Uninstall wizard.
underrated comment
My party had a Beguiler Cipher/Bleak Walker Paladin (Inquisitor), a Devoted Halberd Fighter/Bleak Walker Paladin (Crusader), a Ghost Heart Range/Blood Mage Wizard (Geomancer), and two monos. Of these three the two paladins played very well, while the ranger didn't synergize as well as I was hoping. At least I didn't often find use for the blood mage subclass gimmick and played him more like a mono ranger who occasionally casts.
Nice so the bleak walker paladin is a nice pairing for a combat class? Any recs for magic classes?
Multiclassing casters is generally a bad idea except for chanters, and that's only if you only use them for chanting and dropping the occasional stun.
Literally almost everyone who did the ultimate challenge race was a caster multiclass

I made a Goldpact Paladin/Street Fighter who would teleport around the map spamming duel hand mortars.
Its amazing how much better PoE plays with multiclassing. The best part is imagining Sawyers autistic screeching while you break the game.
>The best part is imagining Sawyers autistic screeching while you break the game.
That wasn't really the intention behind the balancing, it was more so to make as many combinations of class and stat spreads viable, so that you could play for example a fighter based around intelligence or a muscle wizard.
>the best part is imagining Sawyers autistic screeching while you break the game.
That's exactly what he wanted when they included multiclassing, though.
Nothing
They are all too sterile in attempt to be balanced to stand out from each other in a meaningful way.
You could *almost* get away with dumping your main stat on highesr difficulty. That's how meaningful your build choices are.
Soiyer acted so high and mighty and above cRPGs as a whole, it's so funny that the blandest most mediocre one in the industry is his very own. Kek.
And then he blamed infinity engine influence for the way POE flopped
It had nothing what so ever to do with wordvomit writing and a bland soulless setting
>It had nothing what so ever to do with wordvomit writing and a bland soulless setting
Exactly, it was ie engine all along.
Top kekerino
Sawyer is such a hack
Savage, but true.
>They are all too sterile in attempt to be balanced to stand out from each
Fuck off you didn't play the game
>You could *almost* get away with dumping your main stat on highest difficulty.
So... you couldn't? What the fuck was the point of posting that?
To illustrate a point. Dumping your main stat in pathfinder would not let you beat the first encounter in the fucking tutotial, for example. Build choices are meaningless in a sterile game like POE.
Funnily enough I likely have more hours of gameplay on POE games than you. I hate Soiyer for them, but the games themselves aren't shit. They are just so mediocre it hurts. There wasn't much else to play at the time.
>Dumping your main stat in pathfinder would not let you beat the first encounter in the fucking tutorial, for example.
On Core? Absolutely it would, probably even on Hard. Unless you mean a meme example like a wizard too dumb to cast spells, in which case you've intentionally made a character who is dead weight. If you specifically mean on the hardest difficulty that's just a bad example because of Pathfinder's poor implementation of difficulty scaling.
I am talking unfair vs path of the damned
There is a lot of build choice in pathfinder
What are you even talking about you dumb schizo
>What are you even talking about you dumb schizo
I am cursed to have to respond to illiterate individuals like you.
I will try to explain in a way someone as profoudly stupid as you can understand: Stating that dumping attributes (or not dumping them) is an example of build choice in Pathfinder when this is literally the worst example that can be pointed at. There is no element of 'build choice' there - where in PoE you basically can do whatever (which is ultimately somewhat meaningless) attribute wise, in Pathfinder you have exactly one option, which is to pump your classes main stat on creation and at each level up. This is equally meaningless.
I then stated that you should use a less stupid example for your comparison between the two systems like feats (where there is genuine build creativity and variety enabled by it, with no analogue in POE), which you promptly ignored.
Is that simple enough for you?
>Stating that dumping attributes (or not dumping them) is an example of build choice
Hahahaha dude...
I didnt read past this paragraph. You completely misunderstood EVERYTHING i said. Everything. And yeah, completely. It's funny that you call ME illiterate. Haahah jesus fucking christ this board really makes me lose fate in humanity
>I am talking unfair vs path of the damned
So you're a retard who thinks that a difficulty literally named 'unfair' is a good design example? Well, thanks for being clear about it at least.
Are you capable of reading comprehension? Why are you putting words into my mouth, when did I say it was good.
You need to acquire reading comprehension before trying to argue with people way more intelligent (me) and knowledgable on a subject than you (also me)
I only mentioned pathfinder as a contrast to POE. I knew it would attract schizos. And i did it anyway. It was my mistake.
