Sounds neat.
>>Go back to 2009
>>turn 8 again
you have to be 18 or older to post here
>Oh no !
>*Buys Apple stock and Bitcoins*
The frick are you buying Apple stock for?
Plausible deniability
Am I returning to my 2009 self, or am I my current self transported back to 2009, coexisting with another version of me that I must avoid?
>Freshman year of HS
>I can....start over and turn my life around?
you'll just waste it all again
Yeah but this time I'll know about Bitcoin so I'll waste it all while rolling in money.
Pic is a better representation of 2004 - 2007. 2009 was the K-ON! takeover.
>2009
not far back enough. Needs to be 2003
Trans rights rawr :3

>Too late to stop 9/11

A curse worse than death
Can it be 2005 instead?
Yeah send me back to 2005 for more runescape time in the golden era
Send me back to the year 2000. I want to go back to before just one more time.
kys nowwwww
Can you send me back to 2000 instead? I genuinely want to go back to those times.
1998-2012 were my golden years
internet, WoW, Ganker, console wars, online gaming, torrents, anime
those were all the things i enjoyed
Buying all the bitcoin so i can retire and neet
Send me back to 2015/2016/2017 to high school
>have to relive my parents divorce
Unbelievable torture.
>get the opportunity to prevent it
>cry in a corner and mope and post anime pictures on Ganker instead
You're the reason they divorced.
There's nothing you can do to stop a woman from deciding to ruin a man's life except kill her first
Lmfao, sure bud.
>you're going back to 2009
>and turning into an anime girl!
What do you do in this situation
listen to 14 Great Wall - Space Cradle on repeat
Anime wasn't real in 2009
>bright future
I won't make the same mistake, I'll kill myself while I'm young.
As long as I keep memories it's fine
The cracks were already starting to show in 2009. 2007 is the latest I'll take
I was 21 in 2009 and all I did during that time was get in fights with people over 360 voice chat because they were gay moronic noobtube spamming homosexuals in MW2.
Would go back/10.
literally all of my current problems would be solved if i went back to 2009
Wait, no, the lions are good now
we could prevent gamergate....... we could avert the electiontroony influx..........
i wonder how 100 years from now on ""internet historians"" will document the 1990's and 2000's
No. The Ministry of Truth will scrub all the good history prior to 2012.
We're probably in a digital dark age. I don't think there will be many primary sources of information left.
Kids in modern day have zero concept on what the internet was was like during the dial-up and DSL era. Most of them don't even know what flash is, let alone how important it was to building modern video hosting sites that they all use religiously
In a hundred years the vast majority of the early and mid internet will be legitimate lost media and lost information.
You can say the same thing about ARPANET and USENET, even the BBS scene of the 80s and 90s is only remembered by a few sad boomers. Maybe that's just the way of the world.
I wonder if the internet's going to change significantly in the next 20 - 30 years. It feels like we're already approaching the upper bounds of what people in the 90s thought the internet would be capable of long-term, the only stuff we're missing is virtual reality chatrooms being commonplace (they're possible but not very high-tech yet and virtual reality is far from universal adoption) and brain-internet interfaces that allow us to experience sensations within the internet (which are debatable of those will ever be adopted for obvious reasons).
I think AI is going to frick the WWW over in some way or form and everyone will move to decentralized networks like in the days of BBS.
If AI keeps evolving at the rate it currently is there's probably going to be a genuine "authenticity crisis" within the next decade. It's likely going to be hard to believe anything you see or read online because it might all just be AI generated.
>(they're possible but not very high-tech yet and virtual reality is far from universal adoption)
They're more high-tech now than they ever will be. We're currently in an age where you can drop in a primitive Shrek model from a PS2 game, put a skeleton over it, and import it into VRChat in less than 40 minutes, add another 40 and you can give him a floppy dong and frick other men in big titty anime avatars using voice changers to sound like anime prostitutes.
This is the most VR chatrooms will ever be capable of and copyright concerns and censorship will only make them worse much like how they made the internet as a whole worse. That's why the Metaverse failed: Who the frick would want to use a virtual chatroom where everybody looks like this instead of Asuka, Shrek, Superman, master chief, etc? We're living Ready Player One now, and the only way for it to go is down.
>Eternal September is forever
bros..
Video games used to be on cassette tapes
you cant even find evidence of old /b/ now, how the frick will you do it in 100 years
Sure you can, just look up its misadventures on ED.
>It feels like we're already approaching the upper bounds of what people in the 90s thought the internet would be capable of long-term
We still need personalized alexas aka net navis.
I think ED should be taken with a grain of salt and a disclaimer that it's /b/'s personal history written from a self-fellating /b/ perspective, and that a LOT of articles are just somebody's personal lolcow that nobody else cares about
Doubtful. People back then very much believed that if something was out online, it'd never be lost/forgotten.
Fast forward to now and think of how much has been scrubbed, censored, or simply lost to time.
How many Ganker archives have died since then taking countless posts with them?
>How many Ganker archives have died since then taking countless posts with them?
In reality? Like 4 that actually matter.
The Wojak Era, also known as The Cringe Age.
humanity will have wiped itself out, or at the very least thrown itself back into the dark ages within 100 years.
>go back to being 21 years old chugging pre-ingredient change 4lokos every day
2009-2010 was a dark time. Even did three amphetamine-pressed ecstasy pills after chugging a 4lokos in a parking lot one time. Zoomies will never understand.
di gi charat is 1999 thoughbeit
>bright future in 2024
>barely any shitskins on the internet
>europoors were not cancerous like now
>games focusing on gameplay and fun instead of homosexualry/politics/art/cinematic experiences etc
good old days
Back when the board wasn't filled with /misc/tards causing arguments in every single thread.
>/misc/ out of nowhere
You can tell a zoomie twittergay made this image since its 2009 and not anything before 2007
maplestory was better then and I've been hearing that mabinogi is good so I might get that.
This is cool
Great, I immediately jump on Ganker and look for a thread just like this that will send me even further back. Also I kidnap my younger self, no real reason, just feel like taking a hostage.
Oh no! (FRICK YES!)
Say it ain't so. I will not go.
Important question, am I de-aged? Because being 16 again with everything I know now I could absolutely fix my shit life.
>2009
good times
frick even Bad Apple was from 2009
Eh I'd probably make the same mistakes I did again if I went back. The only big difference would be using future knowledge to buy bitcoin but I was broke back in 2009 so I'd need a loan to buy a good amount and someone to cosign since I had no collateral.
>go back to 2009
>still jaded but able to avoid most moronic life decisions
>word is slightly less degenerate
>get younger
what's the downside
>back to 09
first thing I'd do is warn my dad that he'll die of prionic disease in 14 years
frick yeah
>I'm in uni
>I can survive whole day on a can of redbull and snickers
>tireless night of raiding in wow with the boys
>vidya is fun and I'm not a jaded oldman (34 yo)
Oh no? Oh yes!
Yeah, take me back.
I would unironically kill myself if I had to do 14 years over again, if I knew every bad thing that was going to happen but had no way of stopping it or convincing others to stop it, if I had to wait nearly a decade for my family members to become tolerable, if I had to deal with high school and got to experience having no friends a second time. Just writing this has depressed me.
