Was Pandemic 2 on Kongregate? I think I might have played it there but forget if that's actually where I did. Haven't thought about Kongregate in a hot minute.
I have no clue how those sites are still up, how are they making money? Except for NG maybe, it always had some dedicated users, but what about the rest?
>Armor Games still exists as a publisher for actually really good indies >Newgrounds still exists as a niche underground content website >Kongregate sold out to NFTgays and its a shadow of its former self
Flash dying was the beginning of the end.
Much like an outdated console, Flash slowly got replaced with Unity garbage. Then flash died, browsers stopped supporting and it all went downhill.
Now you have bloated garbage with Unity and the only games you can play online are itch io demos
I remember there being a puzzle game on ArmorGames, and 2 of the puzzles were an internet check (open the same flash game in a different window and refresh the page multiple times),
and a Time Setting puzzle where you had to set it before a certain time in the 90's.
Anyone know the name of the game? had to copy and paste this from /vg/ because i remember typing it out.
No, you loathe growing up in a time where Apple killed Flash and Adobe willingly helped them. Update Mozilla? Not if it means I can't use Flash natively.
Shitty reboot, veradux isn't a zombie anymore, everything from 2 got removed, sprites aren't animated, there's a guy who's literally a commissar from WH40K, etc
IIRC Stamper is probably on hard drugs and burned a lot of bridges with other creators. It seems like most work he gets now is from pity hires or bit roles.
Well, he definitely acts like it, and too much to be just doing a bit.

IIRC it was either Tom Fulp himself or one of the other big name Newgrounds OG inner circle peeps who confirmed it so I'd say it's credible and not just a rrat.

