Yes because everyone cares oh-so-much about some random anon's adulation.
That just really depends on whether you're a grownup fan or a child fan. A child fan is waving flags and banners everywhere and ignores any and all fact-based criticism and evidence. An adult fan admits to the shortcomings and is able to see whatever they're fans of as an imperfect product of imperfect people, and are able to change their minds if given enough reason to.
Case in point, I'm a massive Dark Souls 3 fan among many many other games. But its map design, spells, trans looking females, buggy netcode, twink trash mechanics, general weapon imbalance issues, insane PvP balance problems like parry/riposte and many other things left a lot to be desired.
But back to the OP, FFVI was good back in the day. Haven't given it another try in probably 25 years. Having a female protagonist was pretty unique back then and I liked the character design. But Kefka was a joke - no pun intended - of an antagonist, game got too repetitive and grindy, and generally speaking it was overshadowed by Chrono Trigger in almost every way in that generation of games. And later thoroughly beaten by FFVII which to date is the best single player Final Fantasy game ever made.
Well the difference is that ALTTP was the definition of Zelda experience, along with OOT and TP to name a few others. BoTW and TotK have more in common with Bethesda than Zelda, so they tend to have completely different groups of fans.
Reminder that the only Pixel Remaster versions that are acceptable are III and V and the others have downgrades in a lot of areas, including glitches that don't exist in any other version, overly bright hue that changes the atmosphere of games like IV and VI and weird spritework
PSP, PSP, PR, PSP, SNES/Steam/PR, SNES w or w/o translation patch

This was my first, I played it after I got a raspberry pi for Christmas from my wife. I had been wanting to try it for a while, and it makes me very sad I missed it as a kid.
It is an absolute masterpiece in every way.
Played it at age 20 or so for the first time and had an absolute ball. My gf did the same at the same age. We both love the game a lot. We enjoy all the ff6 goodies in XIV a lot too.
Sephiroth's final form in 7 was just a rehash of Kefka's final form. Even took a number of the attacks. They just wanted to try it again with 3d.
They should've fully embraced the Jenova alien eldritch horror monstrosity thing and made Sephiroth look truly alien.
Now we got all these "angel" shit in the Compilation stuff when it is thematically so damned different than the rest of the Jenova stuff.

Just a reminder that liking things is completely fine, but being a "fan" of anything is for homosexuals.

it’s like being a Zelda fan and not playing ALTTP
Well the difference is that ALTTP was the definition of Zelda experience, along with OOT and TP to name a few others. BoTW and TotK have more in common with Bethesda than Zelda, so they tend to have completely different groups of fans.
ALTTP is upper-mid.
Being a fan of something means you like it. I don't know what your definition is.
It's my favorite FF, including the World of Ruin.
Same. I love the world of ruin and don't understand the hate
It's my favorite one, with IX and V as close seconds. IV is great, too. PSP and 3D PC versions are the best versions of IV
I was promised pilotable giant robots, and the game pulled a bait and switch on me.
8/10 art project
5/10 rpg
I've always hated how many characters it had and how espers affected level up gains.
I like 6 but my favorite is 8

Objectively this is the best FF game, if not one of the best JRPG's ever made,
Personally I liked FF8 the best, but 6 is a close 2nd,
played the pixel remaster recently (replay)
pretty fricking mid

It is an absolute masterpiece in every way.
>Every redditor's favorite ff
It's enjoyable but overrated. FF4, FF5, and FF7 are all better.
I can see 5 or 7 but 4 is absolutely not better than 6. 6 does everything 4 does but better.
The fact that you jumped in 7 just proves you’re baiting.
Played it at age 20 or so for the first time and had an absolute ball. My gf did the same at the same age. We both love the game a lot. We enjoy all the ff6 goodies in XIV a lot too.
I played and liked nearly every FF game until X but 6 bores me to tears every time I try to play it.
Celes is the real MC, should've been in dissidia/game mascot instead Terra a shit.
