ComfyKINO sandbox
Maybe its just not for you, OP
Not every single game needs to catter to you
play cdda
play bright nights instead
Shill me on it.
it was forked from cdda before kevin and his troons went batshit insane and removed half of the game in the name of "realism" (and never achieved it)
I'm not a troony to keep up with bullshit dev drama.
I don't care about who made what, I just want to know what's the difference between it and cdda?
NTA, but basically CDDA went more for the 'Simulation Autism' like Zomboid where shit is just tedious and annoying for no reason other than to be tedious and annoying.
Bright Nights is more 'Power Fantasy', where you overcome the initial suffering and become a zombie killing bearman-machine who drives a nuclear RV.
Alright, seems better. Is it as bloated with useless features and controls? Can I punch zombies to second death as a vanilla bald human?
>Is it as bloated with useless features and controls?
yes, because it's cataclysm
no, because it's not cdda
(meaning, it has less bullshit but it's still there)
>Can I punch zombies to second death as a vanilla bald human?
with certain spawns/professions, kind of, although it gets old fast because of the zombie progression
if you want to punch late game zombies, you'll need to either mutate into some self-sufficient apex predator abomination, or find a power armor or some other late game tech
>kevin and his troons
His troons have been there since the beginning. As soon as he called for people to start contributing, troons were there. The first time I saw "Xe" and "Xyr" was on the DDA Github page.
>I don't want to pay $20
Then don't. The game is literally free and open source. The only thing the Steam version has is possibly achievement integration and giving that butthole $20 "so he can be a full time developer." Except he doesn't do anything anymore. He hasn't made a single contribution of any kind on Github to ANY repo (not just DDA) since April. He's probably drinking margaritas on a beach somewhere.
I play self compiled DDA with personal additions and troon shit removed
Make a fork of it
I don't care if it somehow makes me a casual. I have a minimum expectation for presentation and ASCII and a tile set doesn't cut it.
Which fork/version of CDDA is best?
I don't want to pay $20 that isn't even that good according to reviews.
TISH there is still hope: cdda with minor changes and cut content restored
Bright Nights: cdda akin to how it was when ssethtzeentach reviewed it, more casual
Cdda: most up to date and lots of simulative features, has troony shit and garbage repetitive story
>troony shit
kek ca you take estrogen or what?
What troony shit is there?
Asking because I want to be depressed.
Transflag stockings on children zombies, LGBT flags, LGBT story characters
well it's a sandbox game. Have fun with them. My gay dwarves in DF have a special place in my fort. And in ck3 I give them the SRS they want so much.
>story characters
it has what
They weren't thinking. Zomboid fricking sucks.
I'd agree with this if the devs for dda/BN bothered to work on the barely-implemented npc system, if they managed to properly implement zombie raids and migration, and if they added a win-con that isn't just "put thing in thing in endgame dungeon that already was in the game".
>devs include troonyism
No thank you.
>HEY GUYS I'M ADDING TRANNIES TO THIS GAME YOU LIKE
>ew gross
>HEY PLAY THIS GAME
>no it has trannies
>HAHAHAHA RENT FREE
That's not how rent free works.
Anon just doesn't want to play games with forced troony stuff in it.
lmao. you know zomboids dev forums has 68 genders right. and an otherkin and two-soul-word salad on the dev team right. Theres atleast 9 guys guys on the team and only 5 list "male"
cata is great but it suffers from the same problem of getting easier and more boring the more you play it because late game loot only spawns in labs. all the cool areas like cities or military bases are very difficult and the best loot you can get there is equal or worse than stuff you get in labs while labs are also significantly easier.
Did any branch or mod ever fix this problem?
I've played plenty of ASCII and traditional roguelikes before, but CDDA keeps filtering me each time I try it
I think it's the dev's hyperfixation on immersive sim traits rather than what makes a video game interesting or fun.
Whether you enjoy learning curves or not (I personally do), there's an unnecessary level of tedium that you have to engage with. The controls and complex systems do not bother me as much as the game's identity as a simulator.
Intricate simulators are just fricking boring, and if you don't agree with me then I ask why shouldn't the dev also add pissing and shitting to the game?
Why not add puddles that ruin your socks? Why not add apocalyptic appropriate depression so that you character is limited in action each day? Why not add dirt that gets into your backpack and soils/rusts items?
I'm just spit-balling here, some of these might actually be in the game FFS
Compare it to something like Caves of Qud and you can tell Qud was designed less immersive but also more snappy and action focused. I realize how funny that sounds to compare two turn-based tile games in that category but I feel like that's a good descriptor
Caves of Qud has survival elements but they don't inhibit fun gameplay as much as CCDDA
That's because you're playing the shit version.
Play Bright Nights. It's the fork that unfricks dda. Most people that talk about dda are talking about their experience from old versions or they say cdda because that's what people know and if they say cbn they might need to explain.
When I talk about cata I usually just say cata. It omits the dda cancer from the c. I usually mention bright nights in the same post too.
>Why not add apocalyptic appropriate depression so that you character is limited in action each day?
that's already a feature
>Caves of Qud has survival elements
What, automatically consuming a miniscule amount of money and needing to press the rest button every now and then, which requires no resources? Those are hardly survival elements. Not saying that it needs them though
It's funny because Qud also has some autistic levels of simulation when it comes to things like fluids or types of gas, you can legit create so much heat that you can vaporize matter in that game or play around heating things like acid to create toxic fumes, it's actually not all that different from CDDA, the focus is just put into completely different aspects of the game.
>why shouldn't the dev also add pissing and shitting
Just play UnReal World, some people like that sort of stuff.
I hated this roguelike so god-damn much. Everything was some dwarf fortress style word soup except with made up bullshit. Greetings honored gwarflap would thou like +1 to plissmaking or +2 to flangelbury. My thirst is your thirst. Frick off to narglethep hills and slay several couololoe-girltes in the name of GWEEEEEEEEEEEEE
CoQ is my favorite ASCII roguelike and one reason is the whole weird post-apoc setting, which the goofy vernacular is part of.
Now, what you SHOULD be complaining about is the fricking gay ass self insert talking bear person who's required for the main story quest, has dyed hair and an associated achievement for complimenting her on it, and her own moronic tourettes-like tic word she says constantly like a 14 year old anime obsessed fujoshi that thinks she's being random and funny.
I hate that fricking bear.
Based
Its free
https://cataclysmdda.org/
Jas! bots are more interesting than seeing this Black person-tier take in a 'boid thread.
To be fair the jas bot is genuinely based. Anything that filters women from the board is a good thing in my book.
The game definitely looks more interesting than it is to actually play.
I thought I was gonna have such a cozy time, instead I kept getting frustrated at how tiny the menu buttons are while forgetting all the things I learned last play
Somone makes these threds just to promote CDDA
>Zomboid bad!
>play CDDA
at least cdda gets an update every year or so
its like what, 0.F now?
sseth reviewed a barebones roguelike skeleton in comparison to what it is now, for better or for worse
thank god they turned that vitamin shit down,
CBN and TISH are forks that dont get updated as frequently as the base game and a number of devs that forked it come back around for some reason
Newer updates do get weirder, with the setting that seems to be a pre-9/11 NeoLovecraftian New England having trans sharks, trans flags, and rainbow clothes from our time
theres a pseudoscottish pseudorobot that came from the other universe, essentially stealing all the bionics on earth and selling it to you
After 2 or so updates from now on i think it would be a 100% more organic experience if you play CBN, now its kinda " not in your face yet"
>implying both game's thread's don't die out of the gate
granted cdda die like dogs with 0 replies thanks to the great filter that is the shitty menus
and zombo has been trying to revive and limp along the Ganker catalog
hi youlesschan
ah, uh, fancy seeing you here~
Zomboid has had several threads that have reached bump limit over the last week.
