Perhaps she was falsely imprisoned. Perhaps it was some monster or creature of the night who kidnapped her. Maybe it was the narrator hoping to dupe you into killing her as some kind of arcane ritual. Who knows why she's been locked up?

Unless you immediately stab her to death without any hesitation, she kills you. You can get away with mutual destruction (she punches you to death as you stab her) or she gets the drop on you and kills you. In any case, it pushes you along to the new iteration of her, which varies on what you did before.
From the demo it seems like the "trick" is that she changes depending on what (You) think of her. The game has a Stanley Parable-tier narrator that's constantly telling you she's the worst thing in the world and it's up to you to decide. In routes where you treat her nicely she seems genuinely sweet while in routes where you go in thinking she's a powerful monster she changes to be just that. It's telling that in a route where you think she's evil from the get go, she overpowers you in a fight and kills you while in the route where you don't think ill of her until the last minute you're able to stab and kill her, almost as if your lack of evil toughts towards her made her weaker. It's probably that kind of catch 22

The game is based entirely around choices so I guess there's gonna be a choice where you rebel against the narrator and save her

I'd say there's like 2 hours worth of content you can play through to get all the endings for the first chapter.
