Not trying to rain on your parade but I don't believe he was all that important. Killing the blacksmith who can repair your armor and the innkeeper who sells food and drink would be much more inconvenient for people.
oh i've certainly moved on. it's just an uncontestable fact that WoW still feels the best to play even after a million lobotomies and communist china tier purges of staff

My first experience was not being able to play it for over a week because the servers kept crashing. I remember it was when the boat came into Ratchet.
You don't want vanilla WoW again, you want the internet and your life as it was in 2004 when vanilla WoW launched again. Which, I get it, that's fair, but let's call a spade a spade.
Frick yeah dude, i'm nostalgic as frick for those days. Watching stupid flash videos on albinoblacksheep with friends, playing counterstrike all night and then of course discovering wow. God damn take me back
I definitely want the Internet from back then, but not my life. Well, I wouldn't mind, but I would enjoy experiencing the early 2000s with my level of wealth and knowledge
Nah, not true at all.
I'm a zoomer and played classic when it came out a couple years ago, I have fond memories or playing Halo Reach and CoD in middle school but I absolutely loved classic.
it's worth mentioning I got into WoW during MoP and while I enjoyed it the classic zones always felt superior.
"I" didn't change, games did.
Darkshore and Tirisfall are great. Why did the weather system looked better almost 2 decades ago anyway? It's really atmospheric when it's foggy and raining
You can ask this about just about anything. Why has everything gotten worse? Darkshore when it's raining is one of the most atmospheric things you can experience.
it was cool as frick, orcs were created by space aliens (or demons) to frick up planets for the burning legion, undead is also just a plague created by space alien. WoW fricked up the lore, not warcraft 3
it was cool as frick, orcs were created by space aliens (or demons) to frick up planets for the burning legion, undead is also just a plague created by space alien. WoW fricked up the lore, not warcraft 3
Unfortunately... you can blame the WoW community for that. Unless you are the best at something, you might as well be the worst at something. 2nd best isn't good enough. When Blizz tried to buff up feral cat dps in either BC or WOTLK, rogues complained "B-B-B-BUT DRUIDS BRING BUFFS, THEY BRING BATTLE REZ, THEY CAN INNERVATE HEALERS AND THROW OUT SOME HEALS THEMSELVES WHEN SHTF. I GOT NOTHING!"
Ohhh... so NOW utility matters. Before that it's just "droods sux lol"
Yup, due to how stats and talents work your resto/balance stuff is basically vestigial pieces if you play cat druid, and cat is useless if you play resto or balance. Hybrids had problems in vanilla, but instead of making sure that you could do a bit of everything, they just made it so you picked whether you would become a discount rogue, a discount priest, a discount warrior or a discount mage. It was easier to balance, but it killed the hybrid fantasy.
What they shouldve done is make intellect transform into str/agi, SP turn into AP, etc. Then in human form you could toss some heals and spells, and in cat form you had decent stats. Change bossfights to require some damage/heals switch roles during different phases, and done.
>kino. Shame they never tried to make hybrids hybrids
That's why vanilla is the best. Paladins don't have wings and interrupt. Mages don't have invisibility and infinite mana/survivability. Warriors don't have mobility, etc. every class is designed to have weaknesses that may or may not be undone by epic gear later. There are no sweaty arenas which destroyed class identity and mechanics, there are no flying mounts which destroyed the world, etc.
>every class is designed to have weaknesses that may or may not be undone by epic gear later.
moron. Every class exists to get fricked raw by Warriors, Rogues, and Mages. Imagine rolling Paladin because you want to smite heathens only to learn that Ret and Prot are meme specs and Holy is the only thing that works. Dumb fricking homosexual, kys.

I knew my place and I loved it. Then I went to private servers as a huntergay and abused potions and engineering equipment
People shit on "Wow graphics" as far back as 2006, and I was always annoyed by that. Always went: "The frick do you mean? It's a stylized game. It looks fricking exactly how it should look".
Mulgore is comfy af. And it's the one Horde starting zone that isn't dried arid forsaken land. Also balances out the horde since the Tauren aren't evil at all.
i wasn't old enough to actually play the game. but i was in love with the world and basically only hit 60 just before naxx was released, despite having played semi regularly(1-2 hours a day, 4 hours on the weekend). But had fun just running around, doing random stuff.
When TBC came out I suddenly understood the game and started raiding, gearing etc. Everyone I knew IRL who played then quit in wrath, and so did I.
But I started to play on private servers and only became back to retail during the last part of BFA.
Really wish they release all the expansions as a classic version so I can play and enjoy the stuff.
you never experienced asheron's call full PVP server where the newbie area was a kung fu fight to the death with punches and kicks and the experienced players would sit there camping on a roof sniping us with cross bows while we fought for our lives
imagine thinking casual babbys first mmo made for toddlers with giant exclamation marks everywhere and held your hand the entire time, with a faceroll easy combat system. lol, wow is literally made for toddlers.
Is it possible for an MMO to not die? How do you keep politics and modern culture out of it? How do you stop a good company bloating into what modern Blizzard is now? And destroying everything good it created.
>have to put in like 7 fricking discs to install the game >play it, messed around >didn't like it and quit after level 15 (made a dwarf hunter) >went back to playing Ragnarok online instead
it was only 1 disc and you downloaded the updates
but yeah >you dont have enough RAM for this game >what the hell is RAM? dont care >tauren druid >get to level 12ish, decide to go to orgrimmar >as soon as I walk in, dads shitty del freezes >can never log back on
so fkn epic bros
Playing on classic era at the moment. (EU servers because American culture is disgusting) Legitimately feels like what it did when I was younger. No rush, no constant need to keep up with the content. Just enjoying my time. Legitimately feels good. Anyone who wants a relaxing and fun time should join. I'm not telling you what to do though. Do whatever makes you happy.
EU classic era on the firemaw cluster is full. It's the PvP cluster so there isn't much hardcore going on. I've never seen so many people levelling. It's busier than when I played in vanilla. I'm getting 10-19 WSG which hasn't happened in years. There are groups for everything. Every area has more than 50 people levelling when I've checked /who. (EE times from about 1pm until midnight) Everyone has gone back to classic era because blizzard are pretty much incompetent. The general feeling is relaxed and people having a good time.
