As someone who used to play the game over decade and a half ago, it's absurd how every card is now entirely self-sufficient with nothing but card advantage and intelligent deck-building has basically gone out the window.
I haven't played magic since Khans of Tarkir. Looking at it now, it's like a completely different game. The powercreep clearly got out of hand, they have completely sold out to other IPs and "specialty" products, and they have gone beyond woke. It's honestly sad seeing how far the once great game has fallen.
Cuz no one plays anything else than Commander now. Every new set just comes with excuse to print stuff to Commander, and some effects are designed around it too. Its kinda sad cuz it was my favorate formats when you could just take shit card in every format and it would turn into playable - like finding gems.
This was, of course, like a decade ago.
They wont, the MTGA as a UIX and app is archaic as hell and they should completly redo it. Its so fricking sloppily made its hilarious - they really see the MTGA just as a easy money.

The cheapest way is to use cards that don't belong and have a piece of paper beside you act as a legend so that you know what they're substituting. It requires almost zero effort, marks no cards and is just "good enough" when push comes to shove.
Relatively. I always like drafting new sets and even though I mainly just play pioneer/explorer there might be a few cool cards that work their way into that
