no regrets using cheats to disrespect the game that disrespects the series it killed. 6 Was crude necromancy of the series.
Yeah, it really filtered me. It filtered me so hard that the series killed itself after it.
I only liked 1-3.
Filtered in that it was an egregious shitty cash-in and not even remotely close to the quality of former BoF games (which wasn't particularly high to begin).
>Bought BoF V thinking it's another great FF game with great animations and story because of the game cover. >Got pranked instead.
I was angry all the way through the whole game.
Glad to know I share this board with a bunch of Low-Ds.

Not really, it was just muh generic dystopia. The game was extremely lacking in content so they decided to make the hackneyed SOL system and bury the story behind that while encouraging restarts as a way to force players to replay, this also coincidentally padded the shit out of Drag/4. SaGa games had a much better scenario system and far more replayability, this was just Capcom's shitty way of imitating their free scenario system that contrarians latch onto as is typical for Ganker.

I'm currently playing BoF with the War of the Goddeses patch that adds a dash button and has a new translation. I just saw the Stone Golem kill itself.
How were the GBA ports of 1 and 2?
Frick man, war of the goddess is such a spectacular way to play the first breath of fire. It might be because I played it after 2, but I enjoyed the first one more.
I'll ask here because I don't know where else to ask. I'm currently playing BoF IV and am trying to enter the checkpoint after the village of children but my game keeps failing to load the town and loading into random battles if I wait long enough. I'm playing with the uncensored patch that I'm hoping isn't causing the issue, because I believe this is where one of the three uncensored scenes happens. If anyone could provide any advice I'd appreciate it.
Maybe you fricked up the patch? I see people finishing the game without any problem. Also maybe this? >If you are playing with a save file created by the unpatched, original game, there may be incompatibilities
I probably fricked up the patch. When I got scias in my party and he didn't have identify working out of the gate like he was supposed to, I kept messing around trying to get it to work until I gave up on him having it and patched in a secondary identify hack that allows him to level into it. There is so much going on in terms of improvement hacks that I'm kinda shocked it works at all.
I had a good time with this game but I have to say they should've made it an original IP, maybe just Dragon Hazard or something because it burned most BoF fans with how different it was.
This was my first BOF game, played it like a year ago & 100% completed it.
The whole thing feels half baked, like combos literally do nothing (unless it's the machinegun), the basic sword attack is the best attack, the ant minigame is bullshit, sound design sucks, shortcuts suck & are locked behind D-ranks when there's the whole dragon form mechanic, the fricking mall dungeon, the most tactical thing in the game is picking enemies 1 by 1 & farming the double headed palmtrees for xp, bait & traps are worthless.
Girl designs are cute tho.
It feels weirdly like a Dead Rising JRPG prototype, too many things go against it in the end. It was also kind of ahead of its time, with the current popularity of roguelites and what not it might've been more popular were it made today.
Three main characters only.
Gameplay is completely different to the previous titles.
Dragon Form can be used only so much or you die.
The whole game is on a timer
Game had a key gameplay element removed in EU countries
Combat wasn't like a JRPG, it was more like a strategy game where you had action points to move and attack with
Whole game designed around a system where you restart, the Dragon Timer, which went up as you played and went up even more if you used dragon powers
Dragon Powers super OP, invincible, able to stack double attack power buff, can one shot all bosses if done right
Honestly I liked it despite the EU butchering
I replay it often on emulator with NA version
There's a feature to soft reset back to last save with gained bonus XP
Basically you keep resetting at the boss fight against your Boss, gain loads of XP and breeze through the rest of the game
Its main use is to stock up Bonus XP for the Fairy village dungeon, cause that resets you to 0 so you use it all there to be able to actually complete it
The EU version of Dragon Quarter does not have this feature, even though its in the manual
Its stupid hard to get 1/4 completion because of it

