Doujin sleeves are common in Japan. You can buy them at card shops, and Akihabara has tons of specialized stores with 1000s of different doujin designs, from Fate, to Touhou, to straight up full on hentai.
Snake-Eye/Promethean Princess is effectively a Tier 0 engine since pure Snake-Eye and Fire Kings capitalize off of the same engine (R-Ace too but who cares about R-Ace). They don't play inconsequential parts in those decks either.
Nobody is denying the deck is broken as frick but one can still play it in a less dishonest way than "my based pet deck carried by meta cards while pretending to be something else".

If there is one thing Nugioh players don't understand, it's how to save resources. There is no reason to ever hold back in modern yugioh because games are so fast.

I think this format is not bad. The only issue is that a bunch of the good cards are locked behind crafting or legacy packs. I'm not gonna spend my craft points on a 3 day long event.

My main experience with YGO before MD was playing jank piles in the playground as a kid around 2001-2003 (so even before this boomer format) and most of the other kids seemed to agree Solemn Judgment was pretty good. On the other hand, I owned Giant Trunade and Heavy Storm and thought they were just "OK" cards. I liked cards that recycled themselves to the top of my deck like Sword of Deep Seated or messed with the opponent's like Parasite Paracide. I was also running shit like Waboku and Negate Attack, I think I stopped playing regularly before Sakuretsu Armor or Torrential Tribute released or became widespread.

5. 4000 LP is huge it can translate into 1-2 extra turn to topdeck something anyway
Life points matter way more when duels go for numerous turns and all it takes is a single 4 star beater to end your game. GOAT is way more swingy that Solemn isn't an absolute "this is busted" type card. It's a good card, but half you LP is pricy.
Solemn was always considered a good card, but it didn't really become 'busted' until the game hit that tipping point where preventing your opponent from doing things became more important than dealing with the things they did.
This tipping point came about as a result of more and more monsters having extension and protection effects.
In the earlier days, it was usually better to let your opponent play their cards THEN just Raigeki them on your own turn, rather than negate one summon or effect.
More monsters with protection effects meant dealing with those boss monsters AFTER they were on the board was no longer as good of an option and preventing the summon from ever happening became more important.

This event did a phenomenal job at exposing just how fricking awful modern Yu-Gi-Oh is. Holy shit. I didn't rage or get frustrated a single time. Taking loses in stride was easy. Dealing with sacky strategies is manageable, abd you never feel like you get blown out. Why couldn't maintain this same level of play but with more variety? This is perfect.
I hated that Leonidas was the top meta card and it was an SR.
There's no point in spending SR on him when I can't recoup the cost or even make gems.
I tried finding N/R counters to him, but I didn't have time to test them before the event ended.
Frick Rush Duel. Take this format. Make it official. And officially support it. Make new cards for it, but actually show restraint in card design. Release like a new set for it once a year. Basically, do what MtG does for Modern, but don't frick it up. No Syncro, no XYZ, no combo. Just good old classic Yu-Gi-Oh with back and forth.

Yes, and that's bad. The extra deck getting turned into a toolbox was a bad idea, and Syncro did that. You see how little the Fusion Deck matters in GOAT. That's a huge reason why it's so much more fun.
The biggest complaints people have about GOAT is that it's "stale" and there's little variety.
All you gotta do is print more cards that match but don't exceed the power level of the strongest stuff in the format. Hell, you could even incorporate archetype style design to pump up the weaker decks so there's more variety.
I see no reason why they can't have "classic" be a legit format. Where the only extra deck type is fusion and it's mostly useless. And by printing new sets exclusively for it, it allows them to monetize it too. It's also way fricking cheaper than having to design something like Rush, and benefits HARD from nostalgia baiting.
The actual gameplay is already very good. If it keeps people playing Yu-Gi-Oh, why not? Better than trying to force returning boomers to play the new overpowered modern format, or Rush. And because it's just "classic" you don't even need to worry about legality. Literally every card printed for it would be legal in the modern format, but they'd be so underpowered that no one would play them.
Hell, the best way to boot up this format is by making your first few sets, REPRINT sets of all the cards that will be legal in the format, with a [Speed Duels] type logo under the art to identify them. [Classic] like that.

Most people grow tired of GOAT and move onto other stuff like Edison or HAT because it gets stale, but the best part about GOAT is precicely how it plays. Even those stubbornly against new cards would eventually come around to enjoy the idea if the designers are careful in maintaining the spirit of the format, simply because it would introduce more variety and break the staleness of the format.
Problems with other formats like Edison and HAT is that they stop feeling like the Yu-Gi-Oh people are nostalgic for. The tempo and pacing of the game changes dramatically even as early as Edison because the Extra deck becomes more prominent.

