>you will never be trapped in an anime virtual reality MMO video game
Why fricking live? I would trade my useless physical body instantly for a life like this.

anon VR is already a thing and it was mid, face it life will always be shit and no tech will change that.
No facial and body surgeons are making life a lot better, troons are unironically advancing this field.
yeah not yet close to mind transportation into a timeless space
kinda a high bar tbqh
Troon mentality.
>anime virtual reality MMO
The grind...
Oh god the grind
The MMO grind is NOTHING compared to the IRL grind
THE BARRIERS HAVE BEEN LIFTED, THEY'RE ALL GONE. WE CAN GO BACK AND FORTH FREELY NOW
If I absolutely must be trapped in a video game, I want it to be right here!
>Zoomers don't even know what .hack is and associate being trapped in an MMO with Sword Shit Online.
I want to go back.
I see fewer and fewer SAO fans nowadays, at least.
What is funny, is that SAO came before .hack...Matrix did it first before them, so meh
>Matrix did it first before them, so meh
good bait d e s u
What is funny, is that pic related came before Matrix and is actually about being trapped in a VR MMO... Tron did it first before them, so meh.
That’s how I remember the show
Came in here to say this too. The game even explicitly has you log out to desktop in order to progress the story.
And even then the enviable situation was never that they were in a virtual MMO, it was that Kite had friends that were cool as hell.
no one liked .hack//sign beyond a soundstrack
I liked it though
Eh, it's okay but there is an excess of talking. The music and designs are best part though.
I loved it. Cool change of pace from all the other anime I'd watched up until that point.
Seethe more. Your shitnime will never be as popular as SAO
Still has the best soundtrack in anime ever
Which did you enjoy more?
IMOQ series or GU series?
I only ever loved the original, none of the rest of the IP really grabbed me.
I liked them both even.
I liked IMOQ more just because it felt more like an MMORPG game people would play, and I thought it was more difficult and I enjoyed having to find gear and manage inventories of people I'm taking on missions. Being able to obtain rare weapons also felt like powertripping. Getting the right item from data draining an enemy was usually massive.
I liked the story of GU and I liked the gameplay more, but it didn't feel like an MMO. Also it was too easy, you could kind of smash through the game on autopilot as long as you were leveled up appropriately with only a few bosses really stopping you.
.hack IMOQ was an unforgettable experience between my friends and I playing then and watching SIGN /LoT. However, GU and especially Recode with mods is great for replays and IMOQ is objectively kinda bad in many ways.
IMOQ. The only bad thing I can say about IMOQ is the constant menu navigation during combat.
GU has slightly better and more tolerable gameplay, but that's it. Everything else it has just lacks in comparison to IMOQ.
COME WITH ME IN THE TWILIGHT ON A SUMMER NIGHT FOR A WHILE
TAKE ME BACK TO THE LAND
where my yearnings were born
now imagine you're trapped in a shitty one
never played the games never watch the show, i do like the music from the anime and thats all i i know of it.
There is a good chance no one in this thread has PS2 copies of IMOQ
I have sealed copies of Infection, Mutation and Outbreak. I'll have Quarantine soon hopefully.
>sealed
Collectors are dumb
Chad. Might want to protect those from dust.
Sure do. I even have 2 copies of Q
Nice, I only got GU sealed, IMOQ was too expensive (for me) to keep extras back at release. GU went on a bunch of sales
Extremely old picture but here you go
sold my copies about 7 years ago. regret it. think I got 120 for quarantine?
>get stuck in some new mmo game that barely anyone knows
>it's a basic mmo game
>there's millions, even 100's of millions of people who know mmo's
>they have trained their bodies and minds better and longer then you.
I don't mean just video gamers, i mean athletes, hunters, special forces, survivalists and more. People with vast knowledge and skills in real life.
>You still end up at the BOTTOM of the ranking board.
>unless you get some cheat item/weapon.
>and no matter which class you choose, you probably chose wrong.
(is there a pic with 100 classes? I guess this will do)
I mean if a new game came out today, do you think you would be near the top if you played it right when it came out?
Or even known by more then a few dozen or maybe 100 other losers?
Yet you expect a virtual world that feels real to be different for you?
I've been playing f2p mmos on release before you were even born
>Wait, shit, I take it ba--
I remember watching this with my brother after a surgery and the face he made when a literal tentacle rape scene happened
>First time?
I got really fricking high and watched the abridged version a while back. It somehow salvaged that fricking mess of a show including the tentacle shit.
You are here, no escape from my visions of the world.
You will cry all alone, but it does not mean a thing to me.