Shitting on the game is a lot more healthy compared to shilling it.
They are still developing the game. The final vision is forming a faction with other NPCs and rebuild society with medieval technology. You might trade and wage war against other NPC factions including the military which will invade the exclusion zone to kill any survivors.
what is going to come out first: scam citizen or this?
I'd say this because they have been working on NPCs for some time now. I expect the first iteration of NPCs in the next 3 years.
Devs have promised NPCs since like 2011.
They've been promising NPCs for a decade. The first iterations of the game had NPCs.
I did the same 10 years ago
star citizen will eventually be forced to release and it's gonna be dogshit. zomboid is never getting a 1.0 release at the pace they're going.
i have more faith in star citizen releasing and realizing their goals than pz
Based on my projections PZ will leave EA somewhere around 2032-2034. Who knows how long the whole SC scam will continue.
im not even joking when i say that as long as people keep funding the game, pz will probably not complete development before the devs age out and retire. and they probably still wont hit that mark. this is a real years between major updates game, and it's come a really long way but god has it been slow
TESVI
>end game content will be mount and blade with zombies
why
>They are still developing the game
For TWELVE fricking years.
just like 7dtd
(I'm not even starting on DF...)
They are a small team coding in a custom engine based on Java
>They are still developing the game.
It's so embarrassing that a fricking patch is taking multiple years. They should've made the performance rework a separate patch because of how urgent it should be. The game runs like absolute shit unless you have a really damn good computer.
You're right that it's embarrassing, but how good are you talking here? My PC is on the low end (i5 12400f, rx6600, 16gb ram) and I get decent framerates most of the time.
Do you get decent performance in the city? Especially with a good zombie multitude?
My computer goes AAAAAAAAAAAA when I drive or walk through the city, and the game is literally telling me the optimization is utter shit since the teasers/update shows me how much of a huge FPS boost it gets.
I haven't spent much time in LV to be fair. And I guess I'll agree that for a game that looks like the Sims it probably should run a lot better, but then my gold standard for optimization is Factorio which I feel is a near impossible goal for most.
yeah the update teasers/videos really exposed how awful the optimization is
i remember that one video about how it goes from 30-40 FPS to literally 160 FPS or something
Game ran perfectly fine on my 10 year old computer with an i5 4670k cpu. Graphics were a bit newer but I doubt the game is gpu bound. Or did a patch frick up the performance, because the last time I played was july 2022.
You think thats BAD?
Remember that time Taleworlds Released Bannerlords and modders did all that crazy shit like map of europe, Roman mod, Medieval mod, And than they BROKE all of it with a "beta" patch that has been in beta for 2 years and has BUG fix silent patches after months that break entire other mods and make entire modding community quit.
And bannerlord isn't even half as fun as Warband despite being much more intricate. Fricking depressing.
>rebuild society with medieval technology
Still can't believe they are wasting their fricking time with this. Who the FRICK asked for mining and building an oven to smith.
Because they don't fricking know their audience AFTER TWELVE YEARS.
10/10 bait anon, have a (you)
They've been saying the 'final NPC patch' has been coming out since 6 years ago.
They've been in early access for 13 years anon.
I bought project zomboid when I was half the age I am now. I am 25. The game is still the buggiest piece of shit I have ever played in my life and barely anything has changed. I've never seen such lazy and untalented devs as this one. If they wrote as much code as they write blogs and on forums, the game would've been finished years ago.
>If they wrote as much code as they write blogs and on forums,
not anymore, monthly blog posts kek
Even my little brother knows none of that shit is ever gonna happen, and he loves the game. He's 14 and has been playing this shit since he was like 10.
>outdoor balcony that becomes a pool if it rains too hard
>open door without the water evaporating and it will flood the second floor
who designed this shit
How do you think balconies function IRL without flooding?
invisible npcs who drink it up
Balconies have drainage dumb dumb.
zombies, despite what they seem to be in movies, are not as fearsome or hard to overcome in practicality. this is why all zombie games are boring.
This. Humans are slow and weak creatures, if you remove the intelligence there's nothing else.
But zombie beasts? Now that could be something
Zombies are supernaturally strong and tough. The concept is better than what lazy directors and actors are willing to portray consistently.
Zombies already have an edge by the fact that they don't die from exposure (usually) and they don't need to eat, drink or sleep.
They also have overwhelming advantage when they're in hoards.
project Black
They should make a mod that just replaces the zombies with blacks trying to mug you.
already exists
look up "project dindu"
so many pz threads with the same b***hy narrative this has to be a psyops at this point
I want to get into this game and mow down some zombies but it seems like it's just all about banging zombies with melee weapons.
How rare is ammo and how hard is the upkeep of weapons? I want to clear entire towns.
its people who have been around since the tbhra days, who had great hopes for the game, only to watch every single mechanic and idea get fumbled and fricked up by an incompetent and completely arrogant devteam
meant for
>desura days
holy shit man, im surprised someone actually knows that
i remember back when the art style was completely different
i can't believe that the game is still going and is getting popular now
i wonder whats going on with tbhra these days
>Desura was a digital distribution platform for the Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X platforms
Not much apparently
I feel like a lot of the hate in these threads are from people who just don't love the zombie genre like the devs do.
I fricking LOVE zombie shit so this game hits the spot.
>was
aw man, thats a shame
I used tbhra when I was like 12 / 13 before I found out about and used steam regularly.
I remember playing Fallout 1 and 2 on tbhra all day during the summers.
yeah bro! I just fricking LOVE how every fricking ingame system either doesn't function properly or is just disappointingly shallow, but hey, it's got zombies, which I heckin LOVE so I guess it's fine!
yeah, its better than a lot of other zombie games, so yes it is fine
because i love the zombie genre
which is regularly filled with shit
Zomboid is a shining example of a good zombie game, despite its flaws
You can customise that in the sandbox settings but it's just a fricking chore that it's not all that worth it.
Firearms tend to attract hordes, which is fine if you have the ammo but even then it's going to take a while and your character still has to sleep and eat and rest while you shooting zombies so if there's too many, you're guaranteed to get tired and need a break even if you're just walking in circles and shooting them.
you can mod it and adjust settings, its fun to run around with a decked out M4 and a suppressed .45 and larp out all your operator in a zombie apocalypse fantasies
Use map to find gun stores
There is like 10 of them and they are all full of ammo and weapons
I got bored after clearing around 10k zombies with them but still had like half ammo left in my stockpile
You can find ammo on dead police and in houses too but its not as much
>survive for a long period
>day to day becomes monotonous
>get overconfident
>die unexpectedly
That or you take increasingly unnecessary risks because you're bored until you meet your end
>Go to neighborhood
>Clear the houses of zombies
>Disassemble furniture
>Wall up the neighborhood
Game is 90% complete and you can turtle in the safe zone indefinitely. The game needs a progression system or something to "do" because just surviving is trivial
>The game needs a progression system or something to "do" because just surviving is trivial
How about some bullshit crafting nobody cares for? Maybe animations for doors?
nooo bro don't you understand you NEED To be able to transfer liquids into different containers bro the crafting update is gonna be so good just trust them bro just trust the plan we don't NEED npcs yet we need to make really tall skyscrapers first bro nevermind the fact you'll have next to no reason to go into one because it'll be full of staplers and paperclips we NEED them bro just trust them
Needs raids by human npcs, and some sort of zombie siege mechanic or something for when you stay in 1 location too long.
