Maybe some Gunbound ?
>or in development
As far as I know, everyone is interested in Ashes of Creation. But it probably won’t come out for another 2 years or so.
>Ashes of Creation
oh good another fricking scammo that promises the entire world and will deliver on none of it
when will people learn
>oh good another fricking scammo
If they are scamming, they are doing a terrible job, considering that they have said plenty of times that the game is already fully funded to completion.
It's not a scam but it does look completely unimpressive, what I've seen so far looks like a mix of guild wars 2 + warhammer online.
>but it does look completely unimpressive
They're doing what WoW did back in the day. They're looking at systems from other MMOs that all work very well and then throw them all together into one game. It's nothing insane or revolutionary, but when it's all combined, it's going to be a great game. Assuming that they don't end up having to cut a bunch of things, of course.
It can borrow as many systems as it wants but if it doesn’t feel as good to play as WoW does it’s not worth it.
>already fully funded to completion.
>*sells you 300dollar preorder packages*
If people are willing to throw money at them, why would they not accept it?
>fully funded to completion
And yet they're selling new exclusive "preorder packs" EVERY MONTH
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Pre-order_pack_history
The game has been in development forever with almost no progess. It's still missing the most basic features like a class system, but the devs are hard at work churning out cosmetic cash shop bullshit EVERY MONTH
This is literally Star Citizen 2
>And yet they're selling new exclusive "preorder packs" EVERY MONTH
Why would they not take the money when moronic fanbois are willing to throw free money at them?
>The game has been in development forever with almost no progess
This is just objectively false. They started development in December 2015, and their progress has been really good for what they have achieved so far.
>It's still missing the most basic features like a class system
The class system is extremely easy for them to make, hence why they aren't focusing too much on it. They want to nail the other foundations and backend systems of the game. 90% of the class system can be written down in a notepad and be implemented in like 2 months.
>This is literally Star Citizen 2
It's far from Star Citizen. The fact that you are even comparing it to Star Citizen just shows that you are incapable of having an actual honest discussion.
>They started development in December 2015, and their progress has been really good for what they have achieved so far.
6 and a half years should be more than enough time to release a fully functioning game. The current game still looks like a tech demo. They've repeatedly pushed back planned milestones, and there's no sign of a release or even beta test in sight. It could easily be 10+ years of development before the game is "released".
>90% of the class system can be written down in a notepad and be implemented in like 2 months.
A class system will take a long time to tweak and balance properly. Without it, the game doesn't even have proper gameplay. You can't design things like enemies or boss encounters without a functioning class system. The fact that they're still using what appear to be 4 placeholder classes shows that the game is still in the early stages of development.
>They want to nail the other foundations and backend systems of the game.
They wasted god knows how much time on "seasonal tech" when they don't even have core gameplay functions yet. Up until that announcement, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were just slow/stalled on development. But it's become clear that they're intentionally avoiding finishing and releasing the game in order to milk more money out of idiots.
>It's far from Star Citizen.
It's exactly the same. Keep promising more and more, showing of new "features" while constantly selling new ingame assets for real money, all for a game that isn't even out yet and has no planned release date. It's a scam. Maybe the devs didn't start out intending for it to be one, but that's what it's become now.
Even if the game does eventually come out after 10+ years of development, everything we've seen so far just makes it look like ESO. Another forgettable, and particularly soulless MMO.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about, no offense. I've played MMOs since 1999, been in like 100 different alphas and betas, including internal testing ones that required signed NDAs, and AoC is making good progress and looks like it has potential to be good. They have fricked up a couple of times, especially with the BR, but they are quick at correcting course when they actually do frick up.
It's worse than Star citizen, ateasy you can play star citizen right now if you wanted to.
Ashes won't have a functioning world for another 2 years minimum.
>Ashes won't have a functioning world for another 2 years minimum.
Go ahead and watch their latest livestream. They literally just tripled the size of their world because they are ahead in development. It will all be available in the upcoming alpha 2. Why are so many morons on Ganker so extremely against AoC? Is it just because it's looking to be the next big MMO coming out?
