You do understand that you're not going to be allowed to keep playing old games right?

You do understand that you're not going to be allowed to keep playing old games right? You understand that Steam is going to be forced to take your old games away from you so that you have to buy the new slop right? Sweet Baby doesn't like you playing those old bigoted games and their will shall be carried out if it takes sending swat teams to kill you.

90% of my Steam games are shovelware. The 10% that I do happen to like, I already backed up a pirated copy. Even if Gabe Newell dies and Larry Fink becomes the new owner of Steam, I will be prepared

If a game gets removed from steam you realize that just means you can’t buy it right? It stays in your library.

This has happened to me a couple of times. Two games come to mind, the first one was updated solel to remove the executable and make it unplayable, and the second one was changed to a completely different game due to a controversy with the community because it was impossible to finish it. This however has only happened with small, indie developers, so I wouldn't draw conclusions from these isolated cases.
I also remembera developer who published games with crypto miners and another that updated a game with malware.

I don't think I've ever paid more than 5 USD for a PC game, and many of them are free. So even if I end up losing those games, I don't give a shit, since I paid pennies for them. I can't help but laugh at those morons who paid $60 or more for a digital game

sadly this is the best we have - owning cd keys that we hope can continue to be one day downloaded. And let's be honest, if that's all Steam ultimately has been able to provide when it goes under, can anyone really feel wronged or shorted when they essentially ended up purchasing CD keys for games at a price under MSRP? Steam is the best we have. We have to keep it privately owned (not on the stock market and owned by the bankers), and we have to keep it in a strong market position. Because the publishers want nothing more than to get their fricking foot in the door and assrape everyone into paying a subscription fee to be able to continue to access the games they paid full price for (without CD keys)