Explore motherfricker. Go into new, zombie infested areas and bring back all the loot.
>But I don't need the loot
Of course you don't, the point of the game is to fricking explore and conquer that shit. The loot is just your trophy.
I always thought zombies should evolve
They start using formations
Grow claws so they climb walls and deal more dmg
A lot of people use phrases like "Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle", but, honestly Zomboid isn't even that wide.
There really just is not much at all to do in the game.
i wish project zomboid had a working train, Louisville does have train tracks and all going into it, imagine how badass it would be if you could fix and maintain a locomotive to move around in and out of Louisville and it's surroundings.
Maybe your grandkids will get to enjoy working trains in zomboid.
what did lemmy mean by this?
Or maybe just hire the Npc AI modders, duh
What did he mean by this?
nobody cares tankie, the dev not simping for russian oligarchs on the internet has nothing to do with the game and the game is shit completely independently of Putin's dreams to reform the soviet union
This comment stinks of israelite
you stink of moronic muslism
I've been waiting for their build 43 for 8 years now i believe.
I wonder how long the gap will be between 42 and 43, Lemmy says it'll be shorter since it'll be nothing but NPC programming but shorter for him could easily be a lifetime for any other game.
>being this fricking petty
I don't know who tf this moron is but being this petty for your shitty java code that has been sitting in the oven for 8 fricking years isn't something to be proud of.
Also the guys in the workshop could help the team for free just so you know.
I think it needs a grand objective to work toward because "this is how you died" kind of loses its charm once you get good at it. It's why I always go back to Valheim: Objective is to kill the bosses, which requires you to leave your starting area and obtain the resources required to do so. I keep trying to set my own goal to try to build a decent base in every town but never have the motivation to continue after the first month.
I think when they first made the game they genuinely believed it would be so hard that nobody would live beyond a month, but as the game has progressed nearly all players are able to adapt to the wonky combat and UI and learn how to get gud and can survive almost indefinitely now the devs have no idea what the frick to do, "this is how you died" may have made sense 12 years ago but now it's redundant
which brings us to this shitty fricking crafting overhaul despite the fact that vast majority of players prefer just looting abandoned buildings and scavenging
So why not just not release the crafting update until NPCS are done instead of wasting time coding "makeshift AI and behaviours" when you have said you TOTALLY have years and years of work on NPCS that you'll TOTALLY add in B43 which TOTALLY won't have NPCS pushed back to B44 so you can work on some other moronic bullshit no one wanted like pottery or your characters facial hair growth for 3 more years
that is so funny. they supposedly were super secretly working on NPCs and all they had to show for it was some bullshot video of NPCs....walking
lmao
What video?
i think its unlisted but after b41 released, they released a video showing various NPCs sneaking and walking
I'd like to see that.
this one?
Isn't that just one of the multiplayer videos?
there it is
I still think this video is staged as frick
>comments disabled doesn't help things
all dev videos are unlisted and have comments disabled because they are only posted in their devblogs and nowhere else, stop with this autism
be that as it may, I'm still cynical enough about these devs to consider it bullshit
>army dudes tacticooly cross the building and all know when they've reached the corner
the trailer is scripted anon, IIRC they said they used parts of their NPC code to make it, it's not supposed to be representative of the final state of NPC's
here's some more videos of NPCs they showed

If they don't release that, what will they release?
i got zomboid because i bought 7 days to die and thought this would be similar
played 5 minutes and quit. is it worth investing time into?
Devs are incapable of making a good animal AI much less a survivor AI, i preffer a content update over perpetually dumb and annoying AI
They are jealous that a modder will make a better AI than they will ever could so they won't release a framework either, let it go.
So can you actually fortify your safe houses that zombies can't break in at all?
only with bugs, like putting a crate behind a small wall to break the zombies pathfinding
or by living in a two story building and removing the stairs
Are there bunkers in the game? Something you can just close up and have different exits going out where they can't reach? Or what about building houses in trees?
If you use a specific sandbox settings, yes. If not, no, with the exception of bugging out zombie pathfinding.
Kinda. A ropeladder being the only way up and down works and no zombie will ever get in again but then they will pull them down cause frick you.
Can you actually go in that building right there with all those floors?
yeah
Yep, it looks like a modded city though.
>Are there bunkers in the game?
Nope, only through mods. The next patch will add basements so I guess you can get unmodded bunkers that way. The developers however spend ages to shit out patches so it will take a while.
>Something you can just close up and have different exits going out where they can't reach?
Just get a two-story building and crawl up and down ropes, they can destroy the ropes though.
>Or what about building houses in trees?
Unfortunately not. I guess you could make a floating building above the treeline and pretend that it's a treehouse.
>$20 for a free game
Wow this shit is 20 bucks? Now that's a steal
When did cdda release on steam? I haven’t played in years so I wasn’t keeping up with development.
the steam version is vastly inferior to the free one, don't buy it unless you want to give your money to some random frick for a worse version of a free game
Not that long ago, it's pretty funny though because 100% of profits go to the guy who made the Steam port and no one else. The guy was supposed to work on making contributions to the git but he's just watching money come to him while he plays vidya (he has 100h played on his Steam account over the last 2 weeks). Also the homosexual Kevin cucked himself out of taking a share of sales but still runs damage control for free on the Steam forum. In other words, all is well !
?? I work full time and have 83 hours played in the last two weeks. 100 hours isn't necessarily NEET numbers, he might be working. I always forget Ganker doesn't game...
I would play more games but I need to get a job to build a new PC
I would be satisfied with just Zomboid
I bought Fortunes Run since I can run that but it's early access oops
>green bar filling simulator
This is what the devs want endgame to be, by the way
>adds this shit but not fixing combat or many of the survival mechanics
brilliant
>A quick demonstration
>6 minute video
>Uses cheat to not have any inventory weight
lol
lmao even
>bro just keep playing your character for a year to build a brick house
This shit is why the fricking patch gets delayed to another century. It blows my mind that morons eat it up like candy and support it.
What a pathetic game.
Seriously, who asked for this shit and FRICKING MINING AND SMITHING WE ARE IN FRICKING KENTUCKY IN THE 90s I THINK
They said in the little blog post that it looks gamey so they're gonna make it a setting or re-tool it. It's obvious the answer was to just have all metallurgy based on melting down cars and ovens. To be fair, they are saying they want the new crafting shit to be able to be played in a forest caveman map.
If you look at the blog this video is from the current source for iron in their tests are iron veins just plopped down right in the middle of the forest. They say it's not final but it's still incredibly stupid. Just implement some scrap iron scavenging, you can already get some from failed metalworking disassemblies.
Oh thank god, I thought for a minute they might spend some time fixing zombie repopulation, horde movement mechanics, giving more reasons to go out to loot (the fun part of the game) or make skill progression not moronic.
Why are they just turning the game in to hydrocraft.