>Why are you putting words into my mouth, when did I say it was good.
So you knew it was a bad example and chose to use it anyway? Truly a staggering intellect you have there, anon.
>It was my mistake.
Good. Now that we agree, I invite you to reflect on this before posting in the future.
I used it to illustrate a constrast between the two games.
Yes, a pointless one, because you used a bad example.
As demonstrated above, no, he is not capable of reading comprehension.
>pathfinder
>build choice
Wow, pumping the main stat for my class for 40 hours really gives me choices!
If you're going to make disinginuous comparisons at least do something like mentioning feat choices you gay.
>Funnily enough I likely have more hours of gameplay on POE games than you.
perhaps, I'm not a neet
your take is still <100 IQ
you know it, i know it, every anon on this board knows it, no matter if he's farming yous with bait or not
Quick question anon, why do you pathfinder autists love derailing every non pathfinder thread on this board? OP asked for PoE build advice, not your anti Sawyer monologue. You people make pathfinder threads every day, can you not go back to them?
Check the thread again. The first people who derailed it were
and
After that, each side of discussion started spegring out in turns.
>the one derailing the thread wasn't the person making a retarded comparison, but instead the posters calling him out for being retarded
Hmm...
Dawg, you made a whole post about how much you hate Sawyer and the PoE system on a thread asking for build advice. Don't be disingenuous.
was my first post in this thread. I wanted to recommend a controller ranger, but OP made a Deadfire thread with PoE1 OP pic.
Yes, making multiple non-PoE posts in PoE thread is exactly derailing. Nobody wanted them to start talking about Pathfinder instead of simply calling anon a retarded sperg.
I really regret mentioning pathfinder. Being on this board for as long as I have been here, I should know better than to summon those fucking schizos.
Even mentioning that game for the sake of a random argument (i.e. how shit poe balancing is) will get them fuming about Pathfinder.
I will however show some empathy becaucse only god knows how hard they must've been filtered.
Silent spectators approve, anon. Shizos are cancer.
>>I will however show some empathy becaucse only god knows how hard they must've been filtered.
>Knows mentioning Pathfinder will inevitably derail a whole thread, still does it anyway.
Not sure if I should be mad or laugh instead. Kinda funny either way.
>I really regret not an heroing yesterday. My life is empty and being on this board for countless hours is my only fun, shitposting and fishing for (you)s as a fucking schizo I am is the only human interaction I get for entire weeks
>Even mentioning that game for the sake of a bait will let everyone see that I shitpost non-stop because I've not received any joy in gaming for years now.
>I will continue to shitpost and bait for (you)s becaucse only god knows how miserable I'm

What do you have against spaces in between paragraphs, exactly? Did your hivemind on Ganker tell you that that's how redditors type? Is the big bad reddit under your bed perhaps? The big bad space in between paragraphs?
>these 4 sentences about the same topic should form 3 different paragraphs
we knew you were retarded but jesus christ
Ganker, the only place in the world where people will call you retarded for putting spaces in between paragraphs
Gotta love it
anon... I...
... I can't do it, guys
this person is clearly mentally underdeveloped
I can't laugh at his expense
you are not being called retarded because you space out paragraphs. you are being called retarded because you are breaking 4 sentences all related to one another and to a single topic into 3 "paragraphs"
please let your mother know I'm sending my deepest condolence and that she needs to stay strong
I really like deadfires fighter/wizard, even just Aloth can be an insane offtank. You stack fighter defense abilities with wizard defensive spells and tactical barrage with wizard alacrity while getting citzals spirit lance summoned weapon and then you extend all of it with wall of draining Because every hit with the lance creates a separate AOE you can easily do 1k+ damage in one clear-out against a group of 4-5 enemies.
Likewise. I really enjoyed playing a melee wizard in the first game so getting proper multiclass support in the second was great.
>want to replay deadfire, I've only played it once and I never beat the arena DLC
>can't stand the idea of replaying it because the game stutters every 4 seconds due to a literal 5 year old unfixed memory leak
>the game even stutters when you click on characters in your party
I can't do it.
Also, I don't want to turn this thread into ANOTHER schizo pathfinder thread so I wont be continuing this discussion. A mere mention of that game is like a summoning chant for filtered schizoscrubs, tes players and such
My point was, POE is the most boring sterile RPG in the industry probably in terms of everything except the good stuff they took from IE games. (Funnily enough, what Soiyer blames for his failure)
If you wanna play that, its your choice its a free country.
I played it too. But lets not pretend that it has a good build system lol.