Since when do Gankeredditors use/vt/ranny lingo
letting people install whatever programs they find on the internet is also a security nightmare. the web shouldn't be restricted based on the potential moronation of tech illiterate boomers and zoomers
the issue with flash is that it led to getting people pwned even without installing anything more than flash for example. if you didn't updoot you could get fricked by browsing the internet and stumbling upon a website that loaded something with flash and fricked your pc
>Flash, a cornerstone of internet culture, was killed for Web 3.0slop, smartphoneslop, and consooming bugs and s.o.y.lent
We live in dark times
unless you talk about the old web 3.0 (semantic web LMFAO), which I assume you don't, web 3.0 was a decade after that. mobile phones killed flash that's pretty much it
>come home from school >do homework (I'm a good boy) >get on computer >play some runescape >get bored >go on nitrome, ng, mofunzone, miniclip, 2dplay, crazymonkeygames, flashportal, armorgames, gamepapa, kongregate and some weird site that hosted games made by koreans
Simpler times I tell ya.
back when people wanted to make games for passion not greed. Now it's easier than ever to make a game, but most don't wanna bother because the first thought in everyone's mind is "how can I sell this?"
Do you guys remember when big-name flash games began to paywall some of their content? Like Last Stand: Union City and Sinjid? I didn't think about it much at the time, but I think that was the beginning of the end.
It was the start of the mobile era and everyone saw how well shit like Farmville and other garbage paywall games did, so they had to emulate them to make five bucks total at most. It truly was the beginning of the end.
There are tons of free games on itchio, gamejolt and newgrounds, made by devs making games for fun. They even have game jams, making games in 2 days for the sake of doing it.
You just turned yourself into a AAAonly tard.
yeah but those are basically all just demos. all the free games are either artificially stripped so you buy their steam game, or it's a game jam that you finish in an hour. flash games used to be full games for free that took a day to complete
a lot of them are basically the in development version before they release on early access on steam
usually its more than a demo and like 80% of what they end up releasing, which if you regularly go there is basically the most recent version, obviously if you go on there and play games that have been out on steam for a year its just a very stripped down version but its slightly different
usually they put it out on itch to see if people like it, get feedback, and see if its worth continuing to develop it because people actually had a good time
tried checking on some people that made those video games now
many are disappeared, or just having a life
some few people still release stuffs on steam and newgrounds, or already joined some dev studio. good for them
i know you aren't supposed to do this, but i didn't expect anyone else here to have played that game; mind telling me your username? we probably fought together
Yeah when you put it that way, it fricking hurts. Everything now is for money or monetization, I miss the pre sanitized internet, too bad normalgays and femoids had to ruin it for us. I made a couple of really shitty flash games I won't name because who cares but damn, we really did live in the better days of the internet compared to the trash people are subjected to nowadays.
1. they were making them for money, website ads were still a thing
2. for people that weren't adults, they made them for free because they were in high school/college
The day flash died a part of me did. I remember waking up and playing the new flash games from kongregate/armor games/ newgrounds, the tool quality of the games might have improved but, like youtube, the soul is gone.
It's always have been up to us to continue its legacy. I've always wanted to have a Ganker-makes-games fest of sorts and have it archived somewhere so people will know that the soul isn't gone, there's just nowhere for it to flourish
I'd rather to do it for Ganker than /vg/. Anons here need to know about games and not be depressed about the vidya most of the time. It's one of the reasons why I always tell anons to tune in to Ganker3.
For me, it was the one counter strike game that ran on unity. Those FPS games that ran on unity had a much bigger player base than I remembered for some reason.
>Go to the amateur game devs threads >How do I make people want to buy my game >What's a good price for my game >What's the best type of game to make money >My game is not selling what do I do
god it fricking hurts
>tfw literally the only way NOT to be a wienerroach tier slave in the modern dystopian reality forever are either winning the lottery, making a successful video game or becoming a tiktok influencer
every day i pray for a nuclear apocalypse that would purge the world of this rot
And it wasn't just games either. It was all forms of entertainment. Zoomies today defend shit by saying >well it has to be shit because of the algorithm. If they didn't make shit, you would have no content at all!
Don't even understand that the success of modern internet creators is built off the backs of people who did it out of passion for free.
When I was 7, my 10 year old sister and I played some mario flashgame that started with an edited version of this with Peach going off screen and coming back covered in white fluid. Mario may have cum so hard he had also cummed all over himself, not quite sure about that.
We were confused about what was supposed to have happened but the memory stuck to this day.
wasnt this an animation where she goes down on him??
Anyone remember Boxhead?
I remember sinking a lot of hours into those games.
It's time.
I never forgot
Kongergate, Armor Games, Newgrounds, wetpussygames, gamesofdesire
For me it was anything by Nitrome. I was so bummed when they jumped ship to mobile early in the mass migration. Still need to try the SHovel Knight game they did.
I loved Nitrome so much, maybe I'll spend tonight replaying old favorites like Rustyard, Off the Rails and the one you posted. Hearing the music alone makes me feel warm inside.
I was definitely very into nitrome as a kid back then, back then I took for granted how diverse in gameplay their games were but now I'm grown up I can appreciate them a little bit more
I don't get why they're just converting all their free flash games to HTML5 extremely slowly. Why not sell them on steam and make lots of money? Why ask flashpoint to take them down if you're going to do nothing with them yourself?
Creeper world? There are at least two commercial games for that now.
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/1984/Knuckle_Cracker_Universal_Collection/
4 is 3D.
>no one in the known universe that could have possibly fixed it
That's completely believable though, it tends to happen with decades old software and big companies, it's piles upon piles of spaghetti developed by many different people and at some point it becomes nearly unmaintainable
Genuinely, this series is peak JRPG, and I've played a good amount of Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. >it's not Japanese tho-
It's a JRPG to me, dammit.
>Stick RPG 2
That was good but the fourth island in the full version completely broke the game progession. It should've been locked until you've completed the main quest at the very least.
Holy shit, i remember playing that game when i was kid, i had spent a good 2-4 hours getting a lot of the gear, unfortunately my dad had to take me my mother's workplace because he had to go to work and i had completely forgot about the name of this game even though i wanted to play it so bad for the longest time.
thanks for unlocking a long lost memory friend.
Zoomers really don't know how good we had it back then.
Between free flash games sites and warcraft 3 custom games, we had so much shit to pick and play.
8yo me played Frank's adventure 3, front to back, on my dad's gateway PC... in front of my 6 and 4yo sisters.
None of us recognized it for what it was and I never got called on it, but I have a core fricking memory re: thinking there was something really weird about the pics women rewarded you with. I really liked the series too, very fully featured with all the minigames and RPG elements
When I was 7, my 10 year old sister and I played some mario flashgame that started with an edited version of this with Peach going off screen and coming back covered in white fluid. Mario may have cum so hard he had also cummed all over himself, not quite sure about that.
We were confused about what was supposed to have happened but the memory stuck to this day.
i remember playing some kind of RPG with my sister, and one of the scenes involved you spying on a kid jerking off. i had no idea what was happening, but i knew something was wrong about it
From the top of my head I used to love Mud 'n Blood 2, Caravaneer and that boxhead zombie killing game (was it just Boxhead?) in Kongregate. Honorable mention for 1066, Gemcraft and that one top-down game where you tried to prevent vehicles from getting past you by shooting balls to push the vehicles to walls and other vehicles and I think it was Kongregate where I played a fun, simple Trials sort of game with a bicycle and unicycle.
The Sonny games, The Last Stand games, Age of War and Raze were what I remember from Armor Games.
Good times. I've forgotten so many of the games I liked.
Use flashpoint or find a flash projector and download the .swf files.
https://archive.org/download/armorgames
Unfortunately some of the .swf files are locked to the site only, so not all of them will work.
>shut down forums >no longer accepting new games >stop making achievements >stop making kongpanions >everybody leaves and the site withers up and dies >... >start accepting new games again >make new achievements again >make new kongpanions again
What the absolute frick were they thinking?
Fricking loved this game. Would always play it with my brother. Iirc it was pretty nicely balanced difficulty, too. Or at least it seemed that way as a kid. I definitely would get my shit pushed in sometimes.
>3rd game immediately skips to modern 19th century guns + magic instead of pike and shot magic era >art style change to something more chibi and anime inspired
What the frick was the developer thinking?
I used to hang in the chill lounge.
There was a girl there that I had a bit of a crush on who according to the profile was around my age, but being a product of strict internet upbringing I practiced good opsec and never spoke to her beyond the chatroom itself.
Probably was a dude anyway.
This thread reminds me : >6th grade >after school always hang out on computer in classroom because i had to stay late >play flash games etc >there was this girl from the high school who would hang around >she was a weeb otaku and probably a fujo looking back, but i didnt know about any of that stuff meant back then >would always talk about how cute and adorable i am >called me "chibi" >really friendly but always made me kind of uncomfortable >she ended up getting arrested for child molestation years later
I thought this game was a fricking fever dream I had. The fricking thousand yard stare on the player model, random people popping into your server and scaring the shit out of you. Shit was fricking creepy. I played this game for about a week and stopped because playing it made me physically ill.
I met my life-long friend in this game. We played it daily and even bought memberships. Hosted servers with custom textures ripped from OOT. I liked the game, but I did not like playing this shit alone. The fricking bug that caused your player model to get stuck in a spot and jumps care you when you stepped away from it made me nervous as hell. I also didn't like playing it for too long as the game would make me dizzy.
I played this because my mom wouldn't buy me Minecraft. I remember playing on a custom server that had textures taken from Portal. Servers were a barren wasteland though, even custom ones.
Gonna agree with previous posts about the game making me feel sick. Everyone I knew that played it had the same problems. Probably had something to do with the shitty framerate.
>Game is fun but quiet and empty >Play it for a month >Bought by Uphers who added MTX to the game >Game immediately dies and goes offline 2 weeks later
>a decade ago you get a bunch of ads on the pre-load screen for the entire game uninterrupted >now modern phone games putting ads in every single fricking level and put microtransactions everywhere
Frick this timeline man, I wish kids know how good flash games are back then.
Flash was never even designed to be used for games. It was software for embedding animations and multimedia sequences into web pages. The fact that you could implement buttons and custom keyboard inputs was an afterthought at worst and a concession to the level of seamlessness they were aiming to achieve with it at best.
Shockwave was designed for lightweight games, and it was immensely powerful. Websites were implementing full 3d games with streaming audio and relatively high resolution textures in a relatively compact package that even the last versions of Flash didn't provide to the most competent of developers. "Sweettarts 3D Game" was a 1:1 implementation of Kula Kula World on PS1, but with better textures. PS1 quality games were being distributed for free and run on pretty shabby hardware without serious problems on Shockwave. If it wasn't for Adobe buying Macromedia out, we could have had the majority of HTML5 functionality at least 15 years ahead of time.
Bluemaxima's Flashpoint has a bunch of games and every version of Flash, Shockwave Player, and a whole host of obscure web platforms you've probably forgotten. There's a lot of shit you would think was lost to time because it's not compatible with Windows anymore, but it's all there and working. Only the most obscure of the obscure is really missing at this point, and if you manage to find it yourself, it is possible to download and run on the versions of the players they provide. There are a ton of them, including some really obscure ones, too. There are proprietary slideshow viewers from Web 1.0, weird 3D scan viewer software, ActiveX, 3D Groove, the format PopCap distributed its demos in. This is the whole list, and it of course includes Shockwave.
BUT BUT BUT THE MASSIVE SECURITY ISSUE THINK OF THE ADDICTINGGAMES ACCOUNTS WHO WERE HACKED INTO AND USED TO WRITE RUDE COMMENTS
FLASH SHUTDOWN WAS NECESSARY, CHUD
It had a bunch of arbitrary code execution bugs that any seedy website could exploit and take control of your computer by just loading the site, because Flash ran automatically when pages loaded. It wasn't just hacked accounts, if a malicious actor took control of certain trusted websites for a few hours, they could turn the fancy animated banner that ran on Flash into a package to deploy a RAT and gain control of critical systems in banks, government institutions and major businesses.
>backlots
Frick this game felt amazing to be back then. I also spent a lot of time playing the bionicle gladiator games, the fact that I could play actual 3D games for free through a website felt insane to me all these years ago
oh frick yeah man. that blew my mind at the time; I was like six or seven when I played it.
Lego had a bunch of really cool shockwave games, like Junkbot and the Bionicle point and clicks
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I don't remember this game at all. But I fricking remember that achievement screen.
Frick this game, frick that impossible achievement.
Aw frick lad I forgot Luminara's name. I went back to find it a couple times throughout the years and never could. Who knew all I had to do was look into my old acheivements on my kong account
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I don't remember this game at all. But I fricking remember that achievement screen.
Frick this game, frick that impossible achievement.
Monster Den. I saw the achievement and had flashbacks of going for it numerous times.
took a while to dig through it. looks like this is it though. I remember when I got it too, was playing this game at my grandparents house on my grandfather's computer. The funny thing is that hard acheivement I got in 2018, 9 years later when I decided to go back and play it again for nostalgias sake. And now we are almost as far from that point as it was from the beginning.
Anyone remember a certain tower defense game from Newground. >setting was you are a general in command of an army. >Units are mostly humans >medieval setting >somber BGM >units get upgraded during stage (ex: Archer to ranger, soldier to knight to paladin and so on) with impact on it's function. >indepth skill tree which carries over through stages, effectively a persistent leveling system.
please I never finished it.
playing browser game over 20years include flash, i wouldn't say browser game scene is not dead, there's still lot of talented creator
https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=50815
>Kongregate >no Kong >nothing Donkeykong related whatsoever >not a single donkeykong game >not one kong related experience to be offered >NO KONG content of any sort to be HAD >no trace of any donkeykong material of any SORT
There was a Medical School simulator I played that was like the old DOS games. The creator changed the description to keep people updated on the progress on the sequel, but it just stopped one day. I checked in regularly for years after that.