There is a high population US cluster as well. I just would never play on a US servers because US culture is absolutely disgusting and the people are obnoxious and annoying. I really don't care about trans rights nonsense in every public channel.
so if I give blizz 15 bucks right now I can make a dwarf priest and start playing with people on firemaw?

Turtle wow is fan fiction and has jannies who will ban you randomly. They also have tents which make the entire game pointless and give you 200% xp at all times. It's a mess of a server and doesn't capture the feeling of vanilla at all.

NTA, but free is better. I play on Retro-WoW. They have a fun custom deathmatch BG as well that takes place in Zul'Farrak. First team to 50 kills wins. It goes about as messy as you'd imagine but it's fun and I think I enjoy it more than WSG, AB, or AV which are actually kinda boring and de-emphasize PVP for objectives (why?)
Anonymous
>streetfight with no objective is better
My opinion is that your opinion is very bad. Also free is only bad if you're a NEET without a job. With Blizzard, I can log into my character I made in vanilla years and years ago. With Free, you're doomed if they get a bit upset because you stole their mining node.

Nah, I probably have more money than you as well. When you pay for WoW you feel more pressured to play because you pay for the time. When it's free you just log on whenever you want and you don't feel bad if you don't log on for a week like "frick I paid for that week, hmm."
Also, BGs were never that fun. What was fun was when a bunch of you (Alliance or Horde) fought a bunch of them out in the open and it turned into a big brawl and your only goal was to wipe them out. You like BGs because you are a moronic NPC cattle who likes to stand by a flag waiting for it to cap. You're probably going to have a nice day soon as well. NPCs like you tend to be hopeless trash.

t. homosexual zoomer who never played vanilla
BGs were fricking amazing when they first launched, early early AV was INSANE when no one knew what the frick to do you use to have literally giant fights at the mine and everyone at the time were basically WC3 players so it was crazy feeling like a third person playable unit on a massive WC3 map.
current day AV is nothing like vanilla launch AV, you could call in wolf riders and all kinds of crazy shit in the launch version and matches lasted for literally a week.
Anonymous
I did play Vanilla and yes, AV used to be a big messy slug out that lasted for hours with 0 progress on either side. But that's not what AV is today and it never will be again. Today people just run past each other and try to kill the other's faction leader. That's it. It ain't PVP.
I think the deathmatch BG on Retro-WoW is a fun little experiment. Only thing that has to be tuned better is the respawns. You can spawn on top of an enemy sometimes and that is not ideal. Still, I think the ZF deathmatch is 80% fun, 20% frickery.

it was also nice because back then datamining wasn't commercialized yet by wowhead gays, the most you would get were a few mpq model rips on some random ass forum that maybe 50 people would view tops.
So when the honor system was first released and everyone was just chain ganking at zepplins no one had zero clue they would give out special tabards for holding top honor kills. I forgot how many weeks they counted for it but I remember grouping with the shaman who ended up winning horde side on Arthas.
Funny enough you NEVER see these homosexual e-celebs and youtubers who claim to know everything vanilla ever mention these tabards, I wonder how much an account with one would be worth today? they didn't even give them out on classic its a piece of WoW history that's so buried it's insane.

Problem is the community has changed and that's the one thing you can NEVER get back even if you gave yourself amnesia to start completely fresh. Basically, people know MMORPGs today. It's difficult to explain what a clusterfrick it was playing with random people back in the day.
It's the genre-wide mentality that has changed. You can find a small niche for whatever you want, but that's not indicator of the overall genre health. In fact it might indicate the opposite.
I don't know, I think the only important factor is the individual and their perception of the experience they are having. I can go back and I'm right at home. I never have that feeling of "it's just not the same" as when I try to play Fallout 3 or other old favourites. For me, old wow has never given me different feelings, but I'm more in love with the game itself than the community.
I remember playing it for the first time in 2004. It was my first premium MMO experience. Even just signing in was exciting because it felt like I was taking part in something historic. It seriously did feel like magic, especially since I was a kid. I wouldn’t even want to have that experience again because it was perfect the way it was. I didn’t even play that long. I got to level 60 and called it quits soon after that to focus on becoming a professional drawgay.
I'm older now, so I installed the free trial of retail and just run around at level 20. I can't talk in channels and can't trade with players, but I don't want to do that, I want to fish and grind anglers rep.
>played wow growing up as a kid >made friends online I still talk to today, and have known for longer than most of my RL friends.
Every so often I get an itch to just log onto wow and go do the Westfall/Barrens quests, or do a dungeon run. The Vanilla dungeons were great and it sucks ass that the designs after vanilla were much sorter. the feeling of getting to deadmines for the first time as a kid, blowing down that door and seeing the huge ogre juggernaught ship is stuck in my head until I die. There is also just something about the loading screen art for vanilla dungeons that felt so much more entrancing. I don't know if it is just rose tinted glasses because I grew up with them, or perhaps the picture sketch of a vague humanoid exploring the dungeon that makes them better. DM, and RFD come to mind as some of my favorite.
I'm not even that big on the warcraft aesthetics but it's really evident they were the result of genuine creative vision and passion. I think it's pretty obvious modern blizzard just make assembly line crap vaguely copying the old aesthetics.
first time was actually shit for me, if you played launch the servers were FRICKED queues were insane and even if you got in you would fricking slide around on your knees stuck in the looting animation until the server crashed for the 50th time.
it was one of the VERY few periods of history that blizzard gave out free playtime I don't think they gay free time like that ever again for almost 10 years straight.
I actually did in 2019 and played so much I lost my job. It was even better than 2004 because in 2004 I was way too busy with high school. I picked it up again to try hardcore and my thoughts on hardcore are it's too crowded. Way too many people are in the low level areas. It's like playing on launch day every day. I have to skip so many quests and even mobs are hard to find at times. If Activision does official hardcore servers, this is a problem that needs to be fixed.
