it takes no proving and zero mental gymnastics and I say this as a person who had anxiety their whole life

it's the most simple rational way you can think about things to decide that people must just be being "hysterical" or "overemotional for no reason" if you're a straightfoward normal thinking person who isn't upset by regular situations or ideas

are you fricking moronic? I hate when people do this illogical shit where they try to group all denying claims as equal to discredit another claim without actual proper scrutiny.

DID is hotly debated. Something isn't a mental illness defined by your moronic subjective "experience" or else the entire study of Psychology would fall apart completely. Its defined by a consistent and backed criteria and standard. Of course mentally ill morons would be moronic. I thought better of you morons, but maybe that was just me projecting my own experience and self awareness onto morons.

Saying anxiety isn't real is moronic. It is a real feeling. Mental illness is just imprints on your psyche from your environment, you experiences, your childhood. It's basically all CPTS (Complex Post Traumatic Stress). It does no good to just say it isn't real and dismiss people outright. You have low emotional intelligence. You're not exactly wrong, but shut the frick up because you're emotionally moronic.

Being born into a chaotic environment is a common cause of mental illness. You learn to adapt to this completely new environment and now you're wired for that. Like a war veteran who comes home. Or a car accident survivor or rape victim. Environment seems to be the main factor.

yeah, and the DSM used to put being gay as a mental illness, bro psychologists barely know shit, this isnt an objective science. The fact of the matter is that DID is still hotly debated in the literature and it's not remotely necessarily agreed upon yet. Don't know how the morons fricked this up with the DSM. But then again they're the same morons that thought being gay was a mental illness so I'm not gunna take their shit at face value. Employ some critical thinking morons. Have you NOT heard of any of the contentions regarding DID? Or do you guys just eat up whatever shit makes you feel good like mindless morons?

Alcohol is a depressant. You may find beer or liquor gross, you may not like having to ingest it in social situations, but as the previous anon indicated, it is necessary for a large swath of the population. Acting like it's some impasse shows arrogance on your part. You aren't required to drink, but you certainly shouldn't be a massive b***h about it if others are drinking too.

I'm not that anon, but damn.. same here anon. I had it real fricking bad back in 2007-2010 but then it got better, to the point where I almost could forget about it. I'd still get like one thing each year where I thought I was dying but after that it just left me and I could move on.

Past year has been BRUTAL. It's constant, I've been to the doctor's like 10 times this year alone and it feels pathetic. I'm forcing myself not to go right now even though I want to. What made it come back for me was unironically improving my life, I got less depressed and things got better and for some reason that made me think of death constantly.

I gotta ask because I feel like if I asked this in any other thread I wouldn’t be able to get a straight answer.
What do people see in Arthur Morgan that I don’t? Don’t get me wrong, I like him too, he’s a cool guy, his story is that great mix of exciting and tragic and inspiring, but what exactly puts him into such elevated status where multiple people call him the greatest video game character of all time from a writing standpoint? Just the fact that he’s both rugged and non-toxic (depending on playstyle of course but)?

        Anonymous

nta, I like him because I as a player spent a lot of the time with the guy, he is tough and sometimes cold-blooded on the outside but tragic and kind inside.
I personally put RDR2 as one of the most immersive and the best slow-burn games that doesn't shit the bed in the end. Since you are going to spend more than average playtimes on the game, the characters naturally have more of an opportunity to connect with you, and I think that's why people call Arthur the greatest character.

I don't know if I would put Arthur as the best video game character I've experienced, but I definitely felt the most connection, I "cared" the most about most if not all of the characters in RDR2.

        Anonymous

He's smart in his own non-educated way. He isnt just a thug like Bill Williamson. He's just a classic rugged cowboy like John Wayne with a fair amount of nuance and a believable redemption. I'd go as far as to say he sees himself in John and the oppurtunity he has with Abigail; Arthur had something similar and he threw it. Also the bar for video game writing is really quite low. Too many game devs play too games and should just be reading more.

is this the thread? where we can all huddle around and secretly console eachother while talking about how our related vidya is special to us because we're all fricked up and it's technically on topic?

