can always get worse
I dunno, I genuinely think AI-written media would be an improvement over most of the slop we're getting these days, honestly.
I hate to be pessimistic but there's little be hopeful about. Maybe the video game market will crash and we will get a renaissance? I can only hope.

Reduction of art to consumerism and hunger is a terrible outlook, regardless whether some item exactly is an actual "slop" as people like to deride it as. It's applicable to political garbage, for instance, but merely mediocre or unimaginative stories aren't that. People are quick to condemn in these times, without understanding why creative process degrades.
You take much for granted, you've grown used to it all.
Regardless, by things becoming worse I wasn't talking about stories, but everything else.
Ultimately, talking about this subject is pointless, as serious discussions in public channels about horrors lower morale and risk increase in evil.

You think that because you're an idiot. It's not the writers. It has never been the writers. It is, always has been and always will be the executives who push for reliable shlock to make no risk profit.
I've been there multiple times and plan to go again this year, and it looked pretty similar to me. Prague in MD is maybe a bit less open (which I'm sure is for design reasons) and it's not as desaturated, but it comes pretty dang close.
What I thought was cool was the metro stations look very similar in real life, they have these weird gold walls with balls on them and they look neat. I'm surprised anyone cared to get that right but they did, and it made me happy.
You just reminded me of the time I thought a girl at a house party had a piercing and asked her about that but it was a wart lol.
wait till you find out that there are tribes in africa that developed blue eyes naturally and their skulls and bodies don't look like congo gorilla Black folk
Are any of those African tribes located in Detroit, homosexual?
>spoiler
kek i didn't even it can happen and only found out like 2nd playthrough when i was messing around before going to the heli and then Sarif calls in all angry of a sudden.
Knowing that the whole affair with the Illuminati won't end well, and that he won't be even mentioned in DX1, Adam leaves to work on his love life instead.
Anti porn filter. Yes.
Jannies not doing enough for free means they had to hire AI.
Just put some small transluscent rectangles over the girls (not even as censors, just randomly) and the AI won't detect the posts.
There is literally nothing comfy about the screenshots you post. Alleyways. Offices, little details they put in the game. That's comfy. Not dead women in toilet cabins.

