Sixth Street is the main hub, it's a urban area with random chinese letters here and there. This district is also where Random Play (the player's VHS shop) and the other stores revealed in those dripfeed marketing posts are located.
Brant Street is a construction site based on that gamescom trailer, and the other revealed areas (Street Exit and Ballet Twins Road) also have urban-themed designs. So I guess we are safe from the fantasy chinawank for now.

Yes, they can talk and both of them exist in the game (unlike Star Rail's protagonists or Genshin's eternally long-lost sibling). They also revealed some bits of their personalities (Wise is the calm and collected one and he likes drama and emotional movies, Belle is the happy-go-lucky one and she prefers fast-paced movies).

I don't know if this will be different in later quests or in companion sidequests (or if they will rewrite the whole thing for CBT2), but in CBT1 the sibling you don't pick will become your sort-of Paimon while your MC of choice won't say much during cutscenes.. A non-issue if you are from Alabama (and I assume the average Themis enjoyer as well), but I can see the Kiara enthusiasts being disappointed with this format. NPCs never ignore (you) in dialogues, at least.

I don't disagree, but not all of them are like that. Most of the time they will say similar or pretty much identical lines (usually in straight-forward dialogues with NPCs in voiced cutscenes) since it's still the same story. Most of the time you will only see unique dialogue lines when they interacting with each other (like the previous pic and this one).
That said, I haven't checked every single cutscene, side-quest and optional NPC interaction, just some moments from the CBT's main storyline.

We get it, MiHoYo, the CCP wants you to make China look good but holy shit I'm so fricking tired of 'X China' being a thing in every one of their games. This is something we already knew long ago. Just by playing the first beta it was obvious this game was gonna be different in terms of visual style and setting. It still doesn't save it from CCP regulations though, we'll still get some form of the same chink wank present in genshin/star rail one way or another, just coated with an urban-themed setting which makes it more tolerable in my opinion.

The reason people can play MH or Elden Ring or any single player RPG is because they allow you to play the whole game however you want, gachas need to entice you to roll for the characters/weapons or else be walled from "challenging" content.

I don't know why the thread keeps spamming "last beta was dogshit" when I've heard that they've added tons of stuff into it and people were happy, like the counters.
Honestly, perfect dodges/counters sound already more fun than Genshin's. I haven't played HI3 though so I can't compare, all I can say is that HI3 looks like a clusterfrick of effects with no substance
HI3 is loop-based. It's more involved than genshin's extremely simple system, but in the end nothing different. Just that specific ways of looping are time sensitive (qte swaps triggering based on conditions like "time slow", which some abilities like perfect dodges can trigger, and only being available for x seconds) and the swapping also has quite a CD. In other words, if you frick up, you get punished. Also creating a good loop is technically harder. Nothing stopping you from looking some up though.
This looping is important to do, due to supports being relevant and rather heavily increasing your damage (again, unlike genshin). So you wanna loop through 2 supports in an efficient way to your main DPS who then benefits from the buffs and/or debuffs.
Extremely simple example: Fischl can use her weapon attack to trigger her own qte, which in turn triggers time-slow (possibly enabling other qte of party members), and offers 40% lightning vulnerability on hit enemies for 15secs (time-slow slows this, or depending on what exactly does it may even completely pause these timers). Equipment can also further buff this. One of her sig stigma adds 20% on weapon hit, so you get a total of 60%.
She also gets SP from doing so, and if you have enough you can fire a quick ult, which persists even if you swap her away, and amps ally lightning damage dealt by up to 55% for 18secs .
I do not expect anything different for ZZZ. We'll likely get another loop based battle system, and shit like perfect dodges and counters are just there. They exist in HI3, but in an ideal battle, you never stop attacking.

In Monster Hunter, you see speedruns and the hunter is just there taking shits on the monster and never stops attacking.
The gameplay for 99% of the players is much different however, they have to put some effort into evading attacks or they just get destroyed if they try to deal more damage. It's also the same for speedrunners, as you only get to see the perfect run and not the one where the monster used the "evade this or die" attack.
This "loop" thing you described seems what it will be though, the article mentions how you forcefully swap to a precise character and not one you want, so basically you have to craft the perfect team order to, I dunno, let one character weaken the boss first to let the bursty nutty super carry deal max damage.
It's not a bad thing but I hope that counters and dodges are important. You can freely move around and dodge away from deadly attacks, but I think that to get fast clears you have to counter and dodge, since it also comes with extra attacks. So yeah, if you play perfectly you'll probably attack no stop.

Yeah, it's basically that. Everyone's attacks will charge the bar but only one character will use it when the bar is full (so you can't swap-ult-swap-ult-swap-ult).
Ex skills are charged special skills but every character has their own special bar and they have to charge it on their own (character A's attacks won't fill up character B's special bar). Apparently there are no "cooldowns" (time-based) so you are free to use the uncharged special attacks.
Perfect assists seems to be another party-wide bar like Ultimates, but you can save up to three charges instead of just one. You can charge it with chain attacks, and you get those by hitting enemies with "heavy" attacks (special/EX skills, perfect dodge attacks).
The rotation of combos and quick-swapping characters for more combos until you detonate an ultimate seems to be pretty fun.