>Been playing WoW on and off since the OG open beta >Dropped it during BFA >Got shadowlands for free and never once played it >Got 7 days of free game time for Dragonlands >Immediately use the 7 days of game time and play classic WotLK to frick around on my druid
I miss the days where I would play WoW every waking minute of my free time. I tried playing the classic version when it came out and ended up raiding MC once before I realized how much time I wasted playing that game. It never occurred to me how much time I sat around and did nothing while I waited for shit to happen until my time was actually precious. I'll still probably use this free game time until the TotK releases.
>finally download the entire game >make the first char i can >human warrior >get the hang of things >get quest to go to goldshire >its raining ingame >its raining irl >riders on the storm by the doors is playing
it was magical. i ended up having over 300 days /played from freshman year to senior of high school. I didn't idle much.
I just listen to various soundtracks from the earlier zones on youtube whenever I feel the 'itch'. That satisfies me because that's what I miss the most, the atmosphere.
The actual game and it's players can go jump as far as I'm concerned.
In the end, it wasn't Blizzard that killed WoW. It was the WoW community.
I suppose you could blame Blizz for listening to all the complainers and the vocal minority too though. But I think part of why Vanilla WoW is good is because it is a true vision for something. An adventure, an experience, etc. Now Blizzard treats WoW like some sort of "community management" project and trying to keep people entertained with worthless bullshit.
>It was the WoW community.
No.
They have literal troons and other diversity hires running the thing.
They came up with the "secret forum for the chosen ones (ecelebs) to help design the game", either they ignored that, or what we got is its result.
They drove the community away and what's left are those terminally addicted and ecelebs, who make money shitting on or praising the game.
EEEEHHHHH... for me... WoW died much earlier than that. When they started pandering to China with Mists of Panderia, I wasn't really into that. I actually quit the game then and didn't come back until WoW classic.
Yeah let's just ruin this whole high-fantasy aesthetic we got going on and just do CHINESE. Today, with all the trannies and sexual deviants running things, it's just a mockery. But the game was long dead for me. And I'd say after Cata is when that decline set-in.
The blizzard fanbase has always been the worst thing about blizzard tbh. I hate the term "toxic" to describe people but got blizz fans i think it actually applies. At least for WoW onward. I've never met so many people who get so hostile over nothing.
Yup. I once had a pug group for ZG completely fall apart because "the hunter brought the wrong pet". The tank who obviously had a huge ego took issue with the hunter's choice of pet, and after some arguing the tank dropped out and some others followed and that was it. 2 hours of putting a group together for a last moment ZG before the reset and these idiots fight over nothing and then it's all over. Made me rethink playing this shitty game.
Blizzard killed wow when they decided on their expansion model. Stopped developing the world and every patch made the last one irrelevant. Spent all their time on raid tiers.
The community transformed along with the game. People that didn't like the direction left and those that did stayed around or started playing. No surprise it ended up as garbage as the game did.
True, previous zones becoming basically obsolete and spreading the player base over more zones killed off a ton of stuff. The move from conventional capitals to that eyesore shattrath in particular stands out to me
>WoW community begs for nearly 2 decades for WoW classic >Finally it launches >PVPtards level exclusively in dungeons and raidlog
Vanilla WoW never had good gameplay, the soul came from questing and meeting people and people played it in the most soulless way imaginable.
Embarrasing.
People were always looking for the most efficient ways of leveling. People did quests because they gave good xp. No one was reading the quest texts, they just asked "Hey should I go to Tanaris? Is there a load quests for me to do? You think I can hit level 34 there?"
So... in a way. People haven't changed. If people knew back then what we know now, they would have played that way.
my first time playing wow it was such insane sensory overload, just in terms of audio.. the music, the little sound effects when you open your bags, the chime when you find a new area, etc
It was the other way around for me, I played a Dwarf Hunter. I thought those lava spiders were awesome, and wondered if I could tame one someday. now I play almost exclusively horde on pservers
I don't think anyone is nostalgic for MOP. That is pretty much when Blizzard's zoomer audience joined in on WoW and they are perfectly happy with all the homosexualry and pandering that goes on in modern day WoW.
I played since Vanilla but I did not hate Cata. I actually think Cata was a good expansion despite all its shortcomings. You're not trying hard enough, troll.

If you solo level and do each instance at least once, you don't. I leveled 5 chars to 60 in classic.
It's not necessarily the fastest way to level, at least in the 55+ region. There are a bunch of quests making you travel long distances at that point, so if you just want to go fast, it's better to grind. I ended up doing a full level just grinding ghosts in winterspring because it would've taken me longer to travel to EPL when classic released (was among the first 20ish people to 60 on my server on my druid).

Yes. It was an adventure. You didnt even know where to go or which level is which zone. You just walked into the world and found out.
I'm fine with this because I moved on from WoW halfway through WotLK
Play other games. Stop being a stunted moron who continues clinging to the rotting corpse of a game over a decade past its sell-by date. The only people who defend this shit are clinically addicted spergs who just aren't aware that other games exist.
Good. Vanilla WoW always sucked. It was acceptable when it came out, because other games of that nature were even fricking worse.
We liked Vanilla because we literally didn't have anything better, and basically all the shit they added from vanilla to lich king was pure improvements that made the game better. Including getting rid of skill trees and dungeon travel.
Doesn't mean you can't have fond memories of it, I do, for sure. But all these gays saying "x ruined WoW" can suck a big wiener. There's a reason classic WoW fricking died after 2 weeks.
>Including getting rid of skill trees
Skill trees got the chop in cata. Only people that were happy about it were cookie cutter types that had no choice about their builds anyway.
>Cata
You are right of course. I don't know why I had lich king in mind, it was at the end of cata they got removed. My bad. >cookie cutter
Almost all builds were cookie cutter. Specially in PvE. I played a Shadow priest since vanilla, and I think the month after they introduced choices instead of trees, I re-specced more than vanilla to cata combined.
Most Skill trees looked the same. As in: You take the extra skills, and you take the talents that give % damage, some fillers with plus range and threat reduction and whatnot, and then the rest goes "wherever who cares".
