Being an echo doesn't automatically mean you're a 1-1 clone like Daisy or Richter. Just look at Ken, he's practically a Semi-clone like Dr. Mario or Isabelle, but he's still considered an echo by designation.

It was on the right track with Yoshi's Story but that ended up bastardizing the character to this instead of expanding it with its own cast and setting divorced from its Mario roots. I know the whole quote with Miyamoto, DKC and Yoshi's Island haven't been proven/etc. but I legit feel that Yoshi in particular is special to Miyamoto and that's why he hasn't really broken from Mario or most of his games are just Mario games with him as the protagonist. The Super Donkey prototype strengthens this theory.

This only holds true for current Switch hardware, and everyone and their brother expects the next Smash game to be a next gen title. Strong chance a duo character will work on the hardware considering its able to run Unreal Engine 5 during the Gamescom demo Nintendo showed off to journalists.

I don't really see the issue with similar fighters. I honestly think they should have leaned into echo fighters more - Metal Sonic, Black Shadow, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong, Birdo, X/Zero, etc would have a shot of getting in that they otherwise wouldn't have had.

Is there any good explanation for Ultimate's lack of Porky content other than him being planned but scrapped?
Mother is a dead, semi-obscure series.
Not in Smash. It has plenty of content and new content added each game. Porky was a boss in Brawl but doesn't even appear as a spirit in Ultimate.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Porky was originally planned for Ultimate, but Sakurai couldn't think of a moveset for him, so he had to be scrapped. Or maybe that doesn't mean anything and we'll get a Porky spirit for the Mother 2 30th Anniversary.
There was a spirit event for the Mother Series 30th Anniversary in 2019 which added new spirits from the series, but no Porky. It's like they were actively avoiding him.
I always saw it as the Absolutely Safe Capsule spirit was intended to be Porky, they just used the wrong sprite for it.
I don't think they'd avoid Porky content just for a joke.
He was a boss in Brawl which was after Mother 3 had come out, and had a trophy and item in SSB4.

Mickey has a new moveset. Musketeer Mickey has some fire emblem moves but he's more floaty and small. Epic Mickey has some Inkling moves. The King fights mostly like Yoda but some of the specials are replaced with KH spells.
DV has a new moveset and an annakin skin. His forward tilt is him walking dramatically while stormtroopers behind him fire lasers ahead of him. I tried to have as few humans as possible to make this less gay and more fun, so I choose some aliens for the other two.
"Why three KH characters and they're all sort of Sora?" Coincidence. I wanted to give Sora a new Moveset based on KH2, but I still like the old moveset and I know alot of people do. So I gave that to Xion, with only a few changes. If you played the ds game days you know she fights alot like sora in kh1. Also I just wanted Roxas in because I like him. He of course is using the two keyblades. Alot of his non special moves are shared with Sasha.
Toad Team is Sasha Waybright and Grime. Down b to switch in between them. Sahsa shares some moves with Roxas. Grime has some of dedede's moves and some from other heavy hitters like Bowser and K Rool. Braddock and Percy can show up in victory screens. Also of course Sasha and grime have different skins based on different seasons. Alot of characters have different unlockable skins.
The Plantars is sort of like ice climbers mixed with zelda/shiek. Team one you play as Anne with Sprig as support, press down b and you switch to playing as Hop Pop with Polly as support. Also Bessie and Microangelo are in some of the victory screens. Obviously it's not exactly like ice climbers, all the Plantars do different moves. It's only like the ice climbers because there is two on screen at once. Not every move has them both attacking. Spranne has some moves where sprig shoots his slingshot, but also some moves where Anne uses her sword. Hop Pop can punch and use his tongue, but not at the same time as Polly uses random weapons like spiked balls on chains. If you win a match using only one of the teams, that's who it will say in the victory screen. Spranne or Polly Pop(sometimes Hopolly). Of course if you switch at any time during the match the victory screen will say the Plantars.
Abu has some of diddy kong's moves. That is part of why he was chosen, and partly because he's not another human. Smash has too many humans.
Rapunzel and Eugene have new movesets. Maximus is a part of Eugene's and Pascal plays a minor part in Raps's. They are based on their season three versions and Raps has a frying pan. Eugene has a shortsword. Also they would have to do some special programming for Rapunzel's hair so it like leaves a trail behind her but she can also use it for stuff. They can do it. And they both have movie skins unlocked at the start to appeal to normies and "punzie" gays.
Cassandra has many fire emblem moves. Possibly Link's bow. Maybe some new halberd moves thrown in there too like for smashes. And Owl might get to join in too. She's based on season 1/2
There is also a Cassandra boss fight based on her with powers in season three. Obviously these powers couldn't be a part of regular gameplay because they would permanently change the layout of the stage every single time you use them. Even if you want to say she can just withdraw the rocks after every attack which she would never bother to do, they would still leave holes behind. And you can't say they can come from the background because the sort of defeats the purpose of them and plus not all stages have things in the background they can come out of. Some stages are just floating platforms. Anyway, the boss fight involves platforming and stuff while she makes more rocks while you carefully avoid the pointy ends. All the while she is relentlessly trying to kill you. If you can get to her she has alot of hp and armor but her head is sort of a weak point, in that it's not a strong point. Like it's not extra armored, but it's not weaker than other characters either.
Hulk had to be in there, he's the Hulk. He has some of Donkey Kong's moves but he's taller and much stronger so you want to avoid these. Maybe the claps and shit will take longer to charge up or something?
Cap obviously has the projectile protection thing on his front and it's a little bigger than Link's. His side b is a very very quick shield throw but less damage and knockback than one that needs to be charged up a little more.
I removed young spider-man because I no longer like him. Besides who knows if his invisibility power would even be too op or not? It could be idk.
Iron Monger has Bowser's flamethrower, Samus's missiles and ROB's rocket boost. He is also by far the most heavy character ever in smash, like a hundred times heavier than the heaviest before. However the more hits he takes the more pieces of armor come off of him, which makes him lighter. Also the more pieces of armor that come off the more percent damage he takes per hit. at the start of the match he barely takes any. At the end he probably take more than anyone else.
Why cat instead of bug? Because Lucky Charm would be hard to make, plus every time she uses her other power it would heal everyone who got hit by any bad guy. So anyway, there was a choice between Black Panther and Cat Noir. They're too similar to have both. So I chose Cat Noir because we don't need any more fricking marvel plus it would be a fun gimmick. Neutral b activates his power and the next attack you d with your hands does massive devastating damage to somebody. Then you have a few minutes before you have to transform back into Adrien(you can do this early by pressing neutral b again if you want) and you are super duper vulnerable in this state. Almost any move can insta kill you, but don't worry you're still pretty agile and you can fight back with some weaker moves. Anyway you just have to wait for Plagg to finish eating then you can turn back into Cat noir. Your final smash would be plagg himself using cataclysm. That might change the stage a little or just destroy it and make you go to another stage? idk
I put that baby in because I thought it would be fun to beat a baby, plus I figured why not give disney sitcoms a rep? There were a lot of them and they were a big part of disney channel. That baby might not be the best choice but at least he(or she idk) is a little more unique than just a regular fully grown person. The first baby in smash, besides pichu. Might switch this out with that b***h from wizards of waverly place though, idk.
I figured they would insist either Peter Griffin or Homer Simpson be in the game, and I chose peter for two reasons. One, Homer's iconic move would be choking right? And they wanted to phase that out so they wouldn't let him do that in a kid's game, so if he can't even do what he's known for why bother? And two peter griffin already fights sometimes I believe, against that giant chicken. Alot of characters didn't make it in because they don't fight like at all. But Peter does and I don't think Homer does, but idk for sure I haven't really watched those shows.

