You grew up and aren't as likely to try to reach out to people. Okay, it's not just that. Going from dedicated servers and player formed parties to random matchmaking made other people much more disposable.

Combination of those. Also in online based games the best time to meet and form new groups/friends with people is when a game first comes out. If you come in any time after that you're going to struggle if you're not a very outgoing person. The other people already have their groups and don't feel the need to reach out to you. You're not an outgoing person so you don't reach out. So you're alone. Be a sigma and embrace it or go RP with some troony. They'll never fricking leave you alone. Probably not what you want though.

My friends are game addicts but we just don't play the same games. My friend has multiple thousands of hours in RimWorld, Kenshi, oxygen not included, etc. He'll play games outside of his comfort zone occasionally but he never really gets into them

Started trying to play with freinds since they all started getting updated rigs and consoles. Gaming online together didn't really last long though? I feel like I had better experiences playing with people I met online? I don't know but I think its just you both know what you end playing together and the fact your not as comfy with each other as normal friends you tend to hold back being a dick or straight up rude over how things play out. Probably just my shit IRL friends with emotional kid brains but yea I gave up on playing with them.

I really want to play games with people and make friends. But the moment I join a lobby its like a wall pops up in my brain. Suddenly I cant make myself talk and I cant find words to be articulate with callouts. It seems like if there is more than one person talking at once I just overload and my head starts hurting. Im crippilingly lonely but for some reason I just cant connect and act accordingly around people anymore, I have lost the ability to connect with orher people. I have had friends before when growing up that i just grew apart from and now its like im doomed to be alone forever. I used to love playing games with people and now its painful to even try to engage with someone. I have no idea where it all went wrong. Think I might be moronic.
I do the same. I think "This person sounds like a moron I don't want to be friends with this guy" but I think that about literally everyone and I probably sound like a moron, too. I feel like I can't relate to anyone. It's crippling to be lonely like this and I feel like I can't change it or don't have the will to do it.
