That only means a remake on Switch 2 at lunch
I want a new 3D Zelda game in time for dinner. a new 2D game in time for dessert
Dad used to play World of Tanks until his arthritis kicked in.
>Not even 30 and already having hands pain.
I hoped it to happen later rather than sooner.
Maybe I'll have to start playing those sony games.
Do stamina-building with that arm spinny thing fighters use.
Care to elaborate anons?

Forgive the Chinky name. This will give you great muscular stamina and will erase game-related pain. I'm eleven years older than you and use it daily.
Hey thanks anon!
Use a vertical mouse AND a regular mouse, and switch between them throughout the day. Your're welcome.
I had arm/wrist arthritis at 19 from guitar noodling and cricket.
My legs never stopped having pain issues since puberty.
Wearing a compression glove has helped my hands a ton, along with varying what controller I use and actually stopping when my hands hurt
find a copy of 'becoming a supple leopard' and do the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder mobilizers
>Fricked up my wrist at work and now my thumb hurts all the time and my tendon throbs
>Nothing wrong visible on any scans
Been years now.
I was working as a machinist and got laid off during pandemic between that and now having an office job its fricking insane how much better shape my hands are in. I can easily use a controller or kbm all day with no issues while before it used to hurt to use a mouse for more than an hour.
I can't even wash dishes without it hurting. Shit is fricked forever. Should have just fell on my face. I mean my head did bounce off the floor and bust open a bit anyways. I don't think I really slowed the fall much at all. Be careful not to slip anons!
nothing of value was lost
>playing ocarina of time for the first time in 2024
Lol.
i played it for the first time in 2023 and it was actually pretty just okay.
Are you me? I thought it was just okay as well
it was too slow for my tastes. not very mechanically or tonally complex. (inb4) i'm liking MM a lot better
repent, zoomer
That's fine, a lot of the hype behind OoT was for technical reasons and it being pretty much the first 3D game to get action/dungeoning right
It's a game that's largely lauded for its historical presence, and all of its good ideas (of which there are legitimately several) have been copied and iterated upon to the point they seem obvious rather than pioneered in OoT. Coming back to it after decades of games it inspired it can seem somewhat rote and overly formulaic, especially in the back half where it stumbles a bit.
>especially in the back half where it stumbles a bit
Explain.
All three child dungeons have a very clear theme, a solid progression centered around obtaining the dungeon item and using it to both re-contextualize elements of old rooms and open new ones. The adult dungeons are more complex and less focused, with this pattern intensifying as they go on. The result is that even putting aside the infamous key in the Water Temple, by the time you're going through the Spirit and Shadow temples there's little you haven't seen before structurally or mechanically.
>putting aside the infamous key in the Water Temple
God, that one drove me absolutely insane. I fricking hate the water temple so goddamn much.
I played it when it came out originally, but because I was playing games on more than an N64 and wasn't limited, I always found it boring.
I feel this is the case with most nintendo games. They only play nintendo games so they dont realize whats going on beyond their walled garden. Breath of the wild was similar.
As anons have said, OoT was absolutely amazing for it's time. It had an amazing world, production values, innovative third person gameplay, an unmatched atmosphere, fantastic OST. It honestly felt like another world you could dive into and interact in any way you see fit compared to every other action adventure game on the market being a linear by the numbers experience. It did 3D open world on consoles before GTA 3 made it popular a console gen later.
Now a days, it just feels like any other 3rd person 3D action adventure game, but the fact it can even still hold up at an "okay" rating 26 years later is a testament to it's influence and design.
nah daggerfall and ultima 7 better
>3d
ok that's fair
>It did 3D open world
It literally did not do this.
if Zelda 1 is open world, then OoT is too.