That's what you all wanted, right?
I want them to add actual gameplay, and then they can add crafting autism afterwards.
>I want them to add actual gameplay
What could they possibly even add though. Aside from expanding the sandbox in the most literal way possible, like making the map bigger, adding new floors, new subterranean levels for basements and sewers.
>More events than just one slightly annoying helicopter
>NPCs
>Better combat
at first I thought "medieval" as in more basic or lower in the overall tech tree. these guys mean actually the world perfectly replicates feudal times now. I am going to be pissed when murdering my local lord means I now have to deal with the bullshit.
>zombie respawns: off
>skillgain: x2
yup, it's zomboid time
Does this game have npcs that I can rape like a real post apocalyptic setting? If so, I'm in!
No npcs yet, but there is online multiplayer
Shame, I'm getting fed up of abusing captured female raiders in Rimworld.
>I'm getting fed up of abusing captured female raiders in Rimworld.
I wish there was more games with these elements, torturing someone to death or just eating them is more common in video games for some reason.
>Does this game have npcs
yes. they are all on the dev team.
>supposedly 80% of NPC work is just writing events and dialogue
>cant even showcase that after 13 years supposedly secretly working on them
what the FRICK are these homies DOING?
This game is more than they can chew as developers. Throw in some laziness and incompetence to boot. Within a week of releasing whatever "tech" they're working on, modders will make it a thousand times better
There's a porn mod but it's outdated and overall just bad. Maybe when NPCs actually exist that'll change. The potential is there, it's easy enough to make animations and there already nude textures.
How the FRICK are there still no NPCs or quests or fricking anything to do once you wall off a house? You can be 100% secure with infinite food and water after like 2 hours on the hardest difficulties.
>Not crusading to annihilate Gog and Magog's hordes
Why even play a zombie game?
Its generous to even call this game. Its a shitty simulator where if you actually play to survive the best option is to not actually do anything at all, just wall off and house until you get bored and quit.
>turtles
>game is boring
Skill issue.
>playing to survive in a survival game is bad
classic Ganker moronation
When you play Skyrim do you just break logs in Riverwood for room and board and feel happy you survived the intro?
Skyrim isn't a survival game, dipshit. The game doesn't end when you die and there is actually a reason to explore and a story to finish unlike with this garbage.
nta but most experienced players play with super rare loot, so you can't just turtle or you'll die of hunger. Both winter and the loss of electricity and water help making the game harder.
Personally, since the Extraction mod exists, I play mostly that. Being on a time and having a goal revived the game to me.
This is really a soullet issue. No soul? No imagination.
>on the hardest difficulties.
>difficulties.
there... aren't any difficulties in project zomboid..?
moron
I bought Kenshi instead of this
What do I think about that game, Ganker?
Its very love or hate ive found. I love it a ton. Though be aware there really arent any quests or objectives or anything like that so if wandering a world being eaten by monsters and beaten up for lunch money by level 1 mooks for 50 hours till you get a grip and dismantle an empire or 2 without really anyone telling you to do it oand almost no congratz from anyone isnt your thing youll hate it.
Just be an butthole.
Kenshi is amazing! However, you need to be a certain kind of person to enjoy it. You need to be able to make your own fun/adventure.
The "make your own fun" is much easier in Kenshi than in Zomboid since the world reacts to your actions and there's some tidbits of story events here and there. Even as a sandbox Zomboid feels very empty right now, even with mods that forces you to think on your feet or giving yourself objectives like total zombie death. Hopefully the game gets there someday with NPCs or with mods, problem is will they deliver on their promises, there's already a ton of work ahead simply to polish the systems that are already there.
The worse part about zomboid is the lethality. Its plenty comfy but you cant enjoy a show on your 2nd monitor or even a podcast to listen to. That said, the lethality is also the best part.
Love it. Worried the dev is going to frick up Kenshi 2 though, they went full #blm and diversity hires.
>kenshi 2 woke
for realz?? where it be say dat?
(not that i was holding out much hope in these times)
It's mostly background noise and a few official things, as well as the diverse roster of developers.
>updates
Maybe in 2078 after the vaults open you can find him and copy some data logs from his pip boy.
Did an update justify that worry?
ah...dead game then...Thanks.
it's zombie sims, women can't handle difficult games so it's fine that it never gets more challenging

cozy survival sandbox where you hoard a ton of fun looking items for your base and make a comfy zombie apocalypse neet cave
>sprinters + ultra rare loot and difficulty mods
maximum stress and always on the edge of death
>both styles with friends
ungodly kino
Just started playing it now, it’s fun but the devs do everything in their power to make “le realistic zombie experience” than a fricking fun game. Turned off meta BS, infection only by bite, and might turn off respawn.
I also don’t know about zombie population, maybe it’s just my luck but you can’t go anyway at the start because theres always way too many zombies everywhere in clumps, even in rural areas
>infection only by bite
how do you configure that? is there a setting now?
The game has had Sandbox settings for a long time.
i liked state of decay 1
it was fun game even if with flaws
Agree, I played that one quite a time, wish it could be modded.
Then Stay of Decay 2 come up and was fricking pozzed unfunny to play shit, what a disappointment
they were thinking:
>there was no hope of survival
>this is how you died
happy mondoid, project memeoid
I want npcs
I want to build a secure and sustainable camp
I want to drive around the city with a rescue bus
I want to rescue only women
I want to enslave the women
I want to torture one of them to death over the course of a week
I want to eat her meat with my yummy farm fresh veg
I want to do this until my pain brides are all gone
Then I want to go out again and rescue some more
I also want young humans so the game is more immerisve ;*~~*~~
anon...?
If the zombie apocalpyse were real I would be rescuing pretty girls nonstop.
We wouldnt have to worry about food either!!! ;*~~))
I see youre mistake. You were expecting a video game. What zomboid is is a grinding chore sim with some multiplayer thrown in. Hopes this helps
Lmao imagine being a zomboid """""influencer"""""
>Build 69 just around the corner guys
>8 months later
>Have to create more build 69 speculation and analysis to keep the """""hype train going"""""
>Another 8 months go by
>Create another vid about the speculated extra feautres
>Another 8 months pass
>Desperately create mod showcases to buy time for build 69
Literally the worst kind of autistic
Genuinely can't be worse than being a 7DTD influencer because at least with Zomboid you get monthly (formerly weekly) blogposts to read ad verbatim to pad a 10 minute video for youtube bucks. By the way 7DTD NPC bandits have been pushed back 1 update yet again (has to be the 2nd or 3rd time) !
>7DTD
Imagine buying this hot turd on the dead gen consoles when they were still in alpha 13 or whatever it was that they shipped with. $50 for a hunk of rancid shit pressed into a disc from fricking EB games. Talk about daylight robbery.
People make fun of Zomboid update pace but 7DTD probably takes the cake too, updates are yearly and chock full of moronic decisions that consist in devs remaking perfectly fine systems for the nth time, I think we went through 4 different leveling/progression systems so far. People probably don't mind as much since it's way easier to make your "own fun" in that game.