The majority of people don't have any issue with the few changes that have been made in ZZZ. If it bothers you that much, I don't see how modding ISN'T a solutionv- Genshin has a myriad of decensor mods like the ones that remove the climbing up skirt transparency or the swimming water ripple, or ones that make outfits a lot more revealing compared to their original designs. All they need to nail is boss encounters. People here mentioned how HI3 is just button smashing, never played the game but I imagine it's baby mode.
In that interview, they also say they want to create a combat system that allows them to make fun bosses. We'll see.
Boss actually aggro'd certain characters who had to do a mechanic to avoid the laser (stand on spot wow so hard.) Other players had to go to specific spots to disable stuff kinda like the fire/water crystals in signora, and then you all walloped for DPS.
It was super cool and showed what coop could be.

What you mentioned is true on Genshin too and will be true on ZZZ too I guess.
Bosses frequently do have invulnerability/damage resistant phases where you have to play their 15s long minigames (destroy x objects, dodge y projectiles, inflict z ailments, e.t.c) but outside of the gimmicks, not really.
You can blame the backloaded effects on that, no one wants to be staggered mid combo so the game has way way too many short lasting invulnerabilities for the player when doing shit.
HI3 actually has a good gameplay mechanic and a genuine attempt at bringing ARPG to mobile and gacha. It was really a pioneer that a to of gacha wouldn't be the same without it, from Punishing Gray Raven to that Devil May Cry gacha game (lol). Hell, DMC has copied a lot of Hi3's mechanics that it might as well be a Honkai Impact reskin

I think the races revealed so far are humans, robots/cyborgs, bears, dogs, and animal-ears people. I've seen both male and female NPCs for almost all of these races (bears being the exception, no pics of females but I'm sure they exist). There is also Soukaku, but I didn't find any pics of oni NPCs.
I don't know if a giant fish using a dead cat as a helmet will become playable, but I think the sheep girl is a possibility.

Not surprising that energy regen and energy regen rate sound like some of the most important stats besides Crit Rate/DMG. if PEN works like any other defense ignore mechanic in genshin/star rail then that's probably the best stat of the game. (and likely the rarest stat like SPD in star rail)
Impact and Attribute mastery sound like the bricked stats that will plague most of your gear farming, as if flat ATK/DEF/HP wasn't enough

Maybe she will get a rework in CBT2 since Wind isn't a thing anymore, but if they decide to keep her this way then I assume specialized characters will perform better than hybrid ones.
There are other cases of character with different fighting styles, but they are unique and minor cases. Anton, for example, can deal a bit of strike and slash, but the core of his moveset (explosive stance and piledriver attacks) are pierce attacks, and Corin can deal a bit of strike with one of her attacks, but she the rest of her kit is slash damage.
Also, there is a game mode where you start with a single character and have to find others along the way. I don't know how it works exactly (I think the randomly-found characters are pre-built/guests based on some gameplay videos), maybe hybrids will shine in places like this.
Every dungeon works like a "roguelike mode" of sorts.
Some stuff is similar to SU: >pick one out of three buffs >read a mini-story and make a few choices (with rewards/penalties, but it's straight-forward stuff like "you found a scavenger selling mystery drugs") >room where you need to kill enemies (sometimes you have to follow a set of rules/gimmicks, like a timer or having to protect certain objects/areas in the combat arena) >shop room, buy things with dungeon currency >HP recovery rooms >you can use map/exploration skills >spooky boss at the end
Some stuff is different: >top-down grid-based map system, each space in the grid (represented by TV screens) is a room that may be empty, have some event or a combat encounter in them >exploring non-emtpy rooms will accumulate corruption points ("pressure") .This corruption will eventually level up and create up to five permanent debuffs (they can affect your combat performance, like energy drain, or your dungeon exploration, like money drain) >some rooms and events can reduce pressure as well, sometimes it's free, sometimes you have to pay for it >some rooms have an UNKNOWN tag, which means they can have anything, including empty rooms (you still accumulate pressure even if you find nothing) >the map isn't always fully visible in dungeons, some rooms will only be revealed if you approach them or find a "search event" room (a bit like search skill checks in roguelikes) >some specific maps have a few gimmicks, like switches to open doors, portals teleporting you around or or big areas where you have to either chase and kill enemies to progress or avoid enemies and run straight to the exit (works like a roguelike: you and moving enemies take turns at the same time)
I expect the actual equivalent to SU will be a bit more straight-forward than all of that, but it would be neat to get a new whole dungeon to explore after every reset.

This is how every dungeon works in the game. Easier dungeons don't have everything mentioned in the "mechanisms" and "threat" topics, and docile/golden bangboos are also uncommon, but everything else (corruption, resonia, resources, hollow raider encounters, etc) is standard stuff.