Okay so I won't be able to hop in and play the way I could if I backed star citizen until years from now right? Because they don't even have enough content to make a constantly open alpha right?
>Okay so I won't be able to hop in and play the way I could if I backed star citizen until years from now right? Because they don't even have enough content to make a constantly open alpha right?
Wrong again. Alpha 2 is named as "persistent alpha".
Which comes out fricking when???
In a few months.
>They literally just tripled the size of their world because they are ahead in development.
They're years behind their original plan. They don't even have a functioning game yet, or one that even paid backers can play. And instead of working toward that goal, they claim they went and did something completely unnecessary "because they're so far ahead on development".
>It will all be available in the upcoming alpha 2.
>"""""upcoming""""""
Alpha 2 was originally scheduled for 2019. Over 3 years later we still don't have a date for it yet. Might not even happen in 2022 at this rate. This is the story of this game's development.
shill
Please explain this
What is there to explain? The game is fully funded, but people still want to throw money at them. Do you want the devs to decline free money from moronic fanbois? If so, why?
I am a non paid shill for ashes. Ask me anything you want and I will unironically give you legit answers. What's your problem with them selling FOMO cosmetics?
it's scummy shit to be selling cosmetics for a game that isn't even out yet
How is it scummy? making a game is not free, they need money to pay for the employees. You want all the npcs to be voice acted? that shit cost money. Next question.
>it's okay because money!
based braindead shill
I understand that you are a child or you were terminally online and are depended on others to survive, but if you were in the real world then you would know that without money you cannot create anything in business. They need money and there is nothing wrong with wanting money. Grow up.
>If they are scamming, they are doing a terrible job, considering that they have said plenty of times that the game is already fully funded to completion.
Could you have made anymore of a copy pasted answer?
>It's funded because Steven said so
>Source: trust me bro
I'll expain it. Do you like this gay shit? I assume not. Me? I don't. morons who love parting with their money though? There you go. Scummy sure, but enough people had to buy that horse armor dlc first before devs knew they could increasingly get away with more and more because idiots will buy anything. Players were at fault for how games are now long before devs.
Even if its a scam, what's the worst that can happen? wait 1-3 days after release to read the reviews? We will know if ashes is trash just by watching asmon play it day 1. It has potential and its the only good MMO in development.

never ever touch chink "mmo"s
I never do, but I hear they can be good for a month.
Ashes is never coming out.
More like ZERO worthwhile MMOs EVER
This. The only thing they ever had going for them was that playing on the internet was new and exciting once upon a time
Ashes of Creation
Riot's MMO
Funcom's Dune MMO
Throne and Liberty(Lineage 2 successor)
Palia
Corepunk
BitCraft
Blizzard's survival game(might be MMO-lite)
>Trusting Funcom
Stop it anon
They have the potential to make good MMOs. Anarchy Online was very good. Age of Conan was great up until the endgame which was buggy as frick because they rushed the game out. The Secret World had an amazing world, setting, quests, story, etc. but it was ruined by the piss poor combat. Conan Exiles was also okay as a Rust-lite game and showed that they have the right idea about survival, but failed the execution.
If they actually pull their shit together and learn from their previous games, and avoid those mistakes again, then they could make something pretty good. I also assume that they won't be able to frick around with the Dune IP by cutting corners, so that's another plus.
Age of Conan was amazing, but unfortunately the market for MMOs at the time had already begun its transition into meta-heavy, theme park PVE content and that wasn’t what the game was about. If AOC had launched in 2005-2007 it would have outshined WOW after Burning Crusade completely ruined that game by doing away with immersion, adventure and fun and replacing it with autistic sweat festival and alt-tab simulator.
none of them are worth it because the honeymoon phase of them is long gone, you realise they are all the same in what they attempt to achieve and there is no sense of discovery and achievement in this copy and pasted structure of story telling and "endgame content"
>you realise they are all the same
They could be different.
how?
If you know, you know.
Lmao what's with all these bait threads where op claims there's no good mmos and try so hard to act like FFXIV isn't the best game ever made
All fields
FFXIV isn’t an MMO, and if any of its expansion “story content” were marketed for what it is: A single player game with online components, everyone here would be laughing at it. The story is stupid and nonsensical and keeps people away from actually playing the multiplayer content. It’s just like Destiny or any other gay false MMO out there.