Imagine being any sort of influencer or content creator
Seems like a hellish existence, and I work in a call center for an insurance firm
Holy shit dude I worked in a purely tech support call center and I couldnt make it two months in I just quit, nothing could be more soul crushing
I've been here for over a decade
You sort of get used to it
I used to work for directv back in the day
>Uhhh I know I unplugged the phone cable from the cablebox but I shouldnt be billed for all the paperviews I watched for 6 months
>I ordered this expensive sporting event but I actually didnt and now I'm cancelling it 5 mins after the event
>Please turn the porn on for 5 mins (redneck voice, his mom has a note telling us not to allow any porn)
>moronic old lady trying to talk to anyone about anything because she lives by herself
>Idiot who got the service for an introductory price, thinks its gonna cost that much forever and doesnt know about the tie in period
>Idiot that thinks he can get his money back because his show got cancelled
>Black person asking if he can get BET on HD
>Idiot who thinks he can pay his bills with cash over the phone
Yep, now that's what I call honest work
I wasn't kidding I've been in this job for over a decade and while I don't want to die I've actively given up on caring for myself because living longer doing this shit feels like it would only be worse
almost as bad as being a tarkov streamer

About as bad as being a Bannerlord streamer or shilling any kind of open world survival DayZ killing garbage. Constant gaslighting of yourself and your dwindling viewerbase because you know that this shit is dead in the water.
youre talking about mr duck or whatever arent you?

can't wait for the pottery and basketweaving update
any good map mods?
anyone? I know there are a bunch but are any of them good
Mods.
What Zomboid really lacks are NPCs, because supposedly in a Zombie apocalypse, after the initial phase of dealing with zombies, the biggest risk would be the remaining humans, because there would be no more laws, things would go back to tribalism or something like this. So it would be the game's difficulty scale, the more time passes, the more armed and hostile humans you would encounter, but at this point the game would become something totally different.
Basically the game has no solution and should be based on scenarios, but with decent scenarios that require real planning and strategy. After the player has completed the scenario, they can continue playing infinitely or simply move on to the next one.
On this basis you could argue that PZ really indicates the issue with 'zombie fiction', namely that zombies are the least interesting part of it all. The important parts of zombies are the humans struggling, the breakdown of society, all the "how we are in the dark" kind of thing. Which is probably why walking dead is most popular as a character driven show (to my knowledge, I've not watched it I just read the first couple of books).
I still enjoy playing the game, but it's clear why NPCs are an important goal and their continued absence really drags the game down.
I fricking hate what The Waling Dead has done to the zombie genre because of people like you. I fricking hate you idiots so much it's unreal
The zombie genre is garbage for brainlets, anon, that's why you hate it, because you're not a brainlet. Don't put the blame on me.
Project Zomboid tries to take a realistic survival approach and what happens is that when you don't have moronic protagonists deciding that they need to abandon the safety of their supplies and resources to try and rescue a puppy or kitten in the midst of hundreds of infected zombies, it naturally evolves into something dull, repetitive and unexciting. This is particularly bad for games.
Project Zomboid has no solution, it will always be a monotonous game because the players are not the average morons portrayed in zombie fiction. That's why I think "scenario-based gameplay" is the right way to go. Just create decent scenarios with complex objectives that require a good deal of strategy and that's it...if the player wants to continue in the monotony after completing the scenario, that's his choice.
>player progression BAD
>I want a game where no matter how long I play, I'm stuck in the same situation
Yeah, because zombies were so much better when every uninfected human was a moron that died only because they tripped on nothing and sat there screaming instead of getting up. moron.
You stop dying to boring, obvious stuff and instead find increasingly moronic ways to end your run.
basically "7 days to die" the zombies grow stronger over time , they end up going into huge hordes on certain days (every 7 days in that game)
I remember seeing an early build of this where you had to take care of your wife and there was a break-in at one point. Since then I finished high school, college, went back to college, and married a woman and created a whole new person.
Should games be allowed to be "in development" for this long? Especially in a state where people can pay for and play it. I think early access was a mistake
>goyslop is goyslop
>Git gud at an autistic game
>Becomes boring and easy.
Welcome to Fighting and Rhythm games too, bucko.
I wanna do an Opening Hours run, but I don't know where to find any guns. Can someone help?
Just check the map.
I am here to have a conversation you dumb Black person
Can these alt scenarios be hosted on multiplayer?
so i am led to believe that you start the game being instantly the literal only nonzombie. what was your character even doing before the start? were you just isekaid there?
Considering my character is an alcoholic I just assume he can't fricking remember anything.
The stronger your character becomes the more dangerous the tasks you should undertake
>no random zombies mod
Try it with like 5% sprinters and 1% smart zombies, it's a completely different ballgame.
>1% smart zombies
What are smart zombies? Do they just open doors?
Yeah
In the blog they say it's an old "proof of concept" for NPCs to show to their team, it's likely this is real people in a staged video that Lemmy can show to the staff and go "we need NPCs to at least be this good at surviving". Unless they stated otherwise outside of their blog.
Do you have a link to that specific blog? It's pretty obvious that these aren't NPCs and it's just multiplayer.
I'm too lazy to look it up but it should be the blog that is very shortly after the B41 stable release blog (december 2022 I think) and is titled "the road ahead" or something along those lines. They have all their blogs on the indie stone website.
>real people in a staged video
this is exactly what I think it is. I recall them saying it was a teaser to what they are working on implying they are actual NPCs and then they go on to say they're working on this really elaborate Rimworld style story system where John Doe in Louisville is playing out his own story offscreen alongside the player and that he may eventually join a raider faction and eventually cross paths with the player or die somewhere having never been within 100 feet of the player. I thought it was bullshit then and I still do, then again I could be remembering it all wrong and I don't care enough to go looking through their "copeblogs" as another anon put it
no you pretty much got it. thats what they want their NPCs to be like, as impossible it may be for their skill level.
>same slow walk kiting
>still no runners
>dangerous
you're a filthy casual, we get it
They need some reasons to move around.
>Make the horde mod official and have zombies attack your base every few days if you stay in one place too long
>Make the more helicopter events official, and make the radio announce big supply drops in other cities to convince you to go travel to it
>Make things like radios, fridges, ovens, etc break down over time and you need electronics and more parts to fix them
>Have gas stations actually run out of gas fairly quickly
>NPCs
I like the idea of electronics breaking down and needing repair, though they would need to make sure that they last long enough not to get annoying.
Hordes showing up would be neat though I'd prefer if given enough time, zombies would slowly accumulate into big hordes organically and wander the map.
Yes, expanded helicopter events should just be in the main game. They're so much better than the vanilla it's not even funny.
I know they really have their world lore set in stone, but it'd be nice if you could catch a radio personality or tv show deep into the apocalypse.
M1911 or M625? Also it's so bunk you can't repair guns without multiples of said gun. Like, how am I supposed to repair my M16 if there's only 2 in the whole map? At least let rifles repair other rifles
Was gonna ask if that was Brita's, guessing not. That mod does at least add cleaning and repair kits.
I'd always go with the wheelgun, only because on your feet it's easier to reload one without having to faff about with magazines.
Should I dabble with gun mods? Love using guns in Zomboid. But I play mostly vanilla (only have a nude mod installed right now)
firearms b41 is bretty good. a lot of anons use Brita's but I've never used it since it seems to go a bit overboard with gun autism and adds a lot of guns which don't fit the time setting if you care about that kind of thing
guns are fun
I'd rather keep it light. I don't like straying too far from the vanilla experience without exhausting it first
>Are you the kind of person who looks up films on imfdb
I don't really watch movies. So between b41 and vanilla expanded, what do you guys recommend?
