You should give Paper Mario: The Origami King a try.
It is as good and soulfull as the original Paper Mario.

No.
I agree. I love this game, it's better than The Thousand Year Snore.
>You should give Paper Mario: The Origami King a try.
That's a laugh
>It is as good and soulfull as the original Paper Mario.
Even a bigger KEK. spammed jigsaw puzzle battles isn't good or soulful and puts everyone to sleep, no matter how the graphics look.
Not even Nintendo themselves are pretending that anybody likes Sticker Star-style Paper Mario at this point, you can stop now
I like the story but didn't care for the combat
I'm playing Paper Mario 64 on my phone's emulator right now. Its really fricking kino
king olly, the worst paper mario villain.
it was cute and comfy but overall forgettable
The top pic made me realize I hardly remember PM64 and TTYD at all. Must be time for a replay.
The spider and the ice dragon are from the Wii game
General Guy is the FRICKING SHIT
he had a role in getting me laid, I'm not kidding
Story time?
a cute girl was talking about how much she loved shyguy, I sent her an image of Genral Guy and she immediately adored him, saying he was the cutest thing ever, that's how we got to know each other
He's a big guy
>girl claims to be shyguy fan
>doesn't already know the well-known variants of shyguy
What's next, she didn't know what snifits were?
>forced soul
>vs
>soulful and funny
run along zoomer, take your buzzwords with you
>calling the stickershit trilogy soulful
>tfw constantly dying to the PM64 boss refights
The koopa brothers all being able to attack you at once is such BS.
>That fricked up dragon cannon thing from SPM
Get out. You aren't one of us, traitor
Spm is elite anon and anyone who disagrees isnt
Honestly as big of a fan of the first 2 paper marios, when the enemies are taken out of context, I can see why Nintendo completely shifted directions. TTYD is my favorite and only really Dooplis seems to belong
It's Sticker Star 3.0
I wish Sticker Star gays stopped dragging the original into their insecure hatred for TTYD
I wish SPM zoomies stopped pretending that they're OG PM fans and that TOK doesn't mog the frick out of their shitty platformer.
I was disappointed with SPM when it came out and I still think it's a mostly bad game, but no, TOK doesn't come close to mogging it
It doesn't just come close, it 300% mogs it. The puzzle combat was fun especially in boss fights and the exploration elements were better than anything in SPM.
I disagree but let's pretend I don't. That would still make TOK a pretty mediocre game at best
it does kind of suck. It's got its charm and a couple high points but like half the levels are total slogs, the platforming is sub-par and the RPG elements leave a lot to be desired. It's hard to imagine a fan of the series playing it on release and not being disappointed.
It’s not. I got to that Japanese looking town and dropped it. the overworld battles are so bad everyone skips them and the boss battles are boring as fricking shit. keep in mind they gaslit you in the prerelease trailers that the bobomb had a name when they literally make sure to rub it in your face that he doesn’t in the actual game. partners don’t go in dungeons and are effectively useless and have no personality. the toads really do make observational paper jokes 24/7 like the memes. this shit is as bad as the rest of them except worse for momentarily pretending it wasn’t
>It is as good and soulfull as the original Paper Mario.
It's not.
Im currently playing it again
its fun , music is fricking great and Olivia is such a likeable character
even giving it the best try, i liked the new puzzle battle but it gets boring fast with very little variation.
The bosses have kind of a cool idea but are so few and so easy i rarely get to appreciate the change of pace.
The very simple action enemy encounters make me wish the game was just an action game instead of the mess it is
also i get the lol paper joke but it just makes me wish bosses had something creative artistically
This shit makes SPM look like a good game, frick you.
The world is nice but the combat mechanics are awful.
Is the battle system really bad? Does it has any redeeming qualities?
If you like the puzzle, making rows and squares with minimal rotations you might enjoy it. But it's a stretch to call it a battle system. The battle mechanics are just there for if you frick up the puzzle, or get to the end of an area and not have the upgraded hammer or jump so you have to attack more than once even if you got the enemies lined up.