The one I think more people will relate to though is Level Up. A game where every action your character can do had a level associated with it and it was a sort of Majora's Mask style loop where you kept increasing your access and ability to interact with the world.
>Wasted Youth 2
Man that is sad to think about, way back then the dev was rambling about how flash was dying and was making the sequel and a remake of the first in 3D(which honestly, did not look good from his screenshots), and then radio silence from 2017 and onward, the dev pratically fricking off from the internet.
It looks like those guns are a pair of 230s, but they definitely don't go out there. I could see rationalizing it as 2 guns and 2 rocket pods being an effective loadout for fighting zombies, but there's also the issue that he has no missiles, despite explicitly using missiles to shoot the player. Frick it, still awesome.
>Be 13 >Boot up miniclip >Square Circle Co >Heli Attack 3 >Play the survival mode against never ending attack helicopters for hours while blasting Aerosmith
>young me >come back from school >hop onto the family computer >kongregare and Armorgames time >dozens and dozens of fun games to play completely for free made by passionate devs: Rebuild, GemCraft, Bubble Tanks, Monsters Den, Bloons, BoxHead, Strike Force Heroes, Raze... >fast forward to today >little nieces want to play games on my computer >all they can play is literal fricking mobile game trash and dress-up games >stumble upon some weird cat game where you need to clean it up, give it first aid, put drops into its eyes etc >get to a stage where a scalpel appears and a line is drawn on its belly >no >start drawing the line across its belly >blood appears >NO >quickly shut the game off while my nieces ask why I turned it off and what happened to the kitty >they still want to play it whenever they see it while I have to say that the cat game is "suspicious" >finally found a site where they could play actual disney games so thats good I guess
Still, it's fricked up how kids today will associate web games with shit like THIS and not the kino we grew up with
these aren't really new, i remember playing surgery games when i was young. the new stuff is way more gruesome though, it's sick that ~~*they*~~ want children to see this imagery
>Dark Orbit, Drakojan Skies, Blackhawk Striker, Epic War series, Armed With Wings series, that series about the bouncing energy ball turret and collision physics to slam enemy tanks around
Shit was so cool. I don't remember so many other things I enjoyed though
Does anyone remember this game that was on ArmorGames that was a sidescroller where you could be I think a knight, archer or mage and had to defend a castle from monsters? I had fun with it especially since it was online multiplayer
Oh, I never played this
But nope, it wasn't a moba. The closest thing I could compare it to would be a sidescrolling flash version of Dungeon Defenders
There was this game where you land on different planets to mine stuff with a vehicle, which I liked but I forgot what it was called. They made a second part, too.
anyone here remember CLOUT: THE GAME? it was a ludo text based satirical mmo where every player was a congressman in the USA and you could pass bills which affected a simulation of the country by using abilities such as "Think Of The Children" and "Invoke Prior Military Service"
it had a tonne of political parties with different objectives and you could actually win the MMO by passing your parties "victory bill" which would then reset the game
https://clout-the-game.fandom.com/wiki/The_Cloutiverse_Wiki
it was awesome, until the developer Delosford had an actual schizo meltdown and got the game banned from kongregate, it was on facebook for a while afterwards. if you can find the CLOUT forums you can see his schizoposts where he thought feds and scientologists were attacking him for undermining the USA or something
Oh, I remember this game and I played it too
Cool idea, but I think I remember the country economy was being fricked by new players spamming the only couple low-level bills they had access to
Are any of the flash superstars doing anything these days? I know the Mardek guy went insane but what about the Sinjid guy, jtmb02, the Bowmaster guy, the Epic battle fantasy guy, and all the other really talented people? The only success story I can think of is Bloons.
>Epic battle fantasy guy
He made a final one that has a collection of every previous one and put it on steam 4 years ago and it sold decently, and the creator pops up to celebrate the anniversary whenever that comes around
>jtmb02
I was just going to say he released The Elephant Collection on Steam last year, but I just saw that he’s working on a Kickstarter to make more Flash games apparently
http://kck.st/4bT4YYx
I wish achievements functioned like Kongregate's badge system. Each game having no more than 4 badges at least meant the requirements are more likely to be meaningful than just "reach checkpoint #1-10."
Edmund was kind of ahead of the time releasing this as early as 2012, only recently are other devs following suit and making their own collection of their old flash games.
God, I miss flash games. It was fun to just come home, go to a myriad of websites that hosted flash games, and just have access to 100's of games for free at your fingertips. A lot of them were really fun, even fapped to some of the sex ones and they still managed to be fun. Ganguro Girls, Love Hina SIM, Sex Kitten, Meet and Frick games were really hot to me as a teenager despite the weird proportions. A lot of my high school faps and sex drive was fueled by flash games now that I think about it.
Any pro gamers here who've played Sonny 2?
I've read that there is a hidden zone that you can unlock only if you beat the game on highest difficulty and without repeating boss battles or using training battles.
I gave my best shot but got stuck at the ZPCI guys at the end of the second zone playing as biological? Any tips?
oh yeah one more thing, if you're gonna play it on ruffle on newgrounds you should know the tech room at the very end is bugged and doesn't work. i just played it because i recognized it and haven't played it in a long time and got fricked.
I remember Nitrome the most because all it's games had the same distinct art style.
I never knew why though. Did they just employ the same designer guy or did they make it part of the brand?
I wonder if Tom is ever horrified that this game he made to be edgy and vent about Columbine ended up becoming timeless to generations beyond him due to reoccurring mass shooting incidents.
Anyone remember the name of the top-down shooter series that played a lot like hotline miami?
They went through many different time periods like WWII, modern, and future.
nitrome games were alright but they comitted to their shitty gimmicks too much
they have good art and such but they were usually just very restrictive and boring puzzle games
If you're talking about pico's school then 1: it wasn't the first flash game, and 2: he wasn't a school shooter, he was defending his school from school shooters.
That's nice to know. Honestly tempted to not login for this very reason. It's not like there's anymore use for it these days. I'll miss my badges though. Probably have more than everyone here combined.
>kids these days will never experience the joy of secretly playing flash games during computer class or at any time computers were involved in a class assignment
i remember secretly playing some game in computing class where you play as a sperm trying to fertilize a woman, it wasn't actually pornographic it was just a random game, the teacher saw me and made me describe the game to the class, i was like 11 years old lmao
Here is list of game i enjoyed (many of them's are finished)
Commando series
Thing thing series
Chibitami's tohou flash
Project nexus
Road of the dead series
Combat heaven series
Tanaka U games
Jmtb02 games
Shinjid Sow
Endlesswar series
Siftheads series
Xiaoxiao 2,6,9
Tanaka U
Armadillo knight series
And some other 1000+games
Playing tons of flash game was proudest moment of my life and it was fun it took 20years finish
Mofunzone was responsible for introducing me to porn through one of the links on the side. I can still picture the grainy, low res, dark footage perfectly in my mind.
>parents were grumps who only let me go on websites that were “kid friendly” (please ignore that my first video game was Doom at 4 years old) >spent all my time as a kid on coolmathgames, Lego.com, and homestarrunner.com instead of newgrounds, miniclip, or armor games and that one time I accidentally found the Demented Cartoon Movie >watching everyone else at school getting to play Heli Attack or Runescape at lunch while I was playing puzzle games, Lego flash games, or watching Homestar Runner cartoons >eventually a filter was installed on the school internet so everyone was stuck in my boat anyways, but it was finicky and could be circumvented by just trying to go to a website until it let you through
I eventually got into Newgrounds and the like once I was a teenager but I don’t quite have the same nostalgia as a result for those did Stinkoman 20X6 ever actually get that level 10 update before Flash died?
i was really young and i couldn't really read or write at this point but i remember some weird social MMO that was grafitti themed
you would have your character and then there would be the wall or train or whatever you could tag
i remember it being public the things you tagged
it was 2d as well
i dont know if it was a game from my country or what but i liked all the weird social MMO games that were back then
it was interesting just getting on the internet and searching for games and finding new shit every single day
But but but it was a ~~*massive security issue*~~! Just imagine what those dirty hackers could do with your AddictingGames account hacked into. They could probably write mean comments
Can we just go back to the early-mid 2000s? Even the late 2000s? >all those flash games and movies >just after the 90s so all the classics are still around to play if you want to play OoT/Majora’s Mask >Warcraft 3 custom games because Blizzard still didn’t suck at the time >the endless list of good games from the GC/PS2/Xbox generation to enjoy >so many good FPS games to play on PC old and new alike >Gamefaqs arguing over whether FF7 or OoT was better >DLC was very rare and usually more along the line of huge expansion packs >MMOs hit their peak >No micro transactions >mobile games were small arkanoid clones or the like instead of the gacha hell >the endless speculation over the 360/PS3/Revolution and the jokes made when the Revolution’s real name was revealed
And then even then late 2000s-very early 2010s were still good >still a ton of good games all over the place for every console >that hype over the FF7 opening cutscene for the PS3 even though it never amounted to anything >the Super Smash Bros Brawl hype season where every day could be anything from nothing to a character announcement and the internet F5’d every day for that reason >indie was still a term used for really bad movies instead of a term used for games that have more than a 10% chance to not suck >DS having actual online as a handheld so I could trade Pokemon worldwide >StarCraft 2 hype
Fricking hell I have tears in my eyes
Now all we have are AAA ripoffs, failed reboots and sequels, and Chinese bootleg ripoffs that make more money than god
BUT BUT BUT THE MASSIVE SECURITY ISSUE THINK OF THE ADDICTINGGAMES ACCOUNTS WHO WERE HACKED INTO AND USED TO WRITE RUDE COMMENTS
FLASH SHUTDOWN WAS NECESSARY, CHUD
I got an email from them this morning.
When they got bought out by gamestop I pretty much stopped going there, it immediately turned to shit, unsurprisingly.
it was always my favorite flash site and the last one I really enjoyed using though.
Armorgames was full of Black folk who stole other games, that's how they got their start (Look up "Games of Gondor"), newgrounds was okay but a total clique shithole like gamegays
I remember playing this surprisingly detailed but still shitty 3d game that was like Battlefield. For some reason everyone was bald in that game and you had to buy the guns. I don't remember the name of it, all I remember is everyone wore red and black armor and it was an online PVP game on a military base.
Anyone here used FoxKids when it had a website? I'm trying to remember this one flash cartoon that was about a war between meats and vegetables. That ring any bells?
Help me Gankerros >Halloween/horror JRPG flash game >protagonist is a dude that got killed by his dad or something >comes back as a revenant to enact his revenge >has a carved pumpkin for a head >takes place in various settings, some hedge mazes or some shit >anime-lite artstyle
Back when I was like 8, I made some simple animations with it. My 10 year old brother also did some simple games. I'd wager any teenger would have been able to build a proper flash game.
Post my favorites >Balloon in the wasteland
So frickin comfy. Absolutely peak atmosphere. It's also such a decent execution of tower defence where you just keep building and improving your defences while planning your escape.
Things were so fricking good back then it's insane.
All that time playing flash games, then booting up WC3 and playing some custom games...
All that user-created free content and now it's fricking gone.
One of the first flash games I ever played was on onemorelevel.com. It was some kind of rail-shooter where you had to defend one of those castles from super mario world by shooting at stuff trying to knock it down. God i hope someone knows what the frick I'm talking about.
>Remember all those stick man animations >"Oh yeah, there was that castle series, I remember it ending in a cliffhanger, I wonder if it's finished now?"
>used to spend hours on stickpage >site is still up but nothing works >stick figure animations and games as a whole have been dead for longer than flash
What happened?
The card game they developed was fun.
I miss Kongai bro
>implying I forgot
>FOX BEARD
i remember this being such a good game but apparently it was shit since it bugs out and none of my units can move anymore, and the enemy just taunts
>see Kongregate, Armor Games or Newgrounds logo
Yep, it's time for flashkino.
Was Pandemic 2 on Kongregate? I think I might have played it there but forget if that's actually where I did. Haven't thought about Kongregate in a hot minute.
Oh yeah.
Yeah, it was
I have no clue how those sites are still up, how are they making money? Except for NG maybe, it always had some dedicated users, but what about the rest?
Armor games is republishing some of their classics on steam and publishing some newer stuff by small time devs
>armor games
Man now that's a frickin flashback (heh).
>Crush the Castle
>Hands of War trilogy
>Book of Mages II
>Swords and Sandals
Spent so much time on these.
>Armor Games still exists as a publisher for actually really good indies
>Newgrounds still exists as a niche underground content website
>Kongregate sold out to NFTgays and its a shadow of its former self
The beginning of the end were clicker and idle games.
Flash dying was the beginning of the end.
Much like an outdated console, Flash slowly got replaced with Unity garbage. Then flash died, browsers stopped supporting and it all went downhill.
Now you have bloated garbage with Unity and the only games you can play online are itch io demos
these frickers got hacked and were the reason i got shitty spam emails for like 5 years
>got hacked, and leaked my password which caused a different unrelated game account to get hacked a decade later...
t-thanks
For me it was Andkon and CrazyMonkeyGames
>Last updated: Sept 2012
I remember there being a puzzle game on ArmorGames, and 2 of the puzzles were an internet check (open the same flash game in a different window and refresh the page multiple times),
and a Time Setting puzzle where you had to set it before a certain time in the 90's.
Anyone know the name of the game?
had to copy and paste this from /vg/ because i remember typing it out.
I loathe being an adult
No, you loathe growing up in a time where Apple killed Flash and Adobe willingly helped them. Update Mozilla? Not if it means I can't use Flash natively.
>There was an era where people made games every single day not for money or fame but for fun
Take me back bros
>Remember Sony the Zombie
That game had more soul and passion put into it than all of current AAA combined
Also better turn based combat than many RPGs
IT WAS FRICKING KINOOO AAAA WHY CAN'T WE HAVE MORE OF THAAT!!!!
Do NOT look up what happened to the Sonny series
Not even joking
What? I just saw that Sonny 3 is in dev hell.
unironically a better game than 90% of new releases
That's how you know you were living in a golden age.
I liked Sonny. What did happen with the third one? Wasn't it something like turned into a freemium phone app?
Shitty reboot, veradux isn't a zombie anymore, everything from 2 got removed, sprites aren't animated, there's a guy who's literally a commissar from WH40K, etc
The OG dark souls.
The irony is that you can meet half those dudes in prison now.
qrd?
IIRC Stamper is probably on hard drugs and burned a lot of bridges with other creators. It seems like most work he gets now is from pity hires or bit roles.
Stamper is a confirmed meth head
Well, he definitely acts like it, and too much to be just doing a bit.
IIRC it was either Tom Fulp himself or one of the other big name Newgrounds OG inner circle peeps who confirmed it so I'd say it's credible and not just a rrat.
>rrat
Since when do Gankeredditors use/vt/ranny lingo
Meth
Last title was four years ago.
Stamper is recovering and is just shitposting on Youtube now.
His channel however, got terminated.
>Come home from school

