yes but you'll get filtered by all of them
I'm a zoomer who played Deus Ex and I beat it.
Deus ex is bussin after you get through the tutorial level
Zoomer here, Doom was very good. I enjoyed it way more than 2016.
half life yes but you don't need to play all of it to get the most from it.
Morrowind yes if you aren't terribly impatient.
doom yes especially if you have friends but it's also fun if you don't
Deus X ehhh, it's fine. you could skip it. play the other 3 first.
quite honestly, I feel that the breadth of the cultural soup that zoomers get exposed to has given them an ability to appreciate things that are very different so it kind of makes sense that you enjoyed og doom.
it's funny, when I really think about it, every elder scrolls game feels both better and worse than the previous one. Bethesda never really just completely improved on something there was always this sort of give and take with them except for Skyrim which was so irritating that I traded my copy of it for smokes.
>Half Life
Kinda sus ngl, play Black Mesa instead, it's bussin fr
>Morrowind
Goofy ahh ohio game, boring af
>Doom
Brutal Doom slaps ong
>Deus Ex
Still bussin senpai, play with GMDX mod
They're all worth it but you might find Morrowind's jank too much to bear.
Zoomer here, yes. Half-Life especially.
shut up gay
have a nice day Black person. Half-Life is the greatest video game ever made.
>Half-Life is the greatest video game ever made.
Why? People keep saying this but never explain why?
It's a good length, good combat, diverse weapons, good storytelling, no cutscenes, fast paced action, memorable sound effects and NPC's, breakable glass and a lasting impact on the video game industry as a whole. Off the top of my head since I just played Blue Shift
Alright, fair enough. Just so you know, I don't hate the game, but I've always wondered why this game was considered the greatest of all time. But now that I think about it, when this game came out, there was nothing out there that was like this, right?
Right. Just don't look up games from 1998 ok?
>I don't hate the game, but I've always wondered why this game was considered the greatest of all time.
Its considered as such because it 'birthed' a lot of other days. Like CounterStrike and Team Fortress obviously, but also much later games like Left4Dead. All started with Half Life.
Wonderful atmosphere, perfect flow, great weapon and enemy variety, amazing level design, actually good writing, and a good soundtrack. It also has a massive modding community, so it can be a racing game, DBZ game, American Revolutionary War game, or horror game if you want it to be.
You'll never be a gamer
i just played doom and hl1 this year and i thought they were awesome. gonna try deus ex later this week once i get it working, everything's too dark for some reason
3 of them are
No
NO
Yes
No
Deus Ex is the only one of these that has yet to be surpassed. Play the game with the DirectX patches and nothing else.
Yes, no no no.
Half Life is legitimately interesting as a FPS/platformer hybrid and holds up.
The rest are legitimately shit games with next to no redeeming features and only praised by moronic boomers who refuse to let go despite even average titles nowadays typically outdoing garbage like Deus Ex.
Anyone else telling you otherwise in these threads is just larping and trying to fit in.
Doom is good if you play on a source port with decent controls. Good soundtrack, engaging gameplay, good visuals, good level design. Not as good as Doom 2 overall, but definitely worth playing.
steam ver. already comes with one and an alternative for those who want to play the DOS version
>even average titles nowadays typically outdoing garbage like Deus Ex.
name five games that give you the freedom deus ex does
I won't give you five because I'm lazy, but I'll give you one.
Cyberpunk.
More open levels, more choices, more character building, better story, better music, better in every way, and Cyberpunk isn't that great.
>muh freedom
You morons keep parroting this but the 'freedom' in DE involves using a vent to sneak to the final boss instead of killing people and walking through the normal path.
Quite literally every game in the last ten years and longer does this. It's not special.
The closest game we've had to a cool conspiracy globetrotting title like Deus Ex is Alpha Protocol and that was made at least 12 years ago, go frick yourself with a cactus you moron. It's worth playing
>globetrotting adventure
you mean tiny levels with a whole 2 possible paths? yeah, totally crazy
>cool conspiracy
You mean the exact same plot that just goes 'corpos/government bad!!' that you see in every single game nowadays? It is quite literally the most common narrative trope for a long fricking time now.
Wake the frick up you deluded moron.
But it has a lot of funny moments and cool atmosphere. Not to mention the soundtrack
You won't like them
The gameplay actually requires thought and there's very few black people in them
Well said
Doom is boring as hell, at least the base game is.
Glad you were filtered. I better not see your stupid face around /vr/
stay away from all of them we dont need your kind here
OG Dooms are boring af without mods like Brutal Doom.
I mostly lose interest playing BD, vanilla is better, mods like babel and GMOTA slap way harder frfr nocap.
>OG Dooms are boring af without mods like Brutal Doom
I grew up with Half-Life, UT and Quake 3. Sorry dude but searching keys in mazes with auto aim is boring af in old Dooms.