Pacifist runs are gay. I don't go out of my way to murderhobo my way across the game, but if some homie is ready to open fire, he better be ready to take a nano blade through his thick skull.
I stay pacifist in DX until the MIB and MJ12 commando's show up. I just kill those with the Dragon Tooth because I can't knock em out and they're barely human anyway.
I even just knocked out Manderley, even though they explicitly ask you to off him. I liked his mustache and he reminded me of Cliff from Cheers.
Also, anyone else thought the dlc from HR kind of dragged on too long for one and two, really came in a weird time. You're off to the last stretch of the game and are then waking up in a torture room. Not only that, but when you finish the entire thing, game just goes on like nothing had happened and that you didn't just have a frick huge experience.
Losing all my augs (except the measly 9 praxis you get from the storage room) nearly made me want to ragequit. Thankfully Quinn gives them back at the end of the mission.
I enjoy the DX games, but I never finished any of them.
It’s weird, because they have all the things I like in games, and I really love immersive sims like Dishonored, but somehow no DE game manages to hold me past the quarter way mark. I kind of dropped the OG game at Hong Kong and HR I dropped at Upper Hengsha.
I don’t think there’s even a particular reason I dropped them at those points. It’s just one of those games that I just never went back to. In my defense though, in the case of the OG game, my save file got corrupted and I couldn’t be bothered playing through the game again. I tried to replay the game recently and was actually somewhat filtered by I being way jankier than I remember it being.
>Doubt. CnC Generals is silly, but Chinese like it a plenty.
That's the thing, the actual people rarely give a frick. But it offends white upper-middle class shitlibs.
I liked the comic that shows what happened with the whole SWAT shitshow in Mexico i think?
I really like the dialogue you can have with the fellow ex-swat member that was under your command and got blamed for it at the police station.
>Deus Ex illuminati >make compelling arguments, aren't complete psychopaths ( with some exceptions ) >irl Illuminati >you will eat ze bugs, you will live in a pod and own nothing while worshipping Black folk and you VILL be happy
grim, even our Illuminati fricking suck.
>make compelling arguments, aren't complete psychopaths
All the shit that happened to the world to turn it into a dystopia dumpsterfire in the original DX happened on their watch, they either allowed it to happen or were powerless to prevent any of it. And then they were overthrown by a single man deciding he could do it all better.
The only compelling argument they make is for their own extinction at your hands.
Deus Ex’s Illuminati and our Illuminati are literally the same thing. Their belief system is that the average person is too dumb to govern themselves and doesn’t really know what they actually want, so they have to play god and guide humanity.
The whole “live in pods” thing gets pushed by them because they believe that efficiency= progress. That’s what they want— Progress at any cost, regardless of feeling or morality.
That's not quite what all Illuminati think, at least proper ones, and without some degree of course corrections you'd all be dead already.
Just look at how easy it is to manipulate people into rage here with memes alone.
What they ultimately want is absolute governance and control over each individual’s lives in order to serve their own ends. The whole “You Will Own Nothing” thing was a case of them getting wienery and playing their hand too early before backpedaling when they were met with backlash.
The elites basically want to turn themselves into god and for everyone else to be their serfs. That’s the end goal.
>playing DX >Manderley is talking to the Illuminati >about to leave his office >he shoots me in the back so i defend myself and kill him >later on i read in the email that Manderley is ''missing'' and they can't find him anywhere despite dropping him clearly beside his desk
lol
I really need to go back and finish HR Director's Cut and then MD. Its a pity we're not getting others though as apparently SE has fricked off from supporting the series but maybe that's a good thing. The only thing I didn't care for a lot in HR was that there was SUCH a preference for non-lethal full stealth in terms of XP and everything else. Now don't get me wrong, there are things that were situational that made plenty of sense to leave no trace or whatever, but the "non-lethal takedown or tranq rifle headshot" being the optimal way to defeat any threat that's not a robot, in addition to avoiding any alarms, lethal etc. was a bit over the top. Wasn't a huge issue and while Dishonored was much worse in this respect, it still felt like there was a lot of "we're going to give you a lot of tools , but you're not supposed to use most of them" kind of stuff. Stealth, persusasion etc..was my preferred playstyle but I didn't like feeling like the game would punish me for cutting off some dude's head with my blade if he was really a shit etc Ah well, its been awhile I may not be remembering it all properly.
enbracer owns them
work on a new deus ex is confirmed, early days tho
bear in mind: >we know almost nothing >no idea if it will be adam jensen 3 or a reboot of some kind >the head director and art director left edios after MD >i think they are using unreal rather than dawn engine now, but i dont remember if i'm confusing this with halo ditching slipspace engine
there's hope, not much hope, only a fool's hope, but it's better than nothing
because the old SE ceo forced them to make 2 live service marvelshitters instead of more DX, and they also cut MD in half and added MTX, and they were too cheap to pay for the actor faces lol.
after "racism bad, the game MMMMKAY?!"
not sure i want another DX game.
and i say that having loved dxhr
i never understood the hate for their moronic mechanical apethid thingy, but then again i'm the kind of guy who doesnt react to "press f to pay respects" either, and i cant claim south african history is taught well anywhere outside it.
augument your preorder can frick itself but i was pretty uninterested in hating it
SE cutting the game in half can frick themselves tho
they should have made the sidequests the main quest to shut people up complaining about length
Why can't it be that you are playing as Adam prime, and the rest are clones used by Versalife to create aug rejection immunity for the ruling class? The Dentons were engineered from the ground up augmented. Someone got the DNA to do that from somewhere.
I like it. Maybe it's just due to the writing, but everything about "Adam" in MD feels off, especially in interactions with HR characters. Venom Jensen would at least explain away those inconsistencies
I thought it was scripted at first. played a mission or two after it. realized i was playing an immersive sim. looked it up to see if it was possible, and then went back to a previous save file to save her
similiar to me, i thought its not possible because i didn't grasp yet the concept of immersive sims at the time so i only found out like 2 playthroughs later.
similiar to me, i thought its not possible because i didn't grasp yet the concept of immersive sims at the time so i only found out like 2 playthroughs later.
Isn't it great when you play a game and you enter what seems to be a scripted moment only to try rebelling and the game actually accounts for it
They're probably my favorite moments in the DX games. I love that shit.
One thing I prefer about HR is how genuinely cyberpunk and futuristic is looks. Aesthetically, the game is beyond gorgeous.
DX1 always felt too much like the modern day with the occasional mech walking around. Plus, I prefer the Asian aesthetic to the 80s action movie vibe that the original game had.
the whole point of malik is her being yur friend so that shouldn't really bother.
shame they made her wife material in appearance but prostitute material in everywhere else, double shame you can't be her FWB.
I don't even know who that is, but I like her haircut, and that instantly makes me want to rail her while I have her toes in mouth and a hand squeezing her tit.
Personally, I’m thankful that Hitman was able to escape the clutches of Square’s western division and come back stronger than ever. It’s a shame that Deus Ex wasn’t so lucky.
It could still recover now that Square doesn't have its greedy claws on it anymore. MD's biggest marketing blunder was the multiplayer shit and all the pre-order garbage. If Square wasn't so insistent on milking it, it probably would have done much better.
They sold it to Embracer Group, who almost immediately afterward revealed they were in deep financial shit and shouldn't have been spending and acquiring studios the way they just did
I get that, but just make it so enemies don’t attack you until the animation is complete. The problem with time freezing is that it minimises the risk of detection from takedowns.
Given how many times you'll be taking people down in a playthrough; it would be tedious as frick if you could be detected mid animation
Plus it's not like it's foolproof - if you're seen at the end of it or moving the body it's still GG; plus lethal takedowns alert everyone nearby anyways
I remember that the only balancing was that you had to hold the button prompt down for a second to do a non lethal takedown, in return you got a quieter KO and more exp. dumb.
That direct face would not have translated well, and you know it. The face we could was a combination of that one and the one from the Dawn of the Seeker movie.
reminds me of the time i met Adams VA while playing Arma2 rp. me and some friends were arrested and getting heli'd and over the coms i heard him talking, so i was like "Holy shit, is that elias touphexis(or however the frick you spell it) and he straight up said "i never asked for this". was about 11 years ago and still one of the strangest notable person encounters ive had
im fairly sure it was, i had just watched an interview with the dude and it sounded one to one. plus i dont think many people would know the VAs name outright like that. but who knows, it was a long time ago now
