The main problem of this game is that the setting is really bad, it doesn't look like São Paulo. Those morons at Rockstar were inspired by movies set in Rio de Janeiro and said "hmm, everyone talks about Rio, let's make it different and do something in São Paulo", got some moron to do the fricking research and they probably thought: "This city doesn't feel like Brazil, it's to late to redo the dialogue to say that they are in Rio, so just frick it." They made just a generic "Brazilian" city without the interesting parts of São Paulo or Rio. The worst part is in that mission where you go to the Tiete River spring, the thing looks like the Amazon. Another funny is that the airport in the final mission is better than the real life counterpart, as it has a subway. Still a great game, 1>3>2.

My only complaint is it never goes full Crank 2. It always just borders on it.
I play 3 once a year. I didnt even feel like I loved it the first time I played it, but the shooting is just so great. Max's questionable mercy at that black guy towards the end is the biggest frick you to the character of Max and the franchise though, i dread that cutscene every playthrough because its so damn ridiculous.

Max Payne 1 wasn't perfect by any means. The fact that Max gets up off the floor automatically after a shootdodge is a pain.
MP1 is pure dogshit and is only remembered because of nostalgia.