Fighter(tactician)/Wizard(bloodmage) is absolutely fucking hilarious and breaks the game sideways with how easy it is to achieve flanking, you get essentially infinite resources in what supposed to be resource management game
reminder that there was a special reward for the first one to beat PoE2 ultimate challenge with no bloodmage or priest of skaen build
Fagfinder and Cuckold of Eternity are both trash.
>fagfinder
>cuckold of eternity
Here's a (you) for making me kek
>t. larianfag
does it have a turn based mod? I ain't playing this shit if it's a rtwp
The second game has a turn based mode, idk if the first game has a mod for it
what's the premise of the story? I want to play the game, but I want to make a character that would make sense
Basically, a tragedy has happened that causes newborn children to be born without souls. Souls in PoE are part of a cycle of reincarnation called the Wheel. You play as an awakened(remembers old life) watcher who is able to communicate with souls and the dead basically.
If i could reset my class in poe1 i would change from my ranger to paladin.
Paladin has a cool idea that orders has favored behavior, so it make sense to roleplay. If i knew this about pals i would pick a bleak walker, but now i am already at the start of act 3 with a ranger and i really dont want to play anymore.
Maybe i should just try to play paladin, but i already started witcher 1.
>all classes basically use the same stat build except for that one bad sat (that has the most flavor dialogue locked behind it)
Why doesn't balance man just remove the stupid stat distribution then?
>all classes basically use the same stat build
This is wrong. You can also build several of the classes using fairly different stat spreads.
I've played the game a few years ago but never the dlcs. Is there a mod that lets me jump into dlc content immediately instead of having it gated behind main quest prgression?
Psion Cipher/Troubador Chanter - Bboth regenerate their resources passively so don't have the action economy issues other caster multiclasses do. Start combat with an invocation, and by the time you've recovered you have enough focus to cast one or two cipher spells, by which time you'll have gained enough phrases to cast an invocation ect. After a few levels you'll regenerate resources quickly enough to cast nonstop without wasting anything. And you'll have an absurd amount spellcasting flexibility between those two classes; nukes, heals, debuffs, buffs, summons, mind control ect.
whats the best class to solo the hardest difficulty
For the first game or the second?
Chanter for either game is probably the most hassle-free, though you could do it as any class by using consumables, traps etc.
Barbarian/Fighter. Mob stance procs an AoE full attack every time you kill an enemy, every target hit by it procs Carnage from Barbarian. If Carnage kills something, it procs another Mob Stance attack. Subclass Berserker and Devoted, specialize in Longswords, and get Modwyr. Modwyr makes you immune to intellect afflictions, which means the biffed up Berserker Enrage no longer causes you to be Confused.
Actually basically everything.
Your primary damaging ability is Penetrating strike from the foghter tree, while you focus on usong the Barb tree tp get all the great buffs like Spirit Tornado and that one passive that lets your melee attacks roll against the lowest of Fortitude or Deflection.
Also stack items that cause you to heal every 6 seconds. When and item says it heals you for 3 hp ecery 6 seconds it sounds shit right? But it's not in practice, and every one of that items stacks with all the others, so if you get as many as possible it ends up being closer to 70 hp every 6 seconds, which is enough to make you tanky as fuck.
that's fucking pretty good
Swashbuckler (Fighter/Rogue), playing an assassin-type fighter who can teleport to the enemy casters and fuck them up with a two-handed weapon or a duellist who can stand on the line with a pistol and one-hander is great fun. Also Brute is really enjoyable, and only slightly less optimal if you choose to use a two-hander.
i remember chiper/bard being pretty fun to play.
>chanter joins party
>eventually gets ogre summons
>autowin every fight, including the very last fight just because of how disgustingly broken they are
lowkey ruined the game for me, whenever I do my next playthrough im not touching summoning at all
Well it kinda be like that
But strong summos are the selling point of chanters innit now?
Also i think i never went for dragon summoning because ogres just do the thing
There's strong and then there's Ogres. My whole team was wiped in the last fight except my chanter who had like 15 hp. He just kept spam summoning Ogres until it was won.
>tanky enough to last until you have enough to summon another pair
>insane damage, easily can burst targets down
>large, so they can completely bodyblock paths
Tbh it was fun being able to win fights while being underlevelled but god damn I don't know what the designers were smoking when creating Ogres
are you talking about PoE 1 or 2?
tobehonest I don't think ogres can solo really challenging fights which are always optional in PoE
>master below shreds through ogres in seconds
>WM fights paralyze the shit out of ogres
sorry i meant Poe2. Ive never used them in poe1
Honestly same deal
Ogres felt adequate in both BoW and FS, all bosses fights etc
The final main quest fight isn't that hard compared to the optional content
(I play veteran + scaling up for all content)
How do you use your chanters?
