I played pandaland as my 'first' expac, it was soul, and that was after vale of eternal blossoms was fricked up. I even joined a guild, but as my brain grew bigger with my age, I had realized one thing.
"I had to be there."
And by there, I mean Vanilla and TBC at their release periods.
They were shit as games, but as games with other people at that point in time, where media and communication was entirely primitive, it was unmistakable kino, never to be relived again.
I agree with you in the sense that TBC and WotlK sucked as expansions, but the old warcraft players were motived to play because they wanted to see the aftermath of the frozen throne, it sucked, and what happen after that was even worse fanfiction. I know that a lot of players just started with wow, but I feel that the disaffection of the original lore crowd, combined with the fact that the expansions contents were shit, had an impact on everyone, because even wow only players felt that the setting was just fricked up. If you ruin the setting, players can only focus on the game and they become aware of how much shitty it was.
>Overly simplified classes through rotations and statistics >Dramatically increased mana and health regeneration >Made leveling into an absolute joke where you can one shot practically everything up until you reach level 80 content >Added Looking for Raid guaranteeing that raids would never again have interesting design quirks like Karazhan >Abysmal third raid tier >Redesigned many of the old zones into giant references to something like Redridge being dedicated to Rambo, Westfall to CSI Miami and Uldum to Raiders of the Lost Ark >Deathwing isn't intimidating at all. Spends >Remade dungeons with less atmospheric and compelling design such as Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep
Oh but it had slightly more difficult heroics so everyone gives it a passing grade
increased mana and health regeneration
LMAO Cata haters really are the most moronic NPCs imaginable. One of the main things people cried about in Cata was the huge reduction to mana regen, which made healers actually have to think about what they were doing rather than just spamming Flash Heal nonstop like they did in the casual shitshow that was Wrath.
>Scrapped Path of the Titans which gave people more customization. Nerfed Glyphs and Talent Trees on top of that. >Scrapped Abyssal Maw/War of the ancients raid >Still left a lot of the revamped zones unfinished, cliffhanger ending in zones like Westfall, no boat races in thousand needles, no revamp for Silithus etc >Dragon Soul didn't have Chromatus >Continued the trend of making massive areas like Azjol'Nerub and Grim Batol tiny dungeons. >Battle for Gilneas became a tiny BG compared to it's AV style alpha version.
>Overly simplified classes through rotations and statistics
???
all the classes get improved, polished and more abilities >Dramatically increased mana and health regeneration
no they don't? just the drinking is faster, less wait time. >Made leveling into an absolute joke where you can one shot
practically everything up until you reach level 80 content
nobody cares about sub 80 content. You have Classic era, SoD and WOTLK classic for that already. >Added Looking for Raid guaranteeing that raids would never again have interesting design quirks like Karazhan
LFR is just welfare gear and containment of shitters. It's a good thing. It filters the tourists so you can raid with better people instead, and it helps gear up alts. >Abysmal third raid tier
Dragon Soul was okay besides Spine of Death wing. >Redesigned many of the old zones into giant references to something like Redridge being dedicated to Rambo, Westfall to CSI Miami and Uldum to Raiders of the Lost Ark
and it was kino. >Deathwing isn't intimidating at all.
neither is LK in 2024 >Remade dungeons with less atmospheric and compelling design such as Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep
heroic deadmines is kino. have a nice day. the narrative of vanessa vancleef is peak dungeon storytelling using the dungeon area (westfall) questing to prepare you for the dungeon.
>playing SoD >the initial crowd stopped to play the game and now there are just minmax tryharders, even if we are talking about easy istances and raid for babies >now every raid ask only for meta classes with meta builds and equipment, gear score, logs checkings, you have to go in a Discord and use an external websites for the soft reservarion >sometimes you have to wait hours to play because they need to build the precise group in their minds >they use exploit like broken mobs patterns and shortcuts everytime >if the the istance is completed 2 minutes later compared the meta charts is considered a failure
Yeah I’ll probably make a goblin and level it to 20 then get bored.
you can do it for free on retoilet tho (level 20 is cap)
game had biggest numbers back then , so technically most people aware
no cap ong fr fr
No one is going to play this. Blizzcon is the largest gathering of blizzshills on the planet, and it was still announced to crickets.

They sucked ass though
They were shit as games, but as games with other people at that point in time, where media and communication was entirely primitive, it was unmistakable kino, never to be relived again.
vanilla was, is and will be great
vanilla pserver popularity attests to that
Vanilla is good as a game, tbc make a lot of convoluted decisions, but was still okay.
I just wish I was there, in those shitty vent/ts servers, with a shitty mic, playing WoW after school and my mom paid for my monthly sub.
Vanilla gameplay is absolutely braindead
lol this is going to be an even bigger flop than the original
>15 year old re-launch will have less than 10M active users
you don't fricking say
wow went from 12 million subs down to 9 million during cata
are you unable to understand proportions?
Making a classic version of the expansion that destroyed the game is so fricking moronic. WoW ended when arthas died.
fricking this. what the hell is classic about cata. its oxymoron.
wow ended when the dark portal opened.

How can I "come back" if I never played this expac? Back in the day I quit at the prepatch when they gutted talents and class fantasy.
I enjoyed this a lot when it was live. Don't know why people hate it so much
Because it's a weird mix between old and new
why would I come back to the expansion that made me leave?
I'm done with WoW, I'm not coming back unless they make WoW2.
i would if they removed boosts/token and stopped botting
vanilla was enough. Why play the destroyed Azeroth version?
what is this the 22nd time they tried to necro this classic corpse
You think I will, but I won’t.
Death Wing will have his way with your Stone Mother
I dont think I do and I wont
At this rate we're going to get Warlords of Draenor Classic lol
wow yea cata. the xpac everyone dropped.
it will be ghost town
why would i come back to the xpac that made me drop the game in the first place? so i can see the game dive headfirst into utter shit again?
Black person i play on private server's only since Classic Vanila die
>People could have had Classic+
>Instead they chose progression meaning they'd eventually progress to the shitty expansions
lol
it'd be like the old school runescape developers progressing to runescape 3
Playing Turtle WoW atm, Cata is a shit tier expansion
I started at Cata so it's a good expansion :^)
>SoD is just retail-
>Cata delayed because they know nobody wants to play it
I don't understand how they can be so oblivious to what people want. Why would anyone want cata again? It already exists in retail unchanged...
my tbc character is nowhere to be found so no? good job blizzard
>ruin game
>rerelease old version to cash in on nostalgia
>ruin it AGAIN
These israelites literally feed off suffering don't they
how could you tell?
Bizzdrones have always been known to eat shit and ask for seconds.
I quit during this expac when the panda trailer released. I saw where WoW was headed (literally kung fu panda) and I nope'd the frick out.
never played CATA so i wont.
One of the worst iterations of WoW

He's probably referring to the leveling experience where you get an overtuned ability and infinite mana from level 10.
A lot of cut content too

>Cata is NOT classic
don't change my mind
I'll play because class balance of this and pandaland is peak
Oh, I'll come back. But, heh... not for Cata.
i would rather play hardcore, because then when i inevitably die it's a natural place to unsub until i get the itch to play again.
>playing SoD

Nice gaming experience
you're eastern euro so who cares
Still waiting for the airplane battles advertised for WotlK back in the day.
BRING BACK THE PANDAAAS
