Microsoft should have killed off Xbox Series S when they had the chance. No developer wants to make games for the Series S for another half decade. More and more games are being neutered because of Series S.
It's also important to say that if a dev wants to make a game for the series X they have to respect feature parity with Series S, which is insane. That console was a moronic idea.

I don't get why this is a bad thing. The current trend for developers is to severely cut corners when optimizing their games. Creating new versions of consoles will only give developers more excuses for poor optimization.

There’s pretty much no game that deserves a high-end part requirement. Game visuals and especially performance has been horrid across the board regardless of if it’s a PS5, Series X, or PC. You make a mid-gen refresh and you’ll get 30fps, 1080p for every game going forward unless you cough up the $700 or whatever for this upgrade.
