Does anyone have a decklist for Normal Dinos? Literally no one is playing this deck and there's so much bullshit dinosaur support that I have no clue where to start.
There's a couple but it depends on whether you still want to do the ole scrap combo, if you don't you can keep your deck at 40 cards, but it turns any ground xeno after the first turn into a brick. 45 is still the sweet spot imo.

Chaos giants is actually a really good example of this in the anime they needed 1 of each gear hound and it only negated face up monster during the battle phase instead of just turning monster effects off like it does in the game

The concept of OTK decks is dead and has been dead for a long time now all of the strongest First turn decks have no issue playing through interruption, breaking boards and OTKing on the second turn aswell. So it it would be wise for konami to stop printing cards and with the sole focus of killing on the second turn in mind. It's why the galaxy eyes support sucked ass and why this ancient gear support is actually decent as you can build a pretty good board with the new cards going first

Terraforming was banned because searching field spells like Secret Village and Necrovalley out of archetype is pure degeneracy. And IF has never been honest. With it legal too you have to design cards around the fact IF can break it. You could ban every Tear card, and neither will ever come back. Especially after Thrust.

Last time I played it was when Mirrorjade came out, when the usual board was MJ + Branded in Red + maybe a tax dragon or two.

Maxx C at least gives the player a choice instead of just completely fricking it over. I don't understand how people don't understand this. If you get hit with Maxx C yeah it sucks but you can still MAKE a choice. It's not your opponent revealing some bullshit blow out card that has no deeper gameplay element to it.
It's all bullshit handtraps and blowouts at the end of the day, I don't see one as any different than the other.

You're staring at a full SHS board. Oh sure, let me just set a monster face down and pass turn, I will certainly survive through fricking Masurawo, a 3k Baronne, the train, Regulus, Savage or whatever else is running around. Wow your choice is to lose the game because they drew 15 cards or lose the game to lethal attack damage on turn 3 by not playing.
Dark Ruler can't instant win because it guarantees the opponent another turn, as does Evenly Matched - and running cards like that runs you the risk of drawing it against Runick or Lab or something. It absolutely is not just all blowouts, you can have some pretty decent back and forths against Branded, VS and other Bystial variants, or try to push through a Spright, Naturia or D Link board with an Imperm and some gas.
But Maxx C just turns it into a shitshow. Even if I win off a Maxx C it feels like I didn't even play the game. I manage to get through a board, draw Maxx C off a TTT or some shit and hit them with it on Turn 3 and instantly win.
Go join the other roaches in the gas chamber you paint huffing cretin.

I've been saying this for years: handtraps are a shitty patch. The real problem is that the game is too fricking fast and revolves around Turn 1/2 OTK.
I don't mind the idea of the handtraps but I think the generic ones are too strong, kind of a similar issue with the ED monsters. I actually like the idea of cards like Havnis and Air Lifter.
Actually, as annoying as Blossom is one card I think flies under the radar a bit is Impermanence.

By ignoring all the old things the deck did besides the part about having no spells. Its not about attacking from defense or anything its just a synchro pile
It's not really Superheavy Samurai. Konami released a few broken main deck monsters and people use them to make generic negate boards. Most decks play 0-1 Superheavy synchros in the extra deck.
You can activate spells in the Draw phase to try and dodge Droll.
As fun as it is to watch MathBlack folk get Drolled after Small World, Droll formats are pretty fricking abysmal all around.
SHS is the most random deck to be meta. Despite being an anime deck I don't think I've seen a single soul give one shit about it pre support. A based anime deck like d/d/d should be meta instead, would be the best timeline

It's kind of funny how Kash was just kind of decent and got slapped in the banlist, and then they release a deck that can take its pick of Dark Fighter FTK, Scythelock behind 2-3 omnis, a full negate board, Amorphage lockouts etc.

Honestly, if they wanted to start testing a master rule 6, master duel is the best way to do so.
Make an alternative format called "experimental" where devs just make tentative changes to the ruleset and see what players like and don't, then apply changes to it until it's playable and ship it out as the new master rule.

The rest of the game is so broken that there's not another tool that has this much sheer, broad impact in counterplay. It's not that it's good, it's that there's nothing else that serves its role better.
It does ACTUALLY make it worse. Any hope I had of combing over my opponent's combo when going second is immediately thrown out the window the moment they fire off a Maxx C on draw phase and it resolves.
Ban the roach, introduce a mulligan for the player going second.
If you're aiming to combo over the combo anyway then YOLO that shit. You probably would've lost if you couldn't without the roach anyways, and how many interruptions can he draw? I don't see how the situation is any less backfoot here, the issue is still losing the coinflip. I think the going second player has much worse to fear than the roach on a practical level.