OG chad here, I actually like the story and have been playing the game on and off since ARR times.
How? I had to quit for two years after slogging through the pre-Heavensward story content for what seemed like an eternity. It’s alright as an MMO, but like he said if they tried to sell any of those ex packs stories as full single player titles it would be memed into oblivion
Well, I did like ARR content back then, I wouldn't do it again though since I already did it once but I think it's nice to sit back, chill and do some low level adventures once in a while. It reminded me of vanilla wow and just questing and exploring the world, I also did not know what the MSQ was back then so I was just doing every quest I was seeing and reading every piece of dialog, good times.
Any game designed to be played forever is garbage. Simple as.
only interested in pantheon but it will be probably shit like most modern mmo, sad!
Toram Online. Nuff said.
Is New Worlds okay? I want an MMO with lots of crafting.
>Toram Online.
>Smartphone game
lmao no
>he doesn't know
LMAO
LOL
LOSER
no thanks, you can keep it
Any MMOs that are fun to play casually?
Planetside 2 is pretty fun for casually dropping in and out of. It's an FPS MMO though, so might not be what you're looking for.
>Riot MMO
Yeah, the one that isn't even guaranteed to release
You're stupid if you think the Riot MMO isn't gonna release. They have like 3000 employees, endless money and endless time. They have no deadlines that they have to adhere to. In addition to that, they have also pierced into other genres, so it's only natural for them to try to take over the MMO genre now.
>or in development
Patheon or bust. Outside of that— no hope.
>buh Ashes of Creation!!
Literally everything shown about it is just gimmicks.
If you believe in Pantheon, but not Ashes of Creation, you must be fricking mental. AoC has made 100x better and 100x more progress in 2 years than Pantheon has made in 8 years.
Just wait for Everlook
when's it coming out?
There are wow private servers with ability based theory crafting like ascension, When is someone going to make a custom server that favors custom item based theorycrafting? It would bring so much new life to the game
There has never been a good MMORPG and there never will be. The sooner you accept this the happier you will be.
Every new MMORPG will suck.
They will all try to reinvent the wheel with combat, turning it into gimmicky clunky garbage.
They will all try to sell as much MTX as possible making the game a glorified ad for skins etc.
They will use the same old recipes for "participation metrics" to keep you playing(tl;dr grinding instead of content).
They will all have ugly stylized graphics with WoW-tier art where everything glows or has spikes etc for no fricking reason.
They will all try to accomodate casuls by making easy content for them, which will drain the amount of players willing to do hard content and eventually it will have to cater to a playerbase of lazy casuls that hate challenges.
They will have to poz their game and add LGBT and non-whites everywhere because ESG.
They will all be declared "dead" 6 months after release as the playerbase shrinks and they add free to play options to trick more morons into buying mtx.
It's a dead genre, or undead at best. The only people that still play this formulaic garbage are barely alive themselves.
MMORPG's need something new.
Dont care, didnt read. Not looking at the coomer shit either.
>will all try to sell as much MTX
I'm curious: What game has released these days that hasn't sold any mtx? I don't know of any.
>I'm curious: What game has released these days that hasn't sold any mtx? I don't know of any.
The sad truth is that other than some of my indieshit, i can't think of any.
It's disgusting how far gamers standards have fallen. People i know that used to complain about paid skins etc are now bragging to me about buying skins in LoL.
Fricking gay.
>indieshit
There was a youtube channel called "Indie Patron" that covered a bunch of indieshit games. I am so fricking pissed I didn't download his channel because the fricking c**t took it all down.
Elden Ring.
Cursed genre
>But muh ashes!
Every single bit of this game is a gimmick that won't hold up once the tryhards and meta sweats get ahold of it. 64 classes? Only 2 will be "meta". Caravan escorts? Open world pvp has always, and will always be a numbers game. Especially since this is a braindead tab target MMO
>GW2!
braindead easy
>ESO!
