As long as we don't get another three dog I'm fine.

I have no idea who that is but sure. I'm guessing he's from fallout 4 or 76
He's a boring shutin channer from fallout 4
>GTA style radio
Did he forget Fallout had radio stations?
>fallout
literally who?
how bizarre is Fallout that radio stations only broadcast old music and conservative propaganda
>game has a built-in MP3 player
Bethesdabros, the future is now
I remember when EveryQuest did this. It was great.
I hope they don't handwave interstellar communications. The fastest information can travel via broadcast is the speed of light. With systems being light years apart, it shouldn't be possible to have a radio you can hear from multiple systems, unless you leave that radio running for decades and every system is hearing a different part of a continuous stream. Would make news broadcasts impossible but music would be fine.
If they do want to send information via FTL, there should be a relay system or perhaps a mailman ship that receives communications, warps to the system, then rebroadcasts.
We'll be lucky to get the handwave
it's be a magic quantum entanglement radio
Quantum entanglement does not enable FTL communication.
>literally gears
>no info sent
lol these guys are moronic
>Ultimately, you can’t force an entangled particle into a particular state and you can’t force a measurement to produce a particular outcome because the results of quantum measurement are random. Even with measurements that are perfectly correlated, no information passes between them. The sender and receiver can only see the correlation when they get back together and compare measurements, which they have to do that at or below the speed of light. No real information is passed when the entangled particles affect each other.
https://quantumxc.com/blog/is-quantum-communication-faster-than-the-speed-of-light/#:~:text=However%2C%20even%20though%20entangled%20quantum,send%20data%20using%20quantum%20entanglement.
>these morons couldn't figure it out, therefore theory is impossible
Bigger moron than I thought
Imagine you have a pair of mismatched socks. One sock is black, the other one is white. Thus these socks are "entangled."
You pick one sock at random and seal it in a box that you keep on Earth. The other sock gets blasted off on a probe into deep space.
Some time passes. The other sock is now in another galaxy. You want to determine what color it is, so you open your own box and discover a white sock. Thus, you can accurately deduce that the sock in another galaxy must be black.
Did this information travel to you from another galaxy, faster than the speed of light? No, it did not.
Entanglement lets you deduce the state of a particle by examining its entangled particle, but the information you glean from it is effectively random and there's no (known) way to manipulate it to actually "send data", just like you can't paint one sock red to magically change the other one to be blue.
>you can't
Except you can, all you need is a single change state, like we do, we don't need the exact amount of current and voltage to know a difference between a 0 and a 1.
That's not how it works. As soon as you change the state of one particle, the entanglement is broken.
I still don't understand why you are trying to argue with failed observations. Like that would change anything on a sci fi game.
I don't understand why you are trying to argue with a 300 IQ genius like myself.
>thinks our current understanding and application of the theory is representative of the potential of it
>genius
OK
The whole way entanglement works is that you can't force it to be zero or one. The measurement randomly makes it zero or one. So it's useless for communication.
>works
Seriously anon.
>You can't paint one sock to magically turn the other blue
That's actually what you do with entangled particles though. The whole issue is that the guy on the otherside doesn't know its blue unless it attempts to measure it's color, which forces it to be red or blue in itself. He doesn't know if blue was the random outcome of his measurement, or if it was already blue because you made yours red.
>he doesn't know
>One sock is black, the other one is white. Thus these socks are "entangled."
you're describing the "hidden variable theory", which asserts that quantum systems have some internally defined quality that isn't apparent until measurement. the problem is that Bell's theorem lead to testable predictions that would ultimate disprove hidden variable theory.
tldr: you don't understand basic concepts in quantum mechanics that have been around since the 60s
It's a scifi game, not hard science like The Expanse 1-3
lol who cares nerd
go ahead and get back to where you belong
What is quantum entanglement
Unable to send information
Well? What is it?
a magic couple of words for the purposes of 99% of of soft sci fi (starfield included)
Since it's confirmed we can take over other peoples ships I wonder what it's going to look like having people still alive on them. Does the crew just surrender, do we have to take out leaders for the rest to surrender, can we abduct the survivors and make them apart of our ship crew
I hope we can space them if they surrender.