I was invested in a pacifist run before my first slam through a concrete wall that twisted a guy's head off. Being the kool aid man made me go full lethal.
That going pacifist stealth requires more augs than any other play style. Lethal stealth is literally just silenced 10mm headshots for 90% of the game.
>first play through >Get to the bit where the screen starts glitching and you get called in to get it "fixed" >Begin boss fight with the bald guy >no typhoons, no ammo because stealth build, upgrade also fricks you >No way to win not even on the easiest difficulty >Have to restart the entire game
Anyone else?
>ammo all around the room >shoots through walls >boss arena is nothing but walls the boss constantly jumps over
It was put there specifically so idiots could have something to fight with
>playing at release reading the e-mails at Picus >"Wow, this manipulating the news bit seems like nonsense." >played last year for the first time since
Only the dead know freedom from this torment.
The only unrealistic part was Picus owning 90% of global media, otherwise it's pretty obviously based on Rupert Murdoc's right wing propaganda machine.
i guess so, but it's a matter of speedrunner-tier optimization homosexualry where you save 0.6 seconds getting your knife/blade arm ready to stab a b***h
>can be drawn at a moment's notice >can't be stolen and turned on you >can't be confiscated by security >the size of a goddamn broadsword >being part of your arm gives you maximum strength, leverage, and control
There are a lot of advantages, yes.
>trying to do a no kill stealth run for the achievement >get to that Belltower shootout >EMP one of the Robocop ED-E things >it explodes and kills a nearby guard
me too, it isn't fair because it's one of those moments you suspect are scripted. so don't blame yourself.
i reloaded upon googling "can you save malik?" and 2000 results saying yes.
this but for every stealth game in existence
i played dishonored a couple times and still raged and uninstalled because i felt like a b***h for not being a ghost homosexual
>Wayne ends up having a mental breakdown over the order Adam refused to follow when he was SWAT >Adam shows back up in his life and makes him relive it >He gets fired for letting Adam into the morgue >Adam gets him a job with Sarif >He dies on Panchaea
Wayne had a hard life
It's unlikely he got a job in time to be posted to Panchea, if he survived the Incident then he got to watch Sarif Industries go down the shitter and get bought out by TYM
Unless you blackmailed him with his pill addiction, in which case he got Jensen'd after pulling a gun at his apartment
yes
Of course, I wanna *frick* that pilot bad.
Can you?
If she'd let me yes, but I doubt she's interested in some homosexual from Ganker
If I have to give HR a compliment, I think making it seem impossible to save Malik was a good design choice. I like that the original DX had that choice but it's easy as frick to stumble upon the choice to save Jock by accident, it takes like zero brainpower.
shut the frick up, NERD
It can be done without killing anyone but is very difficult to do without being detected.
it's canon that adam no longer has a wiener after his extensive augmentations, so no
wait what lol confirmed where? did miss it in-game?
criminal past dlc
ah i still haven't played the DLCs but heard they're pretty good, good thing is apparently the guy who did the DLCs should be writer for the story of the new DX game.
>the guy who did the DLCs should be writer for the story of the new DX game.
DLC stories are forgettable as frick, i'd prefer if the team that wrote HR came back to finish the story.
well the lead writer for HR got convinced to jump the ship to write for ME4
Black person i said writers, not just one but all of the Black folk that wrote the setting.
finish adam's story and frick off, let other people do better stuff with it but please don't give it to gearbox since embracer does these moronic moves.
don't care idiot
Except in HR he was confirmed only to lose his legs at the knees and he fricks a chick in the comic
blame eidos, not me.
also this adam in comics looks more like adam sandler.
We can rebuild him
>it's canon that adam no longer has a wiener after his extensive augmentations
The devs confirmed that he does
Yes, I like Arab and Persian women. I wish I could save her too...
The only thing I wish I could save is this fricking franchise
I just want some closure to HR/MD
they're working on new DX game but so far it is unknown if its sequel to the Adam prequel games.
after "racism bad, the game MMMMKAY?!"
not sure i want another DX game.
and i say that having loved dxhr
filtered
lmao he doesn't know
he fell for the psy-op
opening that Picus vault is one of the best moments in the series tbh
you hating the entire front of mankind divided being "AUG LIVES MATTER" is proof that are you as sheep as the people swayed and mindwarped by this kind of anti-occupy wall street propaganda
malik is a man's name in the middle east so now I do not appreciate hearing my little brothers name in game as a female's name
calm down khalid
Her full name is Faridah Malik.
>Faridah
top kek sounds even more moronic only 90 year old women are called that
i am calm wtf?
When I was born my parents chose my name specifically because it was uncommon for kids and only old men were called that, then I ended up having like 5 kids in every church and school class with the same name as me. Don't forget that DX:HR takes place in the future and names are cyclical.
Welcome to the club, bookworshipper
She's a lesbian so her having a male name isn't that bad
Not only did I save her, I did it without killing anyone. Just tranq gunned and stun pistoled my way through.
>Not only did I save her, I did it without killing anyone
Absolutely fricking based, and same. I tranq'd all the human soldiers and EMP'd the robots. It was the hardest fight in the game but once I pulled it off and she thanked me, it felt amazing.
Same, I finished a nonlethal run (on Give Me Deus Ex diff) a few days ago. Still didn't get Pacifist because the fricking intro when you can't takedown and only have a combat rifle fricking counts.
Well, do it again.
Nah, when it's time to replay again I'm going lethal. Illuminati pawns need to pay (especially Belltower frick those glowies).
Belltower and Knight Errant are all on my immediate kill list.
And that's saying something considering I even show some gang members mercy.
Frick off, autistic spastic.
No shit it counts, and people told you that it would.
It just doesn't feel right unless you brutally slaughter them all.
Anyone who didn't even try to save her (or Paul in DX for that matter) is an unthinking, soulless NPC.
GMDX fixes it so you have to actually kill the unatco and MiB. Don't know if they fixed the window thing tho.
>paul
>kill everyone
>leave via window
>he's commits suicide off screen
No, I only care about pretty women.
Yes. I ate every energy resource I had to just maintain perfect stealth and KO every motherfricker in that space
need a bad b***h like Malik in my life
Reminds me of the best, baddest, professionally edgiest, master assassin.
Yes, this is actually canon in the Mass Effect universe.
kai leng was the worst thing about me3, even worse than the star child
I knew it, I fricking knew it, you son of a gun!
frick
>he doesn't use the mark's apartment to his purposes
Why do original Deus Ex 1 boomers hate Human Revolution so much? I thought Human Revolution was fantastic. Is it really boomers unable to cope with newer things being good as well?
most DX fans like every game except that one from 2003 I think
I feel like the only people who have this stance are posers, the new games did a good job of modernizing the games while maintaining enough player agency to still be creative
It's mostly people who never played DE1 that shit on HR and claim it wasn't as good.
It's always an E-celeb making a shitty video with the worst takes you can imagine anon.
Never less, never more.
Don't mind them for they're all posers who have fricked up synapses in their brain that make them percieve the E-celeb's voice as that of a friend.
Funny thing is e-celebs don't even shit on Human Revolution.
The only game I hate is Mankind Divided
bomberguy did kind of shit on it then proceeded to fellate DX 1 despite criticizing HR for the same related things.
What
and
said, but I think there's one good reason why some anons might not like Adam's games as much as the DX.
>broken narrative
Unlike DX, the underlying narrative of HM (and thus partially in MD through it being a sequel) is fundamentally broken when you really think about it.
The conflict and division between pro and anti augmentation crowd is artificial. In Adam's world, augmentations would not be this large social issue the game tries to portrait it to be.
Think about it.
To become augmented, you need
>to be at least middle to upper middle class to afford them
>to be able to afford their continuous maintenance and replacement parts
>to continuously take anti-rejection drugs which is produced by one company and the drug is not cheap
>to be fine with possibly suffering some degree of discrimination, fear etc. from some people
Combine all of that and there's no way augmentations would become all the rage.
Also, look what augmentations give you
>super strength/speed/durability
>HUD elements
>better hacking
>invisibility
>combat capabilities
>sharp blades in respective body parts
>very questionable social augmentation (it's questionable because the game's portrayal is ambiguous)
There's literal work augs and discrete visual augs like the one malik has, and brain augs like
mentioned.
>less focus on actual real world
You got me, you need to actually pay attention to the shit around you to realize all this this, my bad. Maybe they can remaster the game and have pritchard scream this stuff at you in a dead tone and at 200 decibels over the comms link so you don't have to talk to people and pay attention to why riots and stuff are going on in the streets.
>>Make them a status symbol like expensive shoes and you'd get ghetto homosexuals augmenting for literally no other reason in real life