PM64 > TTYD > TOK > CS > SS >>>>>>>>>> SPM
PM64 >= TTYD > SPM >>> TOK > CS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a "le stickerized" dirty toilet seat >>>>>>>>>> SS
I liked it, not a fan of the combat tho. But the general adventure feeling and music were great. Boss fights were cool.
God, I was actually hopeful that the battle system would've involved partners that would do AOEs in different ways. Instead of it just being rotating dials to solve a "puzzle".
Frick
I watched Vinesauce play it.
Origami King was more fun than TTYD but has zero replay value.
>Origami King was more fun than TTYD
puzzle battles are only "fun" for 2 year olds
I'd rather play a SPM janky platformer than TOK battles, they are that stale and bad.
Filtered
>TOKgays think jigsaw puzzles are hard.
TTYD combat >>>>> TOK combat
It's not even comparable, literally. People want to play an RPG, not twist it and bop it.
>puzzle battles are only "fun" for 2 year olds
So is TTYD only "fun" for 1 year olds? TOK combat takes way more thought than TTYD combat.
And curiously TOK combat is way less engaging. ::big-think::
The puzzle takes thought. TTYD had more strategy than square=hammer, line=jump, even if it was simplistic.
>TTYD had more strategy than square=hammer, line=jump
TTYD is hammer if the enemy has a spike on its head and jump otherwise...
They're both okay at best. TOK has way more interesting level design.
They're both about the same, take off the rose tinted glasses.
>TTYD is hammer if the enemy has a spike on its head and jump otherwise
That's just a part of it. If there are multiple enemies you might choose something else, change the order of your attacks, use your partner first, etc
TOK battles is just needlessly tedious, not thought inducing. It's braindead gameplay compared to TTYD.
They are both equally as braindead and tedious, you just played TTYD before your brain developed.
>They are both equally as braindead and tedious, you just played TTYD before your brain developed.
You just have extremely bad taste, TOKgay. Tok is a bunch of nothingness with "le graphics"
TTYD is just PM64 with all of the fun removed
you are sounding worse and worse with such shit taste like ... wow
PM64 is my favourite, but I'm pretty sure using it to shit on TTYD is something you only do if you're a Sticker Star gay
I liked Color Splash more. I still consider that the best of the new paper marios
TOK is just a CS rehash for Switch.
I liked it, too, anon
I did, the combat sucks shit so bad that i'll never replay it. that being said, there's a lot of really funny jokes, and goofy game over sequences
>people are pretending SPM is a bad game now just because its inferior to the first 2 games
SPM is inferior to every PM game except for maybe Sticker Star.
>SPM
>inferior to tok
>inferior to fricking cs
It's way inferior to TOK, which is slightly behind TTYD, and a bit inferior to CS, correct.
>pretending
>now
everyone shat on SPM from the moment it was released because it does indeed suck
>worst story in a video game maybe ever
>most humor is paper puns
>gameplay with no variety outside of boss fights
>good music and visuals though
Yeah I'm thinking it's dogcrap. Btw I did play it all the way through and it was really bad. The only actually funny parts were bowser jr, kamek, and bowser. Also the only regular enemies with any gameplay variety were piranha plants, boos, and the paper handholding guys. And boos and plants are the same gimmick.
The only people praising SPM in this thread were clearly 12 years old when it came out. Absolute dogshit entry.
The first few chapters were okay, but the 2nd half of the game is terrible. It turns to shit in chapter 4 with the space levels
I played this, did anyone else just buy the solutions to the rotation puzzles for regular encounters after an hour or so in? They just reused the same layouts. The boss encounters were fun, though. Didn’t pay 2 win for those.
I have a lot of disposable income and bought origami king expecting it to be shit or below average. I hate sticker stat and color splash was such a slog. But I really ended up liking origami king. It's the best paper Mario since ttyd. I know that's not saying much considering how bad the series has been but it's a fun game and worth a play through. Kind of have me a little hope for the future
