Not the best but it's pretty good. The ending comes way too fast and slow at the same time. The lighthouse takes like 2 hours but the bahamut is like 10 minutes

Played 4 separate times. Never did beat it. Fun game, bounty missions seemed cool but incredibly autistic at times trying to get them to spawn. Even wrote a guide for leveling up on gamefaqs. Was very sad when I fricked up trying to get one of the zodiac spears.I dont think I ever got any of the big boy weapons either.

I like the main cast, gameplay, atmosphere, character and story which are all very important but so many things about it are shit.

If the game had a town portal spell and the rarity of some items was increased I would be a better game. I would not know if it is the best but it is my favorite thus far.

FF12 is an Ivalice Alliance spinoff. Best mainline is FF6. Best Ivalice is FFT. No, I will not elaborate further.

fran only exists as a plot device and as balthier's property. She has no character at all.

Her story feels like it's missing the final act. For all the talk she gives to her sisters about how they can't just hide out isolated in the woods and that they need to accept that they're part of Ivalice too, you'd think there'd be a payoff where some larger event forces them to accept that she's right and, as a result, accept her as a member of their tribe despite her being a wanderer. Or maybe they could not accept her, but still concede that she was right in the grand scheme. Instead, there's just nothing. Though that's true for most of FFXII's plot; the story just comes to a screeching halt after the Pharos and a lot of character arcs/subplots feel unfinished as a result
Maybe but she had probably the best ass in the franchise despite being blocky PS2 graphics. Also her VA had a voice like silk.
Vaan is a good character. I agree he's not a good protagonist though, but I like his story arc.

He just gets dragged around doing absolutely fricking nothing while slowly fading out from the plot.
I think people who say XII is good haven't played it in years and only base their opinions on childhood nostalgia and headcanon.

Liteally a single player MMO where you have to program your party's AI behaviour. Tales of symphonia did it better. FFXII is the game that made me stop buying new Final Fantasy games, I've picked it up and dropped it 4 separate times, I've REALLY REALLY tried to like it, I love Ivalice as a setting but FFXII really doesn't do the setting justice.

VI, IX, XIV and XV are the worst.
Didn't like it. The cast is easily the most forgettable in the entire mainline series. The Ivalice setting is insultingly underutilized resulting in 5/6 of your party being boring humans and what's supposed to be the main duo barely even counting as characters to begin with.
The difficulty ranges between autoplay basic gambits and dull hp sponge super bosses.
ATB resetting to zero when you select a command makes the combat janky and encourages defaulting to brain dead gambits instead of actually being engaged.
The story is a broken husk of a cancelled trilogy with only entertainment value lying in all the "coincidental" parallels to New Hope.
For an installment being held in such a high regard, I find it barely mediocre at best.

And yet, XII just hit the right notes for me in terms of atmosphere and feeling/pacing. Which puts it into my top 3 FFS, solely based on how good it hits those notes for me.

its the most bland unimaginative shit final fantasy with the most boring battle system, the blandest world imaginable in which you run through the same looking desert for 3/4 of the game, with the most mundane boring "towns" that look like they were build exclusively with blocks and the worst star war copy right music in the entire franchise. It is painful just how fricking NOTHING this shit game truly is on every level. Prove me wrong for the love of god you literally cant.