unlive yourself
no i don't think i will
>please by all means ignore my posts while I choke on wiener
Of course.
words are not buzzwords just because you don't understand them, anon
tbf it was also a security nightmare
letting people install whatever programs they find on the internet is also a security nightmare. the web shouldn't be restricted based on the potential moronation of tech illiterate boomers and zoomers
the issue with flash is that it led to getting people pwned even without installing anything more than flash for example. if you didn't updoot you could get fricked by browsing the internet and stumbling upon a website that loaded something with flash and fricked your pc
unless you talk about the old web 3.0 (semantic web LMFAO), which I assume you don't, web 3.0 was a decade after that. mobile phones killed flash that's pretty much it
So true, Steve Jobs. Thank god flash got taken down before my AddictingGames account was hacked
pretty much
Anyone and everyone who made popular flash games went on to work in an industry of some kind
That was also early youtube
People made money for fun. there were no ads and no money to be gained for a while
The consequences of the iPhone on Flash gaming was fricking disgusting.
>come home from school
>do homework (I'm a good boy)
>get on computer
>play some runescape
>get bored
>go on nitrome, ng, mofunzone, miniclip, 2dplay, crazymonkeygames, flashportal, armorgames, gamepapa, kongregate and some weird site that hosted games made by koreans
You just turned yourself into a AAAonly tard.
yeah but those are basically all just demos. all the free games are either artificially stripped so you buy their steam game, or it's a game jam that you finish in an hour. flash games used to be full games for free that took a day to complete
a lot of them are basically the in development version before they release on early access on steam
usually its more than a demo and like 80% of what they end up releasing, which if you regularly go there is basically the most recent version, obviously if you go on there and play games that have been out on steam for a year its just a very stripped down version but its slightly different
usually they put it out on itch to see if people like it, get feedback, and see if its worth continuing to develop it because people actually had a good time
tried checking on some people that made those video games now
many are disappeared, or just having a life
some few people still release stuffs on steam and newgrounds, or already joined some dev studio. good for them
>tfw will never be able to play War of the Web against other flash sites again
i know you aren't supposed to do this, but i didn't expect anyone else here to have played that game; mind telling me your username? we probably fought together
Yeah when you put it that way, it fricking hurts. Everything now is for money or monetization, I miss the pre sanitized internet, too bad normalgays and femoids had to ruin it for us. I made a couple of really shitty flash games I won't name because who cares but damn, we really did live in the better days of the internet compared to the trash people are subjected to nowadays.
fame or monetization*
https://itch.io/games/new-and-popular/free
1. they were making them for money, website ads were still a thing
2. for people that weren't adults, they made them for free because they were in high school/college
>"they did it for fun!"
>all the big newsground e-celebs used their fame to become popular and work in the industry
yeah...
you can gain success by doing something you like for fun
The day flash died a part of me did. I remember waking up and playing the new flash games from kongregate/armor games/ newgrounds, the tool quality of the games might have improved but, like youtube, the soul is gone.
It's always have been up to us to continue its legacy. I've always wanted to have a Ganker-makes-games fest of sorts and have it archived somewhere so people will know that the soul isn't gone, there's just nowhere for it to flourish
/agdg/ on /vg/ has regular "Demo Days" where early builds of their games are published for free.
I'd rather to do it for Ganker than /vg/. Anons here need to know about games and not be depressed about the vidya most of the time. It's one of the reasons why I always tell anons to tune in to Ganker3.
What's a Ganker3
E3 but by Ganker.
Flash dying really was a reminder that the internet is becoming a boring, sterile and dull place
For me, it was the one counter strike game that ran on unity. Those FPS games that ran on unity had a much bigger player base than I remembered for some reason.
your not talking about Contract Wars are you?
>Go to the amateur game devs threads
>How do I make people want to buy my game

