How good is it? I've had my eye on it for a while.
it's pretty janky. Like pausing cutscenes doesn't pause dialogue janky but it's totally playable.
I got it from gamestop earlier this week for xbox and they were running a buy one get one promo so I got this and another game for $30. I'd definitely get it on sale.

It has actual male and female bathrooms instead of the "gender neutral bathrooms" homosexualry that keeps popping up in westoid games. I can't believe I have to bring that up, but that's how low some games have fallen. It also doesn't play itself and still provides some challenge on normal difficulty. Also, several shower scenes with the mc. It's like this game was designed to repel San Francisco "game journalists".

that's pretty much accurate, i enjoyed it a lot partially despite the jank and partially because of it but its hard to recommend at full price.
to be fair the guy that did direct it looks like he's been working with him and co-directing ng/doa stuff since the 90s, but yeah as far as i can tell itagaki didn't have a personal role on it (or at least a credited one)

It feels like a more realized version of what they were trying to do with Devil's Third gameplay-wise, with MC being able to switch between her main rifle, a second weapon, her pistol and her katana freely, mixed with bizarre Kojima-esque indulgences in the cutscenes; one of the loading screens is a recreation of supa hot fire with the game's cast, there's cutscenes of the main character getting food at the police station cafeteria that serves no purpose.
It's not really jank in the conventional, jank implies there's corners that had to be cut because they didn't have the resources or budget, the same way you use the term for euro/slavjank or ecchi games.
These guys absolutely had the budget to do everything they wanted, licensing shit like 99 Luftballoons

Now, doing everything they did, did they make a 10/10 game? Nah but I think it's still worth at least trying on sale.
This is a game that absolutely had zero input from marketers or a producer or even an editor, MC is a 7 foot tall Amazon with a cyborg arm and a katana, when was the last time you saw a main character that visually interesting, characters go off on weird ass tangents in dialogue. It's not a perfect mix of gunplay and swordfighting in spite of its best efforts, but it's still something worth experiencing.

Why does the main girl look like they tried to turn her face into an anime face at the last minute? It's so weird. Everyone else looks pretty human but she's got the weirdest facial features.
I think it's just the stiff and weird animations since she resembles her actress pretty closely. Joosten's character suffers for it too.

Just bought this for $30 and thought it was pretty kino. I wish there were a few more stages/bosses, but what was there was still fairly solid. It's no Ninja Gaiden Black, but playing a straightforward action game with b movie charm is almost something you can't get in 2023 anymore. This game reminded me of how much I miss action games from the 6th and 7th gen.
This game is on par with something like Left Alive. It had potential but ruins it at every opportunity.