Play morrowind. First you’ll need to download a mod organizer, install morrowind script extender, mgxe, the morrowind code patch, and patch for purists. Those are all pretty crucial to having a good experience.
and then uninstall it when you find the worst combat system in any videogame ever and dialog that's literally wikipedia entries
and copy pasted assets everywhere
god morrowind is such a pile of shit
Somebody isn’t using the weapon they put in their major skills, nor fighting with high stamina. You play morrowind for the world and lore, and to slowly become an invincible god jumping over mountains. Also, imagine getting filtered by reading.
>someone isn't using the right weapon skills
someone is coping, nobody even mentioned missing attacks
i said holding m1 and watching shitty animations on the screen that don't even matter is awful regardless of what you do
>the world and lore
The world looks like shit and all the npcs copy paste dialog 90% of the time. Most houses have nothing interesting in them and reuse the same assets. The wilderness is almost completely empty other than a few copypasted caves.
There's literal gacha slop with better 'worldbuilding'. The only thing worse than moronic zoomers are imbecilic millenials who think they're smart for enjoying shit just because it's old.
Games are either good or bad. There are good old games, and there are shit old games. Learn to tell the difference, you literal knuckle-dragging glue huffer.
It's one thing to insult me, but to insult a sacred treasure like Morrowind that will be played by future generations forever is flat out revolting
That's a very funny way to say you have no argument.
People praising a pile of shit doesn't make it not a pile of shit.
People also say MW2 and Minecraft are the best games ever, does that anything? No.
Grow a fricking spine and learn to make your own judgements instead of blindly praising 'classics'.
I remember it fondly and will continue to do so.
Morrowind is unplayable shit.
t.46-year-old
> i said holding m1 and watching shitty animations on the screen that don't even matter is awful regardless of what you do
That’s essentially all elder scrolls games, and in Skyrim the magic is even more gimped. You’re essentially just shooting arrows with different skins. At least in morrowind the magic feels like actual magic with all the various things you can do.
If you have to explain to people how to enjoy a game they won't.
Ew no
The graphics... BARF
Plus they are like 10 megabytes big
REAL games are at least 40 gigs
These games all have superior contemporary equivalents and are therefore redundant and unnecessary. I guess if you want to be some game historian queer go for it
I didn't care for Doom FR FR no cap. Act 1 is fine but I always get bored during Act 2. I'd say I got filtered but I've always preferred Wolfenstein 3D which is even older.
Just watch some YouTuber play them and pretend those are good
Half-Life and Deus Ex are.
>half life
yes
>morrowing
no
>doom
not really
>deus ex
yes
lol no not at all. I'm 36, they are special games to me. Don't bother if you're young.
Total zoomer death, when?
in about 90 years
Millennials let boomer shooters die in favor of 7th gen slop, they have no ground to stand on.
If you include sequels and mods, DOOM is the best boomershooter still, plutonia beats most new boomershooters by far. Not even fair to put most against ancient aliens.
Zoomer here
DOOM and HL slap hard frfr
>HL
A fairly creative FPS with influences from other genres. Both 1 and 2 hold up well and can be enjoyed any time.
>Morrowind
Bethesda slop, except back from a time where people couldn't be picky about their slop. Quite possibly the least fun Bethesda game, and yes, that is saying a lot, and yes, I'm including Daggerfall.
>Doom
Straightforward boomer shooter. There are a million games that do it better/in more interesting ways, including it's sequels. Nothing but a historic interest.
>DE
An FPS rpg (though it does neither of those things well) that got praised for basically giving a stealth option when that wasn't really being done at the time. It is otherwise a very generic RPG and not really interesting at all. Again, most games do all the stuff that this is praised for and better. Dishonored, any of the bioshocks, Prey, VTMB, dozens of games out there much more interesting than DE.
For context, I don't like HL either, but I can't deny it's a well-designed game and most people will enjoy it. The others are just old/or trendsetters.
morrowind and doosex only, other two are garbage
Morrowind is bad, the other three are great
Duke 3D was always better than Doom.
half-life is great. expansions are fine if you want more, not as good but still fine. highly recommend Black Mesa fan made remake, very good but play OG first. blue shift is also being remade.
people who play Bethesda games are morons.
Doom is perfect. Expansions are also very good, including Sigil. Play it on gzdoom. if you want more play Rekkr, Ashes 2063, Heretic, Hexen, Aliens Eradication.
Deus Ex might be my favourite game. Revision is a great way to play. controversial but I'd recommend it over the OG. it's pretty faithful but looks way nicer and has modifiers for second playthroughs.
forgot strife. play strife.
don't forget .wads like eviternity1 and 2
Also DSDA is a good choice too
>HL
No
>MW
Yes
>DOOM
Very yes
>Deus Ex
if you only play one of the four, this is it and it's not even close
I'm 19 and deus ex is my favorite game of all time, just install some fan patches if you play the steam version because there is some visual bugs here and there
develop your own taste instead of trying so hard to fit in
>you like [popular thing]?