I have never meet a gacha that does 'roguelikes' good, the gamechanging parts are replaced with lots of just damage multipliers and reducers, and skill check have to get replaced with a dps check with some type of timer, plus that you have to still do it after you have beaten the harder floor makes it get too stale for its time consume.
Also I don't know how important this is, or if it has a timer, maybe you can get to the final floor with barely any upgrades, or maybe the gameplay makes for it... I didn't want to get spoiler that much last cbt but ig this time I will have to since this is the only shit in the game that I'm doubtfull

For the others that are in the beta how are you enjoying the combat/exploration?
I'm finding the combat okay with the characters I've gotten so far, feels like you will want a ranged character in general but man the exploration is already starting to get to me.
I had kinda low expectations and didn't even know much at all about the game but I'm actually kinda digging it honestly. I knew the combat wouldn't be really deep, it's decent for what it is and what I expect from it (quick 20-30 min session once a day or so). The animations are nice and punchy, satisfying even though it's mashy and pretty shallow. Having a ranged agent does seem nice, but one thing I found was having a character that closes gaps fast feels really good.. Anton and Nekomata worked well for that. I had no idea about the HDD exploration stuff before playing and I actually kinda like it, just quick little puzzles between packs of mobs. Ratio of combat to exploration definitely feels like it needs improvements early on but it sounds like it's not nearly as bad later on from what I've read, also that the combat difficulty goes up quite a bit in the ""rogue-lite"" mode. I'm kinda a sucker for things like how cozy the hub is and the worldbuilding type stuff like with the commercials on the log-in screen and stuff.
Went from just signing up for the beta for shits and giggles to see what Ben's game is about to planning on actually playing it casually when it comes out. Not enough to pay anything for it though.
I'd say I'm leaning towards enjoying it more than I'm not. I've finished the current story as far as I can tell so just slowly unlocking stuff.
I agree with the combat, my comment on the ranged character was mostly to avoid triple hit combos from bosses fully depleting your character swap counter, though I did find you can swap characters without consuming them and let long animations like Ben's normal 3rd hit fully play out.
I've had absolute shit luck on the gacha so far and haven't landed even a single s rank so I've only been playing with just the A ranks so far.

Funny enough I had enough to do a 10 roll on the normal banner and got a srank there.
I'm going to compare her against Anton as they both are mode shifters, key thing to note on 11 vs Ant is the former gets stacks for her mode shift through burst and the swap action while Ant only gets it from his burst and that chews down slowly.
Overall it looks like a 10%~ increase in base stats and about the sameish for skill%s?

Brain rot I guess? I've played varying gachas for like ten years now and I am currently actively playing two (AK/HSR) and I get fun in the collecting and the weird puzzle aspect or putting teams together for stuff. Also lets me "safely" gamble.

It boils down to what kind of poison you like. Live-service games with microtransactions are inherently awful but they also have something to "bait" players into spending time and money on them. For gacha in particular, it's the pretty anime characters. And to be mihoyo-specific, their gacha games are the best-looking ones currently in the market.
Having finished Chapter 1, I like the exploration a lot, but I like Sokoban-type games. I do wish there were less lengthy delays on advancing dialog, though.
Praying modders can fix this mess eventually. It's not just that there's censorship, but the designs are just fricking worse now.

Only other hope is Mihoyo keeps the uncensored stuff in global and doesn't frick it up for future content but that's pretty unlikely to happen.

Doubt it. Star rail didn't have a selector like this and the equalizing test shows a whatever amount of rolls on the standard to get a S rank just like star rail.

Yeah if you've played Star Rail or Genshin (seems like you haven't) whenever you roll a dupe of a 4 star or higher character or weapon you earn shop currency to buy dupes of 4 star characters or weapons or a 5 star weapon for all the Standard Banner characters (Von Lycaon, Nekomata, Koleda, Grace, Soldier 11, Rina). Obviously you would rather use this currency to buy extra pulls when buying a limited character, but if you're truly dead set on maxxing out Ben you can max him out like this (do note you can only buy 1 copy of a 4 star character in the shop per month).
Just something to keep in mind for official launch!

I really wouldn't recommend getting too hung up over fully maxing a character in a gacha especially if you don't want to drop money on it.

Yes, assuming you have shit luck and only do ten rolls that give you 1 A rank and 9 B ranks you can buy a single A rank every 100 rolls.
That does mean you may not be buying the discounted gacha rolls with the same currency or the upgrade material that both reset every month.
This is also a single copy of whatever two A ranks they pick that if we assume goes by how they are doing in Star Rail hasn't seen a repeat character yet and also only changes stock every two months.

The dupe system for Homoverse's games is the worst in the industry and nobody likes it but you also don't have to mald over fully unlocking a character's kit to clear all the endgame. Other gacha are way more generous but you're obligated to gamble and roll dupes or else you're filtered from hard content or you're stuck with worse farming efficiency than the whales.

Yeah and powering them up is a mandatory requirement for faster/better farming (like NP looping and better stage drops in FGO.) or if you want to clear high-level content (Blue Archive). Sure, genshit introduced the israeliteest model by far but other gacha aren't any better when they unironically lock you out of content if you aren't constantly rolling duplicates.
Maybe there's a non-israeli gacha game out there where the endgame can be cleared at 0 copies? Definitely not every "non-ccp" gacha.