See above
>WoW!
Pay to win token purchasing simulator
>FF14?!?!
For actual morons
>Insert gimmick full loot pvp mmo here
Nobody likes these games except gankers and goons.
>New WOrld tho
Waste of good tech, terrible combat and terrible pvp
Shit genre
>New World
the combat wasnt horrible in the idea, its the execution and how stuff worked with latency that really ruined it
>WoW pay2win
cosmetics dont give stats, but the pet battles could be considered pay2win
A genre replaced by conventional multiplayer games, and games like GTA Online and Rust. I hate to say it, but people developing MMOs are braindead.
New World combat / pvp is the best in the genre now, server issues have been fixed even for war plus the balance is much better. New World fricking rules.
I wish I could believe you but shills have been going strong here.
Dead game no one cares.
EVE Online could be amazing if they did a progress wipe.
It would be dead. The only people still playing are bittervets with 20 accounts. If you wiped the server they'd finally be free.
They'd have to make EVE 2, but that seems unlikely at this point.
If they actually comitted to a sequel i'd get in on it.
It wouldn't make any difference. Eve isn't a power race.like most other mmo's. It's a horizontal sandbox, which is why it's good and has stood the test of time.
>that period in time where a new korean mmorpg would release every single week
I miss that lads...
I still play Mabinogi every so often
OSRS is still pretty fun in my opinion, I go back every few months and there's always something to do.
Wrath Classic might be fun for a month or two, the biggest problem with WoW Classic is that the server populations are so volatile because fricking Blizzard has a new controversy every few months and everyone quits or the factions become extremely imbalanced or something. I've had to restart on a new server like 4 times whenever I get the WoW itch for that reason.
FFXIV is just boring unfortunately and even after a few hundred hours I still have 2 expansions to slog through. There's lots of good stuff about the game but it's really hard for new people to catch up and stay interested in hundreds of hours of obsolete content.
As for upcoming MMOs, I'm still holding out hope for Tera 2. There was that GeForce leak that pinned the release window in Q4 2023, but other than that, nothing suggests that a Tera sequel is even in development. Tera was a decently successful game for a decade too with a really promising start (that quickly fell off) so I feel like they wouldn't just let the IP die.
I'm still holding out for Sword Art Online.
I'd play the shit out of SAO. Even if it was just a PC game.
Everyone who claims otherwise is a Meleelet
Play Dragon Quest X.
RIFT was a really good WoW clone but they trashed it by going f2p and filling the game with microtransactions and pay2win bullshit
MMO REDPILL
You simply can't make good MMOs anymore because the way the internet works now is completely different from the early 2000s. Back then, the internet was decentralized and composed of small communities. They would form naturally all around the internet in forums and it was possible to get to know people. It worked the same for MMOs, there just wasn't that much information on them online, and the information that did exist was fractured everywhere. Players would go into games completely blind. They would figure shit out by themselves, talk and make friends along the way, and being immersed in the world was a genuine experience.
Fast forward to 2022 and internet culture is completely different and completely centralized. Streamers control and command armies of thousands of little kids and form their opinions for them, and even get early access to stuff. They all play games as a job so they will blast through all the content by playing 12 hours a day and expose all of it, taking away any and all mystery. If that's not enough, guides on shit popup immediately everywhere including youtube. Everything is solved super quickly and unless the game has an insane grind that keeps these opinion forming power players busy, they will just move on.
This means that MMOs can't really form communities anymore, and creating a worthwhile world is basically irrelevant because nobody will care about it, it's all about the endgame grind. Developers cater to this and produce the fricking abominations we see today.
>internet works now is completely different from the early 2000s
The internet now is meta-ironized. Culture gap
I think it's theoretically possible to make a "good" MMO, but it's not very profitable to do so.
Big name MMOs all follow simple templates now. All important content is instanced, leveling is just a time sync before you get to the "real" content at endgame, and then everything you do is timegated so it feels like a literal job. It's easy to make a game like this and make a quick buck if you can hype it up enough, so that's what developers do.