>you're just trying to fit in
>nobody likes [popular thing]

damn we should be friends
i'm not sure about posting anything personal on Ganker, but thanks.
you can find me in 3x3 threads
When you grow up with Youtube, you find old vidya and get curious. It's not a "I'm not like other youngin's" flex to say you enjoy old media. I like new shit, I like old shit. You're just projecting your insecurities cuz you're a homosexual.
Doom > deus ex > morrowind > half life
Just go in with lower expectations and you should be fine.
Half Life is worth it just to see the community mods and shit, that includes HL2.
yes
no
yes
yes
Yes, also Thief is too a pretty good game you should play.
No.
doom with mods is really nice, i play it from time to time. brutal doom or project brutality. hl is a timeless classic but i think i'm mostly fueled by nostalgia. you shouldve played when the game had a revival a few months ago. the other ones are outdated crap.
Half Life should be played, it still holds up.
Morrowind is too niche an experience to recommend, everyone should watch a letsplay of someone 3 hours into the game to decide if they want to play it.
Doom is just simply a superseded boomer shooter, it's a museum piece.
Deus Ex story is fantastic if you can get into it, it's dirt cheap so you owe it to yourself to try and play it but drop it if the gameplay is too outdated.
Boomer who isn't clouded by nostalgia, likes a decent amount of modern games, and only played a lot of classics as an adult here.
Half Life is probably the one on that list that will be the least impressive. It's a solid game, but it won't wow you like it did to people when it came out. Personally, I vastly prefer the feel of Source engine games to goldsrc. Morrowind has a lot of cool stuff but also a lot that drags on. If you can get into the setting and world building and can have fun breaking the game with alchemy, you'll probably have a good time. Doom is always fun and playable. I've been playing it since I was 4 and there's never been a point in my life where I couldn't pick it up and have a blast. Deus Ex is my favorite on the list. The gameplay will feel rough around the edges in some spots, but the level design, story and dialogue are all amazing. It's also one of a small handful of western games that I think has music that can compete with the great stuff that a lot of Japanese games have. Deus Ex is genuinely one of a kind and one of the best games ever, if not the single overall best.
>Personally, I vastly prefer the feel of Source engine games to goldsrc.
Any particular reason?
I prefer goldsrc myself, mainly due to how surreal and strangely cozy the whole thing feels. Source feels a bit less surreal and a lot more eerie. Not scary, like those idiot video essay people say, but definitely a bit unnerving.
>Any particular reason?
Everything looks really sharp and the physics are great.
Deus Ex is the greatest game ever made, you'll get filtered by it. DOOM is pretty simplistic, you'll get filtered by Morrowind and Half-Life will bore you.
>born in 96. Unsure what I am but I'll go with proto-zoomer.
Assuming this isn't bait, yet. Deus Ex has a story that hasn't been replicated to date. Some dated RPG mechanics and from what I understand the game wasn't pretty even when it came out, but old quirks and faults are part of the fun of old games.
Half Life is kino. Not much to say. Graphics haven't aged well but it's fun and atmospheric.
Doom is still rad, but simple. I'd be lying if I said it was the most visceral combat, but it's fricking Doom. It's trite as frick to say, but it paved the way for every shooter that came after it. You'll either love or hate the key hunting so enjoy looking at the map screen for fifty percent of your playtime.
Morrowind is a fantastic RPG. It's also an RPG, period. Don't let the camera fool you, it isn't an action game. Fights will devolve into what you're using and how good you are at using it. The game is full of cheese too, and it's easy as all hell to break. Story is Bethesda's finest, most likely because they weren't under the constraint of having to voice all the shit they wrote. Graphics are hit and miss. Good game.
>Thanks for reading my blog, homosexuals
>Some dated RPG mechanics
Like what?
Some skills are completely useless, and some are arguably required. You can probably intuit what skills to avoid though.
Swimming is worth mastering especially by the time you get to hong kong
Only deus ex
NONONONONONO
Play everything, OP
No No No Yes
play Blood (fresh supply)
Deus Ex, definitively.
Morrowind, probably, gonna need a bunch of mods to remove the major moronation.
Half-life & Doom, gonna depend of how much really like FPS to begin with.
Depends. If you use mods you're just cheating yourself and you didn't beat them.
>Half-Life
Yes. Both original and Black Mesa are fine
>Morrowind
Personally think it sucks ass. Play Oblivion instead
>Doom
Yes. 1-2 are still fantastic games.
>Deus Ex
Absolutely.