THIS, If I can't space people (including companions I don't want) into space then someone better mod that into the game pronto
Since all the crew/companions have jobs on the ship it would be sweet if we could steal a ship and sell it back home while instructing one of followers to pilot our ship back home with us
if you've played bethesda games
Quest:
>Board the enemy ship
>complete
>Take out the captain
>complete
>Finish off the remaining pirates
>mission complete now the ship is yours to dock into your own ships bay to sell off or strip for parts
Bro they literally said they made the ships have infinite fuel because playtesters were too moronic to remember to refuel their ships before travelling. Give up on any expectations of realism on this turd of a game.
Damn they got the Valve playtesters somehow
>Bethesda game
>realism expectations
You have lower IQ than playtester
That's not quite what they said but I get your point. There's still a difference between making allowances for fun and throwing realism out the window. The ships still run on fuel rather than magic quantum pixie dust after all.
You are still limited in how far your ship can jump based on fuel
You just won't be stranded in space or on a planet because it wasn't fricking fun
Pretty sure Todd even said that modders can put it back in the game pretty easily if you despise the idea of a game not having tedious mechanics that much
>realism
If we're talking about realism, there's no chance humanity will ever expand into the stars as so many fictional works romantically depict. You'll get some dinky space huts on the moon and Mars, that's about it. That's our realistic ceiling.
>there's no chance humanity will ever expand into the stars
NTA, I'm not entirely sure about that though. All it needs is one extra-solar colony and then humanity should spread like wildfire on a dry summer day. If humanity reaches that step total annihilation of our species becomes immeasurably slim and either solar systems can make another colony and those even more, thus exponential growth is the only other logical conclusion.
Granted humanity still has a significant chance of destruction while we are all tied to the same rock floating in the crude nothingness of space. "Don't put all eggs in one basket" and all that crap.
I prefer Warhammer 40k unification wars to be somewhat the realistic requirement to at least have a interstellar travel AND empire so we can both colonize and conquere, if there even is any other species for us to fight against in our own galaxy.
If they don't cheat physics we won't be traveling between planets in a reasonable time, let alone between stars, so might as well cheat the radio too. I, for one, like the idea of tuning in to Galaxy News Radio.
>open Starfield
>turn on radio
>THREE DOOOOOOOOG HERE
kino
>noooo you can't have FICTIONAL things in my science FICTION game!!!
why stop at FTL communications? why not complain that FTL travel is impossible and the game is unplayable unless you have to sit on a ship for IRL decades to go from planet to planet? fricking sperg
Obviously there will be FTL travel. How do imagine the game will work otherwise?
>get a fetch quest in another star system
>it's 5 light years away
>fly there at 1% of light speed while frozen in cryosleep casket
>game plot skips 500 years forward
>the guy you were supposed to meet has been dead for centuries and the civilization he belonged to does not exist any more with the quest location buried under 5 metres of soil.
>constantly moving 3 light minutes back to listen to Mojo Nixon over and over again
We asked for mojo Nixon. They said "he don't work here."
eh, all they need to add is a Space Buoy(tm) to every third star system or something.
Honestly it would be much more awesome if we had Space Lighthouses which has their own music and comms channels but it would be too hard sci-fi for that and this game isn't it.
This would be neat, if this isn't in the game I bet someone will eventually make a mod for these
not interested in discussing realism in a series w/ space dragons and magic pirates
yea they should also make you wait thousands of years real time to get to the next star system
>subspace
>self similar space
>made up space
It's not real you homosexual they can make up some bullshit and you will enjoy it.
>that level of detail from Bethesda
Good one anon. You're lucky if the space ships don't use gasoline for fuel.
It's a game with FTL travel, moron.
Their FTL allows mass to travel faster than light, not signals.
Who gives a shit. Radio is fun.
Hey everybody, did the news get around
About a guy named Butcher Pete
Oh, Pete just flew into this town
And he's choppin' up all the women's meat…
should just let me blast my own pirate station with nonstop nsbm
>download 40+GB lossless FLAC audo repack overhaul mod
>download IMMERSION mod to silence all sounds in space
life is good
TO THE TOWN OF AGUA FRIA RODE A STRANGER ONE FINE DAYYYYY
Get a host more like Three Dog and less like that mother frick from Fallout 4
Will there be fake V.A.T.S?
blinded by the lights
blinded by the lights
dizzy new heights
sometimes I wonder how game journos got their jobs
They couldn't hack it in real journalism somehow
I was extremely skeptical about the quality of this game when they stated they would be using the same engine (with alleged significant upgrades)
My fears were confirmed that this would be garbage when I heard the phrase "Last group of space explorers".
I live in a city of a bit under 500,000 people. Less than 5km away from each other, 2 different chess clubs meet at the exact same time and have zero relation to one another.