Making a good MMO that breaks this mold would require a lot more work. You'd have to find a way to make balanced open world content (which can't just be zerged) instead of just instancing everything. You'd have to find a way to make content accessible to players before "endgame" so leveling isn't just a timegate. And you'd have to find a way to keep the game interesting without arbitrary timegates in general.
While I think all this is possible, it's certainly not easy. In particular, making good open world content will require MMO tech to advance in ways it hasn't for 15+ years. We'd need real dynamic worlds instead of just the same enemies/quests happening in the same places all the time. Most devs just dont' want to put in that kind of effort.
Personally I've just been jumping between old MMOs on private servers and such. Most recently, I joined some friends playing Neverwinter Nights EE on a persistent RP server called Arelith. It's got tons of custom content tot he point that it's effectively a fanmade MMO.
Hear me out:
An open world with mobs and events that change every six hours, based on the time of day. How feasible would this be?
Sounds obnoxious. Timelocking with extra steps is still timelocking.
>different weather in the same zones
>different enmies and a changing world
i still dont understand why games dont do the whole
>night>day circle
>snow/rain/sunny/cloudy/storm/whatever else
affecting more than having a shitty effect in the air
>i still dont understand why games dont do the whole ... day/night cycle etc
literally everquest back in 2000s had zombies/skeletons come out at night with actual lore reasons behind it, certain quests were timed to certain times of day, etc
the reason you don't see shit like that anymore is because passion was replaced by corporate checkmarks
feels like we stopped progressing in 2002 , about everything, just going backwards on everything but graphics, and graphics stagnate around 2008
The Wall St shareholders that got into the industry and really pushed it into eclipsing film and television had and have zero interest in the topic, unfortunately. They’ll turn a guys basement with a couple computers into a multi-billion publisher in 10 years but nothing they sign on nor develop themselves will ever be worth playing unless you are a lobotomised apeman
Honestly going into public ownership is the worst business decision any company can make.
Absolutely, If you genuinely care for your business/industry and aren’t just looking to sell it later on it’s the stupidest decision you could possibly make. You aren’t the boss anymore, you’re just senior management at that rate and they couldn’t care less about your virtual interpretation of Paradise Lost when Monkeys shuving banana peels up their anus is the current meta. You’re either going to lose everything for nothing or put on your best AmazingAthiest impression to get by.
It's more that shareholders have zero reason to care about a company's long term prospects and every reason to squeeze it dry in the short term before selling and moving on. You're basically inviting a bunch of people who don't care about your company living beyond a few years to make business decisions for you. Like holy shit.
They are doing all of that in Ashes of Creation.
nice, hope the gameplay is good and isn't another lobby to do 20 players content
It's not. They are actually creating an MMO with the aim of every server feeling alive. Something like 80% of the PvE isn't even instanced. Here's a great video that sums up all the systems, and there's timestamps for everything.
it's like i'm reading New World shill posts all over again lol
you people just exist in cycles, same shit every 2-3 years
No, it's actually a good game now, dunning Kruger moron
> Something like 80% of the PvE isn't even instanced.
its that supposed to be bad?
No, it's a good thing. It means that it's an actual MMO and not a lobby simulator. If you know some rival guild is doing a raid, you can go frick with them because it's actually taking place in the world.
that was one of my favorite things about wow during vanilla
fricking the enemy raids of azureus or kazzak , sadly raiding cities wasn't that common
sure, just like you could in New World right?
except they're going to make PVP opt-in, because they always do. wake the frick up, every single thing you're trying to promote has been done before and walked back all the same by so many other games because it just doesn't work out, some fat homosexual in a suit at the top of the chain kills the entire project because PVP doesn't have mass appeal
>some fat homosexual in a suit at the top of the chain kills the entire project because PVP doesn't have mass appeal
The guy in charge of Ashes of Creation is a poopsocking PvP player himself who played a dozen MMOs. The only reason he's creating AoC is out of spite for how his old games were raped and died.
i respect your optimism but there's been a dozen other games with nearly identical videos to this
I always thought the world responding to player actions in more subtle ways would be cool. Like if you had a wave of new players show up and start slaughtering the local rabbit population as part of a mindless XP grind, the local wolves would die out and the greenery would flourish. Kill off hundreds of grunts working under the local thieves guild and another gang shows up to take their place.