It's not like you could ever have say, 2 shadow priests in BC PvE who have vastly different talent choices. No you pick all the same shit, and dump the rest in Discipline.
People say "Oh cookie cutter specs" but it's literally either you go cookie cutter or you just have a shit spec. Who's gonna take me on a raid if I specced 31/0/30 because I thought power infusion was cooler than Shadow form? Shadow priest with no Shadow form and no Vampiric touch.
Now asking the user: "Hey, do you want a short burst high speed buff, or a long term low speed buff, or the ability to remove movement hindering effects?" now that's an actual CHOICE where you can have a prefference and I will die on this hill.
Original skill trees fricking sucked.
>> >I still hope for classic+ even though I know they'd frick it up anyway.
they will just make the same changes blizzard made back then and you end up with retail.
It's probably for the best I didn't, but I sometimes regret not getting as into it as my friends. I have happy memories of exploring early WoW and making a few characters, but I never got any past level 35 or so. Good times nonetheless. Mostly just wandered around and enjoyed the world with my brothers.
That era came and went though, playing it now on a private server or something wouldn't be the same. It's the same with Phantasy Star Online. It's still awesome to play, but it's always a bit lonely compared to playing it back in the Dreamcast or Gamecube days.

i'm aware the fights themselves are probably relatively simple, but like, is it easy to get invited to groups and stuff without a guild?
I'm playing hardcore character on turtle wow. No AH, no trades and groups with people below or above 5 level of you, no mail, no lfg, no second life. I'm forced to use obscure items with charges, like bag of marbles. Pretty close to first experience.
For nearly two decades I've been amendment about never playing it until it either becomes a one time purchase or goes free to play. Still haven't played it. At this rate I probably never will.
Same here. Never ever going to pay a subscription to play a single game. My only knowledge of WoW is from the leroy jenkins video. (I played and loved wc1, 2 and 3+frozen throne though)
I only ever played it to get in this baddy's panties back in the day and nothing happened because she was an actual android. Like made out with her for an hour with no hardon. I hate WoW post-Activision in every official capacity, Classic included, and nothing will change my mind.
I'll always just play a Vanilla/TBC/WotLK private server whenever I get the itch.

WoW was big not because of wow but because blizzard was god at wow's release. They had 3 golden Games before wow and blizzard fans were fanatics ready to buy anything next. Most of wow's players didnt even know what a mmo was.
i was dragged into WoW by a girl and i never heard of Blizzard or MMOs. figured i'd just get this free trial thing over with since she won't stop bothering me otherwise and never touch it again but then the game consumed me
It doesn't matter how many times it happen, it doesn't matter if it happened in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2019, 2023
It doesn't matter if it's vanilla, retail, classic or private server.
I still fricking laugh when some moron falls into the lava in RFC
For me, its the jumps in Wailing Caverns and Blackfathom Deeps.
Aesthetically pleasing, vertical movement, mild complexity to the corridors, cool boss fights, and early enough so when you get there classes aren't pushed into their niches and everyone isn't an elitist prick, and every item that falls is someone's new best item.
>healer calls for a mana break in front of Taragaman >tank starts goofing around and jumping back and forth while we wait >jumps into the lava >leaves the group and insta-logs out without a word
When LFG first came out me and my bro held a group hostage for like 2 hours by queuing as healer and tank and repeatedly pretending to fail the bfd jump, every time the whole group ended up disbanding we just found new members
I don’t care how shit blizztard make retail because I can just troll the third world era who play private servers, I have zero intention of ever raiding again, I don’t even care about getting max level, mmo players are just psychotic and it is fun to gank, troll and scam them
why do so many people pretend back in 2005 the game was filled with arms warrior dps raiders and arcane mages when in reality the meta always controlled the game?
It was an experience for sure, but it took over my life to an extreme degree, and also kind of ruined my enjoyment of videogames in general. I find it incredibly hard to get into and enjoy most single player games now which kinda sucks.
All in all i kind of wish id never played WoW at all, even though I have good memories of it (as well as bad, i experienced about the same level of social rejection in wow as i did in real life at the end of the day, sadly enough)
I used to kill that vendor every time I rode by. I have no idea what he sold but I like to think someone was inconvenienced.
Not trying to rain on your parade but I don't believe he was all that important. Killing the blacksmith who can repair your armor and the innkeeper who sells food and drink would be much more inconvenient for people.
Whoa, edgy.
I think he gave a quest
He sells the recipe to cook Raw Mudjaw Snapper.
Fishgays in shambles.
Final Fantasy XIV cope thread?
rent free
Always. Wowbabs just can't stand knowning a japanese dev made an mmorpg that BTFOd their beloved ancient game.
xiv warped you
i love the game but it sure as frick can never beat WoW in its prime. maybe if they ever decided to get rid of that godawful gcd and input lag
>WoW in its prime
yeah, like 15 years ago
time to move on, the trannies are in charge now
oh i've certainly moved on. it's just an uncontestable fact that WoW still feels the best to play even after a million lobotomies and communist china tier purges of staff
doesnt look like the trannies are in charge when they're out on the street crying. i think some other chosen people are at the helm
No one complaining about the GCD has made it past level 50
I’ve had enough of that troony game. A shame WoW is also a troony game too.
every mmorpg is a troony game, even Guild Wars 2
>You're all bark and no evidence of claims.
ya
>all the definitely not obsessed xivtroons jumping out of the woodwork to call this guy obsessed
lmao
no surprise that trannies, being almost universally autistic, lack any semblance of self-awareness
no one was talking about XIV until you brought it up just now mongo
made me laugh
>you will never be in middle school fricking itching to get back home and kill more kobolds again
why can't video games be fun again lads
Good riddance to this slop, I'm just glad to know you racist fricks are unhappy
take your meds
Bro what?
WoW made people racist? No way it's that based
ywnbaw
>excited to go home and pointlessly grind a number up
you were a lost cause just like the rest of us
le
As opposed to doing what, lmao, smoking behind the school and getting shitfaced with your chav "friends"?