Which, more often than not, if you're going for a non-OTK going second approach it means you're going to set up on them so they can beat you with their limited resources anymore. Maxx C effectively makes sure that strategy fails entirely. So cards like DRNM are dead in the water for anything but a dedicated deck.

It's 100% not. For example of you DRNM + Kaiju/Sphere Mode/Raigeki/Evenly them, and then go full combo to set up your own board full of negates. You skipped battle phase so couldn't kill them, but they have an empty board and like 2-3 cards in hand. Very hard to make a comeback.
Similarly true in an instance, where you didn't skip battle and played through the negates, and used the battle to wipe their board, but couldn't kill them. If they have like 3 cards left in hand or less, the duel is more or less even. If they drew 10+ cards off Maxx C. They won.
Same for the first example. You set up your own board of negates after skipping battle cause of DRNM, if they have 2-3 cards in hand next turn, it's gonna be very hard to come back.
If they drew 10+ cards, you're fricked.

That's exactly the scenario we're talking about. The odds are already against you. Unless your deck is specifically designed to lock them down with floodgates, you fricking lost the moment they drop a Maxx C on you. They're going to rebuild and frick you up next turn if you don't kill then that very turn.
ESPECIALLY side your combo is likely how you're going to destroy their board after DRNM.
With Maxx C, you need a very specific 2-3 card combo of unsearchable cards to out a full board.
Without Maxx C, all you need is the searchable negate and your own combo starter.

I know this is a situation that is impossible to imagine for roachBlack folk, but it is actually the most common thing in the world when you go second against decks without a ridiculous ceiling. Your hand can beat the board but can't kill the opponent. That's the entire idea around certain powerful cards as well, like Zeus and Dark Ruler.
If the roach resolves, you HAVE to kill them.
Roach is fine this format with SHS unable to play the outs. Just play a deck that doesn’t search much, or cheats by adding from GY, placing in S/T from deck, etc.
Basically Labrynth, and that's it. Which is why that deck was meta during this exact format. It's one of the few decks that can deal with Droll and Nibiru, and Maxx C.

I think the worst part about Manadium is that a lot of the necessary UR are useless in basically any other deck. The fact that I needed the entire Scareclaw UR core put me off from ever building it.
I personally really like that from a lore perspective. It also makes Tear being getting hit and Scareclaw never being actually good sting less.

Nem is one of those decks that takes like 2 hours for people to figure out for some reason, even though it should be extremely simple. I guess that's what overdosing on "negate" does to your brain. People are physically incapable of understanding what a deck does unless it ends on Baronne.

This is why Dragon Link is the most soulful deck with the most dedicated playerbase. If any other deck got cards like Eclipse Wyvern or Elpy banned all the people who play it would declare it dead and move on to the next flavor of the month, but Dragon GODS adapt and persevere.

Think Eldlich. You want to go first but you have a bunch of random effects that are only live going second, to give you board-breaking options.
Your ideal line is Sweet Dreams search Nem search Tower search Reveil and whatever, summon Reveil search Repeter or Louve if you already have Repeter. Opponent's turn Repeter is a DRNM, then on your turn it adds back Sweet Dreams, Tower again for the two dinguses, Reveille from GY, Sweet Dreams to get Realized and now they can't negate Dreaming or Realized, activate Oreiller and that's 15 banishes so Nemu is live and you win.

The concept of OTK decks is dead and has been dead for a long time now all of the strongest First turn decks have no issue playing through interruption, breaking boards and OTKing on the second turn aswell. So it it would be wise for konami to stop printing cards and with the sole focus of killing on the second turn in mind. It's why the galaxy eyes support sucked ass and why this ancient gear support is actually decent as you can build a pretty good board with the new cards going first

You're staring at a full SHS board. Oh sure, let me just set a monster face down and pass turn, I will certainly survive through fricking Masurawo, a 3k Baronne, the train, Regulus, Savage or whatever else is running around. Wow your choice is to lose the game because they drew 15 cards or lose the game to lethal attack damage on turn 3 by not playing.
Dark Ruler can't instant win because it guarantees the opponent another turn, as does Evenly Matched - and running cards like that runs you the risk of drawing it against Runick or Lab or something. It absolutely is not just all blowouts, you can have some pretty decent back and forths against Branded, VS and other Bystial variants, or try to push through a Spright, Naturia or D Link board with an Imperm and some gas.
But Maxx C just turns it into a shitshow. Even if I win off a Maxx C it feels like I didn't even play the game. I manage to get through a board, draw Maxx C off a TTT or some shit and hit them with it on Turn 3 and instantly win.