there's a difference between buying expensive shoes or an iphone, and getting into lifelong debts for augments. i dont doubt some people would do that, but it wouldnt be that many people
i think it wouldve made more sense HR portrayed it as the hot new trend, and that the lower to lower-middle class think its a bit tasteless and stupid. middle classes might get some basic ones for disabilities and middle-upper to upper classes would've been the ones to get them for no good reason, cause it's trendy or to give em a slight edge in certain things (like how sarif got his mechanical arm just to be a better baseball pitcher). then leaks would've gotten out about the possible military applications and only then would people start to raise a stink about it, culminating in the detroit riots and eventually the incident with hugh darrow. then in MD they could portray the middle-upper augs as having gone into debt, being poor/homeless/down on their luck and being mocked by and treated like shit by the lower/lower-middle classes for being rich idiots and potentially. then the 1% could be embarrassed about their augmentations, maybe maybe there's a black market for people who want to detransition like replacement hands/legs or realistic augmentation skins while the illuminati pump out propaganda to make augmentation owners look like violent buttholes and a lot of people buying into it, some because of the incident and some because they already disliked augs anyway.
this is all just fankwank i came up with in a few minutes but i think its a lot more relevant to real life as well as tying in better with the class issues, and how they're related to power, as portrayed in the original dx. as it stands now hr and md do play with some of these themes, but they're so heavily in the background they might as well not even be there
>and potentially
and potentially dangerous*
proof read your posts, kids, or you might look like an idiot on the internet
>i think it wouldve made more sense HR portrayed it as the hot new trend, and that the lower to lower-middle class think its a bit tasteless and stupid. middle classes might get some basic ones for disabilities and middle-upper to upper classes would've been the ones to get them for no good reason, cause it's trendy or to give em a slight edge in certain things
didn't this kind of happen though?
It did. Anon is ignoring it because their E-celeb friend is even more of a critically un-thinking dumbass and he has to defend his "points".
People get into lifelong debt for useless degrees in education that have no jobs in the market for it, you overestimate peoples cunning
What are examples of other games that filter morons who don't talk to npcs?
I guess more sidequests like that would be cool but atleast we got something at all, though i did recently replay the first DX and was kind of dissapointed that most of the readable stuff you can find are fricking book pages.
I need Adam's coat irl.
>I need Adam's coat irl.
Don't even try it. Unless you look like gigachad, it's gonna be shit.
I know anon
UNATCO path never ever.
You also get the prostitutes in Hengsha who are forced into augs and then kept on the leash with Nuproz
See, that's a neat idea, but we needed much more shit like that.
To become augmented, you need
>be fine with cutting off your respective body part or gouging out your eyes
Not many people would be fine with it.
And that besides military and other such groups, augmentations in civilian life in Adam's world would be predominantly used by physically/mentally handicapped individuals, war veterans and people like that.
Again, the underlying narrative and conflict around augmentations in Adam's games makes no sense.
Actual brainlet take.
but she said she needs it because others come from rich already well known families and she is from poor unknown one so it would give her a chance atleast.
Most people simply wouldn't be augmented nor would it be a major issues as it's portrayed in the game.
>just keeps repeating the same points over and over again hoping that makes them true
When are you going to bring up forklifts again my dude, that was always your big autistic finisher
>arguing that she really really needs them without ever giving us an actual reasons to need them besides arguing the competition is fierce somehow makes the augs mandatory
Concession accepted.
A gentleman does not call his fellows game slop because if differs from his own, calm consideration is so much more effective than hasty condemnation
I concur. Anyone can blame, anyone can be consumed by irrational hate, but it's not good even were it to be warranted in this situation.
Look at this fricking idiot who didn't play the game thinking he's smart in his ignorance
>Companies pay for their employees augments and NuPoz because it's the ultimate extension of the American Health Insurance co-pay scam
>the leading manufacturer of augmentations produces cheap knock off augs that allow them to do this because it's an Illuminati plot
And EVEN then adam's augs are mentioned to look fricking discrete for what they are.
i think the experimental augs in MD where added after he was fished up from the exploded underwater base.
there's a whole theory that MD adam is a illuminati clone with implanted memories. (there's a whole sidequest about implanted memories)
pay for their employees augments and NuPoz because it's the ultimate extension of the American Health Insurance co-pay scam
That shit is relatively cheap as frick by the time of deus ex, neuropozyne is what is actually expensive to the common individual and that is actually a conspiracy to keep people on a leash play the fricking game gay.
>proof read your posts, kids, or you might look like an idiot on the internet
bro you already do.
>That list is fricking bullshit
lol
LMAO
>Good of you to ignore facts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranker
From a fricking voting site?
From a fricking voting site where people vote to choose what are the most common opinions on pop culture, that just happens to have a poll for most common jobs?
From a fricking voting site of which there are dozens of others online that DO mention factory workers and laborers, which again are actually more fairly common jobs?
This is what you pass as "the facts"?
Do you revel in looking like an idiot?
>ignores the point
>pretends cashiers, office clerks, retail etc. aren't the most numerous jobs in the country
Yeah, you're a moron. No more (You)s for you.
There are no more Registered Nurses in the united states than there are factory workers or construction workers.
But feel free to prove me wrong with actual fricking census numbers rather than poll site you absolute fricking double mongoloid mutt.
But when HR does it, its bad?
thank you for explaining anon, in the end it's all pointless as it will lead to DX1.
also the narrative is also bad, everything is so half assed and they pretend that things are taken cereal with the whole nu-poz dependence even though DX1 never mentions it, they tried to hamfist their own dumb narrative points and then tie-in safeties to make it work for DX1 like adam being the base for why all augments don't need a drug anymore but let's still use that as a pretense to push some dumb chemical addiction sad trope to the player which has zero reason to give a damn since the last example where that was used ended up being extremely stupid (Far Cry2), the aesthetics are great but everything else IS shit, MD follows the same path and i found funny that hey made jensen's boss to be gay but never to be overly flamboyant or in your face, he is professional but once you raid his apartment you get to see that he gets bummed up the bum, they tried to push some apartheid message but it fell flat if you played HR, augs went killcrazy so people segregating them to prevent such thing is technically justified even if people are brutal about it, the looming threat to a random person that survived his aug friend going killcrazy and shedding blood in a instant is very relatable.
i don't know what they'll do for the DX franchise but i hope they find a way to finish jensen's story already, the whole illuminati chasing thing only worked in DX1 because it was never about them, it was about JC's journey to learn and thwart their plans worked because the game never shoved in your face that the illuminati had contingency plans and by that giving you a win they also won too, something MD and HR doesn't seem to get it or doesn't want to.
yeah for me the game is a masterpiece personally but i guess some people are simply born to worship ''old good new le bad'' lifestyle.
I like it just fine. It's better in some ways, worse in many others but still one of the best games of last decade.
Though honestly it's not like there's much competition for that title.
I like all DX games, but I lament that JC and Helios chose an inhuman approach to their issue, and that one can't spare Billie in his route.
I did like HR and even MD, it's just that the vibe is... different in those newer games. Almost as if the setting was completely different. Otherwise, still good games.
Both DX 2000 and HR are a product of their time.
Fat pussy.
the thighs are supposed to be fat as well
>[E] Gas
Thankfully Adam has respirator, I think?
Human Revolution is a great game, but the original is so much more. More open, bigger, more ways to tackle objectives, many more outcomes for your choices, more combat options (especially melee.) It's one of those games that couldn't have happened under any other conditions. HR is still great, especially after Invisible War left a sour taste in everyone's mouth.
I liked Invisible War. Got a bit choppy in the penultiate ending, but overall it was fun
I enjoyed the story and characters, even if everyone sounded bored but those backyard-sized maps causing constant loading and that unified ammo system really killed it. I liked the way it tied up all the endings of the original into one, for a cop-out it was reasonably well done.
It shits on over all the lore
If you think about innovation first one is the best, but HR is the best in game itself
>Why do original Deus Ex 1 boomers hate Human Revolution so much