Really glad i didn't get it back then. I heard about this like years after the release that the EU version was scuffed
This is just straight up wrong though.
The EU version does have SOL restore, the function that got removed is the suspend save (which they compensated for by giving you 9 save tokens at the start).
Is III the worst I'm the series? I beat it maybe a week ago and I thought it was pretty weak compared to the second one. Also, where is mogu in the mural?
I hate it, it took so much runs and saving items for the next run for survival but I like the ant colony stuff, the only thing that takes my anger away from the all the frustration the game is giving me.
>create another entry in long-running series famous for the powerful dragon transformations >if you transform into a dragon too much, it's game over
what were they thinking?
They were thinking you can do it for every boss fight and still have plenty left over, because the meter is incredibly generous and you can tell who never played the game because if they played it, they'd know that.
I liked it more when you turn into a dragon whenever instead of limiting you.
They also completely went away from giving you unique looking dragon forms. That's why i still love BoF 3 so much
>the powerful dragon transformations >if you transform into a dragon too much, it's game over
The dragons in 5 are THAT powerful. You aren't the dragon. You are connected to one and it is taking over you when you use it. It's cool.
Over time I've found the best way to find new, interesting and fun games is to see what games got a polarizing reception
Sometimes you end up playing absolute shit like Curse of Darkness or Nanobreaker, but sometimes you get gold
The only success in the series is BoF3. BoF5 sales data encompasses 6 weeks, versus BoF4's 12+ months, meaning it outpaced it greatly. The series has pathetic numbers in general.
Not a real BOF game.
Glad to know I share this board with a bunch of Low-Ds.
not a real BoF
not a good game

It was better than that generic JRPG shit.

Yeah, that's why it got no other games after that for a long time until they completely buried it with 6

Of course I did. Just like every other fan of the game I know,I put down for a few years before giving it an honest shot
I haven't even tried it, because it doesn't really look like a BoF game.
Someday I'll give it a fair shot though.
I had a good time with this game but I have to say they should've made it an original IP, maybe just Dragon Hazard or something because it burned most BoF fans with how different it was.

This game was so good. I was confused at first but once I got it I loved it.
Breath of Fire 2 is the worst. You don't even turn into a dragon. They are summons. The only thing to like is tiger pussy
All the characters were great in 2. Bosch is a personal favorite because he can snipe late game enemies for free exp.
are there any modern rpgs that have that bof 3/4 feel?
So what's wrong with this? Never played.
It isn't generic shit
Three main characters only.
Gameplay is completely different to the previous titles.
Dragon Form can be used only so much or you die.
The whole game is on a timer
It filtered people because it was incredibly different and experimental.

worst BoF
Bought it on release. Loved it.
Loved the other BOF games too. Only shitters hate this game. It's a 10/10 journey with great replayability
I hate it, it took so much runs and saving items for the next run for survival but I like the ant colony stuff, the only thing that takes my anger away from the all the frustration the game is giving me.
>Breath of Fire legacy collection never ever
>barely made it as one of the keywords in the recent Capcom survey
It's not fair.
BoF sadly was never as big as say megaman. Also, they killed this IP in the worst way possible with BoF6
I tried playing 4 couple years ago and got stuck in the fricking desert.
>create another entry in long-running series famous for the powerful dragon transformations

what were they thinking?
They were thinking you can do it for every boss fight and still have plenty left over, because the meter is incredibly generous and you can tell who never played the game because if they played it, they'd know that.
Fricking casuals.

>ryu isn't even a natural born dragon
Sounds even worse
It a rogue lite form the early 2000s, that reason enough.
Over time I've found the best way to find new, interesting and fun games is to see what games got a polarizing reception
Sometimes you end up playing absolute shit like Curse of Darkness or Nanobreaker, but sometimes you get gold
Nope. Best game in the series by far and the only one that stands out in any way. Schizos seethe.
this game would be much better if was released after resident evil 4 release
Would still fail

>Not a real BOF game
Which is why it was good
Capcom was going to can BoF no matter what kind of game 5 was.
