I play PSO2 so seeing people actually defend their game feels so weird to me. Ask anyone in that game and they will tell you how shitty and awful it is and how much the devs fricked it up and how nobody is happy with it.
I think xiv just picked up a lot of goodwill by having some transparency and communication with the community that should just be a normal level but now it's produced fiercely loyal fans, also the documentary (you know the one) brainwashes people into being sympathetic towards xiv because who doesn't like a good turnaround story.

I have personally been banned before because I handed a group over to another player because I only wanted to do O4S and I was restricted from skipping to it because I hadn't done O1S-O3S that week. This guy kicked me from the group to make room for his friend immediately and I set up a PF warning people about what he does. I got banned for this. So people just tip toe around egg shells and act like smarmy passive aggressive pricks in game. The real community comes out when you look at FFXIV discords where the GMs can't ban them.

I'm a MMO oldgay (Meridian 59, Underlight, AO, EQ etc..) and played many major "modern" MMOs including WoW and FFXIV. I admit, there is a "toxic positivity" environment in some cases specific to FFXIV I've not found elsewhere. Now admitteldy this may just be "post MMO heyday / WoW-chasing FOM" as I didn't start playing XIV continuously until after I quit WoW (from near launch to end of Legion); I did dip in to FFXIV at 1.0, ARR, and then came back right before Endwalker. So maybe its just a "modern" audience thing but I tink some part of it is really FFXIV

Oh frick off, bad design is bad design. A Relic from nearly a decade ago is not a best in slot, its a cosmetic. Stupidly grindy bullshit made for a time when something was the best in slot and there was a limited amount of content should have other options,t he same way that you can use GC Seals or Tomestones to get ARR/HW/SB etc.. pets and mounts as well. . Adding alternate ways to progress, including those utilizing more of the game's content would be more "work", and fixing poorly designed or outmoded elements is an overall benefit for everyone. Tedium and grindy bullshit does not equate with 'hard work', and the only people crying about this tend to be crab bucket frickers.

I'll admit i'm surprised how fast xiv gms work. This was the first and last time I reported anyone. Going apeshit with cursing and caps lock after two failed attempts is too much. When I was raiding in wow i didnt mind if we wiped all night and if it took us days and weeks to clear. Learning and ultimately clearing is what matters. No matter how long it takes. Why people get mad and curse I don't understand. Stress is a slow killer. I'd like to give ultimates a try in xiv but I'm worried I am too old and slow for it.

HW was the last time I truly enjoyed doing 8man normal raids, SB 24man were good but I didn't care for omega normal that much.
Same for extreme trials I suppose, but I liked most SB ones.

HW diadem was amazing, not for combat content, but gathering, you could find things like spruce logs and darksteel really easily, it was a gold mine, you could also farm blue scripts to grind your gatherers to 60, it was great, far better than shb diadem that only exist for fotm mounts, titles and easy levelups that will never teach you how to gather collectables or craft properly, with ridiculous amount of useless items you can't use outside of ishgard restoration.
HW had far and away less content than EW.
It had one of the most reviled raid tiers.
Its version of diadem was wildly loathed