Everquest Next was going to be like that until it turned out to be a gigantic scam.
WoW is the only good MMO, people just don't want to admit it.
>look at old vanilla wow promotional images
Jesus fricking christ the sheer level of soul sucking that this game has endured.
I wonder how people can even get themselves to play it
sunken cost morons who don't want to lose their collection of paid pets/mounts/dress-up costumes
You should see this, when devs actually cared.
FFXIV just dropped the new raid tier.
Great another 4 fights where you move out of aoes and then stack or spread while doing the most boring tab target rotations available in the genre
I'm so erect
Has anyone played bless unleashed?
I’m looking for an action mmo with traditional dungeon gameplay. If you have any recommendations I’ll consider them.
After the success of Elden ring, I want a souls like mmo. I want decent action gameplay, not that "press 4 and then press 3" shit like WoW, and I want an actual world to explore that's fun.
Why can't MMO's do this?
Go try out New World and you'll see why Dark Souls-like combat isn't entertaining in an MMO.
Fair enough. I guess I basically want a single play exploration game like Elden Ring, but with 3k other people to enjoy it with--which isn't really possible.
Combat seems like it's the best out of any MMO, but everything else about it seems to suck so I've avoided it
Then play Vindictus, but in my opinion, BDO is pretty good and there is so much to do to in the game as well. Not sure what is actually wrong with the game to care because I just play the game.
The combat is fun as frick you tab target shitter
Black desert maybe?
Although I’d compare it more to a musou
What the frick is wrong with Ashes shills ? Are you guys alright ? How the frick do you justify those insane cosmetic packs for a game that does not exist yet ? If it was really funded to completion as you say the company (assuming they're moral and really trying to do what their saying) should immediately stop sales for that shit to stop people calling them a scam. Otherwise it's just going to look like a fricking scam, how the frick do you spend 6 years in development and (as they claim) hire a team of hundreds of people but you don't even have a game out yet, no systems in place besides the theoretical level and show a fricking map that you can make in 5 hours in UE5 editor and claim that's insane progress. You fricking AoC shills are making my sides fly off to orbit lmao
>If it was really funded to completion as you say the company (assuming they're moral and really trying to do what their saying) should immediately stop sales for that shit to stop people calling them a scam
You are asking a company to stop free income. Why the frick would they do that? The cosmetics they are selling are part of the in-game world anyway. They make some NPCs/bosses/whatever and then sell the armor that they have, so it's not like they are wasting any development time or effort. They're just getting free money from fanbois who toss it at them.
What the flying frick. Is this what an AoC cultist is like ? Are you that fricking homosexual from youtube that's constantly on copium ?
No, I haven't paid a cent to AoC. I'm just someone who is able to use rational and logical thinking, instead of becoming a raging moron because they are making money. Do you genuinely want them to just close the doors and get less money for absolutely no reason, other than to satisfy your personal beliefs?
i don't understand why you'd use cosmetics as your argument against ashes when it has at least a dozen other glaring issues like the floaty combat plagued with 'danger zones' like every other game it's trying to be competitor against
completely aimed at the low hanging fruit instead of trying to address things that actually matter. horse armor isn't going to make or break the game as much as the backbone of actual gameplay
>horse armor isn't going to make or break the game as much as the backbone of actual gameplay
What gameplay ? kek
that's my point, yes
completely missing the mark by whinging about fricking cosmetics when the game itself is barely a shell to anything beyond overbudgeted graphics
>AoC cultist
Butthurt xivtroon trying to project all of his failings onto others
Talk with me when the Ashes comes out.
Anyone bragging about Ashes of Creation clearly did not play Apocalypse lmao
What was wrong with Ashes of creation: apocalypse? Thought streamers loved it
>Thought streamers loved it
you put your faith in the word of a man paid to say he enjoys something
i'm not sure how to tell you how stupid you are in a way that you would understand
Okay so tell me what was wrong with it moron
nice goalpost movement billy
you are a fricking dunce who falls for paid shill mouthpieces and i have no interest in discussing anything beyond how absolutely dumb you are
You wanna be a pure healer, like some kinda promiscuous bottom?