I've been saying this for years: handtraps are a shitty patch. The real problem is that the game is too fricking fast and revolves around Turn 1/2 OTK.
I don't mind the idea of the handtraps but I think the generic ones are too strong, kind of a similar issue with the ED monsters. I actually like the idea of cards like Havnis and Air Lifter.
Actually, as annoying as Blossom is one card I think flies under the radar a bit is Impermanence.

Make an alternative format called "experimental" where devs just make tentative changes to the ruleset and see what players like and don't, then apply changes to it until it's playable and ship it out as the new master rule.

It does ACTUALLY make it worse. Any hope I had of combing over my opponent's combo when going second is immediately thrown out the window the moment they fire off a Maxx C on draw phase and it resolves.
Ban the roach, introduce a mulligan for the player going second.
If you're aiming to combo over the combo anyway then YOLO that shit. You probably would've lost if you couldn't without the roach anyways, and how many interruptions can he draw? I don't see how the situation is any less backfoot here, the issue is still losing the coinflip. I think the going second player has much worse to fear than the roach on a practical level.

I'd imagine a deck that looks at DRNM and actually wants to run it would be the kind of deck that autoloses to a shotgunned roach anyways. The card's a band-aid for going second when you can't actually go second.

It's 100% not. For example of you DRNM + Kaiju/Sphere Mode/Raigeki/Evenly them, and then go full combo to set up your own board full of negates. You skipped battle phase so couldn't kill them, but they have an empty board and like 2-3 cards in hand. Very hard to make a comeback.
Similarly true in an instance, where you didn't skip battle and played through the negates, and used the battle to wipe their board, but couldn't kill them. If they have like 3 cards left in hand or less, the duel is more or less even. If they drew 10+ cards off Maxx C. They won.
Same for the first example. You set up your own board of negates after skipping battle cause of DRNM, if they have 2-3 cards in hand next turn, it's gonna be very hard to come back.
If they drew 10+ cards, you're fricked.
You might just have to cut your combo short then if you want to deprive your opponent of resources for a comeback, especially if you opened a board breaking out.

If the roach resolves, you HAVE to kill them.
Roach is fine this format with SHS unable to play the outs. Just play a deck that doesn’t search much, or cheats by adding from GY, placing in S/T from deck, etc.

The Scareclaw cards are, you don't have to run Tear cards.
I think the worst part about Manadium is that a lot of the necessary UR are useless in basically any other deck. The fact that I needed the entire Scareclaw UR core put me off from ever building it.
I personally really like that from a lore perspective. It also makes Tear being getting hit and Scareclaw never being actually good sting less.
If I could play a more Tear centric Manadium I might be inclined to build it, especially since I have all of Kashtira as well. I have no idea what the Scareclaw stuff is supposed to do. Every time Manadium starts popping off and I basically just scoop.
Light Heart adds his field spell, which adds Reich Heart who then gets you a monster reborn+ a draw on top of a Level 4 body.

Embarrassingly bad board for that deck. That deck has a combo line into 3 spellcasters with a Secret Village, plus Galant Granite to search the Dyno floodgate rock monster, and lastly the Vailantz boss monster for a pop to ensure they can't kill anything off a normal summon.
Pretty sure the only thing that outs that board is evenly matched, and I'm certain they can put up an omninegste too.

Met someone playing her deck in plat and holy shit it's bad. They evenly matched me, then kaiju'd my last monster only to activate nemleria, banish some ED then summon a big guy and pass. He must have bricked right?
Nope. If they activated nemleria then they have the continuous spell up and they can stall until their next turn unless you banish or send their big monster to the GY
Nem is one of those decks that takes like 2 hours for people to figure out for some reason, even though it should be extremely simple. I guess that's what overdosing on "negate" does to your brain. People are physically incapable of understanding what a deck does unless it ends on Baronne.
You make a destruction-immune guy and search a trap. Then you survive until next turn when your e-girl wipes the board. It's very simple. And yet.

This is why Dragon Link is the most soulful deck with the most dedicated playerbase. If any other deck got cards like Eclipse Wyvern or Elpy banned all the people who play it would declare it dead and move on to the next flavor of the month, but Dragon GODS adapt and persevere.

Think Eldlich. You want to go first but you have a bunch of random effects that are only live going second, to give you board-breaking options.
Your ideal line is Sweet Dreams search Nem search Tower search Reveil and whatever, summon Reveil search Repeter or Louve if you already have Repeter. Opponent's turn Repeter is a DRNM, then on your turn it adds back Sweet Dreams, Tower again for the two dinguses, Reveille from GY, Sweet Dreams to get Realized and now they can't negate Dreaming or Realized, activate Oreiller and that's 15 banishes so Nemu is live and you win.
I'm watching a duel live, and a guy normal summoned albaz against an opponent who had a borreload savage dragon on board, which tried to negate albaz, but he was able to fusion alba lenatus anyway. What happened here?