>adam's shitty games
>also good
I played HR around the time it was released, I was a kid and I didn't know what the word "cringe" was when I played it.
Pretty sure that anon is talking about the exp difference.
Really homie? Maybe on realistic difficulty and this was your first FPS ever.
Are you fricking seriously going to argue that aiming a gun and getting headshots was HARDER in DX1 than it was in HR?
>sit and aim for 4 years
why did they think that was necessary in DX1? I mean make the reload slow, recoil high, and accuracy statically low for untrained but the aim slowly shit is annoying throughout
1. It's fan-fiction
2. It's not an immersive sim
3. Prey was a better DX than the official prequels
shittiest post in the thread
Trying to min/max one playstyle or the other should come with its own challenges.
dont you get more exp in HR for non lethal/stealth?
i think they fixed that for MD
yeah you get more exp
Idk I dont play shit games
yes, but she's a dumb bawd anyway
Yes, because I'm not gay.
I'm trans btw
From the moment I noticed each enemy bullet would affect the helicopter by making more fire or whatever come out, and that at the end of the battle there were certain little scumfrickers shooting in a straight line at it even when everyone else was dead I knew you could save her.
God bless the fricking gas grenades. I ended up quickloading and throwing one at each of the spawn points.

unironically i only found out you can save her in like 3rd playthrough of the game and i found out from some random thread or video i don't remember now.
yes, I did save her from the fate of living as an arab
I don't care if they brought her back in a damn hijab, she'd still be my Flygirl
a CUTE
huge pain in the ass to save her on a non-lethal ghost run but still managed it after a few saves, one of the more obnoxious things is that the big mechs blow up when they take too much damage can I think can theoretically count as a kill.
They don't frick up Pacifist if you EMP them. They still explode but it's "self destruct" so technically it's not "your fault".
Yeah can confirm the big boxguards emp self destruct doesn't count for a kill, I had this happen to me the other day and I still ended up getting the achievement.