I would say B41, it adds a fair amount without going overboard
Depends. Are you the kind of person who looks up films on imfdb or saves pictures of weird old guns, watches FW or things like that? If so, you might like Brita's simply for the sheer volume of gun autism it adds.
If not, then maybe vanilla firearms expansion would be up your alley. Also, Advanced Trajectory Realism Overhaul is great for guns.
Or put it another way: does this picture of a clown with an MG42 fill you with revulsion or desire?
hate the lack of zombie variety and bites being delayed instant death
turn off infection in sandbox settings until you're able to not get bit
By variety you mean a lack of different types of zombies, like no 'special infected'? I sort of get that though I think the point is a classic Romero style apocalypse.
I really want there to be like a couple of Tyrant style zombies, REALLY tough and will doggedly track you, break through walls etc but slow as hell.
>I sort of get that though I think the point is a classic Romero style apocalypse.
Even Romero had zombies that could pick up rocks or tools in the first movie. There are several ways to spice up zombies without going into Resident Evil tier Tyrants that still fit within the "realistic" nature of the game. But the devs would rather add pottery and spoon whittling than fix actually important mechanics.
I tried it out for the first time last week and ragequit because zombies spawn literally everywhere, I ran away from the starting area into a huge forest and there was literally zombies behind every other tree. I then respawned, ran away to the east bridge at Riverside and guess what? Zombies everywhere even though it's rural as frick. Not to mention zombies sees and notices you way too easily, even with the less detection perk you still get noticed 100 fricking meters from the zombie while crouching. I'm gonna give it another shot but I will 100% cheat to avoid the moronic mechanics of this game
did you play on preset settings? sandbox is the way to go you can make it as hard or as easy as you want
it's in sandbox settings, think it's listed as blood and saliva, you can set it to saliva which would be only bites
Play CDDA.
fine, what version and which tileset?
Latest CDDA with either Ultica or UDP tileset
By making the enemies stronger and having some items like food expire, CDDA does this but if you know what you are doing you will still be able to snowball
The CDDA zombies mod for PZ, that is. It's one of my faves.
(I'm sure CDDA is fine but I can't get into that style of game unfortunately)
Is there a good list of mods? I bought the game on sale because pirating and installing the mods manually was a pain in the ass.
>zombies fear the sun
>turn to sprinters at night
>infection disabled
>injury severity maxed
>everything extremely scarce
>start date 12 months later
>overgrown mod
this right here is the definitive way of playing the game
Sounds based. I had a few issues with Fear The Sun (more zombies than I would like roaming out and about during the day), but it seems to work nicely and it gives you two things to fear
>having somewhere safe to be when night falls
>having somewhere safe to stay when morning comes and all the zombies want somewhere to hide
This Anon gets it. I take it a step further:
>Set temperature to very low
>Start in winter
>Nerf farming and scavenging abundance
It really forces you to go out scavenging
>infection disabled
>death entirely depending on a dice roll
lol
lmao
Roll the dice zero times then my guy
Think of it more like "% chance to have a saving roll" for fricking up
no, it's a moronic gimmick
>zombie game with no infection
homosexual pussy
Infections are fun if you can do something against them.
Infections are shit if it's just "oh frick, I got bit, better drink bleach to get it over with". Might as well just make the whole thing instant.
What I usually do is play with infection on, saliva only, and 6 in game hours to die after getting bitten. Maybe I get to store my loot so my next character gets it. And he gets to read my journal so they can at least get some of my now dead character's exp.
>Equip military vest
>Equip leather jacket
>Equip several other layers of clothing
>Bites/Lacerations and scratches going through all of the layers is RNG based
Great system.
>Having your run end because of janky bullshit combat and LOS the devs will never ever fix
>t. the vegan of the zombie genre
c-can you go into that office building or hotel on the left?
yes, you can enter all buildings, what will you find in there though? probably not a lot of useful things
The office building will probably have a lot of uhhhh
Office supplies, cigarettes, coffee, milk, sugar...
You're right though that the average office building isn't very useful. And in the game, as well.
>cigarettes
heaven for characters with smoking
Oh yeah, I always go smoker (and I have smoker's cough installed for maximum frick you to stealth) but they're not exactly rare to find.
I don't think every building necessarily has to be useful, some places are just going to be objectively bad to hole up in for a zombie apocalypse. Money doesn't mean anything after the event (though I am making my current character loot EVERY bit of gold she finds).
Pens, staplers, water fountains and instant covfefe. What more could a man ask for ?
>what will you find in there though? probably not a lot of useful things
Lots and lots of cigarettes.
any weapon modpack that you would recommend?
I use SOMW and Bastard Sword.
Is there much merit to clearing out areas in Loiusville in standard apocalypse settings? I don't have much experience in the city so I don't know how respawns are like. Right now I'm clearing the northwesterly street with all the manions since it's near my base. Am I wasting ammo clearing places I don't really need to?
sandbox settings are the way to go. default modes are gay, turn off respawn
on apocalypse I think a cell will spawn zombies if you haven't been in that area for 12 in-game hours. the amount that get spawned are a fraction of the initial population and cells are huge so it's probably worth it.
there's nothing more to this game other than killing zombies and grinding up pointless skills with very limited uses

Buy an ad, homosexual.
Frick man, I hate Loiusville. I just wanted some dumbells. There's a stupid amount of zombies. I can't get back to my car. Should I just walk home exhausted and come back with some more fire power or risk and try to dive in?
Find some place to rest but never overextend when you're exhausted, it's just asking for trouble especially if you have random zombies with a certain percentage of sprinters.
Zombros... it's not looking good.
Tried to lose them but some followed me through this vet. Rested in that red car and hopped the fence. Currently hiding in one of these terrace houses. Gonna walk home with my tail between my legs and return with some fire power. I feel like I don't have the shells to shoot a shotgun here so I'm gonna get my m16
I know people dislike Brita's for the amount of gun autism, I get that.
But finding pic related in a boarded up house feels good as hell
uh oh. did you make it?
Ran home, grabbed my shotgun and m16 and drove back. Used my shotty to clear the area near the warehouse/utility disctrict and now I stupidly returned to the boxing gym and tried to fight the horde with my m16 but they are simply too many and the M16 can't even dent them. I've exhausted all my shotgun shells. No idea how to deal with this. To think I was planning on basing in that boxing gym
use fire
Do americans really keep an arsenal under their kitchen sinks?

OH SHIT ZOMBIE

>0 difficulty scaling
By default, the zombie population will increase for the first 28 days, then level out. But you can make this faster or make it add more zombies, if you want.
what bugs me is that the random zombie distribution is uniform
i want places with more sprinters than others
Learn to make custom world gen gayget.
Also mods.
pic related is my modlist.
>but does it works?
Last time I played it worked fine.
What are you hiding?
I botched the screencap.
Logical progression of the game updates would have been to prioritize NPCs since literally everyone wants them instead of fleshing out a crafting tree the average player will not ever use or even consider. Why the frick would I spend days building a kiln and mining when I could spend half a day driving to a hardware store for some gear? It's completely tone deaf from the genre itself especially since the game takes place during the end of the world, not after the fact.
it's cute that the developers think that people will even make it to 3-5 years after the outbreak to engage with these "post tech" crafting trees.
The devs themselves have obviously never survived more than 2 ingame months.