If Zelda 1 isn't open world, then help us get BOTWhomosexuals to stop saying it is.
yeah, pretty much every 3d action game can find its roots here. while oot didn't invent many things it's credited for, it was the first that put them all together with such a high degree of polish.
people don't like to admit it, but botw and totk did the same
>but botw and totk did the same
they did nothing. they're shitty uninspired open world games with nothing to offer but bad mechanics and worthless cut and pasted content like garbage disposable loot and other recycled assets.
not only do they not copy other games well, they're not even good games.
elden ring took a lot of inspiration from botw in how it designed its world, much in the same way dark souls heavily took from oot.
there aren't many open world games that promote emergent gameplay like totk does, where the physics are so consistent you can build literally anything and it will work exactly as intended to such a polished degree.
you can find games that did things first or better individually, but none put them all together and made them all work pretty much flawlessly like totk did.
your mind is too shitpost ridden to see that
I played it on release and was the best thing ever for years and thats literally my opinion now.
While OoT broke new ground and invented a ton of shit that people take for granted these days, it's honestly not the most incredible experience in the world. It has its moments, but every actual moment the game has is literally, unironically surpassed by Majora's Mask. Which, while not breaking much in the way of new ground, is still an incredibly unique experience even now. To this day, I've never played or experienced something that has made me feel quite the way MM makes me feel.
>It has its moments, but every actual moment the game has is literally, unironically surpassed by Majora's Mask.
I disagree, I think OoT still offers a lot in terms of core experience (dungeons and structure) that MM doesn't. Still, I think this might be hard to notice on a first playthrough if you're coming to series late , and without a critical eye.
I never played it, but I'm not really in to zelda so whatever.
I did too and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it because, before playing them, I expected OoT to feel like a rough early 3D game that was notable for what it did technically rather than actually being enjoyable to play and I though LttP would be a better game where they had refined the top-down formula even if it wouldn't have been as impressive technologically, but when I actually played them I found myself enjoying OoT even though the novelties of it as a technical step forward obviously aren't effective today.
I played the 3d remake when I was a kid and dropped it pretty quickly, honestly zelda never really clicked with me
>3d remake
>when I was a kid
2011 was 13 years ago. Time is going too fast.
I've replayed OoT recently and it was just okay for me too.
And I fought every non-boss enemy by holding the analog stick forward and mashing B. I thought it was just a meme, but OoT's combat is really a joke.
>you must only CONSOOM [insert latest product here]
I played FF7 for the first time in 2020
For me it's the atmosphere in this scene.
>not navi diving out of kokiri forest
Why are young Zelda's breasts so fricking huge?
Is she a cow?
Sadly, it's just that pink piece of cloth that's supposed to be loose. She's pretty flat in the official art and still on the small side as an adult. Maybe one day we'll get the titty monster Zelda we deserve.
Not breasts, it's just bad 3D modeling, it's supposed to be a loose blouse.
You know the art was drawn after Koizumi made the models right? Based on the model?
Wait, you can mod custom player models into Ocarina of time now? What happens when you become adult Link in this situation, do you become Waluigi for the height increase?
No Wario just gets longer legs to compensate
>Long-legged Wario
Frick that sounds unsettling, I'm so used to seeing him with tiny stump legs
I've seen slight model changes between young and adult Link depending on the character you're using.
>now
>Wait, you can mod custom player models into Ocarina of time now?
Black person I can literally make my own rom hack nowadays in Blender.
The only game I've played in this series is OoT.
the first game in this series i ever played was CoH and it inspired me to check out the rest of the catalog. ALBW scratched the same exploration itch that CoH did
Took me a second to figure out CoH meant cadence of hyrule. Idk if that really counts as part of the zelda series. I should check it out regardless.
Most games since them have just been OoT remakes don't worry too much about it
You should play Majora's though, it has a lot of soulful novelty
Consider playing Link's Awakening or A Link to the Past some time.
I've actually heard a lot of people mention a link to the past over the years so I'll probably check it out
I doubt you'd be disappointed if you liked OoT. Those two and OoT are the three best ones in the series if you ask me. A Link to the Past is probably the best 2D one with Link's Awakening as a close second.
I'm a fake Zelda fan since I still haven't played the GBC games though 😡
only played Minish Cap, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess
only finished Minish Cap
>The only game I've played in this series is OoT.
And it wasn't a good game
>Frogposter
>moronic post
Pottery
I can't get motivated to play most games. They're all at my fingertips, a few clicks away, yet I never play them. I'd rather just post here.
pc gaming tends to do that
as if. console gaming is just as bad now with the subs and 'free games'. choice overload is everywhere
Console gaming is fun and exciting. This is a you problem.