So are they gay
Yes.
This anime was entirely carried by its soundtrack. It's so fricking good
We will never see music like Yuki Kaijura's ever again.
What is she even doing nowadays?
I used to play PSO so much that I would dream about playing PSO, then I'd realize I wasn't actually playing the game I WAS in the game as my character and I couldn't log out.
I feel you man, I used to have similar dreams as a kid only I was isekai'd to the setting of what game I was dreaming as as my character rather than just being trapped in the video game itself.
The game that was closest to .hack in terms of soundtrack for me was always Mabinogi, it was always a shitty korean MMO but in a way it was definitely the closest I've ever felt to being exactly what .Hack was trying to represent.
A broken, poorly balanced game, played by everyone around the world to just vibe and do random shit.
People talk about Modern MMOs being dead or soulless, and what they really mean is that players don't just relax anymore, they're constantly out to get their numbers higher and refuse to relax and enjoy the the nice landscapes
True but the story and writing was excellent, though Noir will always be Bee Train's masterwork.
>tfw you were born too early to engage in hyper realistic cybersex with BlackRose at Delta Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground
Fricking moronic coomer should be castrated
I miss it
>needs a shotcaller for anyone to do anything
Yeah I'm not watching this casual dogshit
WATCH THE TAIL
50 DKP MINUS
we don’t get anime ost’s like this anymore
?si=fD4AAKZV6CYtgz-o
The entire soundtrack feels like the strongest nostalgia for me. Like when i listen to it I remember being a kid watching toonami, I remember childhood crushes, I remember PS2 gaming, dreaming about the future, I remember imagining being in a world better than this one. All brought forth by a few tracks.
BTW the show ended on an unresolved cliffhanger right?
No, it ended with the main character being taken out of the game world and he was revealed to be a she I rewatched it about 4 years ago so I don’t remember much
Ahh ok that sounds familiar.
Guess its time for a rewatch of this and Kinos Journey.
>BTW the show ended on an unresolved cliffhanger right?
Only in the sense that we didn't get a "Where are they now?" epilogue outside of a Tsukasa meeting what's-her-face IRL, I don't recall any particular loose ends though.
The main character was a girl who falls in love with the Subaru and the post-anime LN indicates they are still dating in college as adults
It had an ending but the show was literally only 1/3rd of the story. It takes place at the same time as the first 4 games as well as 4 books that were Black Rose's point of view that have a frick load of explanations for whats going on outside of the game.
The bronw girl was a Middle or High schooler right?
does it matteR?
yes this is important
y tho?
cuz i old men cant have irl meetings with underage girls
That ending with the MC meeting with that hotwheels chick was so weird, like they had so little interaction in-game but they ended up together, it felt so desperate.
>crippled and gay X mindbroken
What beautiful couple.
It was kino
Every bee train story back then ended in yuri
>Noir was a love triangle about three girls
>Madlax had the girl and her maid
>El Cazador had a latina and e-girl
When will there be a new .hack//
thank goodness
Never, you and everyone you know should have bought Recode.
Never, it's painfully obvious CC2 doesn't any anything to do with .hack// anymore.
I did, but I doubt it could of changed CC2 minds about making another .hack// game.
CC2 wants to make another .hack game though. A year ago the Vice President even said he wants to remake IMOQ. The issue is Bamco, they own the IP and they need to give the OK and they probably never will since .hack doesn't sell.
Anon, they have been saying the same things for over 15 years. All they do is pass the buck off to Bandai Namco. I have been a fan since before the launch of Mutation. It's never happening.
>The issue is Bamco
He repeats the blame on Bamco and not enough sales for years despite that .hack is one of bamcos biggest money makers during the PS2 era. GU even had more success than their shovelware naruto games that they kept working on nonstop. They even did extremely well with the GU remaster for sales and generating interest. CC2 simply doesn't care and will shift blame instead of being honest with fans.
everything after GU has either been ok or really bad, only saving grace this series has left is to retread .hack//Fragment and release a game based off of The World R:X as a JRPG MUD.
Tsukasa was never trapped in the World
him and sora were the only trapped players that maintained their consciousness due to Morgana wanting to torture them
>Him
>him
I remember this fricking show. Didn't the MC end up dating her in game GF IRL, but she turned out to be in a wheelchair? Imagine meeting someone for the first time who you love and finding out she's a cripple
iirc one of the games had a news article about a player who met his ingame wife and it turned out to be his mom
>If you like piña colada. And getting caught in the rain.
at this point most people moved on/died so there's no point in making a new one
>.hack// also took Kite's design from Naruto.