>tfw literally the only way NOT to be a wienerroach tier slave in the modern dystopian reality forever are either winning the lottery, making a successful video game or becoming a tiktok influencer

>winning the lottery

the most rotten way to get ahead
polite sageru
And it wasn't just games either. It was all forms of entertainment. Zoomies today defend shit by saying
>well it has to be shit because of the algorithm. If they didn't make shit, you would have no content at all!
Don't even understand that the success of modern internet creators is built off the backs of people who did it out of passion for free.
its over
same thing with drawings and mods
i hope everything crashes and burn
They made money from ads. Artists/Devs would also get paid by companies like Armor games to make games for them.
>Kongregate
>Armor Games
>Miniclip
The holy trinity.
No newgrounds? WTF.
Sonny 3 when?
did anyone else play this series
Absolutely suppish.
I miss /f/
I'm still waiting for the third installment...
Hell yeah
I remember playing some MMO Pokémon knockoff on there years ago, forgot the name of it.
Oh, I remember now, it was Terra Monsters Online. Monsters weren't that great, if I remember correctly.
For me it was anything by Nitrome. I was so bummed when they jumped ship to mobile early in the mass migration. Still need to try the SHovel Knight game they did.
I read the thumbnail as anal ninja
I loved Nitrome so much, maybe I'll spend tonight replaying old favorites like Rustyard, Off the Rails and the one you posted. Hearing the music alone makes me feel warm inside.
I was definitely very into nitrome as a kid back then, back then I took for granted how diverse in gameplay their games were but now I'm grown up I can appreciate them a little bit more
I don't get why they're just converting all their free flash games to HTML5 extremely slowly. Why not sell them on steam and make lots of money? Why ask flashpoint to take them down if you're going to do nothing with them yourself?
Feudalism 2 bros where you at
That and caravaneer were some of my favorite flash games
Kongregate was my go-to in college since they were the first to implement cheevos.
Can someone remind me what the name of the game series where you had to link a nexus of towers and fight against the flooding "water"?
Creeper World
Creeper world dev made a sequel not too long ago.
Creeper world? There are at least two commercial games for that now.
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/1984/Knuckle_Cracker_Universal_Collection/
4 is 3D.
We live in a world where Yuzu got DMCA and is continuing on, and Kongregate didn't get DMCA and shut down.
I remember playing the Sniper Assassin games as a young'un. Good times.
Flash just had to go OKAYY it had security issues and there is no one in the known universe that could have possibly fixed it!!!
>no one in the known universe that could have possibly fixed it
That's completely believable though, it tends to happen with decades old software and big companies, it's piles upon piles of spaghetti developed by many different people and at some point it becomes nearly unmaintainable
yeah just imagine what could happen if they hacked into your AddictingGames account… oh no!!!
I'm guessing OP got an email about their updated terms of service as well.
>updated terms of service as well
What's in it?
kek, yep
some privacy shit, didn't read past the notification
Yup, it's gaming time
Genuinely, this series is peak JRPG, and I've played a good amount of Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger.
>it's not Japanese tho-
It's a JRPG to me, dammit.
Play more JRPGs
Hes about to update EBF4 on steam. I think a rework of skills so they act like EBF5?
Back when people weren’t scared of including “good” nazis in games
>Dad walks in on "that" attack
>Got banned from using the computer for over a week
Many of us never played it, anon.
Don't keep us in suspense, homie, what is "that" attack?
surprisingly decent amount of porn
But the easter egg was cool too
i assume anon is talking about the tentacle rape attack a certain enemy uses.
That was hilarious tho.
EBF5 is unironically the best RPG there is.
Should I give 5 a try even if don't remember what happens in 4?
Yea
The story in 5 doesn't connect at all with 4 so you can play through it easily without missing anything
5 is basically a continuity reboot, so it's absolutely safe to play.
It's also the best one by far
For me, it was Andkon
Pure Kino
>wait for every troop to finish shooting it out and die
>start baiting enemies one by one
For me it was Xgen studios.
Also, beat Motherload for the first time a few days ago and had a blast. What an amazing game.
I'm playing Stick RPG 2 now, the full version.
xgen had the best site imo. They didn't have a lot of games but their entire library was solid.
>Stick RPG 2
That was good but the fourth island in the full version completely broke the game progession. It should've been locked until you've completed the main quest at the very least.
For me it was the Men of the West
Mountain Trolls, reportin'
SKELETONS
my Black person
Holy shit, i remember playing that game when i was kid, i had spent a good 2-4 hours getting a lot of the gear, unfortunately my dad had to take me my mother's workplace because he had to go to work and i had completely forgot about the name of this game even though i wanted to play it so bad for the longest time.
thanks for unlocking a long lost memory friend.
I never forgot it, it's the new one. The one to remember is Miniclip because everyone already remembers Newgrounds.
hell yes my homie
10 trillion dead cyber soldiers
Zoomers really don't know how good we had it back then.
Between free flash games sites and warcraft 3 custom games, we had so much shit to pick and play.
I guess there was Helltaker a few years back.
We were confused about what was supposed to have happened but the memory stuck to this day.
i remember playing some kind of RPG with my sister, and one of the scenes involved you spying on a kid jerking off. i had no idea what was happening, but i knew something was wrong about it
wasnt this an animation where she goes down on him??
It was a flash animation
I got in so much trouble when my friend showed me this
RIP Felix Wiesner
>RIP Felix Wiesner
What the frick? Wiesi is dead?
Holy shit, Power Fox was one of the very first flash games I ever played
Swords and Souls was the capstone on the whole era.
Unironically my introduction to Matrix
lmao, my old account still exists.
Also, the site is so fricking ugly now.
Oh what the hell, it still looked like its old self about 6 months ago
And worse yet, those icons were never meant to be stretched to this size, which is painfully obvious
>Armed with wings
Frick that was a kino series
>Kongai
I still remember this broken ass game. Stopped playing after a day
They really should have opted for lower res models, so that they could animate their attacks. Such a waste
Ah yes the old childhood faps
>everything must be designed for phones even a site hosting games made for pc browsers
Why is everything so shitty nowadays?
i blame apple
"mobile-first" design because a depressing amount of the world only browses on their phones
>castaway 2
Man I remember castaway. Never got too far into it though, I remember grinding being pretty rough. Felt to me like a huge game though.
I checked only a few months ago and it had the old design. Now it looks like shitty mobile website.
At least I still have my 15 year old account.
Somehow out of all Newgrounds games, the one that stuck most in my memory, is Pico dating sim
b***h i never forgot.
Kino game time
>free internet games TO THE MAX ! ! !
So anons, is there any good alternative to download and play these games now?
Flashpoint Archive
I was lurking that site. I just wasn't sure if it was legit or not.
Not sure where would be the best place to download them but to play you can download the last standalone flash player
Use flashpoint or find a flash projector and download the .swf files.
https://archive.org/download/armorgames
Unfortunately some of the .swf files are locked to the site only, so not all of them will work.
I was like level 65 on there I think. The death of Flash was a real tragedy.
for me it's the joke meet and frick games
I set an alarm on my phone to use the theme from those games. My buddy heard it and kept trying to figure out where he knows that song from.
I've using the russian song as my ringtone for over 6 years.
Anyone else have a Pavlovian boner when hearing the song?
its a good song as well
>shut down forums