I made my roommate visibly seeth with anger like 2 years ago when I decided to play majoras mask for the first time ever. Some people just completely burn themselves out and get mad when others play something
the only vidya interaction I remember with my roommate was I started watching him play enslaved and after an hour I asked if it was just one big escort quest and he got really bummed after that
I don't really see how that is necessarily a bad thing. Ico and RE4 are both big escort quests and they're great.
Yea like the other guy said i dont get why he would be sad at that. Did tou say anything else to him or did he just start crying or something
Sounds like he wasn't very passionate about the hobby to begin with I guess.
Watching my brother can be pretty rough in video games, because he misses LITERALLY EVERYTHING. If a game isn't a straight line, he's going to miss basically everything. I have no clue how he managed to beat basically anything besides first-person shooters
MM is an amazing game I hope you liked it anon.Your roommate sounds like a b***h
The guy was totally burnt out on games. Could never play anything single player because "he needs to feel like he's beating someone else to have fun".
You have to drink alcohol first
You're right. I think I'll go play OoT again.
That's pretty crazy to think that the timespan between OoT and the 3DS was just thirteen years. The PS3 is nearly 20 years old now and there has been little in notable advancement.
Major video game franchises now see 6-7 years between releases where there used to be 1-2 years.
Even Assassins Creed and Call of Duty don't come out yearly anymore.
>grew up with PC/PS1
>only nintendo games I usually played was the pokemon ones
>never gave a frick about zelda
>played botw just following the main quest and didn't enjoy much
>then played zelda 1 and it was great
>gave another chance to botw by just doing what I wanted in the game and also had a great time
>just got a 3ds to play pic related
I'm glad I didn't give a chance to the franchise before. Now I have a lot of games to play that are probably really good
play The Minish Cap, its a Capcom-developed Zelda for GBA, it rules
if you liked the first game's playstyle/adventuring/dungeon delving then play:
zelda a link to the past (Snes version before any remakes)
zelda links awakening dx(gameboy color)
the capcom gameboy zelda games(all of them!)
the 3ds sequel to a link to the past.
the cel shaded handheld games(with the boat and the railroad) were boring af to me and i didnt like the art style. felt more juvenile/puzzles all too obvious/easy.
you can try zelda 2 but its very different from all other zeldas. i beat it with my mums help and a game genie back when i was 6.
as for 3d zeldas i would recommend basically playing them in release order so you can see them progress, the stories dont all follow up but they allude to each other and are best experienced in release order.
ocarina of time and majoras mask are a must. i would not recommend ds versions. ruins the art style to me. emulator or use a real n64.
windwaker(i skipped. tried it later. hate tutorial area and art style)
twilight princess is great/weird/different. i played it with wii controls. one of my top favorite wii games.
skyward sword is alright. can skip or start it then decide to keep playing or skip. very boring/easy/generic feeling zelda to me.
botw was ok but loss of real dungeons made it not a real zelda game to me. havent touched the sequel.
i really enjoy the older style, overhead cam zelda games and the dungeons a lot more than the 3d games.
I already do. backlogs are for dummies
I dreamt I was 10 years old again a few nights ago. It was the best dream I've had in years. When I woke up I actually cried I was so upset over realizing I wasn't still a kid.
I HATE THE PASSAGE OF TIME
anon, that wasnt a dream, you really were 10 again for a short period of time.
Hope you told your mom you loved her.
>Dad used to play a bunch of video games before I was born and continued into my childhood
>The last 15 or so years though he'll just replay Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess back to back every few years
He's actually a little overdue on his playthroughs. I don't think he's played since early Covid quarantine
>Play the games you want to before it's too late
I will anon. I will.
God the passage of time has been harsh lately. Doesn't help thanks to the graphics race, big games come out much less frequently, we've only had five Zelda titles in this huge span of time (Skyward Sword, Link Between Worlds, Triforce Heroes, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom) and two of those were asset flips of two others
Its like this with every game or series. I remember when the wait between HL1 and HL2 was considered insanely long. I remember when longrunning series like DQ and FF could have a few entries every console generation. Or when GTA3, vice city and san andreas were all on the PS2. Now shit takes 5 years to release. PS2/xbox/GC era was the last time you could have a sequel in about a year.