My main experience with YGO before MD was playing jank piles in the playground as a kid around 2001-2003 (so even before this boomer format) and most of the other kids seemed to agree Solemn Judgment was pretty good. On the other hand, I owned Giant Trunade and Heavy Storm and thought they were just "OK" cards. Other kid judgments:

I liked cards that recycled themselves to the top of my deck like Sword of Deep Seated or messed with the opponent's like Parasite Paracide. I was also running shit like Waboku and Negate Attack, I think I stopped playing regularly before Sakuretsu Armor or Torrential Tribute released or became widespread.

2. spell is the balance tipping of the game at that time: raigeki, CoH, snatch steal, and magic drain is preferred counter trap against spell at that time (or magic jammer if you don't have it)
3. internet forum was not so prevalent
4. and not much people already know YGO from metal raider era + it was hard to find metal raider around my area (was looking for black skull dragon at that time)
5. 4000 LP is huge it can translate into 1-2 extra turn to topdeck something anyway

Life points matter way more when duels go for numerous turns and all it takes is a single 4 star beater to end your game. GOAT is way more swingy that Solemn isn't an absolute "this is busted" type card. It's a good card, but half you LP is pricy.

People underestimated Solemn for sure, but it's by no means "busted".
Solemn was always considered a good card, but it didn't really become 'busted' until the game hit that tipping point where preventing your opponent from doing things became more important than dealing with the things they did.
This tipping point came about as a result of more and more monsters having extension and protection effects.
In the earlier days, it was usually better to let your opponent play their cards THEN just Raigeki them on your own turn, rather than negate one summon or effect.
More monsters with protection effects meant dealing with those boss monsters AFTER they were on the board was no longer as good of an option and preventing the summon from ever happening became more important.
There was no tipping point. People were just moronic. People play Judgment in all Goat lists im tournaments nowadays.

This event did a phenomenal job at exposing just how fricking awful modern Yu-Gi-Oh is. Holy shit. I didn't rage or get frustrated a single time. Taking loses in stride was easy. Dealing with sacky strategies is manageable, abd you never feel like you get blown out. Why couldn't maintain this same level of play but with more variety? This is perfect.

The 2024 life point one was amazing. It was so cool to see it's own little meta develop as people kept finding all the hidden gem anti-burn cards.
I hated that Leonidas was the top meta card and it was an SR.
There's no point in spending SR on him when I can't recoup the cost or even make gems.
I tried finding N/R counters to him, but I didn't have time to test them before the event ended.

Frick Rush Duel. Take this format. Make it official. And officially support it. Make new cards for it, but actually show restraint in card design. Release like a new set for it once a year. Basically, do what MtG does for Modern, but don't frick it up. No Syncro, no XYZ, no combo. Just good old classic Yu-Gi-Oh with back and forth.

The biggest complaints people have about GOAT is that it's "stale" and there's little variety.
All you gotta do is print more cards that match but don't exceed the power level of the strongest stuff in the format. Hell, you could even incorporate archetype style design to pump up the weaker decks so there's more variety.
I see no reason why they can't have "classic" be a legit format. Where the only extra deck type is fusion and it's mostly useless. And by printing new sets exclusively for it, it allows them to monetize it too. It's also way fricking cheaper than having to design something like Rush, and benefits HARD from nostalgia baiting.
The actual gameplay is already very good. If it keeps people playing Yu-Gi-Oh, why not? Better than trying to force returning boomers to play the new overpowered modern format, or Rush. And because it's just "classic" you don't even need to worry about legality. Literally every card printed for it would be legal in the modern format, but they'd be so underpowered that no one would play them.
Hell, the best way to boot up this format is by making your first few sets, REPRINT sets of all the cards that will be legal in the format, with a [Speed Duels] type logo under the art to identify them. [Classic] like that.

Most people grow tired of GOAT and move onto other stuff like Edison or HAT because it gets stale, but the best part about GOAT is precicely how it plays. Even those stubbornly against new cards would eventually come around to enjoy the idea if the designers are careful in maintaining the spirit of the format, simply because it would introduce more variety and break the staleness of the format.
Problems with other formats like Edison and HAT is that they stop feeling like the Yu-Gi-Oh people are nostalgic for. The tempo and pacing of the game changes dramatically even as early as Edison because the Extra deck becomes more prominent.