Just stun and damage. Even on potd. Game is too easy and horribly balanced. The only enemies I couldn't defeat are super bosses and white dragon in 1.
However potd is shite as well, as too many enemies and too bloated NOPEN stats.
Yeah stun is good and comes early
Never liked the damage invocations though
Bc they are straight garbage.
However theres elemental damage + X, which is fine. Poe has wayyy to many status effects.
Poe1 has less design flaws than 2, but comes with dated models aso. System and setting was way better in 1.
Idk what they were thinking with their stupid wall of texts...
Shame, truly.
Never used summons in either of the two games.
Played as a wizard, first time I've ever played as a wizard in a crpg and I felt OP.
Am I the only one that liked POE1 more than 2? Despite how wordy it got and the backer NPCs, I felt way more drawn into the first games dreary story and atmosphere, it also had some great companions. Deadfire really only has more polished combat and dual classes, everything else is a huge let down, and I was excited to play it but it just didn't hold my interest. Deadfire companions are fucking terrible, and they RUINED Eder.
I really enjoyed the faction and side quests. I also think BoW is one of my favorite dlcs ever. I even enjoyed the main story and how it is intertwined with the side stories (the main quest line is meh tho), but i agree companions are much less likable to poe1s generally speaking
PS
I only really hate xoti's voice acting though, everything else is at least serviceble
Dlcs where top. I like also sss, but bos is better, no question.
Xotis VA sounded like she was trying too hard to sound southern, very fake.
At least half those Critical Role people are hacks, the only passable performances are Maia, due to simply speaking like a normal person and Eothas due to the cool voice effect.
Yeah, white americucks alimentation between themselves.
>delete all voice files save for combat barks
>pick turn-based combat
>roll a full party and ignore companions
>skip through all dialog
7/10 dungeon crawler, I had a pretty good time. Would play again. But yeah I can't play it as intended, unlike the first PoE.
I play it like that, except turn based. Only heard bad things about turn based.
Did that in my first playthrough. Must say my current one I only have multiclass and party is way stronger. Classes. Like chanter, rogue paladin are classic multiclass choices.
The only inherent problem with TB mode is that it rewards slow but powerful weapons and pretty much invalidates weak but fast ones, because no one gets more than a single attack per turn. Things like teleport rogue skills are still extremely good though. Keeping this in mind it is otherwise a very fun system. And since Deadfire doesn't have anywhere near the amount of combat encounters as PoE the slower speed is a non-issue.
Wait no, actually there is one more inherent issue. Because of the way turns work fighting anything with high Concentration sucks dick. Mercifully though this becomes a legit problem only in a couple of encounters, like for example when fighting the Magma Dragon.
Cpncelhaut in potd easier or more difficult?
Lvl 14 and can't beat him.
Tb that is
>Did that in my first playthrough. Must say my current one I only have multiclass and party is way stronger. Classes. Like chanter, rogue paladin are classic multiclass choices.
The only classes that really don't benefit from it are monks, wizards and maybe druid.
Paladin, chanter all the way, maybe even psion.
Chanter is probably best multied with Paladin or Barb, same combinations apply to Paladin which also multis well with rogues and fighters. Cipher is another class that is probably best kept pure, good point.
Only played psion. Idk the last two power levels aren't that convincing for cipher. Psion for ape debuffing is good.
Yeah, Deadfires pacing is just too bad
for ultimate teamplay you want 2x Paladin for both auras and then 1 Troubadour summoner with damage absorb speed chant, 1 Bellower caster with lifeleech chant. You can cover all 4 with two character duals. Then fill party with whatever
In my opinion, the only reason why the character generation in PoE is overwhelming is because the mechanics are obtuse and autismal and the UI is unintuitive, making you hover over everything and wait for text boxes to pop up just so you know what shit does.
playing a fighter and paladin was good on hardest difficulty. you could not die.
Paladins are tanky, barbarians too.
Cipher/Paladin (Bleak Walker)
A lot of initial damage with guns + Paladin buffs, than crowd control spells.
I have notice a pattern in RPGs
If wizard is the most OP class, the game is good, because it follows the natural law.
Deadfire is a good game, so just pick wizard (bloodmage)
Alternatively if you wanna melee pick monk
Multi classing is for suckers always