To be fair, majoras mask was also an asset flip of OOT
Every Zelda game since Spirit Tracks has been complete garbage. ALBW is alright though.
life’s too short to be playing shitty zelda games
Maybe I'm just being OCD but I refuse to play more than one game at a time.
I played OOT 3D for the first time ever without ever having played Zelda games in the past cuz nintendo just wasn't a thing here in Lithuania, but man is the game obtuse even like two hours in, I'm sure kids back in the day had the patience and the exploration prowess to figure basic shit out even if it took them hours to progress going back and forth but I siimply don't feel like I have that luxury anymore, is it worth at least playing it through with a walkthrough guide whenever I get stuck for more than half an hour not knowing where to progress lol? I appreciate the creativity but this is as pre-2000s nintendo as it gets.
Just listen to Navi and explore.
Listen to Navi and use Saria's Song if you get stuck at worst youll need to refer to a guide but the game has been 100% covered on Gamefaqs to hell and back since 1998 so its no big deal getting lost.
>took them hours to progress going back and forth
It didn't, most of it was pretty self-explanatory and people figured it out within minutes. It's modern games which are rotting your brain through excessive handholding.
I played when I was 8 and it took me like a week to unlock adult Link. The novelty of 3D graphics at the time fricked my brain too hard to allow me to think.
Yeah just use a guide when you get stuck, don't let other anons convince you otherwise. Your time is valuable and you'll get to experience many many more games this year. Who the frick is playing these games to increase his intellect anyway.
>to increase intellect
No, puzzle solving is just fun. The only time a guide is justified is if you spend an hour exhausting every single idea you can think of and trying to look at things from diffferent perspectives.
1 hour is too much. 30 mins maybe. I'm always scared I somehow glitched myself and can't progress normally.
I don't think I've ever gotten stuck with a puzzle in a game because of a glitch.
At the very least, I can say with absolute certainty that doesn't happen in Zelda.
Happened to me on Blue Reflection 2. Once it happens it's over you will never roam a game aimlessly for hours again..
i loved the strategy guide when i was a kid, it was full of cool artwork
Yeah you pretty much need to consult a guide to beat the old Zelda games
If this was a conversation about the older 2D games I'd say you were right. I finished OoT at around 6 years old and the only trouble I had was the Megaton hammer race.
>need to consult a guide
The intention was word of mouth.
A majority of these games are designed to be hard and obtuse so you'd go to school and tell your friends about it and share tips and secrets.
It's literally how Pokemon became popular. Red/Green actually sold like SHIT for months in Japan until word of mouth about Mew, which was added into the game as a joke, started spreading. Then sales skyrocketed to infinity.
Concepts like the internet, datamining, and content farms make this impossible. Any new game will have all its secrets revealed and spoiled in a youtube thumbnail a week before release.
No the intention was to drum up extra revenue from premium phonecalls and magazines
These games outdate those.
they don't but ok
Nintendo Power Hotline was 1987.
Nintendo Power was 1988.
There were third party guides like Prima, but it's ridiculous to suggest game devs centered their difficulty around making other people money.
you should look up how PR in the entertainment industry works
How can you get stuck when there's a "let me tell you what to do next" button? No wonder gamers nowadays only play gta, fifa and fornite
just talk to the npcs they tell you everything
You morons suck at video games
Man LT players continue to be the worst people to deal with online lol
Never played MM. It was too complicated for me as a kid so I dropped it. Should I try to get into it again or is the 3ds version superior?
do not play the 3ds version
the gamecube is now twice as old as i was when i first got it.
can't wait for the new remake to completely retcon fricking everything
10000 hours of timelinegays whining on youtube incoming
I genuinely forget OoT 3d exist, how come nobody talks about it?
why did they even remake it for the 3ds and not regular consoles
Because you can play it for free on pc
Because it's shit. Like all remakes they turned the darker scenes into overbloomed cartoony garbage. Someone should post the comparison image.
Who cares? It's not art. It's just Zelda.
I care. Atmosphere is the defining trait of 3D Zelda.
>Atmosphere is the defining trait of 3D Zelda.
