As far as PC gaming in the heyday went, the MechWarrior series was well known among the normalgays.

They are, it just takes time to make games and in case of AC it takes time to copy, Sekiro is only from 2019 and the indie scene has a lot of new Samurai games.

the first mecha game i truly enjoyed was future cop lapd (if that counts as mecha) for ps1 and front mission 3.
after that, it was the zone of enders.
anyway i did finish every AC game so i'm extremely hyped for this game even tho they added fricking repairs in the game.
it's gonna be extremely casualized for new people we will see a lot of new lifelong mecha fans all of a sudden among normies but there's nothing we can do about it.

Mechwarrior 4 is still the GOAT at least my personal favourite I miss the old live-action cutscenes.
MechWarrior 4 is a lot better than MW5, that's for sure
MW5 with the mod to remove the weight limit isn't too bad, but it gets boring REAL fast without a proper story.

Gundam is fine but it's not mecha in the same way AC and Mechwarrior are.
Gundam's are giant exosuits in space, basically jet fighters with arms and legs. They aren't hulking walking tanks like they are in other mecha series.