PROMISCUOUS GIRL WHEREVER YOU ARE
IM ALL ALONE AND ITS YOU THAT I WANT
Yeah I'm not promiscuous though. I'm loyal.
play everquest you dingbat
>i-it's too slow and old UWU
the modern MMO market was designed around impatient morons who need everything handed to them
return to your roots
Do games with small playerbases count? If not - then you're frick outta luck, homosexual, because the only way for a multiplayer game to not be niche is to oander to normalgays, therefore being a shit game.
This goes for all of you whining mmoshitters that turn your nose at any private server suggestions because muh no 10 gorillion players simultaneously.
The age of the MMO is over not just because modern gamedevs are incapable of making one but because MMOs as a community have irreparably changed.
>obsession over being meta and optimal in any facet of the game preventing any creativity and discouraging devs from putting any thought into it as well
>addons are viewed as mandatory and you are expected to have them by the playerbase, especially if you want to pursue higher level content and there is nothing you can do about it
>socialization is viewed as an inconvenience and in some cases (FFXIV) just an excuse to report someone
>everyone by default assumes every random player is a rude butthole which causes them to act like a rude butthole and this perpetuates itself
>since this is the bulk of the playerbase, the gamedevs are forced to cater to them, making the game more and more automated and optimized so people have to interact less and less
Frick MMOs. Their era is over. It ended a long time ago.
>comfy healing
just play medic in tf2, although it might not be comfy sometimes
>I just wanna go back to comfy healing
me too, but its over. gone. accept it.
lost world looks interesting but i haven't watched or learned much of it
AoC fanboys are insane. I bet they would complain about the Riot MMO having a cash shop yet they pay $375 for founder packs for a game that isnt even guaranteed to ship.
Warhammer return of reckoning
>every MMO has a "main story" with a cast of characters i'm expected to care about instead of the focus being about YOUR generic adventurer and their adventure
>usually also a chosen one which i am sick to death of
>also all side quests give 1 XP so there is no reason to do anything except the main story at all ever
>combat is almost always braindead tab target combat with barely any variation between classes now that things like buffs, debuffs, resistances, auras, passives, etc. don't matter any more, just muh rotations muh rotations muh rotations
>if it's not that it's either some weird janky action shit that doesn't work or a mixture of the two
>gear has no actual special properties it's just numbers you equip to make your numbers go up, no unique abilities or other variations to consider just numbers numbers numbers
>as the game gets more simplified and straightforward so does the playerbase's mentality, everyone is obsessed over only doing everything the "one right way" now because that's how the game is designed
>sandbox MMOs completely dead or on some shitty private server with 10 people on max
It's time to let go.
you will literally never be happy with any new MMO that comes out. you do realize this, right? the well has been poisoned and nothing will ever scratch the itch for you.
It’s easier to make a half arsed unity flip with 10-12 player lobbies marketed as an MMO than to make an actual MMO. There’s no talent in the industry, the reason why gaming was as imaginative and successful as it was to begin with was because suits took over the publishers and either forced out anyone who cared about passion projects or bought them outright. The guys who have been running the gaming industry since at least 2009 have zero interest in anything to do with their field besides the publicly traded graphs they hold on Wallstreet, because that’s where they come from.

He said mmo
XIV is a MMO
>not massive
>not multiplayer
>most of it could be played offline
not an mmo
Holy shit Martin Luther, please have a nice day.
seethe
why do xiv players ALWAYS bring up wow whenever you say something even remotely negative about their game
Cause FFXIV is a wow clone, they go hand in hand.
>why do xiv players ALWAYS bring up wow
dunno i don't play XIV or wow anymore
there isn't a raid for 50 players? more mmo than fricking wow with troony mode for 20 players
There is, which also happens to be the most sweaty in-game content that nobody besides the discord circlejerks do cause your average players sucks dick at the game, sigh, that it could be...but we just gotta have trannies.