Yeah let's go through this... No, no, no, Jesus Christ no, no, nope... I'm sorry I think we have a failure to communicate I'm looking for an ATTRACTIVE black woman.
I was being cheeky by implying that white and asian features are inherently more attractive than black features, you fricking brainlet. The point is that there are black women with more white- or asian-looking noses, lips, eyes, etc. You may not personally find them attractive because you're inherently put off by black women but you can at least acknowledge that black women exist who look like

NAME ... ONE ...
Oh my Fricking God. Name one. Just one. ONE.
Goddamn mfw
I showed you 40 famous nigresses who are considered beautiful and have a wide array of facial features. I literally posted a picture of one whose facial features match the example from the game. Any examples I post you're just going to say, "NOT ATTRACTIVE BECAUSE Black person!" and we'll never get anywhere so I don't give a frick about you any more.
>I showed you 40 famous nigresses who are considered beautiful and have a wide array of facial features
And all of them have fricking man-jaws and giant bell-pepper noses. Are you serious? I'm not going to scroll down the list of all 40 to find the one that actually has feminine features.
If you think they all have man-jaws and bell-pepper noses including
then you must also think that
has those things and the whole dispute from
saying that NPC doesn't look black is moot because you're saying she does in fact look black and we agree.
>Go outside
You can't possibly be serious
I didn't think you could the first time I played, fricked with me later finding her body being harvested for augments.
Anytime, fly girl.
clearing the area while remaining pacifist was actually fun
unironically yes. I blew threw so many stun rounds and chewed so many goddamn candy bars for double takedowns
I fought, but was too slow. If you run like she tells you to it is a devastating scene though. Fricking art. It's a heartstopping moment that you can only have in a video game, it only works because you the viewer made the decision to abandon her.
I am still thankful for Deus Ex franchise to include my poor corrupted post soviet country to the point that they even made it as the main hub area in MD, DX 1 also said those medbots you use there came from Prague as well so thats cool.
>my poor corrupted post soviet country
>Czechia
What are Baltic states, Slovakia, Hungary and most of the Balkans then?
Post-apocalyptic societies?
>Post-apocalyptic societies?
>Slovakia,Balkans

I've seen people say that Prague in MD looks nothing like irl Prague, even discounting the newer cyberpunk buildings.
then they're stupid because it does pretty heavily resemble the real world Prague, the devs even went there irl to make it more accurate.
However one thing that kind of sucks is the Czech dub they added in, while i appreciate the work put into it they just sound .. weird and not even Czech, its more like Russian tbh.
the game is set in the future duh

>governments shut down the entire world over a virus that only impacted fatsos, sick and old people and would only give back your freedom if you injected yourself with experimental medical procedures
>everyone just goes along with this because making things better would involve upsetting the status quo
we're already in the cyberpunk future, dude, it's just the worst kind where we don't even got augmentations or flying cars
Shiny trinkets don't constitute nice life, mister, and their absence doesn't make it the worst cyberpunk.
No one is forcing you to go into the tanks and become one with the people just yet, hmmm?
I'm not saying they do but at least they distract you from the empty feeling of a bleak future. What do we have to distract us now, the worst media in the history of mankind? And the buttholes making it are so arrogant they went on strike, as if people would really miss their shallow and emotionally hollow garbage.
Prague was a cool hub, I loved figuring out how to get up onto the balconies and rummage through people's apartments
Yeah, without killing anyone. I'm a special boy.
ohh how nice. another deus ex thread. Have some upskirts!

DXMD's upskirts are very underrated

Not only that, but when you finish the entire thing, game just goes on like nothing had happened and that you didn't just have a frick huge experience.
yeah the DLC is kind of weird but i liked the expanded worldbuilding related to the australian civil war with Belltower mercs and shit.

It’s bizarre.
>dropping dude sex games at the best and comfiest hubs
I don’t think there’s even a particular reason I dropped them at those points. It’s just one of those games that I just never went back to. In my defense though, in the case of the OG game, my save file got corrupted and I couldn’t be bothered playing through the game again. I tried to replay the game recently and was actually somewhat filtered by I being way jankier than I remember it being.
Hong Kong is the comfiest zone in the entire game how could you drop there
Reminder that that music would be considered racist in current year.

That's the thing, the actual people rarely give a frick. But it offends white upper-middle class shitlibs.

