>"You see, I NEED my RTX 3080 in case I ever want to play a modern AAA game at highest settings!"
>never actually does, only ever plays Doom wads and pixel indies
Why are people like this?
>"You see, I NEED my RTX 3080 in case I ever want to play a modern AAA game at highest settings!"
>never actually does, only ever plays Doom wads and pixel indies
Why are people like this?
Because the fool's money belong in some smarter guy's bank account, it's the natural order
Is there even any point in maxing out graphics settings? I played Cyberpunk 2077 on medium settings and had no problem. The game looked good enough and ran well enough.
>laughs in Quake 2 global illumination
>Carmack's 2nd worst game
>Same 5 polygons models from 1999
>Same 128x128 textures
>BUT DA RAYS BEING TRACED THO
Jealous?
you're jealous.
>Carmack's 2nd worst game
Let me guess, first one is D3, right?
Rage
Oh shit, i forgot about it totally.
Yeah, what a disaster it was.
are there such people?
I thought most people don't really care what GPU they have as long as it runs the games they want to play and in the other end there are people like me who want to have all the newest and best graphics or highest FPS etc.
More headroom will make your card last longer.
In Europe right now room temperature is 100F
If you have a 2070 and you want to play Elden Ring, your card will hit 180F in no time.
If you have a 3080 and you play Elden Ring it won't even budge.
>but the point of a gpu is to be squeezed
Or you could just like use air conditioner or something. Like normal people do in warmer places.
400€ for a portable unit plus the cost of electricity which is going to be crazy because you're fighting an oven with a refrigerator.
Well, just move to some place that's not a shithole. We have conditioners in pretty much every apartment and I have mine on all day every day. Paying like $60 a month for electricity in total.
Have it on right now and open windows just for fresh air - it's 30C outside.
Wait, are you saying you don't even have one at home? Like, wtf, how poor are you?
>never actually does, only ever plays Doom wads and pixel indies
prove it
Gladly, but I'm not OP.
I'm playing Factorio on my 12700KS and 3070Ti with 64GB DDR5.
pics, or it Didn't happen.
It didn't happen then, because I'm not gonna post a picture of my hardware.
Can you game at 1080p on an apu
It depends on what game you're playing, and what you have the settings set to.
yes but only old games
for example on vega 8 dark souls 1 and 2 work well but 3 is pretty much unplayable
>Have several thousand dollar computer
>The only benefit to this is that I can turn on ambient occlusion and and waste like 40% gpu usage to draw ridiculously blurry ugly fricking shadows under some plant and up in corners I can barely see
>Game has baked shadows anyway making this entirely redundant
ambient occ is a meme.
>poorgay seethe thread
>rtx 3080
>play only porn rpgmaker games
poorgays seething
no one asked, pH@gg0t.
>buy card in anticipation of good games coming out
>good games never come out
the only mystery here is why people keep falling for it
I'm old so 1090p@60hz is my limit. This means that my 1660 6GB will survive me. See you later, losers.
>RTX 3070
>Currently playing Kingdoms of Amalur, a port of a PS3 game
I'm not even mad, with 2x SSAA it looks gorgeous.
>i7 12700
>3070
>32GB
>been playing nothing but my PS3 backlog on my PS3
Best spot to be in given the devastated state of gaming right now. I deliberately left a few games behind ages ago like Dragon's Dogma and Nier because I knew this was going to happen.
That's an underutilized or unused asset right there.
>1660 super
haven't played a single game that I couldn't max
Keep telling yourself that. 🙂
I don't have to tell myself, since I can just see it happen in front of me
in a couple of years games will start using cuda/opencl for core features and not just optional cloth simulation or whatever.
Jap shit like my pic will teach you that you don't buy the latest and greatest card to run modern AAA shit at high settings
You buy the latest and greatest card to play shittily programmed Jap shit at high settings because on a normal fricking card that can probably get you 60 FPS on fricking Crysis,in shit like oh I don't know,an Illusion game you'll struggle to get fricking 20 because Japs think PC is where they can cut a frickload of corners
Always buy the midranger and buy/sell according to market conditions.
Bought a 3080 to play spider man, suicide squad, gotham knights, bayo 3.
I can't notice the difference from the 1080 to the point I think the computer still thinks I have a 1080. Seriously, xenoblade 3 runs at 20fps.
But in the other hand cyberpunk runs amazing with ray tracing.
From what I can see so many modern AAA titles are just interactive movies so it's a waste of time playing them at all.
I'm hanging out for the Valve Index II to arrive though, VR titles have a better reason to demand power from a card.
If you're buying a 30 series card and it's not a 3060 Ti or a 3080 12GB, you're doing it wrong.
sez the poor kidd0 pining for an expensive gaming computer
The only reason I can think of where it would be justified these days would be if you want to be an e-sport memer in fps games other than CS:GO and want to keep a stable 240fps with your 240hz monitor. These people actually do make use of their 3080. Most games who came out lately were absolute garbage and half of them are lazy console to PC ports where even people with 3080s have problems (stranger of paradise for example).
They don't do it intentionally. They instinctually know most games are shit, and ended having more fun with less demanding ones, but they don't put two and two together and save their money. The Upgrade Cycle is a bad habit they haven't kicked.
