L4D2 had some of the most cancerous versus matches I've ever joined. Actual fricking man children getting mad because you picked up some pills or adrenaline before they did or god for fricking bid you actually are a decent player. Great game though.
only time id play versus was with a friend so when one of the other 2 people we didnt know inevitably tried to kick one of us we could wiener block them
then we'd call a kick against whoever tried kicking one of us as a troll, and it worked like 80% of the time which says something about the situation
I went back and played single player campaign recently for nostalgia and eventually tried versus mode, haven't played in a decade and barely played vs. at all back in the day. The servers were apparently being DDOS'd and between that and being repeatedly cursed out and kicked right at the start because I was new and trying to figure out how to play, it was completely unplayable. I spent maybe 45 minutes just attempting to play the game before giving up. To be honest it was kind of funny what a shitshow it was. But I will never go back again. Complete waste of time.

I hate how L4D2 Versus these days is filled with ultra-competitive homosexuals who will not tolerate a single mistake in a game that's over a decade old. The only time I play is when we get eight friends together. It's a shame because Versus is a ton of fun.
Why is it like this?
my theory is that it's mainly kids/teenagers (and probably some literal autists) left since the game has been free or less than $1 so many times basically 99% of steam accounts own it. now picture kids/teenagers who may not have easy access to parents money so they only have a few games to play, very few of which feature any kind of competitive/co-op and so they get drawn into l4d2 and it's "community" and, being young get drawn into the "culture" of "git gud gg" and embrace the insufferable homosexualry that game brings. I'm probably wrong but I can't think of any other reason that the game is the way it is other than the moddable nature of the game and the workshop enabling players to turn it into whatever meme game they want.

That clip is out of context. Prior to the reveal, Day9 said the following:

To be fair, these remarks, while misleading, aren't really wrong. Despite its shared setting, Artifact's core gameplay is nothing at all like Dota 2's, and deserves to be seen as its own IP.
But still, what Day9 said set the expectation of a completely new game with no ties to any previous Valve titles. The reaction isn't because of the reveal itself, but the false expectations set by Day9's remarks.
Additionally, at the next TI the crowd CHEERED at being told they were in the Artifact beta.

That's the sad reality of it. But it is a game worth getting good at. People who play for a long time just move away to a spot without cars to fight tank.
The player base is what it is but there are some cool people once you get past the initial learning stage. The "ranked clan server" andies are rare.

Because survivors have
-commons around them
-specials that can slow them down
-less options for getting around the terrain
-more prone to getting caught by any of the above or a wall because they will be likely backpedaling
Survivors are still OP as shit though. Give them only a set of pills, 50 max hp, and all of it is temporary health.
All findables and weapons besides rifles allowed.
Versus should not be stale and samey with no items or weapon upgrades like in competitive, but it also should be extremely difficult for all survivors to make it through the level

Most toxic game I've ever played and I've extensively played TF2 and BF1. No Chinese bot or voicechat-spamming nightcore-listening jerking off-to-MLP motherfricker will give me PTSD the same as 5 minutes in a versus lobby. L4D2 players are fricked in the head.

It's easy to tank, get up high and throw rocks while the specials set up attacks. Only jump in if you think you can get them all, make sure to dodge all mollies and gas tanks