Corruptive malevolent forces at work. Masons were supposed to be a force for good.
>make compelling arguments, aren't complete psychopaths
>The whole
It's worse than that.
Majestic 12 is the inevitable conclusion of any Illuminati conspiracy. Whether anyone likes it or not.
cool can i join then
No. You are barely a dot on their radar lmao. Do you have any significant control over capital? Do you have influence over countries?
lol

Not only did I save her, I stopped my pacifist run to save her.
>playing DX
>Manderley is talking to the Illuminati
>about to leave his office
>he shoots me in the back so i defend myself and kill him
>later on i read in the email that Manderley is ''missing'' and they can't find him anywhere despite dropping him clearly beside his desk
lol
Of course. Every run. Both lethal and non lethal runs.
I never could. I didn't know you could. If I replay, I will.
I didn't know it either on my first play through. But if you are fast, you can do it, even non-lethally.
You throw emp grenades at the box robots. It's that simple. They do the lion's share of the damage, all the humans can only scratch her machine.
Does anyone know if the normal old human recolution comes with the dlc?
you can't even buy it anymore ( on Steam atleast
) and no the DLC was separate.
yes and ruined my no-kill run for her.
PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP
GET PREGNANT GET PREGNANT GET GET PREGNANT
Stealth, persusasion etc..was my preferred playstyle but I didn't like feeling like the game would punish me for cutting off some dude's head with my blade if he was really a shit etc Ah well, its been awhile I may not be remembering it all properly.
enbracer owns them
work on a new deus ex is confirmed, early days tho
bear in mind:
>we know almost nothing
>no idea if it will be adam jensen 3 or a reboot of some kind
>the head director and art director left edios after MD
>i think they are using unreal rather than dawn engine now, but i dont remember if i'm confusing this with halo ditching slipspace engine
there's hope, not much hope, only a fool's hope, but it's better than nothing
Fricking crazy that it will only come out when MD is around 10 years old. About as long as between DE and HR.
because the old SE ceo forced them to make 2 live service marvelshitters instead of more DX, and they also cut MD in half and added MTX, and they were too cheap to pay for the actor faces lol.
i never understood the hate for their moronic mechanical apethid thingy, but then again i'm the kind of guy who doesnt react to "press f to pay respects" either, and i cant claim south african history is taught well anywhere outside it.
augument your preorder can frick itself but i was pretty uninterested in hating it
SE cutting the game in half can frick themselves tho
they should have made the sidequests the main quest to shut people up complaining about length
I jerked on her corpse's face for old times sake
my ai wife!
Absolutely.
But what do you think of the clone theory?
I don't like it. Feels like its pointless to play MD if you are just a clone going through the motions
Why can't it be that you are playing as Adam prime, and the rest are clones used by Versalife to create aug rejection immunity for the ruling class? The Dentons were engineered from the ground up augmented. Someone got the DNA to do that from somewhere.
an easter egg
I like it. Maybe it's just due to the writing, but everything about "Adam" in MD feels off, especially in interactions with HR characters. Venom Jensen would at least explain away those inconsistencies
>"But who is in the box? Do you know? I know! I do. It is you in the box. In the dark. That's where they have kept you. In the dark"
MD Jensen feels a lot more subdued than HR I noticed
tbh someone did mention the 2 Adams facing eachother in the main menu might be kind of further clue.
https://deusex.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Aeratus/Guide_to_the_Adam_Jensen_Clone_Theory
interesting
Nope, on my first run i was trying to be as stealth as possible and not kill anyone. So she died lol.
Isn't it great when you play a game and you enter what seems to be a scripted moment only to try rebelling and the game actually accounts for it
They're probably my favorite moments in the DX games. I love that shit.
yeah its cool
Anyone who didn't save flygirl by any means necessary is a fricking subhuman, it's as simple as that
I didn't know I could my first run and now it's so easy. You just run around with the stun gun.
and the huge robot? he's immune to stun guns.
Emp grenades. I don't care about ghost I already got that steam achievement.
One thing I prefer about HR is how genuinely cyberpunk and futuristic is looks. Aesthetically, the game is beyond gorgeous.
DX1 always felt too much like the modern day with the occasional mech walking around. Plus, I prefer the Asian aesthetic to the 80s action movie vibe that the original game had.
pretty much me it is why despite respecting the original DX, it is my least favorite game of the series.
ADAM!
>800 B-EE
heh
does he know?
On one of my playthroughs, yes
>thanks you later by going out for drinks with another man
Nah she can die.
the whole point of malik is her being yur friend so that shouldn't really bother.
shame they made her wife material in appearance but prostitute material in everywhere else, double shame you can't be her FWB.
I don't even know who that is, but I like her haircut, and that instantly makes me want to rail her while I have her toes in mouth and a hand squeezing her tit.
>it's not a mole
ruined
Deus Ex died for Marvel.
They sold it to Embracer Group, who almost immediately afterward revealed they were in deep financial shit and shouldn't have been spending and acquiring studios the way they just did
they are working on a new DX