>Yoshiyuki Sadamoto based Kite's proportions off of Naruto. At the time he had no idea that CyberConnect2 would go on to develop the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series.
>Yoshiyuki Sadamoto based Kite's proportions off of Naruto
translation: he drew a child instead of an anorexic teenager (female (Shinji))
Magumbos!
>intertwining multimedia that acted as continuity
and those suck to this very day.
whats preventing them to make a decent MMO...
It's been a long fricking time, I watched it as it aired, but if I remember correctly the ending was just them passing by each other IRL without recognition.
How many games are in this series?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.hack#Games
for me, its pic related
THIS for me aswell. It was the fun side of being in The World with friends, home bases and adventuring. It should have had more chapters.
Besides, i read it in 2004, back when i didnt know how boring MMOs actually were, it was a magical time
Imagine an anime so bad that it rips off something else before that thing even exists
>ADHD zoomer filtered
They actually come out right at the same time.
wut
Came* Yes, SAO manga (I believe it was online daily manga, if I remember correctly) and .hack// came out almost at the same time. .hack// also took Kite's design from Naruto.
What is it about mediocre JRPGs like Tales, Hack and Neptunia that cultivates a tiny fanbase of people obsessed with them?
FUN
U
N
.hack was a genuine product of its time, especially when starting off with intertwining multimedia that acted as continuity
>anime
>vidya
>more anime that came with the vidya
>manga
>light novels
>canonical hentai
I'm sorry please explain that last one there?
I had never heard of that. I do know of the light novel that didn't get translated that actually let you know that Subaru and Tsukasa were dating.
You shouldn't lump .hack in with those. It genuinely nailed the early MMO experience minus the other players that do their best to frick it up.
Yeah but the gameplay is boring as shit. The only decent playing games cyberconnect has ever made were those furry robot ones.
unless you're injured or have an autoimmune disorder in which case I apologize for the following:
your physical body is useless because you are useless, you chose to be weak or fat or a skeleton, you chose not to discipline yourself, the problem with you isekai gays is that you think escaping to another world will make you no longer a loser, but if you go to another world believing and acting the same way then you're still going to be a loser, just in another world
>or have an autoimmune disorder
bros...
god that arc was such a tonal shift I'm still not over it
I miss Toonami Gankerros, I miss it a lot
Hack is dogshit series that aged like a milk
You have aged like milk!
cottage cheese motherfricker
id rather live in the ready player one oasis world
How the frick you gonna live in an MMO world with no toilets
Sir?
Go on, post your MMO with toilets in it.
.Hack didn't work that way. You still took breaks and did life sustaining activities but real life appeared drained of color. You were basically a sluggish heroin addict outside the game.
Sword Art went full moron, stole all of .Hack's ideas and said "NO, YOU'RE LITERALLY TRAPPED IN THE GAME FOREVER LOLOLOL"
I love .hack but Log Horizon is the world I would wanna get stuck in.
Everytime I watch this though it makes me wanna go back to something like FF14.
I read the first 4 LNs so far and I was surprised how much detailed attention was put onto the systems of the world and the ways characters would believably react to encountering problems, testing, and learning everything they can after the confusion. And the world reacts to the isekai'd players in turn in methodical ways of its own. It's the only LN I've read, I'm wary that the vast majority of other LNs don't bother to be that thoughtful
OPEN YOUR HEAAAAAART
I know this sounds strange but the world probably never changed more in the past than it did in the span of the last twenty-five or so years, since the dawn of the new millennium. The internet, games, culture, technology, people....games like IMOQ really feel like a relic of a distant past.
>I would trade my useless physical body instantly for a life like this
Mmmm, which other group of "people" share this line of thought with weebs?
it was way funnier when this statement was nothing more than a mean spirited joke
>proposition the concept of surpassing the limits of humanity
>you immediately think of chopping your dick off
Grim
SAO being released and its consequences have been a disaster for the anime. Besides SAO being boring as frick, we're not getting copycat clones because nips, chinks, and whatever brown asian that exist lack any form of creativity.
The funny thing about SAO is that "trapped in VRMMO" is only like one small part of the wider story. It's far more original than the bad VRMMO copies that came out after it (including .hack, SAO's web novel was 2001) and pretty much the only people who seethe about SAO are anituber cultists.
It’s never coming back, is it bros?
nope
How come I must know?
Where obsession needs to go?
?si=HGxbkzoVagupdxhx
Didn't this game use PSO a lot for its inspiration? The honeycomb photon shit, brown hunewearl girl, white fomar mage, etc.