>inb4 some screeching about developing a "useful" skill
And now I am at my fulltime job itching to get back home and shitpost on Ganker. Some things never change.
My first experience was not being able to play it for over a week because the servers kept crashing. I remember it was when the boat came into Ratchet.
It’s still fun though. I just quested through elwynn and am in west fall now.
Too many normalgays these days anyway.
General chat on alliance sounds like I’m on Ganker. Not sure what you mean.
Ganker has been normalgays pretending to be anons for over a decade.
I would go back to snes release.
I do miss playing games with people in person
This, we already saw the outcome when Classic was released.
It wasn't the same.
"I" didn't change, games did.
unsure about personal life. But frick yeah Id rather go back to the internet then.
These post made me download Azerothcore and play vanilla, TBC and WotLK completely alone by myself.
At least the grinding is fun. :DDD
I unironically enjoyed starting of Classic over Vanilla
Take me back bros...
Durotar hurts my eyes
I leveled up Horde in Vanilla WoW. That zone is awesome. Perfect alien landscape. That's when I decided this game was special.
turtle wow
must we continue posting the shit you gays keep trying to hide?
also dun morogh, home...
what are they hiding?
thats sorta cool
troony GMs is the vanilla/classic experience tho
the game still looks like that tho
play doh as frick
Tirisfal is melancholy kino
Darkshore and Tirisfall are great. Why did the weather system looked better almost 2 decades ago anyway? It's really atmospheric when it's foggy and raining
You can ask this about just about anything. Why has everything gotten worse? Darkshore when it's raining is one of the most atmospheric things you can experience.
I took this screenshot yesterday. Vanilla WoW has definitely stood the test of time.
playing on a crappy laptop though. Resolution ain't that great.
Space sshould never be in WoW
homie where the frick do you think the orcs came from
different dimensions
it was cool as frick, orcs were created by space aliens (or demons) to frick up planets for the burning legion, undead is also just a plague created by space alien. WoW fricked up the lore, not warcraft 3
Dark Portal was in WC2
>dungeon set druid
kino. Shame they never tried to make hybrids hybrids
Dumb fricking homosexual, kys.
paladin players are gays so they deserve to be healcucks
>paladin players are gays so they deserve to be healcucks
>Be a shitter ausgay with poor internet
>G it up with some warrior nerd with the eye axe in AB
>He kill 5-6 horde scum on the regular due me healing and cleansing
I knew my place and I loved it. Then I went to private servers as a huntergay and abused potions and engineering equipment
Mr. Kaplan, your breastmilk has been warmed up.
thats homogenisation. another problem, but different
People forget what a big factor the art style was. For example, EQ2 was doing realism and you never hear anyone getting nostalgic for its aesthetics.
People shit on "Wow graphics" as far back as 2006, and I was always annoyed by that. Always went: "The frick do you mean? It's a stylized game. It looks fricking exactly how it should look".
Just download classic and play. I did and I had a blast, I'll probably level another character soon.
Mulgore is boring af dude. Literally the zone where you log in, move 5 ft around, then log off.
Mulgore is comfy af. And it's the one Horde starting zone that isn't dried arid forsaken land. Also balances out the horde since the Tauren aren't evil at all.
Only one image in that collage isn't a fricking shithole
Silverpine Forest was kino. Almost nobody leveled there and it had a lot of unique/hidden enemies/stories/environments.
For me it's that dwarven mountain during some of the festivals, so many great memories
WTB SM BOOST 12G CATH/ARM
rip
i wasn't old enough to actually play the game. but i was in love with the world and basically only hit 60 just before naxx was released, despite having played semi regularly(1-2 hours a day, 4 hours on the weekend).
Me and my boys kinda will again when blizz c**ts shit out their official classic hardcore servers. And hopefully some "new" content as some point too.
That's what I'm doing right now, sucks to be you.
you never experienced asheron's call full PVP server where the newbie area was a kung fu fight to the death with punches and kicks and the experienced players would sit there camping on a roof sniping us with cross bows while we fought for our lives
imagine thinking casual babbys first mmo made for toddlers with giant exclamation marks everywhere and held your hand the entire time, with a faceroll easy combat system. lol, wow is literally made for toddlers.
Is it possible for an MMO to not die? How do you keep politics and modern culture out of it? How do you stop a good company bloating into what modern Blizzard is now? And destroying everything good it created.
wow was a mistake wish I never played it
Same
That's fine with me. I was there when it was relevant. I don't want to do it again.
>have to put in like 7 fricking discs to install the game
>play it, messed around
>didn't like it and quit after level 15 (made a dwarf hunter)
>went back to playing Ragnarok online instead
anyone else know this feel?
it was only 1 disc and you downloaded the updates
but yeah
>you dont have enough RAM for this game
>what the hell is RAM? dont care
>tauren druid
>get to level 12ish, decide to go to orgrimmar
>as soon as I walk in, dads shitty del freezes
>can never log back on
so fkn epic bros
sorry it wasn't 7 but actually 5 discs for WoW
Gaming was so cool back then. Fuuuuuck. I played Halo 2 and Halo 3 around this time as well. Us gamers used to have it so good.
Isn't classic dead other than HC? Can you find groups for quests and dungeons?
EU classic era on the firemaw cluster is full. It's the PvP cluster so there isn't much hardcore going on. I've never seen so many people levelling. It's busier than when I played in vanilla. I'm getting 10-19 WSG which hasn't happened in years. There are groups for everything. Every area has more than 50 people levelling when I've checked /who. (EE times from about 1pm until midnight) Everyone has gone back to classic era because blizzard are pretty much incompetent. The general feeling is relaxed and people having a good time.
Any US players ITT?
There is a high population US cluster as well. I just would never play on a US servers because US culture is absolutely disgusting and the people are obnoxious and annoying. I really don't care about trans rights nonsense in every public channel.
post proof
Login screen
so if I give blizz 15 bucks right now I can make a dwarf priest and start playing with people on firemaw?
Yes. This is at 3:30am realm time. Imagine it during the day.
but turtle wow has troll warlock...