What the absolute frick were they thinking?
Isn't Kongregate in SEA? They're fundamentally moronic is what I'm insinuating by recalling where they're located at.
considering they outsourced everything now, yes. most employees were in California before it turned bad

God damn.
>I've lost so many things...that I don't even remember what they were.
I played this shit after school every day, no one could stand against my army of ninjas
Fricking loved this game. Would always play it with my brother. Iirc it was pretty nicely balanced difficulty, too. Or at least it seemed that way as a kid. I definitely would get my shit pushed in sometimes.

my favourite chatroom was something like "parkour zombies" and my favourite game was everybody edits. i also liked tdp4
I used to hang in the chill lounge.
There was a girl there that I had a bit of a crush on who according to the profile was around my age, but being a product of strict internet upbringing I practiced good opsec and never spoke to her beyond the chatroom itself.
Probably was a dude anyway.

Anyone remember Boxhead?
I remember sinking a lot of hours into those games.
I remember setting up walls of turrets and farming waves for hours.
KINO
Amorphous+ and Elona shooter were the best.
There was also some game I liked where you shot down castles made of 3d blocks that I can't remember the name of.
What game do you think of when you hear this song?
For me, this song always stuck with me
First heard it in Chaos Faction.

trolling in the chat rooms was the highlight of my childhood. i remember doing a pregnancy roleplay with one of the moderators in private chat
i dont think pretending to be pregnant in erotic fashion can be considered trolling
i don't think it was erotic, i was probably roleplaying giving birth and roped the moderator into being the doctor

Does anyone in this thread even know what Cubelands is?
This game was filled to the brim with Brazilians and Hackers. Fun times.
I thought this game was a fricking fever dream I had. The fricking thousand yard stare on the player model, random people popping into your server and scaring the shit out of you. Shit was fricking creepy. I played this game for about a week and stopped because playing it made me physically ill.
All I remember about this shitty game is building a brick house before getting sick and stopping.
>Game is fun but quiet and empty
>Play it for a month
>Bought by Uphers who added MTX to the game

I remember someone linking a stream to their suicide in this game. The few people who played this game were weird.

I never played Sonny cuz the zombie face scared me
>try Elona shooter on Kongregate

I'm so fricking sad.
zoomer babies: adobe flash
boomer kino: macromedia shockwave
If it wasn't for Adobe buying Macromedia out, we could have had the majority of HTML5 functionality at least 15 years ahead of time.
does shockwave still work if you install it? does it have any OSS reimplantation?
Blah blah blah muh AddictingGames account could get hacked!!!!!
more like your entire computer could get locked down by ransomware
yeah whatever you say Steve Jobs. Go back to your tomb
Just fix the vulnerabilities then.
Lego Backlots in Shockwave. GOATed and we even knew it then
Remember that one ninja RPG where you can do physical or magical builds, good times

you missed out on some great games. I liked going to for the impossible achievements.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I don't remember this game at all. But I fricking remember that achievement screen.
Frick this game, frick that impossible achievement.
I hope you overcome your mental moronicness.

I see you don't. I'm sorry.
>unironically being this angry at someone that didn't play badged games

Achievement hunters are the iPad kids of millennials
Aw frick lad I forgot Luminara's name. I went back to find it a couple times throughout the years and never could. Who knew all I had to do was look into my old acheivements on my kong account
Monster Den. I saw the achievement and had flashbacks of going for it numerous times.
Somehow I have the hard badge but none of the others. I guess they were added later.
Holy shit, my account still exists. I can't believe I still remember my old shitty password from when I was a kid.
I didn't know jack about Kongregate until I played Epic War 4, can't count how long I've spent on gamefudge and newgrounds.
How would I find oldest achievements?
ah I found it
>TDP4 Team Battles
Damn do I miss the multiplayer flash games the most. Even some of the Unity3D games.
took a while to dig through it. looks like this is it though. I remember when I got it too, was playing this game at my grandparents house on my grandfather's computer. The funny thing is that hard acheivement I got in 2018, 9 years later when I decided to go back and play it again for nostalgias sake. And now we are almost as far from that point as it was from the beginning.
Frick Madagascar and 1 airport with no border
Anyone remember a certain tower defense game from Newground.
>setting was you are a general in command of an army.

Incursion?
or Kingdom Rush, though that one is pretty popular so I'd be surprised if you don't remember it
Sounds like Kingdom Rush. They actually ported that to mobile and made DLC for it.