Here's what Solder 11's dupes unlock in the order of unlocks.
Looking through all the characters I have it does feel like dupes are on average quite a bit better than in star rail, and even star rail has a character I feel isn't worth investing in if you don't have 7 copies (Yukong)

I agree that the dupes in ZZZ are bad, Anby having a entire buff state locked behind her final dupe is terrible and even star rail has characters like Yukong that if I'm being mean are frankly useless unless you have them fully maxed.
I've seen even in arknights some of the high end stuff requiring dupes. Not like that stuff gets you rewards but even something like a no pot Bagpipe to a pot 5 Bagpipe will cause a change in how you play the game.

I've dropped both BA and FGO but from my own experience i never need to roll the gacha for the sole purpose of dupe. In BA I managed to always get rank 1-10 on my PVP bracket everyday and Platinum'd every raid while being f2p and only used the "scarce premium currency" to earn dupe. In FGO i managed to clear all the content while being a massive lucklet f2p with only NP1 on 99% of my few SSR. I also have more than 100 unused gold apple when i quit because there's no point to farm that hard when there's no PvP (dunno about now).

There is and that's called raising your servants, which is the whole point of FGO, endless farming for the sake of raising your PNGs and you want to be efficient about it (which is why NP-looping is meta, which also requires servants beyond NP1.)

Yeah but my whole point is about clearing said difficult content (Insane and the brand new Torment difficulty.) Yes, it's optional, but you can't ace it without multiple dupe-enhanced teams geared specifically for those raids.

Definitely good point though. Not only does the ultimate get more powerful and have a cool combo animation with Ben, even the final hit of her normal attack combo does too. Not sure exactly how much stronger they are.
Coincidentally I just pulled Koleda like an hour ago. When I played her in the story I didn't like the movement she had with some of her attacks, felt like I was whiffing sometimes. I'll give her a better look to see if that feels worth it, might be at least be good to pull her out for tougher hollow zero runs.

I'm kinda soso on it? The combat can be fun but too often it's just hella easy or you get dumped with oddly annoying bosses like the invisible teleporting one.
A lot of the game so far definitely is kinda stupidly easy but that's why I'm not worried about optimizing a team as much as including Koleda when I'm not a fan of her or her moveset etc (though those team-up attacks are really cool and flavorful). It's a casual as hell beat-em-up, I'm not looking to sweat or rack my brain over a mobile gacha game (not trying to assume or imply that of you or what you're saying just describing my expectations of the game). I felt by the time I was in chapter 3 the difficulty was getting closer to appropriate, same for further into hollow zero. Obviously it doesn't compare to the depth or replayability of DMC/Bayonetta but it still scratches the arcadey action combat itch for me, which is nice since I've had nothing to fill that void since Sega dumpstered PSO2. The art direction, atmosphere, animations etc definitely help a ton.. the game looks and feels great. Even if I try to set aside furhomosexualry I love that the character designs aren't going to be so formulaic and boring with a hundred flavors of 130lb generic anime girl/boy, it feels like they're allowing themselves big design space for a really interesting and varied roster especially accounting for potential team synergies and stuff.
Kinda just stoned and thinking aloud after finishing up the main story content in the test, sorry for blogposting in a reply.
Oh yeah and sorry to double post but one thing I kinda feel like mentioning is the tv board hollow gameplay... it seems fairly unpopular with a lot of people and I can definitely understand why, but I actually like the sorts of puzzles they've made with it personally so that probably adds to me having a warmer impression than some. Hollow zero does have a much better ratio of tv:game and rally commissions leave it out completely as far as I know/remember, but I enjoy solving the puzzles in main and side commissions.
Koleda needs Ben and not the other way around. With Ben she's on par with Solder 11, without she's weaker.
I generally get where you are coming from when it comes to optimization and whatnot, but I haven't seen this games version of the abyss/mirror etc to see how much it really wants very strong teams.

Oh yeah absolutely, a lot of the dialogue and stuff inside (and out) of the hollows takes a loooong time to display and clear too. And God forbid an event tile or something like that is in a path you'll take multiple times, or you need to use a reset button within a puzzle, feels like minutes of your time wasted. There's also a ton of repeated dialogue and instruction in the hollows, like you'll have an NPC describe something to you, then you get to a tile and the Fairy or the game will describe the same damn thing to you, maybe in slightly different words. I don't mind taking extra time to hear dialogue and stuff (once) but really hope they speed a lot of this up.

Sixth Street is the main hub, it's a urban area with random chinese letters here and there. This district is also where Random Play (the player's VHS shop) and the other stores revealed in those dripfeed marketing posts are located.
Brant Street is a construction site based on that gamescom trailer, and the other revealed areas (Street Exit and Ballet Twins Road) also have urban-themed designs. So I guess we are safe from the fantasy chinawank for now.