Turtle wow is fan fiction and has jannies who will ban you randomly. They also have tents which make the entire game pointless and give you 200% xp at all times. It's a mess of a server and doesn't capture the feeling of vanilla at all.
>cash shop shit
>tents
>troony jannies with special non wow models
this sounds like a worse classic wow with a different revenue source
It is. People are just pumping characters for sale sitting in their dull jobs. In the end it seems like there are a lot of people, but in fact you play alone and no one gives a frick.
NTA, but free is better. I play on Retro-WoW. They have a fun custom deathmatch BG as well that takes place in Zul'Farrak. First team to 50 kills wins. It goes about as messy as you'd imagine but it's fun and I think I enjoy it more than WSG, AB, or AV which are actually kinda boring and de-emphasize PVP for objectives (why?)
>streetfight with no objective is better
> Also, BGs were never that fun. Why do you have to be like this? I was not rude to you. Crazy stuff man.
t. homosexual zoomer who never played vanilla
Funny enough you NEVER see these homosexual e-celebs and youtubers who claim to know everything vanilla ever mention these tabards, I wonder how much an account with one would be worth today? they didn't even give them out on classic its a piece of WoW history that's so buried it's insane.
>tfw i played all of classic to get CA on my ret paladin
>my guild full cleared naxx40 every week from week 1 until the launch of TBC and it literally never dropped
>it got so bad the GM straight up gave me the last MoM the guild ever saw because of it which caused the resto druid officer who got Atiesh to g-quit because his homosexual butt buddy wanted CA and he heard the GM say that i "Had to choose a weapon"
>also the druid was a girl(troony)
the druid should have gquit the moment your garbage guild decided to waste a raid spot on a worthless leech
lmao mad? i also got guilds first pair of gauntlets of annihilation on our first c'thun kill
the best part is i was never the bottom of the dps meters
let that sink in
>guild that wasted raid spots on specs that do warrior autoattack tier DPS also had a bunch of other worthless players
damn... shocking...
and yet we full cleared naxx40 week 1
how many did it take your shitter guild? into the double digits im sure lmao
>moronin and other worthless meme specs
>Cleared Naxx week 1
Doubt.
>Too poor to play wow growing up
>Surronded by friends that all play
>Classic release
>Fell for the "vanilla exploration experience" meme
>Sometimes spend 20 minutes trying to find the spot that fills out the empty space on the map because being right in the center is never good enough
>give in and install a map mod + questie
>experience greatly improves
>>>Fell for the "vanilla exploration experience" meme
the people that peddled that garbage all installed addons first thing.
>dude we're going home
>also if you dont install these addons youre doing ti wrong
>time to go spellcleave speedlevel in SM
>If you dont have all the worldbuffs and consumables for some shitty dungeon we're not taking you
>half the gear is disenchant fodder because some autist already calculated it gives 0.1% less DPS than this world drop green
>ahh, to be back in vanilla.
Problem is the community has changed and that's the one thing you can NEVER get back even if you gave yourself amnesia to start completely fresh. Basically, people know MMORPGs today. It's difficult to explain what a clusterfrick it was playing with random people back in the day.
Play on a private server. Plenty of ESLs to make Wailing Caverns and Deadmines that authentic clusterfrick experience.
Nah, those people are all doing whatever the latest content is because going back is sub-optimal. People like you basically.
Is Grobb still alive? I played for about a month there at release and the RP guilds were cool
I can't talk in channels and can't trade with players, but I don't want to do that, I want to fish and grind anglers rep.
>played wow growing up as a kid
>made friends online I still talk to today, and have known for longer than most of my RL friends.
DM, and RFD come to mind as some of my favorite.
cherish those memories as long as you are able to, going back if only for a little while will sour them forever
I'm not even that big on the warcraft aesthetics but it's really evident they were the result of genuine creative vision and passion. I think it's pretty obvious modern blizzard just make assembly line crap vaguely copying the old aesthetics.
It's literally tumblerina/deviantartist joins art college to learn unified calarts, then has their take on warcraft.
>RFD
>random giant headbang party with a skeleton boss and a bunch of fans
>fighting your first lich
kino. But SFK was more kino.
Does anyone have those old WoW wallpapers? The ones that showed very early concept art
>playing wow hardcore as ally druid
First time alliance it's all new to me. I hope my death is in a dungeon so people QQ
first time was actually shit for me, if you played launch the servers were FRICKED queues were insane and even if you got in you would fricking slide around on your knees stuck in the looting animation until the server crashed for the 50th time.
it was one of the VERY few periods of history that blizzard gave out free playtime I don't think they gay free time like that ever again for almost 10 years straight.
WoW was never good, I only played it because of peer pressure.
At least I got to experience it.
Ngl, i miss getting owned by hogger
I really hope you get help, find God and repent.
Aw look the NPC has feelings.
>find God
I pray to God everyday, NPC cattle. Do you?
People hate BElfs but damn their starting zone was amazing!
I did when I played turtles wow. I had to run to dungeons and collect flight paths.
>Been playing WoW on and off since the OG open beta
>Dropped it during BFA
>Got shadowlands for free and never once played it
>Got 7 days of free game time for Dragonlands
>Immediately use the 7 days of game time and play classic WotLK to frick around on my druid
I'll still probably use this free game time until the TotK releases.
>finally download the entire game
>make the first char i can
>human warrior
>get the hang of things
>get quest to go to goldshire
>its raining ingame
>its raining irl
>riders on the storm by the doors is playing
it was magical. i ended up having over 300 days /played from freshman year to senior of high school. I didn't idle much.
The joys of going behind that pillar on the right leading to the bank entrance so you initiate duels and just duel people inside the city
fresh when
I just listen to various soundtracks from the earlier zones on youtube whenever I feel the 'itch'.
Made me rethink playing this shitty game.
tseric was right
Blizzard killed wow when they decided on their expansion model.
The move from conventional capitals to that eyesore shattrath in particular stands out to me
>In the end, it wasn't Blizzard that killed WoW. It was the WoW community.
it was definitely blizzard
Dude, it's been 20 years, let it go
Why let it go when you can just download and play it?