you played yourself
the name comes from Greg, the website's founder
>the sequel that is never, ever happening
What's her name, anons? For me, it was Sonny 3 and Wasted Youth 2
>Wasted Youth 2
In development hell since dev tried to do 3D instead of 2D
There was a Medical School simulator I played that was like the old DOS games. The creator changed the description to keep people updated on the progress on the sequel, but it just stopped one day. I checked in regularly for years after that.
The one I think more people will relate to though is Level Up. A game where every action your character can do had a level associated with it and it was a sort of Majora's Mask style loop where you kept increasing your access and ability to interact with the world.
Last Stand
>but the shitty roguelike on steam
FRICK YOU
the last stand at least got a bunch of good sequels. it's insane that it was actually one of the inspirations for call of duty zombies
Echoes Act 2
Mardek 4
Wasted Youth was fricking sick
MARDEK 4
It's for the best, unfortunately. Dev went off the deep end years ago.
Mastermind World Conqueror 2 set in spess.
came in here to post this
>>what, you didn't think you'll play this whole game out of a MENU?!
Diamond Hollow 3.
>tfw the punk rock generic badass protagonist with goatee is voiced by a young tomar
>"STOP OR YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE DESTROYED!"
This series never got the conclusion it deserved, man.
>hydra pods
>two M134s
>no m230
I wonder if S-4 was on crack that day.
Frick, Road of The Dead was SO fricking ahead of its time, I wish they remade these games and put them on steam
>launch flash game
>opening sequence plays
>immediately hear tomar
>close flash game
>Be 13
>Boot up miniclip
>Square Circle Co
>Heli Attack 3
>Play the survival mode against never ending attack helicopters for hours while blasting Aerosmith
Groovy
?si=mn_R46xUOA13KCYM
Learn 2 Fly 2 was the best in the series.
>reviewed by jayisgames
loved that little point and click walkthrough website like you wouldnt believe, lads
;_;
i was out there grinding
>young me
>come back from school
>hop onto the family computer
>kongregare and Armorgames time
>dozens and dozens of fun games to play completely for free made by passionate devs: Rebuild, GemCraft, Bubble Tanks, Monsters Den, Bloons, BoxHead, Strike Force Heroes, Raze...
>fast forward to today
>little nieces want to play games on my computer
>all they can play is literal fricking mobile game trash and dress-up games
>stumble upon some weird cat game where you need to clean it up, give it first aid, put drops into its eyes etc
>get to a stage where a scalpel appears and a line is drawn on its belly
>no
>start drawing the line across its belly
>blood appears
>NO
>quickly shut the game off while my nieces ask why I turned it off and what happened to the kitty
>they still want to play it whenever they see it while I have to say that the cat game is "suspicious"
>finally found a site where they could play actual disney games so thats good I guess
Still, it's fricked up how kids today will associate web games with shit like THIS and not the kino we grew up with
it's okay because we had flash games like Light Cut and Dark Cut
dark cut was explicitly made to be very brutal, not disguised as flashy for under4s
to be fair there were plenty of good but fricked up games
these aren't really new, i remember playing surgery games when i was young. the new stuff is way more gruesome though, it's sick that ~~*they*~~ want children to see this imagery
Are you talking about Epic War?
Nope
It was online co-op and you had to defend a castle with the other players
Kingdom of Pixels
Oh, I never played this
But nope, it wasn't a moba. The closest thing I could compare it to would be a sidescrolling flash version of Dungeon Defenders
The Last Castle
You are my brother, and I wish you the best in life anon
YO HOLY SHIT
That's the game
>TFW I can never find that fast food ninja game I played on miniclip all those years ago
Any anons here know what I’m talking about?
I remember playing the original prince of persia on a flash site but I don't know if it was emulation or some game just using its assets
i remember playing the crappy unity shooters (Sanctioned Renegades comes to mind) and talking to randoms in the Cookie Kingdom chatroom
take me back to ArcadeTown lads
Wasn't arcadetown a site that had shareware "demos" on it?
Anyone got a flashpoint playlist of pure kino?
>Increase BPM
Why did he do it?
to increase bpm
>upgrade ship to max
>farm the last level
>upgrade everything else
>complete the game
did u post this because they sent u an email about some bullshit they are doing?
because I got that email too
What was the name of that platformer game where you controlled a stick figure with bright orange pants?
fancy pants adventure?
...maybe? But I think the title format was more like "something fancypants".
Sorry, you were right. I should have just checked youtube first.
There was this game where you land on different planets to mine stuff with a vehicle, which I liked but I forgot what it was called. They made a second part, too.
Found it! It was called 'Glean'.
anyone here remember CLOUT: THE GAME? it was a ludo text based satirical mmo where every player was a congressman in the USA and you could pass bills which affected a simulation of the country by using abilities such as "Think Of The Children" and "Invoke Prior Military Service"
it had a tonne of political parties with different objectives and you could actually win the MMO by passing your parties "victory bill" which would then reset the game
https://clout-the-game.fandom.com/wiki/The_Cloutiverse_Wiki
it was awesome, until the developer Delosford had an actual schizo meltdown and got the game banned from kongregate, it was on facebook for a while afterwards. if you can find the CLOUT forums you can see his schizoposts where he thought feds and scientologists were attacking him for undermining the USA or something
Oh, I remember this game and I played it too
Cool idea, but I think I remember the country economy was being fricked by new players spamming the only couple low-level bills they had access to
how the frick did no one mention didyourowngrave yet
Krinkels actually put out a MC game on Steam, supposedly is pretty good
It is pretty good, only complaint is that transitioning from melee to using enemies guns is a chore.
>Divine intervention, Last stand 1&2, Frontier, Vector TD, Sinjid, Learn to fly, Coma, Viricide
Yup. Gaming time
I wish achievements functioned like Kongregate's badge system. Each game having no more than 4 badges at least meant the requirements are more likely to be meaningful than just "reach checkpoint #1-10."
Edmund was kind of ahead of the time releasing this as early as 2012, only recently are other devs following suit and making their own collection of their old flash games.
got my first e-gf here and the first time I ever heard of Ganker was someone posting a link to a thread.
I never cared about the actual games.
i think the first time i ever heard of Ganker was someone naming it on kongregate as well, but i didn't start coming here until many years later
God reading trough this thread made me so sad bros
I want to go back so badly man...
I was a moderator in there.
any stories from behind the scenes? i am curious what kind of stuff you guys dealt with besides banning spammers
ANTI IDLE THE GAME IS THE BEST IDLE GAME
God, I miss flash games. It was fun to just come home, go to a myriad of websites that hosted flash games, and just have access to 100's of games for free at your fingertips. A lot of them were really fun, even fapped to some of the sex ones and they still managed to be fun. Ganguro Girls, Love Hina SIM, Sex Kitten, Meet and Frick games were really hot to me as a teenager despite the weird proportions. A lot of my high school faps and sex drive was fueled by flash games now that I think about it.
jmtb02 is a genius
Any pro gamers here who've played Sonny 2?
I've read that there is a hidden zone that you can unlock only if you beat the game on highest difficulty and without repeating boss battles or using training battles.
I gave my best shot but got stuck at the ZPCI guys at the end of the second zone playing as biological? Any tips?
Some fights are so hard for certain builds that you just have to keep trying until you get lucky
For me, it was My Pet Protector 1 and 2.
Did Gretel and Hansel ever got finished?
Any Mardek enjoyers
>Mardek
Those 3 games were so good... Probably for the best 4 never came out.
good games. I heard he abandoned the series and worked on some other project that wasn't that great
I love flash so much lads
This thread just reminds me of when there was more than like 3 websites worth looking at
Anyone played memohuntress?
last stand was fun
For me, it's funny-game.biz
>bitefight
That was the desktop text mmo with vampires and werewolves, right? I remember my big sis was obsessed with this game
There was a hentai version of this website with naughty games
Can't remember what you never knew.
The only place I've ever heard of them is here. No idea who they are or what they do.
Yeah I'm thinking kino
what game? unlocked a memory for me
nicholas' weird adventure 2
oh yeah one more thing, if you're gonna play it on ruffle on newgrounds you should know the tech room at the very end is bugged and doesn't work. i just played it because i recognized it and haven't played it in a long time and got fricked.
I remember Nitrome the most because all it's games had the same distinct art style.
I never knew why though. Did they just employ the same designer guy or did they make it part of the brand?
>physically locked the entrances so students can't escape
How come school shooters don't do this strat irl?
That happened in Virginia tech
I wonder if Tom is ever horrified that this game he made to be edgy and vent about Columbine ended up becoming timeless to generations beyond him due to reoccurring mass shooting incidents.
Anyone remember the name of the top-down shooter series that played a lot like hotline miami?
They went through many different time periods like WWII, modern, and future.
for me its nitrome
Daily reminder to never forgive Nitrome
what did they do
Stopped Flashpoint from preserving any of their games.
nitrome games were alright but they comitted to their shitty gimmicks too much
they have good art and such but they were usually just very restrictive and boring puzzle games
she cute
I truly, completely sincerely and unironically believe whoever was involved with the decision to kill flash should be gangraped to death
>infectonator world dominator
still one of my fav flash games.
I was hoping /f/ would be the one to carry the torch onwards
I remember using my Kongregate account as an alt to scam people on ROTMG. Shit was cash.
so the first flash game ever was about a school shooter?
If you're talking about pico's school then 1: it wasn't the first flash game, and 2: he wasn't a school shooter, he was defending his school from school shooters.
>Commando 2, home
If you had/have a kongregate account and want to preserve it, LOG IN NOW
THE FRICKERS ARE DELETING 3 YEAR OLD ACCOUNTS
ITS OVER
shit
That's nice to know. Honestly tempted to not login for this very reason. It's not like there's anymore use for it these days. I'll miss my badges though. Probably have more than everyone here combined.
Post them
>oh no what if someone finds out my name is farts mcass and they get the school computer IP!?!?
A building sim where the rich flee to mars featuring cheesy jokes. What's the name?
>kids these days will never experience the joy of secretly playing flash games during computer class or at any time computers were involved in a class assignment
i remember secretly playing some game in computing class where you play as a sperm trying to fertilize a woman, it wasn't actually pornographic it was just a random game, the teacher saw me and made me describe the game to the class, i was like 11 years old lmao
Huh, I do. Thanks for the nice memories.
It's time.
>He actually made a sequel
Here is list of game i enjoyed (many of them's are finished)
Commando series
Thing thing series
Chibitami's tohou flash
Project nexus
Road of the dead series
Combat heaven series
Tanaka U games
Jmtb02 games
Shinjid Sow
Endlesswar series
Siftheads series
Xiaoxiao 2,6,9
Tanaka U
Armadillo knight series
And some other 1000+games
Playing tons of flash game was proudest moment of my life and it was fun it took 20years finish
I forgot combat instinct and ronin yeah that thing was worth to refer
Anyone remember MoFunZone? Or Games of Gondor (later "Armor Games")?
Yeah, I even remember Stickpage and notdoppler.
Mofunzone was responsible for introducing me to porn through one of the links on the side. I can still picture the grainy, low res, dark footage perfectly in my mind.
Decision Medieval, anyone?
n
I never forgot
Kongergate, Armor Games, Newgrounds, wetpussygames, gamesofdesire
I remember it all, this was my childhood
>LoveHina
>SIMGIRLS
>Ganguro Girl
>Sex Kitten Sim Date
>Meet'n'Frick
Ahh, my early coomer days. Those were the times.
>puzzle pirates
>sherwood dungeon
>secret builders
vgh....................
holy shit, urban rivals I remember that game, it's sad it became p2w like hearthstone
>parents were grumps who only let me go on websites that were “kid friendly” (please ignore that my first video game was Doom at 4 years old)
>spent all my time as a kid on coolmathgames, Lego.com, and homestarrunner.com instead of newgrounds, miniclip, or armor games and that one time I accidentally found the Demented Cartoon Movie
>watching everyone else at school getting to play Heli Attack or Runescape at lunch while I was playing puzzle games, Lego flash games, or watching Homestar Runner cartoons
>eventually a filter was installed on the school internet so everyone was stuck in my boat anyways, but it was finicky and could be circumvented by just trying to go to a website until it let you through
I eventually got into Newgrounds and the like once I was a teenager but I don’t quite have the same nostalgia as a result for those
did Stinkoman 20X6 ever actually get that level 10 update before Flash died?
my dumbass has nostalgia for newgrounds due to mario flash animations and it being how I found Roblox.
you were one of the lucky ones.
i was really young and i couldn't really read or write at this point but i remember some weird social MMO that was grafitti themed
you would have your character and then there would be the wall or train or whatever you could tag
i remember it being public the things you tagged
it was 2d as well
i dont know if it was a game from my country or what but i liked all the weird social MMO games that were back then
it was interesting just getting on the internet and searching for games and finding new shit every single day
But but but it was a ~~*massive security issue*~~! Just imagine what those dirty hackers could do with your AddictingGames account hacked into. They could probably write mean comments
Take me back
Can we just go back to the early-mid 2000s? Even the late 2000s?
>all those flash games and movies
>just after the 90s so all the classics are still around to play if you want to play OoT/Majora’s Mask
>Warcraft 3 custom games because Blizzard still didn’t suck at the time
>the endless list of good games from the GC/PS2/Xbox generation to enjoy
>so many good FPS games to play on PC old and new alike
>Gamefaqs arguing over whether FF7 or OoT was better
>DLC was very rare and usually more along the line of huge expansion packs
>MMOs hit their peak
>No micro transactions
>mobile games were small arkanoid clones or the like instead of the gacha hell
>the endless speculation over the 360/PS3/Revolution and the jokes made when the Revolution’s real name was revealed
And then even then late 2000s-very early 2010s were still good
>still a ton of good games all over the place for every console
>that hype over the FF7 opening cutscene for the PS3 even though it never amounted to anything
>the Super Smash Bros Brawl hype season where every day could be anything from nothing to a character announcement and the internet F5’d every day for that reason
>indie was still a term used for really bad movies instead of a term used for games that have more than a 10% chance to not suck
>DS having actual online as a handheld so I could trade Pokemon worldwide
>StarCraft 2 hype
Fricking hell I have tears in my eyes
Now all we have are AAA ripoffs, failed reboots and sequels, and Chinese bootleg ripoffs that make more money than god
BUT BUT BUT THE MASSIVE SECURITY ISSUE THINK OF THE ADDICTINGGAMES ACCOUNTS WHO WERE HACKED INTO AND USED TO WRITE RUDE COMMENTS
FLASH SHUTDOWN WAS NECESSARY, CHUD
Anyone else used sploder?
My homie.
>That flash game you're still searching for but don't know the title of
Describe it, we may be able to help.
if you played on kong and you still have access to the account you can check your old achievements.
I stopped using Kong when it became overrun with idle games. The whole philosophy behind idle games bothers me.
is there a ROMsite but for all flash games? kong is still alive but no games run in browser
Flashpoint
https://flashpointarchive.org/
I used to be super active on kongregate including the forums. what a shitty community man, I miss it a lot.
I remember playing this surprisingly detailed but still shitty 3d game that was like Battlefield. For some reason everyone was bald in that game and you had to buy the guns. I don't remember the name of it, all I remember is everyone wore red and black armor and it was an online PVP game on a military base.
i always played the guitar hero like games
oh man........
Momentum Missile Mayhem series was my shit
i remember the furgay dev getting caught into the scaremongering for Large Hadron Collider, lyl
Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 3
I need this and the 2nd one
https://www.silvergames.com/de/super-crazy-guitar-maniac-deluxe-3
HOLY SHIT
>you now remember rushing to the bathroom for the sledgehammer and camping the door
Used to hack in this game using a trainer. Could go through walls, invisible, teleport, all sorts of fricked up shit. Sorry.
>flash game
>hacking
>Used to hack in this game using a trainer.
I eventually did as well.
Used to love getting on this site and just checking the latest TD releases
I actually held my keyboard upside down when i played this.
Portal Defenders was peak newgrounds culture.
Post tracks of your favorite games