Yes, they can talk and both of them exist in the game (unlike Star Rail's protagonists or Genshin's eternally long-lost sibling). They also revealed some bits of their personalities (Wise is the calm and collected one and he likes drama and emotional movies, Belle is the happy-go-lucky one and she prefers fast-paced movies).
That said,
I don't know if this will be different in later quests or in companion sidequests (or if they will rewrite the whole thing for CBT2), but in CBT1 the sibling you don't pick will become your sort-of Paimon while your MC of choice won't say much during cutscenes.. A non-issue if you are from Alabama (and I assume the average Themis enjoyer as well), but I can see the Kiara enthusiasts being disappointed with this format. NPCs never ignore (you) in dialogues, at least.

The differences aren't that drastic since it's still the same story with the same reactions from the gacha characters and NPCs (at least in the main story), but they aren't copy-pasta twins and will say slightly different things according to their personalities.

I don't disagree, but not all of them are like that. Most of the time they will say similar or pretty much identical lines (usually in straight-forward dialogues with NPCs in voiced cutscenes) since it's still the same story. Most of the time you will only see unique dialogue lines when they interacting with each other (like the previous pic and this one).
That said, I haven't checked every single cutscene, side-quest and optional NPC interaction, just some moments from the CBT's main storyline.
that's the most unique thing about zzz since the other hoyo games are just selecting between one of the two and the other isnt seen for the most part
while here, they both are the protags at once, doesnt matter who you choose since both will have equal screentime and interactions

This is something we already knew long ago. Just by playing the first beta it was obvious this game was gonna be different in terms of visual style and setting. It still doesn't save it from CCP regulations though, we'll still get some form of the same chink wank present in genshin/star rail one way or another, just coated with an urban-themed setting which makes it more tolerable in my opinion.

Honestly, perfect dodges/counters sound already more fun than Genshin's. I haven't played HI3 though so I can't compare, all I can say is that HI3 looks like a clusterfrick of effects with no substance
HI3 is loop-based. It's more involved than genshin's extremely simple system, but in the end nothing different. Just that specific ways of looping are time sensitive (qte swaps triggering based on conditions like "time slow", which some abilities like perfect dodges can trigger, and only being available for x seconds) and the swapping also has quite a CD. In other words, if you frick up, you get punished. Also creating a good loop is technically harder. Nothing stopping you from looking some up though.
This looping is important to do, due to supports being relevant and rather heavily increasing your damage (again, unlike genshin). So you wanna loop through 2 supports in an efficient way to your main DPS who then benefits from the buffs and/or debuffs.
Extremely simple example: Fischl can use her weapon attack to trigger her own qte, which in turn triggers time-slow (possibly enabling other qte of party members), and offers 40% lightning vulnerability on hit enemies for 15secs (time-slow slows this, or depending on what exactly does it may even completely pause these timers). Equipment can also further buff this. One of her sig stigma adds 20% on weapon hit, so you get a total of 60%.
She also gets SP from doing so, and if you have enough you can fire a quick ult, which persists even if you swap her away, and amps ally lightning damage dealt by up to 55% for 18secs .
I do not expect anything different for ZZZ. We'll likely get another loop based battle system, and shit like perfect dodges and counters are just there. They exist in HI3, but in an ideal battle, you never stop attacking.

In Monster Hunter, you see speedruns and the hunter is just there taking shits on the monster and never stops attacking.
The gameplay for 99% of the players is much different however, they have to put some effort into evading attacks or they just get destroyed if they try to deal more damage. It's also the same for speedrunners, as you only get to see the perfect run and not the one where the monster used the "evade this or die" attack.
This "loop" thing you described seems what it will be though, the article mentions how you forcefully swap to a precise character and not one you want, so basically you have to craft the perfect team order to, I dunno, let one character weaken the boss first to let the bursty nutty super carry deal max damage.
It's not a bad thing but I hope that counters and dodges are important. You can freely move around and dodge away from deadly attacks, but I think that to get fast clears you have to counter and dodge, since it also comes with extra attacks. So yeah, if you play perfectly you'll probably attack no stop.

Yeah, it's basically that. Everyone's attacks will charge the bar but only one character will use it when the bar is full (so you can't swap-ult-swap-ult-swap-ult).
Ex skills are charged special skills but every character has their own special bar and they have to charge it on their own (character A's attacks won't fill up character B's special bar). Apparently there are no "cooldowns" (time-based) so you are free to use the uncharged special attacks.
Perfect assists seems to be another party-wide bar like Ultimates, but you can save up to three charges instead of just one. You can charge it with chain attacks, and you get those by hitting enemies with "heavy" attacks (special/EX skills, perfect dodge attacks).
The rotation of combos and quick-swapping characters for more combos until you detonate an ultimate seems to be pretty fun.
Yeah, and considering there are dodges to do it could also lead to interesting boss design.

Genshin also has this problem though to a far lesser extent, it's most prominent on Eula where you need to follow Bennet's burst with Eula's burst since the combined burst animation + 7s will cause her burst to explode outside of Bennet's buff.
ZZZ will likely suffer the same problem unless they decide to make buffs long lasting/permanent to let you focus on move sets and enemy reactivity instead of cramming as much damage during the buffed periods.

