Except Tim used to make a big stink how it wasn’t just about the money but giving the consumer a fair market and multiple choices to purchase from. Now he’s flagrantly trying to insert himself into every platform like the moronic crybaby on the playground forcing the adults to make the other kids play with him.

        Anonymous

He's just jealous that other companies were more successful than him like Valve, but rather than trying to compete fairly, he's asking the courts to let him win.
He's literally like a child complaining to their parent that their sibling is playing with a toy which he originally didn't want.

Fortnite has been floundering pretty hard because the new seasons suck and the new skins are ESG fueled nonsense that no one wants. They made money when they were selling coomer skins, but now that is forbidden. Their latest season was pretty popular because it was a throwback season to the first chapter of Fortnite, but I don't think that will last unless they change course and start putting good skins out again.

Fortnite makes like 2-3 billion a year while Unreal is around 100 million a year, the store brought in about 42 million last year and the rest don't bring in a lot. So Fortnite is like 99% of their revenue .

No but after a certain point a platform doesn't deserve more and more money just for the privilege of existing. Server infrastructure isn't getting scarcer. The features are already developed. We could give 100% of our rev to Steam so they can dividend it all into executive bank accounts with zero reinvestment. Or we could give ten percent, and with Valve's economy of scale they'd have more than enough money to keep running and innovating as long as they don't self sabotage. Then that money could go to the people who actually develop the damn product for real reinvestment. In Randy's case he's just a rich b***h who wants more Fortnite bux, but that 30% isn't a Randy tax. Everyone pays it to make Gabe richer without reinvestment because his platform has the privilege of existing without real competition.

          >Everyone pays it to make Gabe richer without reinvestment because his platform has the privilege of existing without real competition.
Then why does steam keep getting updated with useful new features?
It was already running the show when curators were added.
          When the workshop was added.
When the holiday events in the client were added.
When the extra profile features got added.
Steam's seen so little competition because Gabe is continuing to put money into it and making it harder and harder to catch up.

They just updated SteamVR at the end of October, adding built-in functionality to support wireless/stand-alone VR like the Meta Quest headsets. So that's another instance of Valve updating shit that doesn't really benefit them (though maybe that is just part of their plan to support the Deckard, who knows).

Microsoft store (PC) has the same cut as EGS, itch lets the dev set a 0% cut if they want: no fortnite.