2 and 3 my fricking childhood
Still gets stuck in my head after all these years.
?si=3vipMaEhNnYnQ5U4
Anyone here used FoxKids when it had a website? I'm trying to remember this one flash cartoon that was about a war between meats and vegetables. That ring any bells?
Fighting Foodons?
No no, it was a flash animation that I saw on their site.
bloons 1 OG here.
>tfw that good time is gone
anyone remember that larry flashgame?
any chaos faction bros in here?
>can't play because ruffle doesn't work for shit
its over
i just use a flash version i downloaded lmao
>game broke when flash update many years ago
>game still broke on new launcher
At least it works on Flashpoint.
I'll never forgive Adobe for what they did to us
It crashes and lacks audio for me
I just play it in a standalone flash player dude
works fine for me
Help me Gankerros
>Halloween/horror JRPG flash game
>protagonist is a dude that got killed by his dad or something
>comes back as a revenant to enact his revenge
>has a carved pumpkin for a head
>takes place in various settings, some hedge mazes or some shit
>anime-lite artstyle
well its not Skullkid
but I feel like I remember what you're describing. hm.
I've been trying to find that shit on and off without success for years now. It's a blessing when I forget
Was Flash really that easy to learn or do people just have nostalgia goggles on?
I'd imagine it was easy with how much dogshit was made
no barrier for entry
Back when I was like 8, I made some simple animations with it. My 10 year old brother also did some simple games. I'd wager any teenger would have been able to build a proper flash game.
I just want monsters den ported to mobile.
It'd be perfect.
Post my favorites
>Balloon in the wasteland
So frickin comfy. Absolutely peak atmosphere. It's also such a decent execution of tower defence where you just keep building and improving your defences while planning your escape.
Monster evolution is probably the best flash game ever made.
Things were so fricking good back then it's insane.
All that time playing flash games, then booting up WC3 and playing some custom games...
All that user-created free content and now it's fricking gone.
Now the kids play custom games on Roblox and Fortnite, and years from now they'll have the exact same thread the OP is some fortnite dance emote
That shit is fricking garbage.
I would know, I was desperate enough to give them a look as there's NOTHING in the market.
A pale imitation at best where people are just trying to rip off kids for 'donations' and 'skins'.
I don't know what Roblox is. But if that has a bunch of community made games, good for them.
theres a german wc3 map about a dragon and a trans, the dragon eats the trans, all accompanied with a song and said story as lyrics
One of the first flash games I ever played was on onemorelevel.com. It was some kind of rail-shooter where you had to defend one of those castles from super mario world by shooting at stuff trying to knock it down. God i hope someone knows what the frick I'm talking about.
Probably already mentioned in this thread but Lego games were amazing. World Builder, Junkbot, Spybots, Bionicle games, etc. Pure soul.
world builder was fricking kino. can't deny it.
>Remember all those stick man animations
>"Oh yeah, there was that castle series, I remember it ending in a cliffhanger, I wonder if it's finished now?"
I want to go back
That dev's twitter is still active, he got divorced last year or so. I forgot his user though, also it's in japanese.
damn
he just got over a massive health issue with his heart as well
Eyezmaze was probably the best there ever was. So fricking sad how shit his life went. I wish he had more success.
>used to spend hours on stickpage
>site is still up but nothing works
>stick figure animations and games as a whole have been dead for longer than flash
What happened?
Funorb was great
>flash game site made by jagex
>kino tower defense game, arcanists which was like an rpg worms game, that turn based runescape game
rip funorb
Good thread nostalgia bros.