What you mentioned is true on Genshin too and will be true on ZZZ too I guess.
Bosses frequently do have invulnerability/damage resistant phases where you have to play their 15s long minigames (destroy x objects, dodge y projectiles, inflict z ailments, e.t.c) but outside of the gimmicks, not really.
You can blame the backloaded effects on that, no one wants to be staggered mid combo so the game has way way too many short lasting invulnerabilities for the player when doing shit.
HI3 actually has a good gameplay mechanic and a genuine attempt at bringing ARPG to mobile and gacha. It was really a pioneer that a to of gacha wouldn't be the same without it, from Punishing Gray Raven to that Devil May Cry gacha game (lol). Hell, DMC has copied a lot of Hi3's mechanics that it might as well be a Honkai Impact reskin

I think the races revealed so far are humans, robots/cyborgs, bears, dogs, and animal-ears people. I've seen both male and female NPCs for almost all of these races (bears being the exception, no pics of females but I'm sure they exist). There is also Soukaku, but I didn't find any pics of oni NPCs.
I don't know if a giant fish using a dead cat as a helmet will become playable, but I think the sheep girl is a possibility.

Depending on how it works (if they didn't change the CBT1's stagger mechanic), I can see the meta meme being about making teams with a single element and two or three different fighting styles.

Soukaku's element in CBT1 was Wind, but I guess they replaced it with Ether.

Maybe she will get a rework in CBT2 since Wind isn't a thing anymore, but if they decide to keep her this way then I assume specialized characters will perform better than hybrid ones.
There are other cases of character with different fighting styles, but they are unique and minor cases. Anton, for example, can deal a bit of strike and slash, but the core of his moveset (explosive stance and piledriver attacks) are pierce attacks, and Corin can deal a bit of strike with one of her attacks, but she the rest of her kit is slash damage.
Also, there is a game mode where you start with a single character and have to find others along the way. I don't know how it works exactly (I think the randomly-found characters are pre-built/guests based on some gameplay videos), maybe hybrids will shine in places like this.
I wonder how different will the roguelike mode be compared to HSR's Simulated Universe.
Every dungeon works like a "roguelike mode" of sorts.
Some stuff is similar to SU:
>pick one out of three buffs
>read a mini-story and make a few choices (with rewards/penalties, but it's straight-forward stuff like "you found a scavenger selling mystery drugs")
>room where you need to kill enemies (sometimes you have to follow a set of rules/gimmicks, like a timer or having to protect certain objects/areas in the combat arena)
>shop room, buy things with dungeon currency
>HP recovery rooms
>you can use map/exploration skills
>spooky boss at the end
Some stuff is different:
>top-down grid-based map system, each space in the grid (represented by TV screens) is a room that may be empty, have some event or a combat encounter in them
>exploring non-emtpy rooms will accumulate corruption points ("pressure") .This corruption will eventually level up and create up to five permanent debuffs (they can affect your combat performance, like energy drain, or your dungeon exploration, like money drain)
>some rooms and events can reduce pressure as well, sometimes it's free, sometimes you have to pay for it
>some rooms have an UNKNOWN tag, which means they can have anything, including empty rooms (you still accumulate pressure even if you find nothing)
>the map isn't always fully visible in dungeons, some rooms will only be revealed if you approach them or find a "search event" room (a bit like search skill checks in roguelikes)
>some specific maps have a few gimmicks, like switches to open doors, portals teleporting you around or or big areas where you have to either chase and kill enemies to progress or avoid enemies and run straight to the exit (works like a roguelike: you and moving enemies take turns at the same time)
I expect the actual equivalent to SU will be a bit more straight-forward than all of that, but it would be neat to get a new whole dungeon to explore after every reset.

If they're going to take more ideas from HI3, then DoTs will be there more as an interaction than an actual damage source, i.e. bosses/enemies losing abilities or taking extra damage when inflicted with a specific DoT.

This is how every dungeon works in the game. Easier dungeons don't have everything mentioned in the "mechanisms" and "threat" topics, and docile/golden bangboos are also uncommon, but everything else (corruption, resonia, resources, hollow raider encounters, etc) is standard stuff.

I have never meet a gacha that does 'roguelikes' good, the gamechanging parts are replaced with lots of just damage multipliers and reducers, and skill check have to get replaced with a dps check with some type of timer, plus that you have to still do it after you have beaten the harder floor makes it get too stale for its time consume.
Also I don't know how important this is, or if it has a timer, maybe you can get to the final floor with barely any upgrades, or maybe the gameplay makes for it... I didn't want to get spoiler that much last cbt but ig this time I will have to since this is the only shit in the game that I'm doubtfull