You mean to tell me, in a setting where humanity has colonized the stars and expanded across the galaxy, among the billions if not trillions of people that the ONLY people who are interested in exploring space are directly tied to this one group?
Insanity and just plain garbage writing.
It takes quite a bit more funding to be a space explorer than it does to be part of a chess club. Most people in the colonies with a ship are going to be more focused on making money or being part of a military than going on joyrides. There's probably a few space explorers here and there but Constellation being the last formal group is fine.
You could have made your point quicker if you just typed: I'm a moron.
That's Ganker in a nutshell
I thought this game was supposed to be hard scifi? There is no sound in space.
Well I'm you'll only hear the radio inside from your space ship. Although being bethesda I'm theres gonna be loud fiery explosions in space though
>hard scifi
>FTL travel
choose one
It's a sliding scale. It's harder than most space opera media but softer than most hard sci-fi literature. The Expanse is on a similar level, where it rides the line and enjoys being grounded but stays on the softer side cause there's some fun to be had.
you can't fundamentally break the laws of physics and be considered hard scifi. that's a contradiction in terms
2001 Space Odyssey is considered Hard Sci-Fi.
Dragon's Egg by Robert L. Forward involves an alien species that lives on the surface of a neutron star. Also Hard Sci-Fi.
The 'Hard' part only refers to the hard sciences. You can break things a little if it's still focused on exploring hard sciences through fiction.
is a mid sci fi
they where thinking on going hard, but realized that fun and hard is not always the same, so devs tone it down
it was in one of the interviews
>mid sci fi
just making shit up now
yea i dont know the term
i just know that they just mixed stuff a little bit so some parts are hard and other are not
the spaceships don't even need refuelling, dude
star wars is harder scifi
Ok. Now I'm buying Starfield.
adding the rebel galaxy soundtrack to it then
IM AN ALLIGATOR
Better just be generic in-house music like GTA did before they started licensing real songs.
it'll all just be elevator music.
Do not believe Todd's lies
>My theory is that the game will have music!
Really breaking new ground with this article huh?
Hopefully it's all original music and not licensed crap
Can't wait to listen to mumble rap while not climbing ladders.
Reminder that only a handful of planets will actually have content and quests and the other ~990 will exist solely for base building and will have 0 handcrafted content, buildings, interiors, enemies, weapons, loot or quests.
Bethesda made a new radiant system that plops down entire bases and quests as you explore a planet
b***h people still explore Skyrim to this day. I trust the Todd
>2 years later
>all licensed tracks taken out of the game
Overrated song and artist ngl
Imagine that as you utilise FTL and head further from Earth you start to pick up radio signals from the past, gradually going back to the first radio broadcasts. Imagine listening to a song on the radio, FTLing a bit ahead and listening to it again
I unironically liked three dog from fallout 3 so I'm cool with this, actually cooler if it's like FO3 frequency where you hear different types of hosts if your in specific parts of the galaxy.
what the frick does revved up like a deuce mean
So this? Based as frick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBjF8w4Arhw&list=PL154E22132C607BFD
I used to listen to this album while Space Trucking.
I am going to listen to this when the game comes out. I have never heard this album before
>space battle in game
>space oddity starts playing
This is going to be so kino bros
Sweet Dreams are Made of These reverberated his entire spaceship, making it pulsate even as the 289 dollar synth wine circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of space pirates after tradeship hours
this will ship unfinished like every other dog shit bethesda game ever released
its okay, modders will unironically fix it
What kind of music would that have? Just more vintage shit like fallout?
I want a space travel game that lets my ship hook up to WMP and play my MP3s locally. But like dynamically, the sound adjusting depending on the acoustics of the room I'm in and where the nearest speaker is.
its gonna be some Enders Game shit where we discover some super particle (from alien tech) that allows for instant communication across infinite distances.
I doubt it they didnt even put three Black person in shitout 4
>it's Todd Howard in all 15 channels telling us to buy skyrim
the game creators having an in game radio show is KINO
My wish would be that the radio stations play original tracks which are meant to envision music as it'd be in the setting, with some older songs thrown in for good measure. Say what you will about Cyberflop, but that was a geniunely cool aspect of the game, awful lack of genre variety notwithstanding.
post yfw
plays when you launch into atmosphere,
>The vintage radio station plays This is America
post yfw
Microsoft/Bethesda wont want to pay for rights to real music so I cant see this happening.