>WoW community begs for nearly 2 decades for WoW classic
>Finally it launches
>PVPtards level exclusively in dungeons and raidlog
Vanilla WoW never had good gameplay, the soul came from questing and meeting people and people played it in the most soulless way imaginable.
Embarrasing.
(You)
People were always looking for the most efficient ways of leveling. People did quests because they gave good xp. No one was reading the quest texts, they just asked "Hey should I go to Tanaris? Is there a load quests for me to do? You think I can hit level 34 there?"
So... in a way. People haven't changed. If people knew back then what we know now, they would have played that way.
No, it wasnt. The amount of cringe homosexuals like you was much smaller.
Not me.
I had the full Classic experience and it changed my life for the better. Did everything soulfully
also the fact the people that played it still had souls themselves
my first time playing wow it was such insane sensory overload, just in terms of audio.. the music, the little sound effects when you open your bags, the chime when you find a new area, etc
>first time taking the gryphon from stormwind to ironforge
It was the other way around for me, I played a Dwarf Hunter. I thought those lava spiders were awesome, and wondered if I could tame one someday.
now I play almost exclusively horde on pservers
Doesn't matter to me. Every time I go back I love it just as much.
Thank God. Vanilla WoW is garbage, MoP Classic when?
Hopefully never.
I don't think anyone is nostalgic for MOP. That is pretty much when Blizzard's zoomer audience joined in on WoW and they are perfectly happy with all the homosexualry and pandering that goes on in modern day WoW.
heh. Pandering. Panda. heh.
Literally everyone acknowledges MoP as the best expansion. Only morons like tranilla.
Ok zoomtard.
Cata revamp >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> vanilla zones too btw. Cope, seethe, dilate, etc. etc.
I played since Vanilla but I did not hate Cata. I actually think Cata was a good expansion despite all its shortcomings. You're not trying hard enough, troll.
Who said I was trolling? I just know how to set off tranilla tards easily since they don't actually play the game and never reach level cap.
>I just know how to
Obviously not, sorry.
>Obviously not, sorry.
kek I'm really not angry. I'm just saying, you are a zoomtard for liking MOP. It's probably where you started WoW, like all the other zoomtards who currently play WoW.
Played them all. MoP was the best, simple as.
>Played them all.
Disgusting. Get a life.
Ok, you have mental illness.
>Vanilla zones are blatantly unfinished
>No zone beyond the starter zones has enough quests to get you to the next zone
>Have to grind mobs
Lol.
You don't have to grind at all in 1.12.
Yes you do.
Why are you so obsessed with transsexuals?
Why is Blizzard?
Then weren't in vanilla which you're talking about
Fix that broccoli hair you fuccboi
Good. It's time to stop living in the past anon.
WOW is my first love, i still think about her, but i know we've grown apart.
Nor will I be 14 again, anon. What's your point?
I'm fine with this because I moved on from WoW halfway through WotLK
Play other games. Stop being a stunted moron who continues clinging to the rotting corpse of a game over a decade past its sell-by date. The only people who defend this shit are clinically addicted spergs who just aren't aware that other games exist.
i will never experience any variation of wow, as I've never played it (and never will).
For once I agree with OP
Nothing will ever come close
God what a shitty timeline
>tfw no single player warcraft game like the witcher or skyrim or some shit
I dunno, it all looks like generic fantasy shit to me. I'm looking forward to an upcoming VR MMORPG called Ilysia
>those graphics
either incompetence or pandering to questgays, either way its shit
Classic wow didn't die after 2 weeks, it was actually quite successful
>Not playing it offline once a year
Fresh when?
never
it’ll never be given the attention it needs with the budget to match it so you’d barely get anything beyond season of mastery
At least we'll get fresh HC servers I imagine.
I still hope for classic+ even though I know they'd frick it up anyway.
>>
>I still hope for classic+ even though I know they'd frick it up anyway.
they will just make the same changes blizzard made back then and you end up with retail.
How can Globecucks ever recover?
supposedly there is a some classic announcement this saturday
It's probably for the best I didn't, but I sometimes regret not getting as into it as my friends. I have happy memories of exploring early WoW and making a few characters, but I never got any past level 35 or so. Good times nonetheless. Mostly just wandered around and enjoyed the world with my brothers.
That era came and went though, playing it now on a private server or something wouldn't be the same. It's the same with Phantasy Star Online. It's still awesome to play, but it's always a bit lonely compared to playing it back in the Dreamcast or Gamecube days.
You can play vanilla right now. Blizzard re-released it, ya dingus.
I know that, but it's still not the same as playing it when it was new. The world has changed around the game.
This min/maxing streamer infested shithole that is classic wow is not the same game I played when it first came out
People want the mid/late 00's zeitgeist along with the game, not just the game
prove it
I'm playing Wrath Classic again
>https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Captain_Theo_Ashford
Classic + needs to add more content to the lvl 30-60 range. Once you get to 30 it feels like the game falls off
>classic wow is filled with 1-10 and 10-20 content due to different racial start zones
>content merges from 20 forward
>2019 classic wow tourists give up once they reach the lvl30 slop because it’s boring and phase 2 just started
you’re right and yet blizzard will never fix this
FFXIgay here
i only really know fragments about WoW and how it plays but never actually played it.
ive always had WoW on my backlog.
what expansion or time period cutoff would you recommend for someone that really enjoyed lv75 ToAU-era FFXI?
is raiding easy on classic wow?
i'm aware the fights themselves are probably relatively simple, but like, is it easy to get invited to groups and stuff without a guild?
vast majority of classic raid bosses are tank-and-spanks with the occasional gimmick (do not stand in fire, do not stack for chain lightning etc)
I'm playing hardcore character on turtle wow. No AH, no trades and groups with people below or above 5 level of you, no mail, no lfg, no second life. I'm forced to use obscure items with charges, like bag of marbles. Pretty close to first experience.
you’re a troony!
Huh?