>Logical progression of the game updates would have been to prioritize NPCs since literally everyone wants them instead of fleshing out a crafting tree the average player will not ever use or even consider
I agree but I never found Minecraft fun I never saw a point to building stuff for shit's and giggles I always wanted a roleplaying game world with NPCs to give my a reason to care
But everybody else loves Minecraft
The devs need to fix the moronic loot too. They have it all backwards. Common tools and guns should be more common on default settings while stuff like canned food should be rare as frick. Food that expires should be plentiful.
The devs have it all backwards, all the fun stuff by default is uber rare while the stuff needed to survive is plentiful. Its moronic that hammers or sledgehammers all apparently are thrown in the river, or you cant find dumbbells anywhere despite this stuff being extremely common. Canned food and bottled water should be extremely rare because its the first thing that everyone takes in an emergency.
I would make the default loot like this. Perishables and tools and pistols or shotguns are commonly found. Canned food and bottled water, not so much commonly found. I would take it even one step further, all farming shit and canned foods would be found in LV. So your character has a reason to go to LV and traverse the most dangerous areas for his long term survival. But you will have found plenty of tools in the outlying towns to deal with the hordes because killing stuff is fun in video games.
they didn't put much thought into it. Cdda does loot better in every way. Loot 2 houses and you are set with all essentials. Loot a gun store? It's a lottery, it might have already been looted, but if you find an unlooted one and manage to break in, you'll be set for a month. PZ dripsfeeds the loot and it's fricking annoying and boring.
See that's how I expected the loot to be in PZ. My own house IRL has tons of food in the pantry, dozens of knives, tools, sledgehammer, a working vehicle, endless blankets and clothes. Have the loot match reality but make the game difficult elsewhere, with the zombies or NPCs. Also frick zombie respawn, that should never have been default. The zombies should just roam.
The devs are noguns britbongs who decided to set their game in a time period and location they had absolutely zero knowledge of.
I hate this aspect so much. It feels so moronic that it takes forever to get anywhere that isn't just DayZ survival. I want to build shit, I want to farm, ect. And the game keeps throwing food at me but no tools. I have a bunch of mods to fix it but frick me, these devs are ass.
I'm an hobbyist game dev.
What are some ways to address the inverse difficulty curve? Where rpg/survival games get easier the more you level up and gear up?
Are there any games that handle this well?
i mean, it depends if you want to have a power fantasy section or not
i think rewarding players with high power for a bit is a good thing
in lots of strategy games i play, theres some type of invasion of stronger enemies when you reach the late game
im sure theres definitely better ideas though
is your game a zombie thing?
Open world survival craft rpg. Fantasy/early steampunk.
>open world survival craft
oof
>steampunk
yeah idk man if you're a hobbyist i might just scrap what you have and focus on something smaller while youre gaining experience
otherwise, for an open world game... its easy to just make a high level area but im not sure how innovative you're trying to be, or if you're fine rehashing old ideas
I'm trying to avoid setting up a power creep/constant one up sort of scenario.
I also don't want the game to turn into a meter babysitting game.
>What are some ways to address the inverse difficulty curve? Where rpg/survival games get easier the more you level up and gear up?
>Are there any games that handle this well?
cdda has an evolution system. Basically, zombies evolve over time to their stronger counterparts and after a certain point it's almost impossible to find regular zombies and cities are crawling with kevlar hulks
You can also just make some areas with rarer loot or objectives harder and let the player feel OP in areas where they won't find anything worthwhile anymore
STALKER does it quite well. There's no XP system, the progression is gear-based and dependent on you learning the game mechanics like mutant/hostile stalker behavior, how anomalies work, packing enough gear to survive but still having room for loot to haul back to the traders, that kind of thing. By the end of the game, you feel like a badass ninja or tank depending on your loadout.
>Install all mods you can, no matter what more when is food, items, cars and weapons mods
>set everything to be spawned as minimum

that's how i play this

>infection: off
>loot: very rare
>sight: poor
>hearing: poor
>zombie speed: sprinters
>extra points: 30
>traits: axe man, smoker, strong, organized, thick skin, atlethic, lucky, high thirtst, high hunger
Yep, it's gaming time
>strong and atlethic
Gay minmaxer. I like building my character's strength.
>tfw your zomboid character works out and is in better shape than you are
i wish i was more high energy
>My zombtoon reads books, works out, eats healthy, gets 8 hours of sleep, washes their clothes, learns new skills, dresses nicely
Damn, wish I lived in the zombie apocalpyse
at least scraping by for mere survival would mean something in the apocalypse
and i would get to shoot my guns more
yeah usually i dont eat very well in zomboid but i try to work out in game
>yeah usually i dont eat very well in zomboid
I meant in real life
I go the opposite way, after a few days of playing Project Zomboid I start eating food straight from cans
Yeah dude just let me lift the dumbbell for 600 days straight just to level up from 9 to 10 strength
I think it's dumb that you have to work out to get stronger. Pretty sure than sprinting around all day and beating things to death is an excellent workout, no need for pushups or squats lol
I think you do get fitness experience for sprinting, and strength xp for swinging shit. I think I read that on the wiki, might be wrong.
You do but it's comically slow and you can basically ignore it totally.
You should always play on at least 2X EXP multiplier. grinding is gay
Anon you don't understand, x2 of nothing is still nothing.
I play at 10x usually and fitness and strength are still impossible to level up by normal means
You do but it is extremely slow and borderline impossible to level up after you're 6 of fitness/strength without working out
And getting strength from 9 to 10 takes like eleven months of nothing but working out, sleeping and eating high protein food.
Everyone should do themselves a favor and just start with 9 in both str and end, also bump up the xp gain multiplier to AT LEAST 3x so you don't need to read two different books, disassemble 280 radios and 95 cars at the start to learn how to hotwire cars.
>quit your job at the height of hype for PZ MP release
>want to become a meme streamer

Make every zombie a sprinter.
That's the true zomboid experience.
He's right. It's what every multiplayer server does so you need to git gud and use sprinters all the time.
I wish traits were balanced better, half of them don't do what the frick they say and are more irritating. We need more flavorful traits that do things rather than just waste your time. Making a dumb/bimbo character translates to just making every skill take ages to level.

I'd post my collection but this ain't the thread for it. I'll leave ya with this last one and ask what firearms mod you guys use. I used to use Britas but it felt way too bloated and I got tired of 95% of mags I found being for some obscure blaster I'll never find. Switched to Vanilla Expanded instead.
Bros... there wasn't even any weightlifting equipment in there. I burned down like 30 blocs of houses and multiple shops and shot like a 1000 zombies for nothing...

these threads remind of me talking about the Walking dead on Ganker and in every thread there was a couple of schizos who would bring up the Comic and how much better it is.
Why would they make a comic book of a TV show? They already made like, 3 games lol
pretending to be moronic?
But TWD comics are easy to binge read while CDDA is an ASCII lab experiment gone wrong.
Why isnt there a big budget full 3d MMO version on zomboid?

>The Day Before
wasnt this game accused of asset stealing?
WarZ/infestation: Survivor Stories tried that already. It flopped and died.
For some reason MMO zombie games (especially 3d ones) tend to be forgotten very quickly. It's intriguing why that happens considering that several single player games and 4 player co-op games with zombies have been quite successful.
What makes it even weirder is that shit like Urban Dead is still active after all this time. It can't be explained.
maybe there just isnt enough gameplay to justify it.