I agree.
No you don't. Atmosphere is a hell of a lot more than a pretty picture.
I know, that's why that pretty picture is made up of a bunch of screenshots.
Now you're starting to sound disingenuous and baity.
Of course I am. People that outright deny the 3D's visuals despite many areas bursting with atmosphere and improved design are bait incarnate or just nostalgia ridden. 3D has issues, but it's not a total frick up either. Far from it. Since its release I've said all it needs is the N64 shadow shader put on top of it to make it 10/10 and I stand by that now.
Please, compare any 2 screenshots of the same place and time between the original vs the 3DS remaster and try to show ONE situation in which the original doesn't mog the remaster. All the ones you posted, from what I recall, look better in the original. Every time this comparison is made the remaster is put to shame.
The part most people miss about OoT 3D when complaining about them being bright and atmosphere and shit is that they were made for 3DS. That screen was fricking terrible and dim they had to brighten them so you could see shit. GBA ports had the same problem where all the sprites would be brighter and washed out in an emulator because of how they were changed for the trash screen.
The color space of the GBA screen is actually different, which is why colors appear oversaturated in emulators on an sRGB screen. It's not an issue of the screen not having a backlight/being too dim - the screen itself is not capable of producing vibrant colors. You can see this with the GB micro which shares a similar color space to the original GBA screen, and has a backlight.
You can't just make the screen super dark on a small handheld screen moron
I'm aware of the rationale behind it. Putting it on the 3DS was just a bad idea.
So you made a boogieman in your head and decided to shitpost at it instead of simply elaborating your case. You're just making yourself look bad.
>So you made a boogieman in your head
>"Because it's shit. Like all remakes they turned the darker scenes into overbloomed cartoony garbage"
Hmm
Eh, I guess. You still fricked up using that as an excuse and considering Ganker one person.
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
why are all ramakes so shit and so gay?
The original creators either don't respect their original design mentality or have simply forgotten it. Then you have the fact that they're 99% of the time made for money rather than the original actually needing an update and egotistical idiots thinking "they can do better."
I'll give credit to Grezzo for at least making OoT play nearly identical to the original including glitches, but they accomplished little else to say nothing of their other projects.
There's something about the 90s that made all games good. Movies too used to be great back in the day. Maybe it's because people didn0t have the internet and phones and could focus entirely on their creative work.
Grezzo represent everything wrong with vidya today in my opinion, if we're truly to consider video games art, it shouldn't be acceptable to just hand classic titles people once slaved over to some random jap sweatshop to 'improve'. It should be derided the same way the GTA 'remasters' were. Imagine doing something like this to a Monet painting and telling the art critics they're wrong. Of course the only reason they got the gameplay right is because Nintendo handed them the source code, making it accurate down to the glitches as you said, they're complete hacks otherwise and have no artistic talent.
mmmmmmm MAYBE, but the remaster was really good and everyone is begging for a Switch port rn
welcome to the future. everything is now
you can't possibly think the shit on the left looks better.
Black folk nose is a pyramid and look at the awful lighting.
>better thing is actually bad actually
This Link's face always cracks me up
bro look how fricking bad the models on the top are. those faces and poses are not up to an acceptable standard.
look at the mustard coloured skin and shitty looking grey shadows.
of course they were tying to make everything darker. they were trying to hide how bad the art was on 64.
Nah that's MM.
Yeah MM3DS is fricking awful. Particularly Twinmold.
OoT 3D looks better in like 95% of cases. Take off the nostalgia goggles.
This is one of the rare instances where the N64 version is better.
Why talk about it when the PC port shits on it in every way?
Because is a 3DS game. I honestly like the 3D version but the circle pad is cancer. Never bothered with 3DS emulation. And you can just play the PC port
every time I see a OOT thread I point out just how bad the art direction in OOT64 is.
and how much better OOT 3DS is is every way.
The last 13 years felt a lot faster than the first 13.
Time moves faster as you get older. There's a reason being in school is romanticized in media, even when you're dying it'll feel like a huge chunk of your life and you'll be nostalgic for it
Strangely, it wouldn't if we had better memory capacity.
Part of the reason things feel faster is that we're limited with capacity more and more as we age.
