zoroark flopped so hard that they had to give people a free lucario advertised on the box and make riolu avalible early in the sequels

Was it really that difficult for Game Freak to have Zorua as a normal encounter and not be tied to some dumbass event?
I kinda liked that it felt like getting a mythical as a kid.
Events at their core are cancer though, pure FOMO
Let's not forget that Zorua was a non-legendary/non-mythical Pokemon, so why they would treat it as such is beyond me. Same goes for Lucario, actually. I assume that these were supposed to be legendary/mythical Pokemon at one point, but got altered in the final release.
I get that they wanted it to feel rare like lucario was initially but tieing it behind a limited time event was full moron
And that's why in 2 they give you a Riolu spawn at the beginning and just hand you a Zorua later on.
Posts like this one are the reason they stopped making getting certain pokemon a special occasion and instead make you pay for DLC or give you some code with zero fanfare
>Posts like this one are the reason they improved the games
It's still a lot better than having to take a train to Times Square to got handed a Pokemon along with hundreds of other morons. But I really liked how Meloetta was handled in SV. Aside from needing the DLC to get it, that's how I'd like Mythical Pokemon to work going forward. Lock them behind some bullshit playground rumor method that takes the internet a few days to figure out.
and thank God for that
Zoroark was sabotaged. You should have been given a Zorua egg somewhere along the way like what happened with Riolu.
>zero fanfare
homie Game Freak are the ones who literally developed a whole event for Arceus that they never actually released and just plopped out Arceus halfassed through Mystery Gift instead.
fpwp
please tell me that lucario thing is a sticker and not hard-printed onto the cover art
Well it does say "flip for original cover"...
I mean it’s still a popular mon going by fanart
2010, the moment i saw this, my worst fears came true.
Gen 5 was really ugly and skepticism should be proven right. i couldn't have imagined back then that they could surpass gen 4 in ugliness but they did it.
>t. Gen 6-8 zoomie falseflagging
Is no one going to point out Lucario is missing the black things on its head
Zoroark didn't flop. 1 out of 3 zoomers immediately bring up zorua or zoroark as their favorite when I discuss pokemon irl.
bullshit
Stop grooming children on furry Discord you troony.
Why are you so obsessed with trannies?
If you were on the internet back when Gen V came out you'd know that Zoroark was a massive flop. You had some people wanting it for Smash, but overall people forgot about it pretty fast.
I don’t even think many people even WANTED if for Smash so much as expected it.
It was hard to stand out because the main obnoxious discourse at the time was people moaning about ice cream and garbage bags, and then the birth of the "genwunner"
It gain popularity with the time, because it become more easily available in the games later on
Riolu/Lucario was also ace of Ash's final opponent in anime version of Unova league.
TPC really lost faith in Gen V and decided instead to continue shilling Gen IV, huh?
Zoroark? Lucario? Forget it! Reshiram's large furry sheath is where its at!
>locked behind an event
It was sabotage
It helped that Lucario was given a blatantly strong type combination to help push it's popularity while Zoroark only got an ability gimmick which failed.
>muh failed shillmon
I’ll never understand this. Did they shill it? Yes. Did it catch on? Yes. Is it popular? Yes. How exactly is it a failed shillmon?
>Did they shill it? Yes. Did it catch on? Yes. Is it popular? Yes
In what world is Zoroark popular? Cinccino got almost 20 times more votes than it in the official 2021 Pokemon of the Year poll.
