>Now you're making it big in the big city
>Now you're saving the region from an orc invasion
>Now you're the lord commander fighting a lich and his army of undead from your castle
>Now you're fighting the BBEG (not really evil guy)
>You vanquish it, oh no, rocks fall on everyone and you all die
this is your reminder that NWN2 is hated on this board because it represents the most generic DnD campaign ever conceived from beginning to end.

It's hated because it's tedious, poorly paced, and intentionally written to be a bad DM's campaign on top of that.
they hated the game because it told the truth
It's too easy and it released in the era where 3D was still pretty weird looking.
>>Now you're the lord commander fighting a lich and his army of undead from your castle
Which campaign is this
Since it sounds based
Youre not making these up, are u
>in my mind it was real
um achually that is a Shadow Reaver not a lich
its the plot of Soulbringer
so I'm not the only person on earth to have played that game huh
I never see it brought up ever but I thought it was fun back then
its not an amazing game but years after release it doesn't need to be
it did kill its studio though
I really don't think you're gunna force nwn shit here. All these threads do is attract a handful of schizos that all get upset with each other and rampage through the board shitting it up for weeks so please just spare us this and shut it down now
It's fine, has a lot of cool parts and is better than any of the NWN campaigns other than HotU, though obviously inferior to both MotB and SoZ.
>shit multiplayer (the only good thing about NWN)
Gee I wonder why people didn't like it.
I hate it because it gave me a blonde tomboy farmer wife and then Sawyer killed her
I hate NWN2 because its another D&D shovelware title
I hated it since it wasn't NWN:
>spell effects no longer made sense as NWN's did. They just were lazy and randomly selected spell effects and crappy icons for everything.
>engine did not do the hit per animation thing of NWN, vastly, vastly inferior if you actually knew how to build NWN characters
>ugly and generic all around
Obsidian sucks. SUCKS. They will never, EVER redeem themselves. It's the closest thing you can get to a universal constant in video games.
They just fricking suck anons.
lol stay mad, DnD cuck.
lol, not him, but does this mean you actually look forward to avowed?
I still have a place in my heart for it and no matter who right you are I can never truly dislike it. I played through it when it came out and nearly rage quite because of all the fricking bugs but I always came back to it. Oh and the addons are actually really good you should play those.
I played and finished NWN2 back in the day when it was new. Does it really end with "rocks fall and you die"? It must have been so intensely stupid that I blocked out the memory and forgot about it.
There's another ending where you join the BBEG and avoid the rocks fate but it's not official to MOTB.
Yes and no. Technically it is a "rocks fall and you disappear ". The story continues in Mask of the Betrayer.
>play VTM:R
>rocks fall and... you wake up centuries later in modern London
>mfw
>>mfw
It's mostly just because the gameplay is so bad, especially in the first act. There is some pretty decent og obsidian writing by avellone and fenstermaker in there later on, it's basically the generic establishing of the PC and the npcs that it's truly awful. You can pick out the stuff by the people that carried mask of the betrayer
But the tedium of the orc shit and thief guild/guard shit is unreal. I've also never seen a game that frontloaded its worst filler parts so aggressively
>It's mostly just because the gameplay is so bad, especially in the first act
I tired to start this game several times and never got farther than where you meet the tiefling girl for the first time. It was just awful
>you're a peasant
Though to be fair, you are trained by Daeghun who is heavily implied to be a proper /operator/harper agent or some shit.
>rocks fall on everyone and you all die
RPG characters can survive a hit from God but they cannot survive a rock dropping on their head.
They can cut planets in half but cannot break down a wooden door.
Rolled a 1 on the fort save
NWN2 > NWN1
This is, mathematically, a true statement, assuming the values of N, W, and N are greater than zero
Autism: The Post
>mfw I’ve now learned enough Greek to read some icons
Autism: The Post
Can you play as a drow tho?
yeah
Technical reasons aside, yes. That was always the complaint about NWN20's OC - how generic and archetypal it was. Also, it robbed the players of Neeshka's pussy.
Honestly it is surprising they did the emotionally detached elf over the lively fun tiefling, a Neeshka romance basically wrote itself.
>Neeshka's pussy
just one of several things cut, fun fact they took time to give warlocks unique spellcasting that the creator of the game hated because it took time away from other parts of the game.
God I still love her.
Even though her romance was cut, it was still better than the Elanee one in every way
Its funny how everyone perceives Neeshka as true GF because she actually talks to the MC in a natural way before the not-a-romance blossoms and shows actual affection while the pedophile autism elf stalks the mc for several years, decides she wants him in her collection, after that basically treats him as loosely known coworker she sonetimes meets at the night shift before sperging out right before possible death.
>Greetings human being beep boop, we will possibly fall tommorow, social protocol dictates we shall now engage in intercourse beep beep to asure our affection boop.
I remember the first time I stumbled over this dialogue I legit didnt know what the frick was going on. I thought there is no romance or I missed it because the wizturds academies e-thot and the judging pedophile elf never resided in my party, the tomboy died and Neeshka was super affectionate but obviously had bonding issues and never told me.
you're literally raping her writer
Still a based and correct opinion thoughever. Also, Sawyer doesn't have a single writing credit on NWN2, in fact he doesn't have writing credits on most of the games he worked on.
Leave it to Ganker to reduce all nuance to the barest terms. NWN2 is a grand adventure with great characters, and it's fun to play. It also serves as an excellent setup for the more adventurous Mask of the Betrayer story.
Ammon Jerro is based af
My main gripe with nwn2's base campaign is that it's a bit too linear, especially at the start and it takes a while to get going. Also the last area (not the bossfight) is shit.
MotB is pretty gud, but the true kino lies within SoZ. They really squeezed out everything from the engine for the areas in that. The snek bases/temples are positively beautiful.
All the characters in act 1 are great, act 2 the writing feels like it falls off a cliff.
SO MANY YEARS AGO TODAY is all I can think of when I see NWN2.
I was reminded of this
https://rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=159
It is cool they brought the Keep ownership system over to Pillars of Eternity. Also they would have been an earlier version where you own a base in the docks right next to the bar but they cut that content. The burnt out building is still there though.
Casavir managed to save most of the party during the collapse when rocks fell. Only to get captured by luskan agents later(Thanks SoZ retcon for watering down the sacrifice) Wonder If he ended up signing infernal contract with Asmodeus while being imprisoned somewhere in luskan.
I am completely satisfied with Elanee. The piquancy of the romance with her is added by the fact that she is much older than the protagonist and has been following him since his birth.
And I don't give a frick about Neeshka at all. She is an extremely vile and infuriating character.
It would be better to have an affair with Torio Claven.
Bishop stop being an butthole and go help your party.