I don't need somebody to tell me it'll all be okay, I just need somebody to tell me they understand how cursed and unfortunate my circumstance is

Yep. Life sucks, your life probably sucks, I and none of us can change that but assuming you aren’t bullshitting then you can at least know that someone sees you. I’m sorry. I have no idea who you are but I understand you.

I don't like pity party shit but it really blows my mind how some people are just... happy. And don't give me that bullshit about "everyone has problems", I know what it's like to be happy, I had a charmed life & mental illness just totally ruined it. It's so crazy man. We don't even need an afterlife to exist because both hell and heaven exist on our own planet, they're just different states of mind. Some people essentially live in hell

Mental illness isn't real. You might have been born with mental moronation, you might have some paraphernalia that makes you act moronic or you might just be plain moronic. Besides chronic schizophrenia (which shares traits with low-functioning autism, itself the PC term for being a 'tard) there is no such thing as being 'ill' in the head. You're just a b***h.

Neurodivergence is the biggest meme terminally online types have ever tried to push. We have gaslit a society of normal people into thinking something is wrong with them because they aren't social butterflies, or jerk off to weird things.

      Anonymous

Nah you're just moronic. Just because psychiatry has gotten memed up hard the past 10 years doesn't mean the brain doesn't get fricked up in many ways.

Think of it this way, the rest of our body gets sick, the brain is the most complicated fricking organ we have, it is in fact so complicated that scientists don't even really understand it. You're telling me that this insanely complicated thing can't get shit wrong and you just end up broken in thousands of different ways?

        Anonymous

Scientists don't understand these illnesses because their patients leave out pretty fricking important details, like fapping 3x a day or never getting any sunlight.
My favorite is "chronic fatigue" which is what coomers end up with because they jerk off so much they lose all energy.
Everything else, social anxiety, disassociation, even hypochondria, it's all a result of lifestyle and everyone who claims to have them is suspect.

I'm not 'blaming' anyone btw, I hate that mental illness has become such a huge thing that those with real, debilitating problems get ignored because some troony needs more fun pills.

          Anonymous

It's more than lifestyle. Why do you think people from divorced homes tend to have problems. If you grow up with abusive parents even if it's not physical, you tend to have problems. Early childhood matters a lot.

Nah, people with shit like BPD are genuinely fricked in the head. The real lie is that they can 'improve' when their brains are physically incapable of empathy.
Progressive ideologies cannot change the fact that they are dangerous animals.

        Anonymous

People with those kinds of illnesses can improve, they just need to learn how to spread God's goodness.
I am one of them. I have PTSD with comorbid NPD/BPD. I do not have empathy and I am extremely self centered. However I also believe in God 100%, and I cannot possibly ever hope to be as great as Father is, so I serve him and do what I know is right, even when I would rather just do whatever benefits me the most.
I do not need to like you, feel empathy for you, or think of you on the same level as I am, but I will treat you with the respect Father wants me to give you, and I will do it with sincerity.

By the way, I was reading websites for autists by autists, and I think their reluctance to accept autism as a mental illness is more of a hindrance to their cause than a benefit.

I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of the parents of a low-functioning sperg: it's bad if you help them and it's bad if you don't, and you are stuck with a kid that makes you miserable every waking day.

Autism is a blanket term for wide number of symptoms, which can be anything from social ineptitude to being a literal mute moron that shit themselves and has to wear a bike helmet. It's so moronic that the term might as well not exist.
Aspergers is usually caused by dysfunction of cerebellum, but even mentioning those studies leads to homosexuals throwing the word 'Nazi' around because authentic biology is hate speech.

When I was younger I didn't have the ability to grasp how people would feel, and even when I did it was a bigger leap in logic to figure out why it fricking matters to me. I would purposefully provoke fistfights in a way that would make me look innocent so that I could get people I didn't like suspended while being able to get a shot or two in on them, but that's pretty much the worst I did. I don't feel any compulsions to do really heinous shit because real life isn't a movie, but most of life is just a really big game of suppressing my gut reactions.

No, you need to get it in your skull that you aren't likely mentally ill. Mental illness increases as pop psychology is shared throughout society. Split personality disorder happened very rarely until it was put in movies and books which made the adoption of it proliferate. Most of the people that are depressed aren't actually depressed, most people with anxiety don't have anxiety. You need gain general intelligence and stop being such an empathetic person, you need to exercise actual sympathy and care about people instead of excusing destructive behavior.