We could literally solve this problem medically.
In fact, the moment we become hybrid bio-mechanic memory based, the moment we will have a problem with endless storage and time feeling "too slow".
I remember hating how slow time travelled as a 4 year old. By 10 that was no longer a problem. By 15 I was struggling to keep pace and nowadays I blink and a fricking month goes by. Thought the 20s was more of a blur thanks to drugs too.
This is a solvable problem we could self regulate, as strange as that sounds.
I disagree. I think that a lot of childhood is just very similar. As soon as people start becoming self aware, they're usually in school and they're usually in school growing up with their classmates for the next fifteen to sixteen years. You're usually at that school for three to four years, and if you go to college it's usually another four to whenever. I think when you get out of school, you begin to realize how quick the world moves since you are now charges with some responsibility in your day. If I moved every year as a kid, it would seem quick to you too.
I'll never
>Play all the good games
>Read all the good books
>Watch all the good movies
And I've made my peace with that, being satisfied with enjoying what I can when I can.
I've been going through my backlog, what more should I do?
>be me
>finally got a good career with healthy future prospects
>girlfriend who I thought was nice
>decide I can finally be at peace and play the games I never got to play after work
>all goals accomplished, I no longer feel anxiety after work so I enjoy playing games
>make time for girlfriend whenever she comes home
>she complains about her dead-end job, boss hating her etc.
>I'm supportive everytime, I make dinner when possible, sometimes go out of my way to get her favourite food if she has a particularly bad day (which happened a lot)
>ask if she'd like to do something (going on a trip, watch a movie, go out to eat etc. just positive attention)
>keeps saying no to any and all of my suggestions
>she just places herself on a couch and watches reality tv
>try to cheer her up frequently, ask about her well-being etc.
>can't talk about how well I'm doing at my job anymore because she gets annoyed by it
>sees me play a videogame one day after she woke up from one of her 3-hour naps
>makes a sarcastic comment after seeing me have fun
>offer to do something with her
>she says no again as usual
>frick it, continue playing videogames
>over the course of a year this continues and she resents me for having a good job and being happy in life
>acts even more miserable as if she can't stand to see me happy
>eventually she breaks up with me and could barely hide the pride in her face
>have trouble playing videogames again now because one lifegoal remains unfulfilled
I guess she won in the end.
Most girls are just whiny holes, anon. Play the games and enjoy them. Life is uncertainty. Enjoy your games in a creepy attic with spiders. Glory in them amid the dirt of a filthy crawlspace with spiders. Just enjoy them, for they will bring you more happiness than any mere hole will.
How do you even detect this kind of baggage before entering a committed relationship?
Being a mindreader I guess? She presented her best self to me initially while I was always myself. She would be kind to me, she would tell me she loved me frequently, give me affection in different ways, and listen to me.
Then one day she started doing fewer things. I tell her if something's up and you get a non-answer and if you press her she'll manipulate you and tell you it's because you're not doing certain things the right way.
Then after a while she'll be doing nothing at all while you're still bending over backwards trying to please someone who's determined to be miserable and even more determined to make you more miserable than her.
>bending over backwards trying to please someone
This was your mistake. There's nothing wrong with making an effort to get along with someone, but it's in the nature of women that they push any button they can until the relationship is destroyed. You need to have strength and assert your own boundaries, women actually want this.
you don't
enjoy
Sounds like my mom.
Holy shit, this sounds like a girl I met online years ago. She was just always determined to be miserable for whatever reason.
Women (just like most blacks) have poor impulse control. They don't think ahead, just in the moment, so sure she was happy and prideful in leaving you - there's no way she's unhappy because of something SHE did! You dodged a bullet in that she left because of that, and not that you had to find out she was banging two other separate guys behind your back for about a year without you noticing. I went through that, and haven't gone back to that life since.
>why are you having fun? why are you not being miserable with me?