For the others that are in the beta how are you enjoying the combat/exploration?
I'm finding the combat okay with the characters I've gotten so far, feels like you will want a ranged character in general but man the exploration is already starting to get to me.
I had kinda low expectations and didn't even know much at all about the game but I'm actually kinda digging it honestly. I knew the combat wouldn't be really deep, it's decent for what it is and what I expect from it (quick 20-30 min session once a day or so). The animations are nice and punchy, satisfying even though it's mashy and pretty shallow. Having a ranged agent does seem nice, but one thing I found was having a character that closes gaps fast feels really good.. Anton and Nekomata worked well for that. I had no idea about the HDD exploration stuff before playing and I actually kinda like it, just quick little puzzles between packs of mobs. Ratio of combat to exploration definitely feels like it needs improvements early on but it sounds like it's not nearly as bad later on from what I've read, also that the combat difficulty goes up quite a bit in the ""rogue-lite"" mode. I'm kinda a sucker for things like how cozy the hub is and the worldbuilding type stuff like with the commercials on the log-in screen and stuff.
Went from just signing up for the beta for shits and giggles to see what Ben's game is about to planning on actually playing it casually when it comes out. Not enough to pay anything for it though.
I'd say I'm leaning towards enjoying it more than I'm not. I've finished the current story as far as I can tell so just slowly unlocking stuff.
I agree with the combat, my comment on the ranged character was mostly to avoid triple hit combos from bosses fully depleting your character swap counter, though I did find you can swap characters without consuming them and let long animations like Ben's normal 3rd hit fully play out.

Funny enough I had enough to do a 10 roll on the normal banner and got a srank there.
I'm going to compare her against Anton as they both are mode shifters, key thing to note on 11 vs Ant is the former gets stacks for her mode shift through burst and the swap action while Ant only gets it from his burst and that chews down slowly.
Overall it looks like a 10%~ increase in base stats and about the sameish for skill%s?

It boils down to what kind of poison you like. Live-service games with microtransactions are inherently awful but they also have something to "bait" players into spending time and money on them. For gacha in particular, it's the pretty anime characters. And to be mihoyo-specific, their gacha games are the best-looking ones currently in the market.
Having finished Chapter 1, I like the exploration a lot, but I like Sokoban-type games. I do wish there were less lengthy delays on advancing dialog, though.

The A/B/C/D/E/F slots on a characters Skills page require that agent's Profile item from the gacha banners (or in the beta from those selector bundles).
Core Skills (the tape deck part to the right of the A-F things on the Skills page) are upgraded with Dennies but gated by character level.
Active Skills are upgraded with materials you can buy at the 141 convenience store.

Yeah if you've played Star Rail or Genshin (seems like you haven't) whenever you roll a dupe of a 4 star or higher character or weapon you earn shop currency to buy dupes of 4 star characters or weapons or a 5 star weapon for all the Standard Banner characters (Von Lycaon, Nekomata, Koleda, Grace, Soldier 11, Rina). Obviously you would rather use this currency to buy extra pulls when buying a limited character, but if you're truly dead set on maxxing out Ben you can max him out like this (do note you can only buy 1 copy of a 4 star character in the shop per month).
Just something to keep in mind for official launch!
I really wouldn't recommend getting too hung up over fully maxing a character in a gacha especially if you don't want to drop money on it.
Yes, assuming you have shit luck and only do ten rolls that give you 1 A rank and 9 B ranks you can buy a single A rank every 100 rolls.
That does mean you may not be buying the discounted gacha rolls with the same currency or the upgrade material that both reset every month.
This is also a single copy of whatever two A ranks they pick that if we assume goes by how they are doing in Star Rail hasn't seen a repeat character yet and also only changes stock every two months.

The dupe system for Homoverse's games is the worst in the industry and nobody likes it but you also don't have to mald over fully unlocking a character's kit to clear all the endgame. Other gacha are way more generous but you're obligated to gamble and roll dupes or else you're filtered from hard content or you're stuck with worse farming efficiency than the whales.

Looking through all the characters I have it does feel like dupes are on average quite a bit better than in star rail, and even star rail has a character I feel isn't worth investing in if you don't have 7 copies (Yukong)

I agree that the dupes in ZZZ are bad, Anby having a entire buff state locked behind her final dupe is terrible and even star rail has characters like Yukong that if I'm being mean are frankly useless unless you have them fully maxed.
I've seen even in arknights some of the high end stuff requiring dupes. Not like that stuff gets you rewards but even something like a no pot Bagpipe to a pot 5 Bagpipe will cause a change in how you play the game.

Yeah and powering them up is a mandatory requirement for faster/better farming (like NP looping and better stage drops in FGO.) or if you want to clear high-level content (Blue Archive). Sure, genshit introduced the israeliteest model by far but other gacha aren't any better when they unironically lock you out of content if you aren't constantly rolling duplicates.
Maybe there's a non-israeli gacha game out there where the endgame can be cleared at 0 copies? Definitely not every "non-ccp" gacha.

Yeah, through a scarce premium currency that's only reliably obtained by pulling the gacha constantly. (You're also malding over RNG drops from most farming resources which makes raising characters painfully slow)

For people who want to be efficient and make the most out of events like lotteries? Yes. That was my experience in FGO with NP looping being meta and all that (at least that was the case when I played, maybe things changed now idk).
Hoyohomosexual doesn't have these issues and you can clear all content at 0 dupes until EoS but in exchange their gacha system is the worst ever. (which again, nobody likes, it's just dumb to see newbies get shocked that they ""must"" roll dupes here when the entire gacha genre is known to be this awful before Genshin came around.)