I don't blame people for this, I think society has failed to teach people how to handle their feelings and elects to diagnose and sell them life-long treatments instead. Not to mention our absolute refusal to take responsibility for the condition that our personal lives and therefor society in general have degraded to. Those weird experiments they did on the rats reflect this eerily.

I said myself it isn't really mental illness, it's just learned behavior. If you grow up in an abusive home, your world as a kid is that abusive home. You learn to live in that world. When you're no longer in it, you still react as though you are in an abusive home. It doesn't excuse anything, but that's where it comes from. That's why people have problems. It's learned behaviors and triggers that you learn to react to, but are no longer in "danger".

A little bit. I don't have it so bad that I think everyone is going to treat me like a god by default. Where it impacts me the most it the criticism thing, because I tend to think that they're criticizing something they don't really understand and are basing their views on movie/television stereotypes (I tend to view most people as a type of cattle that are incapable of thinking outside of movie/tv tropes)

But there are times where the criticism is totally valid and I realize it later, but was too bent on viewing the person who gave it as cattle. If that makes sense.

Just watch your blood pressure, people always talk about diabetes and liver cirrhosis when it comes to alcohol but hypertension kills more alcoholics than anything besides drunk driving.
Also you should know that alcohol withdrawal is very severe but extremely short compared to other drugs, if you choose to quit you'll feel good as new in less than a month or two.
Just consult your doctor about quitting if you decide to because that amount of alcohol intake may require weening but I'm not sure.

It absolutely does require medical supervision. Alcohol is considered one of, if not THE most dangerous substances to quit.

Everyone knows it's dangerous, but most people don't know HOW dangerous it really is. Look up "the DTs." They should really put that on the bottle.

Yeah I understand. I don't have it as bad as you but I'm used to drinking 4-5 beers a night for the past couple years (typically Sierria Nevada or something stronger)

I tried to quit recently and started getting itchy when I went to bed. I was like "there's no way my problem is this bad!" but here we are.

            Anonymous

I drank daily for about a year straight and it's remarkable the kind of mentality you unconsciously build around it. You genuinely can't see how bad it is and the fact you're intoxicated most of the time makes you not give a frick how much you're ruining your life.
Nothing comes without a price, both positively and negatively. It's never too late to improve.

inconsistent level design and an annoying RNG mechanic in the nightmare system. It's ok, not as bad as most people make it out to be. Zero's new moveset is pretty fun. Inafune had already moved on to the zero series, those were generally better accepted but suffered from a myopic camera.

7 is far worse, I would avoid playing it.

Depression. My favorite game is Metal Gear Solid 2.
I don’t take any medication for my depression and just cope with it through sheer force of will. I do well enough most of the time but admittedly spent most of this weekend in bed.
I was diagnosed with social anxiety a few years ago and took medication for it for a while, but I don’t suffer from it at all anymore. I’m pretty sure any anxiety I was experiencing at that time was just from dating and living with a woman who has BPD.

I just want to cry inside. Stuck with a part-time job on my last contract, and my parents are pressuring me into going into graduate school for a Masters degree. But selfish desires, anxiety, and peer pressure is holding me back from applying to an actual job that will make me 70k/year. I'm scared of moving out because rent is too expensive these days and I'm scared of living off paychecks. I feel like I'm fulfilling a destructive prophecy by not reaching my full potential and being productive.
No real-life friends, just a handful of close friends on discord of which half live an ocean away. Yet every time I go out to work, I act like a sage and give out genuinely good advice when I myself never follow it. Like I have two personalities within me after almost losing my mother to a ruptured aneurysm when I was 17. I question whether I truly can identify myself every day, either as a gifted STEM student or a pathetic, selfish homosexual who's too driven by their desires for pleasure.
Maybe that's why my favorite games belong to the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

I have some kind of apathy syndrome. I simply don’t care about anything that isn’t fun or engaging. I don’t understand depression. I don’t understand anxiety. Why are you taking life so seriously? Literally nothing matters. You’ll spend 50% of your life at work. That’s all there is to life. Why worry or feel sad when you can’t change anything? Life is shit. Get over it. Get to work or you’ll be homeless.