>what, you want to make me happy? no, why can't you be miserable like me? if you loved me you'd stop being happy
sort of a lobotomy, you wouldn't have been able to fix her, don't worry too much about it, it's not worth your time
Honestly man, I'd say you got the better end of the stick here. Women in general are not worth the time and effort in this day and age. Treat them like shit, they stay and cum buckets, treat them like you did, they resent you. Can't say how to deal with loneliness since I'm in a similar spot, just keep going I suppose
this game looks so clean despite being on the 3ds. how did they do it?
i want to kiss saria on the lips
are you sure you want to be doing that after the things I did to her
I've played this game every couple of years since it's release. Never played much of master quest though. Is it good? Always felt the first couple dungeons were goofy
Any boomers out there still have the feeling that OOT is a new game instead of it being almost 30 years old? You know, when you imagine the game?
I think it's the best metric for when my brain stopped working right.
I’m doing my backlog. I’m lucky to not have any black hole games like FF14, Overwatch or whatever.
I thought that happened years ago. 3D feels fricking ancient. I was in high school.
I like how most near-30 yr olds are only now having their 1/4 life crisis.
I was having that at 15 (though it got worse at 21 because I thought I was dying.. still kinda think that).
When you have crippling back issues and organ issues that early, you basically just give up caring and think "do I go with a bang or do I just suffer for 60-80 more years(this is pre-covid, that's now 10-30 years post covid)".
While I wasted it on uni, I'm glad I ditched the career path before covid and partied every week at nightclubs.

wow, reddit.
you are a cringelord
I'm here to talk about N64 Zelda games. Not you sampling pad time story ideas for your 10 hour deeper meaning game breakdown.
Stop crying you Black person
>1990 was 34 years ago
The very first legend of Zelda is about to turn 38 years old next month.
>played and beat Majora's Mask on my Switch
>still haven't played OoT
Should I still play it?
Playing all the mega man games now before I turn into an old fart
why hasnt nintendo release oot 3d and majors mask 3d for the switch? I have both on my n64, but I would like to play em on my switch
They decided to use N64 games as a selling point for the bonus paypig online tier that I pay for.
>why hasnt nintendo release oot 3d and majors mask 3d for the switch? I have both on my n64, but I would like to play em on my switch
They're probably just going to remake them again. 3D was a very low quality remake, the 3DS is weaker than a gamecube so they couldn't improve it that much.
When OoT 3D came out, OoT felt so fricking old to me. Now it's been the same amount of time and OoT 3D feels like it came out a few years ago. What the frick man
video games aren't important
Never played either of it, but recently got a 3DS. Should I play the 3DS ocarina or the OG?
3DS, it's the exact same game with better visuals and less stupid niggles.
The 3DS version is much better
Depends what you value. The 3DS version is very good BUT it does ruin a few cutscenes.
OG, 3DS version fricks with the art style and adds goofy bouncing statues everywhere with hints for the toddlers, among other changes
I also prefer the old version of the game but don't especially dislike the new version. I just prefer it as a console game instead of a handheld game. 3DS version is solid.
If you're really considering 3D, the best way is to play original first, then 3D on a replay and form your own opinion. I'll always advocate for N64 over 3D, but that's just me.
3ds because quick item management is a godsend that “people” dont get
Your Redux and PC port?
3DS lighting is better
I think I already played all those things I wanted to try as a kid, some of the "must plays" and stuff that I found out by accident and ended up loving. Im more interested in whatever shit is coming out at the moment, for anything else I have youtube
i want to play the games but i have all the time in the world to do it
i am actually an immortal that has lived for over 200 years
Getting old isn't so bad. If you're not a dumbass you'll end up with your childhood toys in great condition that are now worth a fortune.
>pic related
what a line up
except mortal kombat, frick those games, never saw what everyone else did in them
>never saw what everyone else did in them
Interesting story, atmospheric music, a lot of fun secrets and dumb easter eggs. If you liked kung fu movies back jn the day a lot of characters were lifted directly from them.
3v3 Kombat, anon. It's hilarious goofy fun.
As a kid I thought the blood and gory endings were super cool
Ocarina of Time turns 26 years old and Half-Life 2 turns 20 years old this year.
I never thought I'd see the day where Half-Life 2 enters boomer game tier.