I've dropped both BA and FGO but from my own experience i never need to roll the gacha for the sole purpose of dupe. In BA I managed to always get rank 1-10 on my PVP bracket everyday and Platinum'd every raid while being f2p and only used the "scarce premium currency" to earn dupe. In FGO i managed to clear all the content while being a massive lucklet f2p with only NP1 on 99% of my few SSR. I also have more than 100 unused gold apple when i quit because there's no point to farm that hard when there's no PvP (dunno about now).

There is and that's called raising your servants, which is the whole point of FGO, endless farming for the sake of raising your PNGs and you want to be efficient about it (which is why NP-looping is meta, which also requires servants beyond NP1.)

Yeah but my whole point is about clearing said difficult content (Insane and the brand new Torment difficulty.) Yes, it's optional, but you can't ace it without multiple dupe-enhanced teams geared specifically for those raids.

Also true, which is why I said how you have to take a long while to strengthen your account as a f2p until you can tackle insane and torment. It's OBVIOUS that early f2p players become gods after a year of playing, I'm one myself.

Rolling for your waifu is never a careless move though, (or anniversary banners where drop rates are doubled). And again, all the eleph you get from that go straight to "dupe enhancing"

You need efficiency if you like to raise servants regardless of content though, a lot of players just like upgrading them for the sake of it. I understand if it makes no sense to you though.

Definitely good point though. Not only does the ultimate get more powerful and have a cool combo animation with Ben, even the final hit of her normal attack combo does too. Not sure exactly how much stronger they are.
Coincidentally I just pulled Koleda like an hour ago. When I played her in the story I didn't like the movement she had with some of her attacks, felt like I was whiffing sometimes. I'll give her a better look to see if that feels worth it, might be at least be good to pull her out for tougher hollow zero runs.

I've seen some stuff whiff but not too badly. Her skill is ultra short range and dumps her backwards which is a touch awkward, but Ben is slow as balls so I don't think it's too bad.

I'm kinda soso on it? The combat can be fun but too often it's just hella easy or you get dumped with oddly annoying bosses like the invisible teleporting one.
A lot of the game so far definitely is kinda stupidly easy but that's why I'm not worried about optimizing a team as much as including Koleda when I'm not a fan of her or her moveset etc (though those team-up attacks are really cool and flavorful). It's a casual as hell beat-em-up, I'm not looking to sweat or rack my brain over a mobile gacha game (not trying to assume or imply that of you or what you're saying just describing my expectations of the game). I felt by the time I was in chapter 3 the difficulty was getting closer to appropriate, same for further into hollow zero. Obviously it doesn't compare to the depth or replayability of DMC/Bayonetta but it still scratches the arcadey action combat itch for me, which is nice since I've had nothing to fill that void since Sega dumpstered PSO2. The art direction, atmosphere, animations etc definitely help a ton.. the game looks and feels great. Even if I try to set aside furhomosexualry I love that the character designs aren't going to be so formulaic and boring with a hundred flavors of 130lb generic anime girl/boy, it feels like they're allowing themselves big design space for a really interesting and varied roster especially accounting for potential team synergies and stuff.
Kinda just stoned and thinking aloud after finishing up the main story content in the test, sorry for blogposting in a reply.
Oh yeah and sorry to double post but one thing I kinda feel like mentioning is the tv board hollow gameplay... it seems fairly unpopular with a lot of people and I can definitely understand why, but I actually like the sorts of puzzles they've made with it personally so that probably adds to me having a warmer impression than some. Hollow zero does have a much better ratio of tv:game and rally commissions leave it out completely as far as I know/remember, but I enjoy solving the puzzles in main and side commissions.
Koleda needs Ben and not the other way around. With Ben she's on par with Solder 11, without she's weaker.
I generally get where you are coming from when it comes to optimization and whatnot, but I haven't seen this games version of the abyss/mirror etc to see how much it really wants very strong teams.
I also feel you on PSO2 being fricked. Loved the game, wanted to love ngs and it just doesn't hit the spot the base games advanced classes did.

Yeah I'm one of them. It's not even the puzzles it's just how fricking slow it all is, step on a even square and it's going to take 5+ seconds for the event animation plus the event itself to play out. It's bad enough imo that even simulated universe in star rail feels faster.

Oh yeah absolutely, a lot of the dialogue and stuff inside (and out) of the hollows takes a loooong time to display and clear too. And God forbid an event tile or something like that is in a path you'll take multiple times, or you need to use a reset button within a puzzle, feels like minutes of your time wasted. There's also a ton of repeated dialogue and instruction in the hollows, like you'll have an NPC describe something to you, then you get to a tile and the Fairy or the game will describe the same damn thing to you, maybe in slightly different words. I don't mind taking extra time to hear dialogue and stuff (once) but really hope they speed a lot of this up.

Understandable desire. He's pretty good in my experience so far, good daze damage and having another parry is rather nice.