What the frick happened to the action MMO subgenre? You had stuff like Vindictus, TERA, Dragon Nest, Black Desert being released constantly from the 2010-2015 period, and now there's fricking nothing.
I mean New World tried it as well and shit the bed.
Wizard101 but stop playing after Arc 1. Everything after Dragonspyre is shit.
MMOs are an old format gramps
Thanks to how they teach development at school now, all new developers come out ready to work with only market-approved, consumer unfriendly practices in mind. They have no idea after 4 years of learning the wrong thing what makes a good game.
Old developers are older men but you mustn't forget they were the virgins and losers of their era, and have a mentality of placating femoids. So they have adopted feminism and go to their twitters to virture signal for pussy. So they won't make good games anymore either.
If Riot's MMO, made by souless chinks to satisfy the lowest common denominator ends up being a click to attack with a dodge roll action mmo with 2-3 abilities and a 12 option talent tree, it will suck unimaginable dick and die.
IF it comes out as a more classical tab targeter, holy trinity style mmo it might actually be pretty good. You'll at least know it'll be easy to digest.
>dodge
>3 abilities
>HURR THIS TOTALLY TAKES MORE SKILL THAN YOUR TAB TARGET 30 ABILITY GAME
Action MMO gays are the fricking worst.
>unreal engine for a MMO
Damn you Black folk are moronic
UE5 looks like it can handle MMOs pretty well with the nanite and LoD tech. There have also been plenty of MMOs on the Unreal Engine like Blade & Soul, Elyon, Lost Ark, Mortal Online 2, Bless Online, TERA, Lineage 2, etc.
>There have also been plenty of MMOs on the Unreal Engine like Blade & Soul, Elyon, Lost Ark, Mortal Online 2, Bless Online, TERA, Lineage 2, etc.
I'm still seething that those asiatics developers always manage to create a good looking game but with absolutely 0 soul and more greedy than fricking EA, Bungie and Activision combined, fml
>or in development
Not that you'd know, but I feel like this betrays the fact that you've just lost love for the genre and are tired of it. Because there's MMOs out right now of every flavour.
I just want another world to get lost in. IRL is extremely gay
I feel you bro, IRL is gay and full of homosexuals. It's 2022 and we have no good online worlds to spend our time on ;_;
I wish we had a fricking Fallout MMO without Bethesda's garbage humor in 3 and 76
I wouldn't even mind a reskin of ESO, shit would have a lot of potential
But instead we got the garbage that is 76
Most of the fun of Bethesda games is the modding, so why would you even want that
Solo MMO players rise up, I wish it was as easy to get a Tibia server up and running
>Solo MMO
Truly the saddest of creatures
based repack enjoyer
cringe solo player
those stances seem contradictory
exactly
Reminder. You hate MMOs. You will never like MMOs again. MMOs are not made for you. This is like if I spent the last 20 years crying that sports games suck now. Move on.
Modern MMOs killed the sense of community by adding queues. Instead of traveling around and interacting with the people you see on your own server you just ask in the hub city and queue up for shit you run with ransoms across multiple servers whom you will never see again.
They took out the ‘massively multiplayer’ part and just made a matchmaking game with a fancier lobby.
True, I remember the dungeon finder did not work on the private WOTLK server I was playing on way back. The most soulful moments I experienced in gaming related to PVPing with the hordes outside ICC while our raid was gathering and then our GM threatening to kick everyone out of the guild if we don't move our ass inside, then the same guy having a full-on nerdrage when some guys walked in with res sickness, 10/10 all these moments, lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die.
Design like this was always inevitable. Every multiplayer genre is doing queues now. You either match them or zoomers won't play your game.
If someone moneyballed a true to form autistic MMO that requires strong community skills and tests your ability to navigate the world to experience the content, it'd be just as dead as FF11.
I agree. That’s why there are no good MMOs anymore and there likely won’t be one for quite some time if ever.
I'm happy with darrowshire.
WoW is king, don't @ me

The Wrath Classic prepatch is today.
>ZERO worthwhile MMOs currently released or in development
Or at all. Ever.
I hold out hope one day Last Oasis will be good, but god damn is it in its worst state right now...