You play on troondle wow. You may as well start transitioning. Sorry about your dick bro.
Came from Dark Age of Camelot and Everquest
Vanilla WoW sucked shit, fight me
The only way that i would touch vanilla ever again, it's ONLY if we get another lock up. Im' not wasting my life again getting addicted to this shit
For nearly two decades I've been amendment about never playing it until it either becomes a one time purchase or goes free to play. Still haven't played it. At this rate I probably never will.
What about free private servers? It's not like you need a secret hand-shake to join them.
Slept in her bed - no hardon. She felt like what I imagine a realdoll feels like when I kissed her. Anyway after that I started sucking dicks
Sounds pretty gay af.
Yeah it turned out gay af at the end. Oh well, it can't be helped.
>I only ever played it to get in this baddy's panties
>baddy's panties
Please dont tell me people talk like that.
I am leveling in wotlk and it sucks balls, it is not comfy at all and feels like a threadmill, everything after vanilla was a mistake
>Played WoW on and off since 2006
>Didn't play Classic at launch cause "I already played that and it won't be the same, why bother"
>Finally decide to play Classic with my brother and some old WoW friends recently
>It's just as fun as it was 15 years ago
We've been having a great time.
>>you will never experience vanilla WoW for the first time again
That's fine anon, I had a magical time when I was younger that I get to remember and treasure. I don't need to experience it again.
ok? why even think about things that cannot happen
>had the itch to play again for a bit because I'm waiting for new games
>know I won't be able to get passed how lame and homosexual retail is now
>know there's a hard grind from scratch to be accepted into any content groups in wrath
>know I missed the boat of vanilla classic ages ago
>above all else, know I won't enjoy playing it solo
Fresh vanilla servers are coming soon. So keep an eye out for the announcement. Also, WoW vanilla servers are still populated.
>Fresh vanilla servers are coming soon.
People were saying that 6 months ago, I'm still waiting for the announcement
Apparently theres going to be an announcement on the 13th from a guest from Blizz attending some stupid HC event. Probably could be an announcement for HC servers and maybe new fresh alongside it.
I'll believe it when I see it. Knowing Blizzard it will be the bare minimum anyway, but fresh would be nice
>play ascension wow for the first time
>feel like im rediscovering and playing wow vanilla for the very first time
I can't wait for Classic BFA and Classic Shadowlands... I assume future expansions will make people on Ganker miss BFA and Shadowlands and call everyone else who hated them a "contrarian"... sovl
I hate WoW post-Activision in every official capacity, Classic included, and nothing will change my mind.
I'll always just play a Vanilla/TBC/WotLK private server whenever I get the itch.
People will praise the Sylvanas "Yas queen" moment with the wisp Arthas and call it geniune strong female character moment while shitting on whatever woke shit that current expansion will have.
> private servers exist
why are Millennials sub shoe size IQ moronic
>for the first time again
yeah, good question moron
I'm having a good time playing Wrath.
play turtle wow and hangout under a tent in goldshire
you can even erp with other dudes
I’m a level 57 human frost mage on whitemane era server, Silver Hand guild, Daveroz. Started my char back in March. Classic is sick and fun as frick, if you want to play it, you can and should.
Its funny how both ffxiv and retail wow are troon infestations but they still hate each others guts
it really has the oldtimer spirit of arguing over who is better while both lying in the hospital. Highlighted strongly by their kids arguing who is more oppressed and worse off.
I legit spent all my time mining and blacksmithing shit and never levelled properly. I might be moronic but I loved playing as a dwarf and just crafting shit and making ingots all day.
quit WoW in 2013 and played XIV
10 years later i'm missing the old Azeroth
neither game can provide me with what i want from an MMO
i didn't play Classic at all but if they ever do another fresh Vanilla start i'll probably give it a go
>>you will never experience vanilla WoW for the first time again
Literally one of the best, purest, most defining moments in my uneventful lonely 35 years on this planet.
wow was never good and always inferior to its contemporaries. the reason was a success is because it was accessible. you could play wow on the family dell. frankly wow ruined video games by inviting in a bunch of morons to pc gaymen. without wow there would be no reddit, without wow there would be no big bang theory. these are exactly the type of people that played and enjoyed wow
Aesthetically pleasing, vertical movement, mild complexity to the corridors, cool boss fights, and early enough so when you get there classes aren't pushed into their niches and everyone isn't an elitist prick, and every item that falls is someone's new best item.
>healer calls for a mana break in front of Taragaman
>tank starts goofing around and jumping back and forth while we wait
>jumps into the lava
>leaves the group and insta-logs out without a word
When LFG first came out me and my bro held a group hostage for like 2 hours by queuing as healer and tank and repeatedly pretending to fail the bfd jump, every time the whole group ended up disbanding we just found new members
I don’t care how shit blizztard make retail because I can just troll the third world era who play private servers, I have zero intention of ever raiding again, I don’t even care about getting max level, mmo players are just psychotic and it is fun to gank, troll and scam them
going through classic, tbc and now wrath for the first time was fun as frick but i kind of wish the players werent all 30+ parents
sovl
Made it to level 26
Then went back to maplestory
why do so many people pretend back in 2005 the game was filled with arms warrior dps raiders and arcane mages when in reality the meta always controlled the game?
In 2005 there was loot drama over mages taking a warlock's dreadmist hood and I got into molten core as a melee hunter.
you are clearly lying
Playing HC today feels very similar to playing vanilla back then
there is no real challenge in HC
>always played horde in vanilla
>start to play alliance in classic
>every time you enter stormwind get btfo by the stormwind theme
alliance is full of troonys
good.
trump lost
have you gotten any of the backrent he owes you for taking up all that space in your head
It was an experience for sure, but it took over my life to an extreme degree, and also kind of ruined my enjoyment of videogames in general. I find it incredibly hard to get into and enjoy most single player games now which kinda sucks.
All in all i kind of wish id never played WoW at all, even though I have good memories of it (as well as bad, i experienced about the same level of social rejection in wow as i did in real life at the end of the day, sadly enough)
wow was never good, let it go
Ruined my fricking life so good