Ironically Link and Zelda have new movesets. Link can now do more shit from Breath of the Wild. He can glide similar to peach and daisy, but at an angle using his paraglider. Bomb is now neutral b, bow is up b and he can sort of hang in the air a bit when he uses it in the air. By crouching for a bit then jumping he can summon revali's gale which can launch high percnt enemies upwards. His boomerang is now a triblade lizal boomerang, and if he attacks just as it comes back or just before it leaves he can swing that instead of his master sword. It has more damage but less reach. Down smash is spin attack. Mipha's grace can save him once if he gets to a ridiculessly high percentage without dying. Maybe down b can be daruuk's protection and if someone hits it it will make them vulnerable momentarily? Also it can reflet projectiles back at them. If he runs out of the three daruuk protections he can stil use this move but it's a sheild parry and it has way more strict timing. Eventually daruuk will regenerate. In the air some of his moves are different elemental weapons. like back air is a quick slice with an ice broadsword, forward air is fire. up air is a thunder one and down air is the same as in ultimate, unless he's moving forward enough at the same time then it becomes a downward slash that smashes n the ground. Maybe some of his tilts or smashes can be spears? And his side smash could maybe be a greatsword. idk. His final smash is the same
Zelda now uses the bow of light and that little sword she had. She still has some sealing power and stuff. She can maybe summon Epona who functions similarly to Maximus, but with a different, more graceful animation of riding her. Also Zelda may keep one or two of her magic spells but it will be different color and stuff. I just want her to be more accurate and more cool and graceful
Beast can maybe borrow grabbing moves from bowser and ridley. If you just press the button he will do a sort of bowser like side b, but if you hold it he will drag the enemy like ridley does.
Gaston can have a double barrel shotgun and neutral/side tilt fires it. He will reload and you can use it again. It is of course much stronger at close. Reloading only takes a moment, but you're are still vulnerable during that. He can have some other hunting moves. Also maybe he and that dude from tarazan who shoots gorillas can be like a simon/richtor situation.
Tarazan is quick and agile and bouncy and has an original moveset with spears that he can stab or throw.