Why do takedown animations in the Jensen games freeze time for the duration of the animation?
It’s the only game I’ve ever played where take down animations don’t happen in real time.
Because like VATS in FO3 with its 90% damage reduction they realised it would be shit to die while locked into an animation
I get that, but just make it so enemies don’t attack you until the animation is complete. The problem with time freezing is that it minimises the risk of detection from takedowns.
Given how many times you'll be taking people down in a playthrough; it would be tedious as frick if you could be detected mid animation
Plus it's not like it's foolproof - if you're seen at the end of it or moving the body it's still GG; plus lethal takedowns alert everyone nearby anyways
>stabbing a guy through the lungs from behind is noisy
>tapping a guy on the shoulder and punching him when he turns around is quiet
>lethal takedowns alert everyone nearby anyways
Dumbest shit in the entire game.
I remember that the only balancing was that you had to hold the button prompt down for a second to do a non lethal takedown, in return you got a quieter KO and more exp. dumb.
I like how pritchard is supposed to be an obnoxious butthole and yet he ends up pretty much your best and only bro.
pritchard was a peak character arc for sure
Her, Cassandra from Inquisition, and that mechanic girl from Ace Combat are genuinely the most attractive women I've ever seen.
It seems you have a type anon
> I completely agree with you
As a Tali gay I can force myself to pick Liara on a femshep mass effect run; but I simply cannot play inquisition without Cassandra it's weird
never played dragonage and dont know the ace combat character
but yeah i'm thinking you're based in my book
Avril Mead. Range banned from picture uploads.
>Cassandra from Inquisition
shit taste, cassandra from DA2 is far better.
That direct face would not have translated well, and you know it. The face we could was a combination of that one and the one from the Dawn of the Seeker movie.
nah, the devs didn't really want to put in much effort else she would look detailed enough on the same level as leliana.
>could
get*
Not sure what I was doing there
Fun fact, that's not a mole, it's a Monroe piercing according to her concept art.
reminds me of the time i met Adams VA while playing Arma2 rp. me and some friends were arrested and getting heli'd and over the coms i heard him talking, so i was like "Holy shit, is that elias touphexis(or however the frick you spell it) and he straight up said "i never asked for this". was about 11 years ago and still one of the strangest notable person encounters ive had
based if true, but i wanna say bullshit and it was someone who sounds like elias touphexis and owned it
im fairly sure it was, i had just watched an interview with the dude and it sounded one to one. plus i dont think many people would know the VAs name outright like that. but who knows, it was a long time ago now
I was invested in a pacifist run before my first slam through a concrete wall that twisted a guy's head off. Being the kool aid man made me go full lethal.
If you didn't save her while playing on give me deus ex and in a non-lethal playthrough, you didn't actually save her.
>even if you do a silent lethal takedown, you still lose "ghost" bonus
>stealth giving more xp in general
what were they thinking?
The ghost bonus should've been for going through the area without touching anything, closing all the doors behind you, knockingnout nobody, etc.
That going pacifist stealth requires more augs than any other play style. Lethal stealth is literally just silenced 10mm headshots for 90% of the game.
Yes
>first play through
>Get to the bit where the screen starts glitching and you get called in to get it "fixed"
>Begin boss fight with the bald guy
>no typhoons, no ammo because stealth build, upgrade also fricks you
>No way to win not even on the easiest difficulty
>Have to restart the entire game
Anyone else?
There's a laser rifle in the room with you idiot
Like that would be enough
>ammo all around the room
>shoots through walls
>boss arena is nothing but walls the boss constantly jumps over
It was put there specifically so idiots could have something to fight with
i wonder how many people fell for the ''plz come get the fixed chip 100% safe ching chong''
>playing at release reading the e-mails at Picus
>"Wow, this manipulating the news bit seems like nonsense."
>played last year for the first time since
Only the dead know freedom from this torment.
The only unrealistic part was Picus owning 90% of global media, otherwise it's pretty obviously based on Rupert Murdoc's right wing propaganda machine.
obligatory
>is best girl
>actually loves (you) and wants to help
>she isn't real
FUUUUUCCCCCCCKK
>she isn't real
damn, the realest message of the game
Game had other things to say about women
based, b***h knew what she was doing and blatantly lied to keep simpsen from ditching her.
Are knife arms really better than just carrying a knife on you?
i guess so, but it's a matter of speedrunner-tier optimization homosexualry where you save 0.6 seconds getting your knife/blade arm ready to stab a b***h
>Are knife arms really better than just carrying a knife on you?
rule of cool > practicality
for concealment, length, speed, and looks it's possibly better
>can be drawn at a moment's notice
>can't be stolen and turned on you
>can't be confiscated by security
>the size of a goddamn broadsword
>being part of your arm gives you maximum strength, leverage, and control
There are a lot of advantages, yes.
Snikt Snikt bub
Long knife is long.
adam's knives work like irl flaccid penises
They get bigger when you want to impale a woman?
they even added a more ''i forgive you'' type response in the director's cut kek
It is weird how this game was way ahead of the cultural curve in that you getting cucked is a major part of the plot.
Hey Tone,
I'm fricking Czechoslovakian now or something.
Georgian
Mankind divided was such a disappointing piece of shit
This should have been Adam's body.
>trying to do a no kill stealth run for the achievement
>get to that Belltower shootout
>EMP one of the Robocop ED-E things
>it explodes and kills a nearby guard
tfw I let die in my blind run because I was unaware that you could save her (I tried and failed miserably)
me too, it isn't fair because it's one of those moments you suspect are scripted. so don't blame yourself.
i reloaded upon googling "can you save malik?" and 2000 results saying yes.
The trailers were so kino too
for me it's the commercial spot song
Max difficulty, stealth, no kills did it
Watching her execution turned me on.
seeing her on a chinese butcher table because they wanna rip out her old dead augs is WAY hotter. it's weird that jensen doesn't comment on it at all.
>it's weird that jensen doesn't comment on it at all.
>"I never asked for this fetish"
I wish I didn't always have the overwhelming urge to play HR and MD as non-lethal no alarms.
this but for every stealth game in existence
i played dishonored a couple times and still raged and uninstalled because i felt like a b***h for not being a ghost homosexual
In Sarif, everyone is expendable.
AADAM
They knew the risks Adaaam.
>Wayne ends up having a mental breakdown over the order Adam refused to follow when he was SWAT
>Adam shows back up in his life and makes him relive it
>He gets fired for letting Adam into the morgue
>Adam gets him a job with Sarif
>He dies on Panchaea
Wayne had a hard life
It's unlikely he got a job in time to be posted to Panchea, if he survived the Incident then he got to watch Sarif Industries go down the shitter and get bought out by TYM
Unless you blackmailed him with his pill addiction, in which case he got Jensen'd after pulling a gun at his apartment
She ruins my pacifist no detection run every fricking time