Im 30 and a half and Ive done nothing with my life, I've literally wasted a comfy life in drugs and procrastination, I literally want to cry when I think of the 90s and 00s and how happy and healthy I was but also how I could've done a lot stuff to prevent my current situation, I feel guilty for betraying the kid I once was
Also, OoT went down on my tier list years ago after a long reign as the GOAT. Nowadays Majoras or the 2d games feel more interesting and replayable
>I feel guilty for betraying the kid I once was
As a kid I never wanted to be anyone or do anything, just to play video games and watch anime. I feel proud for living up to that now that I'm 35
Ya gotta quit the drugs man.
Cant ever be happy on drugs.
What do you want to do with your life? There's still time to be happy.
Wait.
When OoT3D came out that meant we could play N64 games on the go now.
Which means Switch 2 will be able to PLAY 3DS GAMES ON THE GO
no? oot remake came out like 10 years ago and the original oot came out like 20 years before the remake. it's not even close
1998 to 2011
2011 to 2024
13 years
too late the israelites locked me out of everything with 2fa
i want out of clown world if you speak out at all they put you in jail or gangstalk you
Meds
I was thinking about playing the original again + master quest again on nes
Why did they make such a shitty remaster for 3DS instead of a big budget Wii U remake?
so?
i know good games are still gonna be made after i die, and vidya isn't gonna matter to me whether or not there's an afterlife
what harm is missing a couple thousand gonna do to me?
May as well play the games that you want to now. It's not like you have anything better to do.
but i don't want to play any games
It's Ganker. None of us do.
majoras mask and botw suck
Wasn't OoT always 3d?
No, the original was a 2D game. It's why people say they prefer 2D Zelda - they're talking about the original OoT.
You wot mate?
LBW was the first original 3D zelda.
you must die
PLEASE just call it Ocarina
"OoT" sounds too dutch to not sicken me whenever I read it
ik sneed ook ook ik sneed
>Play the games you want to before it's too late
I would usually shit on such threads but last 5 years have been a roller coaster, that I hate to agree OP.
Play current games that look cool
Play old games that look cool
Take breaks and come back to avoid burnout
Don't think about rating the game in your mind or critiquing or circlejerking on Ganker or discord
>people defending the 64 out of nostalgia.
these are objectively bad models. they show a completely lack of talent and knowledge in both modelling and texturing.
and show no understanding of colour theory.
this is the 3D equivalent of a child's shitty MS paint drawing.
Serious question: would you guys play a FULL remake of OoT? I'm not talking about some graphic improvement, but a complete overhaul.
Also, do note i didn't say "like" or "be happy if they did". I said "play", even begrudgingly so.
No, hell no.
i wouldn't, btw
Maybe, but I'd hate myself a little bit for it. All they need to do is what they did with 3D, just with higher resolution textures and better lighting.
Remakes are pure cancer. If I want to play OoT, I will simply play OoT.
Make new content. Make a sequel. Make a prequel. Make an unrelated game. Reuse the engine for a different project. Do literally anything else.
>If I want to play OoT, I will simply play OoT.
how can I when the art is so fricking bad? look at this shit
the original is unplayably ugly. thank frick for the remake.
Not my fricking problem kid, stick with BotW where your homosexual ass belongs.
>BotW
a game with almost equally bad art direction zero good gameplay.
no thanks.
bottom looks like ass.
very hard to make dogshit look good without throwing it out entirely.
>how can I when the art is so fricking bad?
that's a (you) problem
Don't kid yourself, anon. Just the fact that you thought of it makes it clear that you would play it, like it or not.
Over maybe the past year, my vision has been getting worse. Things are blurry and I can barely read webpages with white backgrounds. I'm only 36.
Go outside and look at stuff far away from you for a couple minutes every day. It will help your eye muscles
Funny you make this thread because I’m replaying it for the first time in over 15 years. Finished the Fire Temple last night and just got the iron boots. I’ll save the Water Temple for one sitting and see if it’s as bad as everyone says it is, because I made it through as a 11 year old with no problem. What I’m noticing is I don’t remember the dungeons being this short, the combat being as simple, and the overworld being so empty. It was all groundbreaking for the time though and I have so many memories of each area that my childhood mind filled with imagination. Diving off Gerudo Valley is as fun as ever and I can’t wait for the Spirit Temple. I’ll always love this game, it’s like coming back home after being away for such a long time.