Have any of those had base building elements? I feel like being able to set up a settlement and defend it from both zombies and other players would be a big driver for players in an MMO setting. You could have little towns and shit that people set up, factions would inevitably form, and the fights between those factions would increase player engagement a ton.
Use the settings, moron. You make it get harder. Set late populations to like 10x multiplier.
>being rewarded for your effort and time is boring
Why are masochists like that? Do you work 10 hours a day and call it boring to receive a salary if a cute girl isn't progressively taking away more from it?
Yeah man, I dont get some of these people.
If I put in a bunch of work I want to enjoy the power fantasy of clearing towns and capturing buildings.
I'm excited for the new crafting system update.
Will the skyscrapers update have working elevators? Otherwise, why would anyone ever bother walking up 30 flights of stairs?
When Shark removed his military and police overhaul mods I stopped playing. I fricking hate Steam's system for mods.
CDDA fricking sucks, its less realistic than zomboid at this point and there are so many better Roguelikes with way better keybinds and less menus at this point.
One thing you notice about CDDA is that combat is so fricking barebones. Meanwhile in Zomboid there are so many ways to kill zombies.
>XP: x10
>Loot: Very common
>Pop: High
>Sprinters
My favorite settings.
Besides sprinters this is more realistic than vanilla.
Well that was fricking scary. Why did my character run forward? Imagine the run ending there
How hard did your ass clench up when that happened?
It made my penis go when you're trying to get those last drops of pee out of it, if that's what you mean
Pretty cool game. Name?
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead
I'm running out of bourbon, I only have like 5 or 6 bottles left
I need to go to the nearby bar for more once darkness lifts.
what's a good newbie friendly sandbox setup?
Any mods i should install right away?
probably uh...
make guns a bit more common
make cars in better condition / have more gas
have zombie pop a little lower
and make experience gain x2
as for mods i can't recommend any, and personally i would play apocalypse as is
No respawn.
Disease transmins only via saliva.
Maybe lower zombie pop in the beginning.
Consider what this guy said
Only mods really worth installing are Brita's if you want to go full /k/, or map mods after you've exhausted the vanilla map.
As for being newbie friendly, just set initial pops really low, and ramp up to 2x pops over 2 months or so. That gives you time to learn the game and get geared up.
Just play on standard apocalpyse mode. Ignore the shitters. It should be your baseline
common guns and ammo
lowered food loot
cars with normal gas and condition
5x XP
I want metalworking solely to be able to smelt all this israeliteellery into gold ingots that I can then stack.
>tfw you drive home in your armored SUV after a long day of burning down multiple city blocks and killing hundreds of zombies
>tfw you walk in your stone castle and go to sleep on a big pile of gold bars and automatic weapons
kek
basically
Instead I'm tempted on making some kind of storage area for it all, OR burying it with zombies
Is there a mod that replaces zombies with redditors and trannies?
Well I'm gonna try out those Brita mods you guys are talking about.
I'm a big /k/ guy so gun depth is awesome.
It's been so many years I would buy a rival zombie sandbox RPG kino if one was made. Especially if they said they are fans of Project Zomboid. Be so funny. "When I was 12 me and my brother played that game all the time! We wanted NPCs so bad! Now my brother is dead. Buy our game!"
built the frame for my wall. I COULD start building the walls but I'm not high level enough to do level 3, can you upgrade lower level wars or do you have to rebuild?
You can upgrade them.
Ah, awesome, thanks anon
>building plank walls when you can make them from logs
Love your choice of base, but come on.
>0 difficulty scaling
>In fact it only gets easier and boring the more you play it. What were the devs thinking?
??????
>food spoilage
>power outages
>winter
and if you want the zombies to increase over time change these:
>Population Start Multiplier
>Population Peak Multiplier
>Population Peak Day
you're welcome, moron
Food spoilage is pointless when you have tons of canned food lying around, power outage surprises you only once, and winter is way too long to wait. Specifically when you are past your first one.
>canned food/junk food
weight gain
>winter is way too long to wait. Specifically when you are past your first one.
yes this is why I like to start games shortly before winter and then start a new game once I've beaten winter + peak day
regardless, they are working on a lot of interesting late game stuff which can make the peak multiplier more meaningful since you can work on getting strong and self sufficient as going out to get canned food & other loot becomes more difficult due to growing zombie population
>weight gain
Is good. Get some weight with junk food and then subside on a single can of food a day till you get rid of it all, makes your supplies last much longer.
>regardless, they are working on a lot of interesting late game stuff
watching green bars fill up is NOT late game content no matter how many times lemmy and you moronic minecraft players keep repeating this lie
Its going to make multiplayer more fun imo. No more running around a fully looted server, make your bow and arrow and go hunt other players for their guns.
>Its going to make multiplayer more fun imo
>pottery
I'm talking weapons, fool.
It's all the same Minecraft shit
that video doesnt disprove his or mine general point though, they are not making endgame content whatsoever, there are already mods for scrap weapons or bows or just grabbing a hammer twigs and stone and bashing someones head in. it is moronic fluff that should have been put on the back burner when other more important game mechanics are half assed or broken.
>making endgame content when you don't even have a midgame
>making pointless content when you dont even have a midgame or endgame
also you can lower the amount of food you can find which I also do. and I like to make guns really rare as well
Yeah, sandbox is the only thing keeping solo interesting. Screw multiplayer though, thats gay.
Project Zomboid is the most bizarre videogame experience I have ever had
It"s the culmination of pic related
Having to fast forward through several days of FRICKING NOTHING happening, until your resources run out and you need to move
As OP said there is no difficulty scaling. 99% of the time what kills you is the sheer impatience and boredom that forces you to make unwise decisions on the desperate hope that maybe then something fun will happen.
Nothing happens in this fricking game, and yet everyone pretends like they are having the time of their lives
Fricking hell
do zombies respawn or some shit in Project zomboid? Can I clear an area and be comfy and fish/farm/gather and live self sustaining?
You can turn respawns on or off
They do but you can turn that off in sandbox mode.
that sounds pretty comfy.
>Spawn
>Find duffle and crowbar in the spawn house
>In fact it only gets easier and boring the more you play it.
name one game that doesn't
Does anyone ever base up in central louisville? I feel like a casual living in a regular mcmansion by the river. Is moving to the most populated parts of the city viable?
Depends what you're after, also source?
Thrills and a cool looking base I suppose. There's no real benefit to basing RIGHT in the populated zones since there are plenty of safe areas in the city that you can just drive from
Sorry, I didn't mean the park. Although that does sound like a cool base location
if you know how to deal with the entrance's hordes, it's easy
Any tips for hoards?
I like to make a ruckus in one area and then sneak around the incoming hoard.
Just get enough shotgun shells
>hoards
>park car
>turn on lights, radio, police siren
>get out, remove battery, leave it in front
>drive away in another car quickly with siren on, so batteryless car isnt fricked
>next person who replaces battery is greeted by SURPRISE DISCO PARTY
heh think fast kiddo
That's pretty funny
Are there any vehicle mods that add animations and only has vanilla Standard/Sport/Heavy vehicle parts? I installed the Shark overhaul and it seems that the vehicles have their own seats, windows etc.
Does Zomboid have porn mods?
and are they compatible with mods that remove zombies, and anthro mods/spoiler]?
